Would also advice if you don’t have experience using excel also, you can try get your hands on it learning it.

Pivot table and charts , formatting in excel, filtering sorting, performing simple calculations, some formulas such as vlookup, index&match, right, left, xlookup , etc, (don’t need to memorize just know how they works and when to apply them), I understand sheet, workbook, navigating within excel and some other simple task, not complex, just for the sake that if you aware being ask question on them you will be able to say something about them.

Don’t bother spend time learning vba or macro

My previous experience in one of my past role was that companies already have their procedures to follow while performing task, you just have to follows the set processes, I was marveled when I found other ways of using index&match which is totally different from what I’ve used it for in the past.

I really benefited from this thread, most especially the motivations I got from people here in the past.

Just a little update for people who studied Masters in the UK.

Try to pursue Civil service role, both AO role (administrative officer) and EO role (executive officer ) role or above if you are very good and with lots of experience.

AO doesn’t require experience (might be easy to get in with this), not
EO requires experience experience (a little bit rigorous)

A full time permanent role in any of the two can offer sponsorship to people who studied in the UK, because you guys are allowed to be paid 70% of £26,200 (requirements for sponsorship).

Have a living testimony of a friend who was sponsored with AO role (£22k salary).

Meanwhile, you just need to keep trying and trying, hopefully something good will come out.

Also, be on the lookout of some department writing it explicitly that they will not offer sponsorship, don’t bother your self with those, only 1 or 2 in 15 adverts says this from my experience.

Just google CIVIL SERVICES JOBS,

Filter to Administrative officer and executive officer role, permanent, full time.

Would advice AO roles first then try EO.

You will only be accessed based on what is written in the job adverts.

When writing your statement,

Make sure you includes lots of scenarios that applies to you, even if you’ve worked in care, it doesn’t matter, use the STAR approach.

Don’t feel ashamed putting care in your cv, probably put it as part-time or full time role, which ever applies to you (my opinions on this is that sometimes employer want to know if you actually had UK working experience (UK work ethics, such as punctuality, reliability and such)), it’s not only about a direct Uk experience but also, they might want to know if you already have experience about UK work ethics. But reduces the roles and responsibilities to like 1 or 2 if it’s not relevant to the position you are applying to.

Another friend was told that she did not have any UK experience yet, she said she has done care, she was asked why she did not include it, since then she has been including care, (now she’s also in another IT company anyway)

Say, you apply for a role that requires adhering to data protection, confidentiality etc, you can actually chip in your experience working care (such as care home, NHS, etc)

Hi everyone, please who has done the excel and word test for the role of a band 5 information analyst with the NHS? Please I need tips on what to practice on. Biko I need una help.
Wish you best of luck.

I had an interview with NHS band 4, and I was told it will involve practical aspect using either excel or word, just try brush up on your basic skills in both, although I know excel inside out cos I’ve used it extensively in the past, but some brush up on the basic is excel and word really helps,

Meanwhile try prepare as much as you can for band 5 role, cos the band 4 I had was to be for 1hrs but lasted for over 1 hr, cos the questions are lots from all the three panel,

Thinking band 5 would be more intense,

Try understand data protection, confidentially, equality and diversity, read your job role and responsibilities and understand it well,

You can try

Kyle Pew on Udemy for both excel and word.

You don’t need to practice along while watching, you can even increase the speed to x2. (That’s if you already know both excel and word)

Quick one. What you received, is it indicating request to appear in police station or does it say citation letter to appear in Court or it is framed as Subponea (which I doubt at this stage)
It was a citation.

To show up at the court as witness

Thanks for your advice brother

Hello my people,

I need a serious advice please , I made a mistake and I need help in regards with the issue.

There was a fight in one of the 5 flats opposite mine. It resulted into police action which they came knocking at our door. I was about leaving home for work in the morning and I was asked what I can say in regards to the seen. I informed them I saw an hammer with someone I can't really describe except that the person is bald.

Now the issue is that I got a letter to come forward to the court as a withness to the crime committed by my neighbor. My mind has not been at rest since I got the letter cos of the likely public display of me as a withness.

I am thinking of going to the police station that I'm not comfortable doing this as i felt that I might not be safe living in that area anymore.
Kindly advise on this move.

And anyone with experience in such aspect should please advice.

Can anyone recommend a good and affordable data analysis bootcamp that provide the much needed training as well as internship job experience and ready to give the required support till you secure your dream job and also have strong network in the job market
I have been checking some of them online ( 1.Masterschool-should be the best with juicy offer of paying tuition only when you land a job but too expensive @ £11000, 2. Careerera- cheap but bad online review can't afford to waste time and money o ,others :AIcore ,pitmann etc )
Abeg I need recommendation from our fellow naija that must passed through this same process .
Hi, here my is story, when I came in last year, I started applying for as many as data analyst role to to my skills set, not any work experience. I stopped applying when my wife failed one of her courses which makes me look in the way of searching for care jobs that could sponsor visa because it was stated that she might not be eligible cos of the failure, but luckily for us she was given the opportunity to resit for assessment due to child birth that made her failed the course at first attempt.

I enrolled into masterschool and I can tell i am now having lots of confidence compared to when I first came in. They are offering lots of support and most of our tutors in masterschool class session are people working in top IT companies.

I am just less than 2 months in to the program and I am always very hopeful that I will be able to secure job before or after the end of the course.

I actually conducted my research about masterschool by checking in some of their alumni and I was made known by someone that it really worth it.

After all, it is until you secure a job or 25k and above that they can start taking their payment and also, it is 10% of your monthly payment which makes it flexible enough till you complete the full payment of 11k£

NB: You ain’t paying any dime yet even if the your pay is less than 25k£ annually.

I was also made know that the master school interview simulation process is more rigorous that then actual real life interviews which will make it to scale through interview stages.

It’s has really been helpful.

Projects upon projects with guidance from lots of top guys in data analytics, data engineering, data science.

You will be supported till you land your first job even after the completion of the program.

Masterschool is a big company with worth of over a hundred million dollars.

Hello house, please I need advice about my expiring visa.

My wife had a resit and she just recently passed the module. But the issue is the school is yet to add the score to her transcript which could be used to apply for graduate visa stating that it is subject to the approval of the School Board Of Examiners and External Examiners which will comes up in January.

Our visa is expiring by jan 9 2023.

I got a job in a care home 3 months stating that they will sponsor me before the end of my visa but I was disappointed last week only to the told that the information from the headquarter that people will only be eligible for sponsorship after spending 6 months with the company.

Now we are in a tight situation whereby our visa is only 3 weeks left.

I need advice on what else I can do please.
Thank you all for all your candid comments and contributions.

The University has sent the CAS to apply for graduate visa(psw) few hours ago.

This forum has always been helpful with comments, contribution and advice.

I have seen many requests on this thread but this one is a discovery!

You can get good rates for your car insurance, check out comparison sites like confused.com , gocompare.com , moneysupermarket.com . You might even get better rates if you have a provisional license and type that in as your license. However, the type of car you drive might be a factor. So if you don’t get a good rate, just pay up regardless and don’t try to do anything illegal. All the best!
Kindly adhere to this advice of not going the illegal way. It might backfire, on the long run.

Hello everyone,
Arrived UK couple of weeks now and I got a car cos of my work but having issues with insurance, pls can someone register me under his/her insurance just to reduce the cost cos I don't have that much for annual fee...
Any help would be appreciated.
Hi, my personal experience and advise.

I would advice you to keep checking those major 5 comparison sites, you will definitely get.

I tried to get an insurance for my car 1.6l engine, I was seeing quoted of or minimum of - 2400 and later I was able to get 1,088 at the end of the 3rd day of searching all sites around 11pm at night.

At a point I almost pay for those one with black box at 1500, but the review online was bad and I waited and I later got a best deal at 1088£.

Just keep searching.

Got it from Quotezone

Passed Driving Test First Attempt.

I actually followed the advice from this forum.

Got an instructor that charged me half of normal price because I used my car to learn, tho I’m still within the 1 year limit for international drivers licence holder.

Also, I watched almost 10 different videos of about 20-25 mins long from (DGN driving school mock test).
Only the mock test nothing else from the channel.

My insurance is now around (£1.1k) for 1.6l engine diesel car, due to the the Uk licence.

Good advice from our predecessor on this forum.

Thanks for all the Good job.

Will also try to be an active participant to also help others with advices that has worked well for me or people around me.

I have a friend that did the same maybe slightly different but. He did his first masters in 2019 and applied for another masters 2020 because the PSW did not cover him. Two months into his second masters he got a graduate job with sponsorship in an engineering firm and switched his visa and deferred his masters
Two guys also did the same, they came in last year September for masters, na so them see sponsorship for one care home that will sponsor their visa for 5 years (contract) straight.

They are presently out of university now on tier 2 route. Dropped masters (lol)

Left Scotland to England

1.Reason is very valid but there are no guarantees when it comes to visa being granted.

2.Preferable in wife account or yours if you are the financial sponsor showing at least £1500.

3.
-Letter of invitation to mother.
-copy of wife birth certificate.
-consent letter from father for mother to travel.
-copy of wife data page & Brp card.
-Rent agreement,copy of utility bill.
-Letter from wife,s University
-Mother Inlaw,s leave letter from work.

Compliments of the Season everyone.

Please is there anyone on here who successfully came to the UK as a Sponsored Care Worker? Now that the Uk is looking to make it a thing I’m just wondering if any registration is required (similar to GMC) and which boards/ places it’s best to look to get roles that are sponsored for this field.

If you know or have info please share. Thank you.
I only know of someone who is leaving in the Uk on a dependant visa that got sponsored by a care home for 5 years, starting from oct or Nov I think.

I think Some care homes are now sponsoring visa for people in the Uk .

His agency was paid off by his employer.
