Lexusgs430: This is exactly why I mentioned at face value........ It totally depends on the reason(s) for curtailment..... A few years ago, I managed to assist a lady from facing curtailment to eventually recieving her ILR (her case might be different)........ Oh sorry maybe the use of my grammar is wrong , Visa withdrawn as a result of non compliance to Home office rules (less hours). Got letter from HO to leave Uk by June (60 days expiration) letter came in late I guess or maybe they did not receive letter early. |

Lexusgs430: Wow.... This is serious o...... If I was to take this at face value and they have decided to depart..... Why is she not departing much sooner (with a fit to fly certificate)..... Haa egbon mi thanks for the reply, they are still looking into pushing for other opportunities if possible, maybe another offer could show up, reason why. Coupled with flight ticket for whole family ain’t cheap for the short term planning, they considering wife stays and put to bed before leaving as well. But that aside, the main reason is if they can still get an offer before the date |

Hi all,
I’ve got a family friend whose visa has be curtailed to leave Uk by1st week of June, the issue is that the wife is pregnant with EDD of July.
Could you please advice on how to navigate this, obviously airline might not allow entry due to closeness of the EDD date.
EDD - expected date of delivery |

eniola1010: pls guys i just have a question to ask
how can a band2 nurse assistant upgrade to a band3, is there exam to be written or what is the procedure.
also, what band do nhs sponsor when it comes to nurse assistant, some ppl say they do sponsor band3 while others say its only band4 upwards they sponsor? Band 3 upward depending on trust, most health board sponsor band 3 in Scotland. If you don’t get an answer here would advice you hook up with someone in band 3 or get in touch with people within your team or colleague or line manager, there should be a pathway |

toughest007: Yes.
Paying another ihs fee for a period (3yrs) that have previously been paid in full makes no sense at all.
Zahra29 is there a way to recover this money? Cos paying double ihs fees ain't funny. Just got information from a friend that, it will be considered as overlapping IHS which is refundable. Said he got the info from home office. Reason for my previous question as well. Also, to add peope working in the Admin role in health related sector are also eligible for IHS refund every six month. Wasn’t aware of this before. Say for instance working as a data engineer in nhs or public health, admin in care home etc, can apply for IHS refund together with dependant. |

Thanks Schoolhike. So, you will be paying new IHS fee together with the application? |
Travel › Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Schoolhike: 7:41pm On Apr 07, 2024 |
Zahra29: It sounds like you're staying with the same employer?
If you’ll be doing a different job for your current employer, you only need to apply to update your visa if your new job is in a different occupation code.
Edit: what is your current occupation code? I believe the new occupation code for HEO is 3560 Current code is 4111, yes changing to 3560 (same employer) Although there are two scenarios involved. 1st is changing job (occupation code) with the same employer 2nd is changing employer entirely. Will the two scenarios above involve paying for new IHS fee, and if so, will the previous IHS be refunded back (only used less than 2 months ) |

toughest007: Thanks Zahra.
Yes, I have the clause already covered.
That being the case, the only cost implication would then be for the visa transfer application for just me, the main applicant. My dependents don't need to apply.
Thanks @ toughest007, do you mean when updating visa (change of job or moving to new/current employer) you only get to pay visa fee or IHS will be included? |

Schoolhike: Please anyone have experience of updating updating visa by changing jobs or role on a sponsored role with the same employer. Currently sponsored on EO got HEO and saw on gov website that a new application will still be made with new IHS, is it possible to get refund for the previously paid Ihs when the current sponsorship is still less than 2 months. @Zahra do you have insight into this? |

taalas: @Reesheeuknack..I just got a work visa, how, can I generate a share code without BRP and while still outside the UK..my HR asked of it.I plan to enter the UK next week You can definitely generate share code without BRP Guess you have ukvi account opened when applying for the visa. Google (Prove your right to work to an employer) You will have three options (Tell us about your immigration status I have a UK Visas and Immigration account I have status under the EU Settlement Scheme I have a biometric residence card or permit) Choose the first option, this will prompt you to enter the login details for your ukvi account, you will then be able to generate your share code without BRP. I hope this helps. |

But when I reflect on them objectively, they often turn out to be spot on. Your recent comments are particularly fascinating, especially on immigration matters; they're straightforward and mostly accurate. This reminds me, there was an argument about a Nigerian nurse who has spent 15 years in the UK still being addressed as Nigerian-born. I guess if the situation were flipped, say, a national of another country does something bad, would it be okay to address a white-skinned person as Nigerian even after spending many years or after granting the person a citizenship? Lol, this just crossed my mind. |

For many, it's either they go into care (meaning part of the family returns home) or they start looking elsewhere e.g Canada Spot on, The crafted policy looks like a win-win, the economy gets its fill without tipping the public fund scales. Folks are being boxed into a corner, packed up their lives and families with dreams of better prospects, only to find the goalposts have moved. |

okposm: This is a bit discouraging cos how does 11+4 equals 18 according to my total score in the civil service job site when they are not INEC. This is not logical. it means after grading, score was tampered with and they forgot to chnage the total or only an individual was involved in grading. cos it amazed how it passed all quality checks. I interviewed with HMRC.
The other one I did with ofgem, the way the lady acted was like I was profiled. I used my passport as ID and she asked me to take it a bit away from the screen so she could see and screamed "that is a Nigerian passport" and asked me what type of visa I was holding and when it expires. That they do give sponsorship but that it is not guaranteed. I failed that one no feedback was given and was told if i wanted feedback i should send a mail. Ah, I didn't understand what you meant initially; that's unfortunate. Perhaps they forgot to include the score because they might have also overlooked the other criteria. For DWP, I think it's 3 or 4 criteria (I can't remember if it's 3 or 4). Hmm, most of the time, in situations like this, I don't assume what's on people's minds, even if it seems obvious from their facial expressions. I wouldn't assume until it's explicitly stated. I just think maybe that's just how the person is because, in most cases, assuming would weigh me down, and I wouldn't be able to proceed or move on, I just clear my mind since it’s not stated On the other hand, my personal stance has been that if I dedicate my time to writing SOPs and attending interviews, you must definitely give feedback. I will pursue them until they provide me with feedback. You can't just waste my time like that. I heard from a colleague at Ofgem, told me that his permanent contract had an end date that coincided with his visa expiration date, suggesting that their sponsorship might be role-specific. Also maybe people frequently ask for sponsorship. |

okposm: good afternoon everyone. Please I need civil servants to explain how they mark interview. I recently attended an interview on teams. After the interview, I felt I did well. However, after the mail I decided to look at the feedback. They said they expected me to have mentioned the name of tool I used for analysis, and what I was told to analyse which I did mention during the interview. However, what I found confusing was that I was scored 11 on strength and 4 on experience. However, my total score was left at 18. Hmm, I'm not sure if they have a specific template for scoring candidates. Sometimes, they are not just interested in someone as a candidate. I also did an interview recently, touched on everything in the job's essential criteria, and was told that I have all the experience needed for the job but was not successful at the interview. They gave me data to analyze without a specific question to answer. I summarized the whole dataset with stats and charts, which was well commended. During feedback, he mentioned that I should have included this and that in the analysis. I told him that you and I both know that this is not what data analysis is all about. You can’t just give someone data without knowing what question we want to answer with the data and be expecting an exact answer. He was like, well, that’s true, but this is how the interview is, implying that I'm practically correct. Just keep trying because the job market is a little bit saturated now. Over 100 people jostling for one single position. Have heard of this in many cases. 250jobs was advertised by HMRC, over 10000 people applied for the job. I guess that your interview is DWP, right? |

I will tell little of my story, I came into the UK late 2022 on a student visa, couldn't get a job, we were spending the little change we brought from Nigeria though we have paid 6 months rent in advance before we left Nigeria and that really help us when there was no job. cbn4main: Elders in the house, I don tire to do these civil service interviews. So far more than 6 done ( I got on 2 reserve lists for EO and HEO roles).
What exactly do they really want? How can I secure an offer? What should I do differently?
I speak quite well and confidently during interviews. I structure my answers to the behavioural and strength questions quite well.
I will appreciate any word of advice 🙏 Lots of factors, maybe someone within the team with Lower grade was also interviewed, that’s just one, can’t continue to list them out, also lots of candidates jostling for one position, etc just continue and never get tired at least you are getting interviews (more chance), some aren’t getting any. Being placed on the reserve list means you are worth giving the job, continue and soon you will be back here to share success story. |

Arap: I'm in this boat too and it's been very unsettling. The new policy is very harsh on those seeking skilled worker visa. Got a B6 role and HR agreed to sponsor, but near the expiry of my current visa which is 2025. My manager took my case to the HR head, but he was told I'm not the only affected candidate and they cannot change the their policy on COS till they finished consultation.
I've accepted the offer and I've started chasing B7. Hmn, sounds like a good plan. |
