DMerciful: Language is not the only thing that defines people culturally. Language can be learned. The whole of latin America was colonized by small Spain and today they speak Spanish.
The Igbos in Delta(Anioma) are not supposed to be in Delta but the military created states recklessly. Eventually Anioma would be the 6th Igbo state, thats if separation doesn't come before then Culturally the ika are more close to Benin than ibo. Ndowka culturally are closer to the urhobos only the aniocha practice a similar culture with their brothers from southeast |

klap4gbens: Some of these things are real actually.
I had an experience while growing up. I was in primary 4 and had an older cousin who I usually accompany to pick cherry from the bush. The tree was so tall that our stones could not reach any of the fruits, so we settle for any fallen one we meet on the ground.
And, because I feel cheated with the way she shares what we are able to pick, I determined to go alone without her notice.
So, on this very day, I woke so early, say around 4am because we usually go there around 5am so as to get there before others.
As I approached the sloppy footpath before the tree, I had to run down and as I turned towards the tree, I saw this young girl in white apparel at the bottom of the tree, she stood up and entered the tree.
Initially, I was not afraid because of the excitement of having the whole cherry to my self. But, as I was going back home, the fear came. My head became very large, my feet were heavy to move. Till date, my cousin did not know what happened, because I still followed her there the same morning so she wouldn't suspect any thing. Supernatural occurrence are real, as most things we termed as myth were or might be real events that happened in the past. But as we start finding answers to most questions through science. The unexplainable were categorized as myths. I had similar experience of a young man changing to an old man at 3 am (I was travelling to abuja for nysc that day). And it was fun experiencing it |

klap4gbens: Wow, please narrate the experience, let's favor it.
MODs please help to the promised land. There is not much to say about it. It happened in delta state.. Ughelli . The guy was sent home for examination fee and According to him they pass through a short cut through a rubber tree plantation where they say the creature with her children at the bank of the river taking their bath. As they(my friend and class mate) get closer they(mammy wata) entered into the water... There are also a story about stealing their children attracting blessing from the mammy wata child thief. Well because the mammy wata is willing to do anything to get their child back. Also the story behind the creation of onitcha bridge I've heard a lot of stories about their existence that made me believe they are real |

Nwanyiogwashi: If you add isoko and warri as part of urhobo then urhobo will become the largest but if not urhobo is not, urhobo are like ijaw that always claim 4th largest in Nigeria without prove The relationship between agbor, ukwuani ndokwa and the rest of the anioma. Is the same relationship isoko, okpes and urhobo (usually known as sobo) has. So I think if we are comparing population. Its best we do it the right way. Thanks |

the Beni's were greedy. they wanted everything for themselves. they left many part of Delta to decay beside there is nothing uniting urhobos and benin other that we have a language patter under same language family. If there was a central ediod language spoken by all group. that would have been a unifying factor |

[s] michaelkaroh: What would you like to know?........our ancestry(urhobos) under much scrutiny did reveal "itself" to be nothing more than historical speculation....how can a single tribe claim to be from edo, ile-ife, Egypt, Sudan and at same time be autochthonous to the Niger delta. It's crazy, honestly. Urhobos or rather sobos are part of the greater igbo nation just as the kwa iboes (akwa ibom) is part of the igbo nation. It has come to my notice that the more popular a location is historically, the more people try to claim descent from there, just like the ikweres who are igbos culturally and linguistically claim to be from edo, I bet if edo wasn't so popular in history, none of the aforementioned peoples would've had it in their stories. Sometimes it's painful to live in these times.I wish the civil war never happened, I wish the biafran troops didn't invade the Midwest, I wish our land was not divided on oil lines, I wish we didn't have to deny the igbos in order to live.....I wish the kingdom never fell.....maybe now, we all would still be brothers. IkpuMmadu: Oga stop claiming.... minority tribes are bound to borrow from bigger tribes
Omugwo is an Igbo word
Meaning two words Omu ....to born and Gwo to go treat
What do urhobo call to born bros I didn't say the word was an urhobo word. there are many borrowed word in my language... and I don't know if the word is generally used among other clans of urhobo or urhobo in general. I only mentioned it because people around make use of it and they are urhobo in their home land. bros abeg calm down |
