Goddex: Most of these Asiwaju Criminals of Nigeria boys don't travel out of South West.

Omo-tier, for ur information, village roads in Akwa Ibom are also built by Julius Berger in the same quality as you see in those pix.
all you have even in Uyo is nice roads and flyovers. then you have nice soups and drinking joints all over the place.

Ibom Tropicana is a scam. Ben Bruce knows it, Akpabio knows it, observers know it and good sons and daughters of Akwa Ibom knows it.

Godswill and his commissioners are stealing money through road contracts in the state and thats why there are som many road projects going on courtesy Gitto and Julius Berger.

Yeah I know Fashola also does the same scam, but at least Lagos roads lead to actual places where things are happening, business and pleasure.

Your roads lead primarily to dingy drinking joints and village-esque areas. Its only peaceful when politics is not being played and thats why they shed so much blood in AI during elections because they know the amount available to be stolen.

What you're calling development is

1. pictures of flyovers that lead primarily to nowhere.

2. plenty pictures of Le MEridien

3. E Library which is a known scam

4. Ibom Tropicana which is also a known scam

5. Keke Napep

Please don't put nonsense here and call it development again. Do you know how much Akpabio and Umana Umana are stealing?

Well she is completely innocent of the charges. Meet the agent provocateur who started all the drama and had a good laugh at the expense of the touchy local social media crowd.

Romance › Re: The Right Time For A Man To Rent An Apartment? by scribble: 2:08pm On Mar 27, 2013
pleep: My parents bought the car, its not abnormal to get an apartment in college. Ur in college right?
u obviously live in the States, and ur parents or the government pays for ur college. Things are quite different in Nigeria.

I put myself through the last year of 'private' college in Nigeria cos my single mom knew id started making money.
bought a car and an apartment afterwards based on running around for contracts etc, not a 9 to 5.

a 9 to 5 can help u achieve rent etc in America, a lot of times in Nigeria it can't.

So act like u know buddy. Some Nigerian guys are freeloaders anyway and would prefer living with their parents so they dont have to pay for anything and can then buy an expensive car and screw all the girls in Unilag, Ife and OSU. but its a matter of choice.

Nigeria is not like the USA!
Investment › Oando Rights Issue Over-Subscribed By 14% by scribble(op): 5:18pm On Mar 26, 2013
Oando Plc may have realised about N62 billion from its Rights Issue, indicating an oversubscription of N8 billion or 14 per cent, a source close to the regulators has exclusively revealed.

The integrated energy firm had issued 4.548 billion shares to existing shareholders at N12 per share to raise N54.6 billion between December 2012 and February 2013.

THISDAY checks showed that the offer had recorded an over subscription of N8 billion, translating to about N62.6 billion total subscription due to high investor demand.

This is coming on the heels of recent bullish run of the company’s share price as investors continue to show confidence for the blue-chip stock. Analysts are betting on post-rights issue valuation that suggests a 60 per cent upside to the Rights Offer price and therefore recommending ‘BUY’ rating.

According to a capital market watcher, the positive response to Oando’s Rights Issue is a very good sign for the market as it is the first true market test since the bourse went cold on the back of the global economic deceleration.

The market expert believed that shareholders have responded to a positive outlook based on strong market fundamentals.
“Oando is entering a new frontier in its integrated energy business model which will see the company increase investments in the upstream segment of the Oil & Gas space.

In addition, the analyst believed “Oando is a low cost route into Nigeria’s attractive energy sector,” he said.

Analysts said Oando Plc had made investment in the high margin upstream division that would transform the business significantly and increase value creation for the shareholders. The acquisition of ConocoPhillips’ entire oil and gas assets in Nigeria put the company on stead to increase its oil production to almost 50,000 barrels of oil per day. It also extends its footprint into the liquefied natural gas (LNG), as well as power generation.

An initial $435 million deposit has been made the balance of $1.3 billion will be paid by the proceeds of the recently concluded Rights Issue whilst a syndicate of international banks have lined up to finance the $800 million debt portion of the transaction.
When contacted, the Group Chief Executive, Oando Plc, Mr. Wale Tinubu, declined to comment on the total amount raised through the rights issue, saying the allotment has to be completed and approved by the regulators before any public communication can be made.
He, however, said: “We thank our shareholders, for the immense support we received during the acceptance period of our Rights Issue exercise. We are truly humbled by the level of participation from them as well as the new investors who acquired Oando Plc’s shares through traded rights on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). The fresh capital will be deployed to actualise our corporate strategy for improved earnings through higher margin upstream businesses and increased value creation by reduction in our cost of capital”. According to Mr. Tinubu, Oando looks forward to the successful conclusion of the Rights Issue exercise, which will pave the way for a revitalised company, strongly positioned for diversified growth.

There was last a minute rush for the shares few days to the closure of the offer last month following the attractive price and the confidence investors expressed in the business fundamental and the future outlook of the leading integrated energy company. “The Company has made huge investments over the years that would begin to yield fruits very soon” a shareholder remarks. Also, analysts believe that the prospect of having a stake in the very lucrative upstream sector would increase investors’ appetite for Oando shares in the rights issue.

Politics › Boko Haram Release New Video, Issue Fresh Threats by scribble(op): 8:30am On Mar 22, 2013
A new video has been released by the Boko Haram Islamist sect, showing its leader, Abubakar Shekau and the French family of seven abducted last month in Northern Cameroun.

The video, which was obtained by the international news agency, Agence France Presse, AFP, does not however show Shekau and the French hostages in the same location.

The audio clips had earlier in the week been reported by AFP.

Shekau, who spoke in Arabic in the nearly 11-minute video said the French family was abducted because of the arrest of Boko Haram members and their families in Nigeria and Cameroun.

The screen was split while he spoke, showing him on one half and the French family in the other half.

In what he described as a message to the Presidents of Nigeria, Cameroun and France, Shekau said, “God sent us the French hostages….The proof that we are holding them is that our brothers and sisters were captured in Cameroun…We seek no money but the release of our brothers.”

The father of the French family, which includes four children, the couple and an uncle, later reads a statement from a piece of paper.

He is surrounded by his wife, children and brother, all seven of them standing in front of what appears to be a tarpaulin.

A source close to the family confirmed on Monday that the man speaking was indeed the father, Tanguy Moulin-Fournier.

The family were abducted on the 19th of February while on holiday at the Waza National Park in Northern Cameroun.

The father in the video says they were abducted 25 days ago.

Cameroun had said that the hostages were taken over the border into the restive North-Eastern Nigeria, although their precise location was not known.

Boko Haram is believed to be composed of several factions with various interests and shifting demands.

The group has in the past called for the creation of an Islamic state in Nigeria.

They have been blamed for about 3,000 deaths in Northern and Central Nigeria since the start of the insurgency in 2009.

NYSC › 62 Fake Corpers Arrested In Nasarawa State by scribble(op): 7:42am On Mar 19, 2013
The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Monday discovered a fake National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp at Tammah village, Nassarawa Local Government Area of Nassarawa State, with 62 ‘corps members’.

It was gathered that the fake camp was to operare for just a day, in which all the fake corps members would take their pictures with the NYSC crested vests and other kits and be likely issued fake certificates for future reference.

The fake corps members, consisting of 44 females and 18 males, were arrested and paraded by the state commandant, Mr Andekin Amos Musa, who said that the routine surveillance of the command made the arrest possible.

He added that the four drivers who conveyed them to the village, and the photographer hired for the illicit job, were also arrested.

He said, “The suspected fake corps members were arrested at the outskirts of Nassarawa Town near the Government Secondary School. Investigations are still on, and as soon as they are concluded, they will be charged to court.

“So far, our investigations reveal that one Chinedu is the coordinator and director of the fake camp. We also discovered that the fake corps members paid sums ranging from N120, 000 to N200, 000 before being admitted to the camp.

“I want to warn parents and guardians to watch their wards very closely so as to curb their excesses.”

Some of the suspects who were interviewed claimed to be running evening classes at the University of Jos, Jos, Plateau State.

They also claimed ignorance of the fact that it was a fake camp, saying they were lured into it out of desperation as without an NYSC discharge certificate, one would not be able to secure a job in future.

It will be recalled that the NSCDC had recently arrested and paraded fake corps members caught at two different fake camps preparing for orientation and induction at the outskirts of the state.

Politics › Bank Robbers Heading To Ajao Estate With Rocket Launcher Killed By Police by scribble(op): 8:53am On Mar 11, 2013
http://www.theheraldng.com/bank-robbers-heading-to-ajao-estate/

Carnage was averted last Friday due to the vigilance of the members of the Nigerian Police Force from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad and Area ‘G’ command, Ogba.

The diligent police officers acting on a tip-off that a gang of 13 armed robbers were headed to Ajao Estate to rob an old generation bank, laid ambush for the robbers at the Abule-Egba area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

As the robbers approached the police checkpoint in two vehicles; a Toyota Sienna with number plate AKD 54 AG and Nissan Sunny car with number plate BT 914 APP, they opened fire on the police, leading to a a gun duel that lasted over an hour.

The robbers fell victims to the superior firepower of the Police and seven of them sustained life threatening injuries, eventually leading to their death.

Police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, said five AK 47 riffles, five double barrel cut-to-size and a total of 535 live cartridges were recovered at the end of the melee.

Also in a turn of events, three suspected members of the gang already positioned close to the bank, and waiting for the arrival of their colleagues reportedly overheard the encounter with policemen from a radio broadcast but could not ascertain if their colleagues were the robbers in question.

During interrogation, one of the arrested suspects disclosed the information to the operatives.

“When we were informed, we used the telephone number of one of the arrested suspects to contact their colleagues at Ajao, making him sound as if they were still on their way. They even told them they heard there was shoot-out at Abule-Egba and wanted to find out if it involved them”, sources said.

When the police operatives reportedly stormed Ajao area, the suspects who sensed danger, had fled the scene. They were, however, trailed to a hotel around the area, where one of them, a 48-year-old man whose identity was given simply given as Muftau, was arrested while his colleagues were said to have managed escape.

During interrogation, Muftau reportedly disclosed that his fleeing colleagues had a rocket launcher, three AK 47 riffles and a total of 600 cartridges in their vehicle.

I read through a thread today about people attributing spiritual wife and husband to African ignorance so I have a question for the non believers.

A few years ago, a friend of mine was asleep and woke up the next day with scratches on his back. Real, painful scratches. His reason was weirded out...in his dream, he said, he was making love to a woman and she scratched his back. He woke up with the scratch marks as a testament.

So is this one African ignorance or matter of spiritual importance...please advice
