babaijo: honestly speaking, this topic has been bordering me, but after all said and done the attitude of those attendants are not legal. I believe if the constitution is against buy PMS inside keg, it should have been reviewed cos of the social change that had taken place, ie there used to be steady power supply and there was nothing like generator then as it is now. Further more, the attendant have no option than to exploit masses cos they are being under paid, i think the highest paid filling station is about 7000k now, so the will want to meet up with the family demanding, guess thats the reason they are doing that without fear of anybody.Pathetic ![]() babaijo: honestly speaking, this topic has been bordering me, but after all said and done the attitude of those attendants are not legal. Scream: The recent ban on sale of petrol in jerry-cans by the Rivers State government has continued to generate reactions as Marine workers and the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) at the weekend opposed the action. The state government earlier said the decision to prohibit sale of petrol in jerry cans would assist in checking the activities of black marketers, but the Marine Workers Association and boat operators in the state have rejected the ban, saying it would affect their operation. Leader of the Maritime workers and boat operator in the state, Francis Bodo told newsmen at the weekend that, “We, the Marine people have no other way of buying fuel other than through the use of jerri-cans. We cannot carry our big and small boats on our heads to the filling station.”Hardbody, please explain why River State government had to ban it if a law existed before now. If it does, isn't it a draconian law given our situation today? Are humans made for laws? |

We cannot carry our big and small boats on our heads to the filling station.” Also, ACN in in a statement signed by its state Publicity Secretary, Jerry Needam, said the ban is unwarranted and that it amounts to an infringement on the right of generator users, who use jerry-cans to purchase petrol to fuel their generators. The party, while wondering how people would power their homes without using jerry-cans to purchase fuel, recalled that in the wake of the labour strike occasioned by the increase in price of fuel, Amaechi promised some palliatives to cushion the suffering of the masses, but that up till now, no palliative has been put in place. The ACN also wondered why Governor Chibuike Amaechi was quick to ban the use of jerry-cans at filling stations when his promise of providing electricity has remained unfulfilled. The state’s Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Seminatari, while addressing journalists in Port Harcourt, said that the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources had been mandated to close down any filling station that fails to comply with the order. The Commissioner for Energy and Natural Resources, Okey Amadi on his part, said his ministry has already taken proactive steps to ensure that defaulting marketers are apprehended http://dailytrust.com.ng/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=155638:controversy-trails-rivers-ban-on-sale-of-petrol-in-jerry-cans&catid=1:news&Itemid=2 |
It is obvious that this is illegal, let everybody sensitize the public about the illegality. Let us use every opportunity to preach against this...someone is somewhere living large with people's sweats, while the people don't get value for their monies. |
[quote author=360command]I think people are not informed on how jerrycan came about, cause if that write knew, he\she would not have said such by stating its illegal to sell fuel in jerrycans. |
i-smoke-weed:My brother, I have plans to open another tread on this...let's not derail this one. Thanks |
omosexy1: @Poster I am yet to see the name of the filling station. Are trying to hide their name? Will they hunt you down? Please give us the nameOmosexy, they all do it... omosexy1: @Poster I am yet to see the name of the filling station. Are trying to hide their name? Will they hunt you down? Okija_juju: Well like MMM said, such only happens to Jews!!Oga, why should I be playing tricks because I want to buy fuel? I should have value for my money...that is how civilized societies run. M M M: OpM M M, please learn to read and comprehend before you contribute..."Jew men" ?! Are they still using this expression? |
digi101: Dude did u pay him before he sold it?Man suppose carry low denominations to escape the charges then....but, what is wrong is bad and should be fought by all. |
Kemaona: Abeg poster go bury urself. I be attendant, na little cash dey collect from you, na u dey hala 4? If na my station u come, u 4 pay much. U b greedy entity.I'm unfortunate to come from the same country with u! Who is greedy? Low iq...little wonder u are an attendant...lowlifer |
ebamma: na because of 30 naira were dem chop u make u come create topic for nairaland,u be very greedy manI'm a greedy man because someone wanted to defraud me? This tread was created just because of this attitude...I don't have to buy fuel into my car tank to avoid the charges...if I shake my car keys, they get the message, but we should not continue to accept this wrong trend. Soon, market women will form association and start extorting. I know when kidnapping started in Niger Delta...see where we are today. |
Euroclydon, what law says one should not buy fuel with keg? Why should such a wicked law stand given our present reality? Why do u think I'm lucky because the almighty filling station attend sold fuel to me in keg? How do u expect millions of Nigerians to fuel their generators daily as PHCN can't guarantee 5 straight hours of electricity? |
I do not know if this topic has been discussed in this forum...I feel it is important it is discussed again if it has been discussed as a problem like this volume of us as a Nation anything goes. The privileged are highly insensitive, self centered and crude. Whereas, the masses are docile, always accepting anything thrown at them. We are where we are today because of these terrible attitudes. I went to buy N1,000.00 worth of fuel (PMS) in a supposedly reputable gas station, a very rude attendant imputed N970.00; I was told when I inquired that the difference of N30.00 was charges for "using Jerry can". I did not know as I have never been charged, I used to buy directly into my car tank. My challenge is why should someone pay an charge for buying fuel with his own keg in a country where people depend on personal generators for electricity? Why shouldn't someone buy fuel with keg? Are we expected to drive, drag or carry our generators to the gas stations? How do these attendants account for the money as it is like at the discretion of the attendant? I didn't pay because they could explain the rationale. This is another way we create and sustain the culture of impunity. The civil societies should rise up against it. We can't continue to punish the masses in the name of solving a problem. |
diluminati: see him mouth like polished. Nor be to polish, na to do your work well. Jonadulin has failed as expectedI don't get u, is Jonathan not performing because he is from SS? I don't even understand ur line of arguement...my point is clear and those that have thinking faculty have got the message. |
antitpiah: I agree. he talks like someone who is about to take a shyyt.Wow...SSer not polished?! SSers like Pat Utomi? Like Chris Okotie, Oyakhlome, Elumelu, Philip Asiodu, like Donald Duke etc. The ones that readily came to my mind. Tell me u are more polished than these ones. |
Dana was the first flight fully booked since she started flying a year ago...why di she take Arik as she went there first? Na wa ooooo... |
Maku is the highest paid comeian in Nigeria! Who cares what the President eats if there is not downward review of the outrageous amount allocated to it. He should crack another joke jooor.. |
Do u have a 2 bdrm flt in isolo or mafoluku? How much do they go for if u do? |
Can one get a 2 bedroom flat there? |
It is not possible for the bank staff to have access to all the information provided except if ur wife gave him/her. For over one year, First Bank adopted a process where u write the first six digits of the MTCN and enter the remaining four on a pin-pad which only ur wife ought to see. Maybe she gave out information to criminals or something else. Ask ur wife wot transpired in the banking hall. |
But this man led the group that made them give power to Jonathan as Acting President~even when Jonathan was not allowed to act, they took to the streets again. When did he become a bad person? Because he had a close contact with him and believed he should not be trusted and went his way? GEJ should remember that these same crowds he calls hoodlums brought him to power and not SLS and co. |
A bait~ |
They are men that fought for our emancipation, right from the military days, against all odds not minding treats threats to their lives. Today, they have sold the conscience. Lastest of them all Reuben Abati! I was his fan. Name them and suggest how we can liberate them from their greed. |
Foolish people! They were able to stay in their houses from the 25th of December and enjoy (earning millions) while Nigerians they represent are being massacred by Boko Haram with a clueless GEJ preoccupied with his devilish plan to further inflict pains on the people they represent. My advise to them is that they should throw that "shit" out the way we put him there when Yar'adua (of blessed memory) knowing who he was, refused to hand him power for few days. |
When I saw this, the first thing that came to my mind was the end of Gadhafi. |
Let us all condemn this act whether it favours Bayelsans or not. The process is faulty and should not be accepted except if we are given acceptable reasons. The "coronation" might be used in future against the will of the people. Then, it will become double standard if we complain. |
@1025, I respect ur comment, I share some of ur views. Constructive criticism and vibrant veritable opposition are necessary ingredient of a sound democratic system but when a critic allows personal issues and sectional agenda to becloud good judgement, it becomes tasteless salt. Think of a situation where Northern leaders of thoughts come and condemn this group's present activities, they will lose the support they enjoy as such; their might is punctured. Meanwhile, if the government is getting it right, patriotic Nigerians like him should have spoken to the boys in the best language they can understand the same he talks about failures of GEJ's govt (he didn't speak against the Obj's govt). That good citizenship. Note that I don't support the aimless govt of GEJ, I now think El-Rufai wanted Ribadu's treatment; because he didn't get it, he wants to pull down the house. |
