1. Keep well-hydrated skin

If you are having that important date with the man of your dreams, especially, the first date, you should start your preparation a day or two in advance. It is therefore imperative you have a soft, smooth, and hydrated skin. Men do love it when their ladies come out all shining.

What to do:

You'll need to get a bowl, four tablespoons of boiled and and mashed pumpkin pulp, a tablespoon of honey, a tablespoon of olive oil, half tablespoon of milk and a tableble spoon of aloe vera gel. Mix everything together, to form a smooth paste.

Apply on your face and leave for 20 minutes, then, rinse with fresh water. Repeat the procedure twice a day

2. Get a shiny, soft, and milky hair

Another thing that thrills men on a first date is the hair. Your hair should look naturally soft, shiny and milky. Like we said earlier, it is always good to give yourself about two days to prepare for this all important date. Allwe going to need now is coconut and almond oil, both are great for restoring damaged hair.

What to do:

Two days to your date, get an avocado, two drops of almond oil and two drops of coconut oil. Mix all ingredient in a bowl, to make a paste. Apply this simple mask to damp hair and leave it on for 20 minutes before rinsing with warm water.

3. Brilliant eyes

Men like looking straight into their ladies eyes, while on a date. In light of this, it is only appropriate for you to work on your eyes. Ladies with full eyelashes should show them off, it works like a charm.

What to do:

When you have two days to prepare for your hot date, you will need vaseline and castor oil. Get a fine mix of vaseline and a drop of castor oil. Massage the mix on your eyelid at night before you go to bed and leave it on until morning.

4. Beautiful nails

A woman's nails are very important, because it can't be hidden in any way. It calls for attention always.

What to do:

All you need is to get two drops of lemon juice, a tablespoon of olive oil, a bit of crushed garlic, and the gel from a vitamin B capsule to your usual clear nail polish. Paint this on your bare nails like normal to make them healthier and stronger. When the big day comes, choose a subtle but elegant color, like nudes or pastels – they’re very appealing.

5. Get plenty of rest the night before

Try to go to bed early. You’ll wake up feeling well rested and relaxed, without those classic bags or circles under the eyes. You can also put some lavender under your pillow, and the relaxing smell will help you have more restful sleep.

Enjoy your date, and remember: act natural and always be yourself.

Nairaland GeneralWoman Flogged Husband In Public After Catching Him With Is Mistress by Seandeeds(op): 9:43pm On Nov 24, 2015
In Peru, a woman could be charged to court by the police for assaulting her husband. The Peruvian woman was filmed repeatedly hitting her husband over an allegation of cheating.

The woman, Suzana Vasquez, from Cajamarca in north-west Peru, repeatedly assaulted her husband, Jaime Zambrano, by whipping him, after she saw him go to a local hotel with his mistress. Ms Vasquez decided to follow her husband after he had lied to her, saying he was going to see his friends.

Ms Vasquez had asked the local security volunteer to help persuade Jaime, the father of her two children, to accompany her to a nearby cafe for a quiet chat.

However, she was clearly unable to have kept her temper under control at the cafe, and verbally laid into him before pulling out a whip and repeatedly hitting him with it.

On the videotape, Ms Vasquez can be heard screaming: “You’ve betrayed your mum. You’ve betrayed your children and me.

“I told you I’ll find and punish you. My children have nothing to eat and you go off and spend our money on this.”

Police say they have yet to decide whether she will face charges.

Nairaland GeneralSultan Of Sokoto Finally Speaks On Biafra - Read What He Says by Seandeeds(op): 2:05pm On Nov 24, 2015
Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has expressed worry over the growing agitation for an independent Biafra state championed by some Igbo people and promised that a delegation from the northern traditional council will be sent to Igbo leaders to meet on the issue.

The Nation reports that the sultan raised this concern at the second general assembly of the Northern Traditional Rulers’ Council which held in Kaduna on Monday, November 23.

The Sultan who is the chairman of the council noted that there were millions of Igbo people living and doing business in their states peacefully and helping the economy to grow. He said millions of Igbo people were against the agitation for an independent state and that a delegation would be sent so that peace would reign.

“We are very much concerned about this issue because we know we have millions of millions of Igbos residing with us in our homes, in our towns, in our states, very peacefully, very industrious, helping our communities and our economy to grow and so many of them as we know, keep telling us that they have nowhere else to live than where they are presently living.

“Since we have this coordination with millions and millions of them, what is happening now is a thing of concern to us and we believe we should look at this issue and most likely set up a small committee of senior traditional rulers to go to South-East and engage our brothers there (traditional rulers) so that we will know how we can come in to stop this agitation.”

He applauded Igbo leaders who were against the separation and that the agitation must be totally condemned.

He said: “We believe in dialogue, whatever the problem is with anybody, we believe we should sit down and discuss and a solution will be found.”

Meanwhile, Chief Bode George, a former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party has warned that it will be disastrous for Nigeria to experience another civil war noting that no country had ever survived two civil wars.
Nairaland General74 Year Old Man Took 2 Viagra Pills To Impress A 27 Year Old Lady, what Happens? by Seandeeds(op): 1:48am On Nov 11, 2015
A 74-year-old man got more than he bargained for after taking two pills of Viagra, in an attempt to impress a 27-year-old lady. The man, Ray Boddington, was said to have picked the pills from one of his friends at a local pub, where they both frequent.

Problem started after Boddington, from Salford, Greater Manchester, left her new girlfriend’s apartment. He developed major heart palpitations at the bus stop and was taken to the hospital immediately.

According to the paramedics,

“Scared male phoned 999 as he had taken warfarin and 2 x Viagra. At a bus stop, alert, orientated and good colour. No nausea or vomiting, no headache. States he feels a bit lightheaded.”

When tests were carried out on Mr Boddington, it was discovered that he had a high blood pressure reading of 157/88, where ideally, his normal reading should have read 140/90. They said his heart beat rate was also very high, at 102 beats per minute, again, the normal heart beat should be around 60-100 beats.

Ray Boddington had this to say:

”The paramedics told me you shouldn’t take two and I want to pass on that warning that it can make you ill, it can make your blood pressure go sky-high or you could have a heart attack.

”It was only two hours after taking the tablets when I began to feel faint. I could my heart pounding in my chest and the blood rushing from my head. I thought I was having a heart attack and I was going to die.

“No-one has discussed the dangers of Viagra. It’s becoming a craze in Manchester clubland. I was having a laugh trying it out but then I couldn’t get it down. I nearly passed out. It sent my blood pressure to a high level.

“I only took them because I was going to a bird’s flat and a bloke told me to give them a go. He said they would be good for me.

“I’ve took one before but never two – I don’t need them, it was for a laugh. She’s a lot younger than me so I wanted to be able to keep up. I’ll not be doing it again, that’s for sure.

“In the ambulance the paramedic said, ‘it’s coming down’, I said ‘it doesn’t feel like it’s coming down’, she said, ‘no, I’m talking about your blood pressure’.

“I was in the ambulance for 45 minutes but even when I got back home and went to bed the effects were still happening. Imagine if someone dies because no-one has spoken about the dangers. People shy away from the subject. It took around 24 hours for things to go back to normal.”

Nairaland GeneralOh No! Wayne Rooney Slaps WWE Wrestler Wade Barrett by Seandeeds(op): 10:35pm On Nov 10, 2015
Wayne Rooney decided to relax a little and went for a WWE match in Manchester accompanied by coach Ryan Giggs, former teammate Darren Fletcher and son Kai. Little did the Manchester crowd know they were in for a thrill. After spotting the Man. U captain, Manchester-wrestler Wade Barrett attempted to playfully humiliate Rooney. Wade, 35, goaded him, saying: 'In this ring are two men who can easily be described as championship material. Which is, of course, more than can be said of Wayne Rooney and Manchester United.'

Barrett didn't end there. He now goaded Rooney and his son seated ringside which the England striker apparently couldn't take.

'I'd hate for your little boy to sit there and watch his own father fail. Because let's face it, he gets to experience that every single time you step on a football pitch.'

Wayne Rooney then stood up challenged Barrett to a fight, gesticulating to the wrestler to come down from the ring to which the wrestler responded. Upon reaching Rooney's ringside sit, the Manchester united striker slapped him, all to the amazement of little son Kai Rooney...Lol

The amazed Manchester crowd chanted Rooney's name as the striker's blow left Barrett sprawling on the floor. The incident - true to professional wrestling - was of course scripted and England skipper Rooney 'revelled' his role.

Afterwards, Barrett tweeted: 'I'm heading to Old Trafford early tomorrow morning. I hope @WayneRooney has the guts to meet me there.' He then added: 'Does anyone have Phil Bardsley's phone number?'

A WWE source, speaking to Sportsmail, said: 'It was brilliant. Wayne was in great spirits before the event and he happily agreed to take part in the stunt with Wade Barrett. The fans absolutely loved it and I'm sure his son Kai would have enjoyed it too.'

Rooney, of course, is no stranger to 'pretend' fighting after a video of him apparently being knocked out by Phil Bardsley went viral in March.

Nairaland GeneralMUST READ!! 7 Signs You Could Be Having Liver Cancer by Seandeeds(op): 12:56pm On Aug 26, 2015
Signs and symptoms of liver cancer often do not show up until the later stages of the disease, but sometimes they may show up sooner. If you go to your doctor when you first notice symptoms, your cancer might be diagnosed earlier, when treatment is most likely to be helpful. Some of the most common symptoms of liver cancer are:

Jaundice

Jaundice is is when the skin and the whites of the eyes start turning to yellow. It's caused by a build-up of a substance called bilirubin in the blood and body's tissues. Some of the signs of jaundice include

dark-coloured urine
pale-coloured stools
yellowing of the skin, eyes and the lining of the inside of parts of the body, such as the mouth and nose (mucus membrane)

Loss of appetite

This condition is medically known as anorexia. This conditions can sometimes be temporary and reversible. It can also be a symptom of a more serious disease like liver cancer. It is advisable that any persisting lack of appetite should be reported to your doctor, even if it is just once.

Nausea and vomiting

Nausea is when your tummy becomes uneasy and this often comes before vomiting. Vomiting is the forcible voluntary or involuntary throwing up through the mouth. Nausea and vomiting can be a result of various underlying factors such has medication, gallbladder diseases liver cancer and many more. It is generally advised that if nausea and vomiting occurs for more than 24 hours, visit your doctor. You should see your doctor immediately if any of the cases below is the case:

There is blood in the vomit (bright red or "coffee grounds" in appearance)
Severe headache or stiff neck
Lethargy, confusion, or a decreased alertness
Severe abdominal pain
Diarrhea
Rapid breathing or pulse

Feeling tired and weak

In the UK, chronic tiredness is one of the most common reasons people visit their doctors. At any time, one in every five people feels unusually tired and one in ten has prolonged fatigue. According to Professor Steve Field, a Birmingham doctor, Tiredness itself is not an illness, but rather will be the symptom of a condition — whether it’s physical, psychological or social.

Tiredness can just a result of exhaustion, again, it can be an underlying symptom of a more chronic disease like liver cancer. As soon as your tiredness becomes abnormal, please visit your doctor.

Swelling of the legs

Swelling, otherwise known as edema, is a build-up of water in the tissues. Usually, this is caused by water and salt retention, probably due to medicines or heart, liver, or kidney failure. Other causes may include poor nutrition, pelvic tumors, or a blockage in the veins or lymph system. The advice is usually this, report every swollen of the leg to your doctor immediately.

Feeling bloated after eating

Feeling bloated after can be triggered by anything from fluctuating hormones to eating reheated pasta. Basically, anything can cause you you to get bloated. Bloating accompanied by ascites (fluid in the belly) and jaundice (yellowing of the eyes and skin) may be a sign of cancer that’s spread to the liver or of primary liver cancer, which can develop in people with a history of hepatitis or heavy alcohol use.

An enlarged liver, felt as a mass under the ribs on the right side

An enlarged liver is one that's bigger than normal. The medical term for enlarged liver is hepatomegaly (hep-uh-to-MEG-uh-le). The real disease here is not the enlarged liver, it's only a symptom an underlying problem, such as liver disease.
Nairaland GeneralWhitney Houston Daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown Dies Aged 22 - Family Confirms by Seandeeds(op): 10:53am On Jul 27, 2015
Bobbi Kristina Brown, daughter of late singer Whitney Houston, has died aged 22, a family representative has said.

Kristen Foster said she passed away on Sunday surrounded by her family and was "finally at peace in the arms of God".

Brown was discovered unresponsive in a bathtub on 31 January and placed in a medically induced coma. She never regained consciousness.

She was moved to a hospice in the city of Duluth, Georgia, a month ago after her condition deteriorated.

Brown was the only daughter of Houston and R&B singer Bobby Brown.

Whitney Houston was found dead in a hotel bath in Los Angeles in 2012.

The family posted a photo of Whitney with Bobbi Kristina as a baby onwhitneyhouston.com with the following message:

"It is hard to say goodbye. On Sunday, July 26, Bobbi Kristina Brown made her transition peacefully. The family thanks everyone for their loving thoughts and prayers. As Bobbi Kristina would say: 'The wind is behind me and the sun is in my face.'"

"Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away July 26 2015, surrounded by her family," Ms Foster added.

"She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months."

Singer Dionne Warwick, Whitney Houston's cousin, described Bobbi Kristina as "a sweetheart".

"She will be missed, that's for sure. She was a good girl. She was a good little girl. She really was," she told Bravo's Watch What Happens Live.

Other stars paid tribute on Twitter, including Selma director Ava DuVernay, who said: "She seemed to be caught in the web of celebrity upon arrival. Twenty two years. A sad end. May the sister have peace now."

The BBC's Regan Morris in Los Angeles says Brown had dreamed of carrying on her mother's legacy as a singer and actress, and had a few small TV roles - but her career had not yet taken off.

In January, police said Brown was found face down in a bathtub in the suburban Atlanta home she shared with Nick Gordon, the man she called her husband. A police report described the incident as a "drowning".

Mr Gordon said at the time she did not appear to be breathing and lacked a pulse before emergency services arrived.

Brown was placed in a medically-induced coma and has been breathing with the aid of a ventilator.

Nairaland General10 Reasons Africa Is And May Remain Poor And Underdeveloped. by Seandeeds(op): 10:28am On Mar 19, 2015
Africa is the poorest continent on earth, despite its richness in both human and material resources. According to official figures, over the last 30 years, worldwide absolute poverty has fallen sharply (from about 40% to under 20%). But in African countries the percentage has barely fallen. Still today, over 40% of people living in sub-Saharan Africa live in absolute poverty.

I am a proud African. It still doesn't mean I should not say the truth that we have too many problems in Africa. Our problems are multi-faceted.

Several reasons have been given for Africa's underdevelopment. What can be responsible for this? In this article, find 10 factors, among others, that are responsible for the backwardness in Africa.

1) Wickedness

This may sound primitive, yet it's the truth. Africa is like the headquarters of wickedness. Wickedness starts and ends on the continent of Africa. It's only in Africa you would buy a car and you can't take it to your village. It's only in Africa people can't be honest with their good news and successes. It's so bad that in a whole village, you may not find anyone who is successful. This is because the ones that were successful have been killed by some envious step mum, family member and neighbour. The writer can testify, first hand, to this kind of wickedness.

2) Fear

The fear of failure is the beginning of failure. Most Africans are so afraid of failure that the would rather remain downtrodden. Even in the face oppression and repression by the various corrupt governments, Africans are afraid to speak out and stand up to the oppression. Even in our personal lives, most African are risk averse. they will never take that bold step.

3) Slave mentality

Many Africans are still suffering from slave mentality. this is a conceptual theory around feelings of inferiority within some societies post-European colonialism.
"A slave is one who waits for someone to come and free him"

~ Ezra Pound

Just a little example here, Nigeria is waiting for America, Chad and Cameroon to come help defeat Boko Haram. As Africans, we wait on the West for everything. In the 18th and 19th centuries, did the West wait for anyone to help them develop their economies? Until we learn to think like free and self sufficient race, we are going nowhere.

4) Complacency

Africans are so complacent. It is like a curse on the land. I am African myself, so I know what I am talking about. We are OK with our poverty. We allow our rulers to get away with their loots.

5) Laziness

Many effects of laziness include poor health, low self-esteem, lack of hope, and low self-confidence. As a continent, if all the ills now apply to us, what do you think the effect will be?
Let's use our universities as case-study. When was the last time you heard about a study or research in any African university? Universities are places of research and learning. All we do in our universities is teach, after lectures, our Doctors and Professors would sit at the pepper soup joints to eat and drink, while their counterparts in the developed economies are busy in the lab and various research centres. The government alone cannot be blamed for this.

Nairaland GeneralWomen With Larger Bums Will Give Birth To More Intelligent Children - Scientists by Seandeeds(op): 10:41pm On Feb 15, 2015
As a man, if you are still single, lucky you, as this information is good for you. This is funny but true, at least, scientifically. Study has shown that women with larger behinds tend to have intelligent kids. Scientists have said the extra fat around women’s bums could help in the development of babies’ brains.

At the University of Pittsburgh, the scientists there believe that the fats in a woman's bum and thighs may provide the child with extra level of intelligence, when transferred during breastfeeding.

The study suggested that this may be the reason why women often find it hard to shift extra fat from these areas after giving birth – as the nutrients the baby needs may be stored there. Continue reading...

Professor Will Lassek explained to the Sunday Times: ‘You need lots of fat to make a nervous system and the fats in these areas are also enriched in DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) which is a particularly important component in the human brain.

A reproductive biologist at Cambridge University, David Bainbridge, has also studied the female body shape, he said that could explain why men find curvy women attractive: it's because their kids are more likely to be more intelligent than their mates. His words: "The brain-building, breast-milk lipids (fats) are largely derived from the fat stored in a mother's thighs and buttocks.

"Women with larger thighs have higher levels of these lipids. There is even evidence that they and their children are more intelligent as a result."

Nairaland GeneralMigraine Triggers - Are You Aware Sex Can Trigger Migraine? Find Out 9 More by Seandeeds(op): 1:14pm On Feb 10, 2015
Migraine triggers can be a little tricky and stressful. In an attempt aimed at managing migraines, we should understand migraine triggers first. It is very complex task, thanks to a research, it has come to our knowledge what migraine triggers are.

In the new study, more than 50 percent of people plagued by migraines with aura know of at least one stimulus that always or often triggers their attacks. Still just 10 people who experienced migraines with aura developed a migraine after being exposed to one lone trigger.

According to MD, director of the University of Pittsburgh Headache Center, chief of the headache division, Robert Kaniecki, you might start looking at your triggers as individual risk factors for bringing on a migraine. According Robert Kaniecki, assistant professor of neurology, you should figure out what your migraine threshold is — what combination of those aggravating circumstances it takes to produce a migraine attack for you.

In this article, I have a list of 10 potential migraine triggers for you. This is all important because paying attention to the various triggers that are going on simultaneously can lead to better migraine control. Find out 10, out of the many triggers of migraine..

1) Dehydration

People most times overlook dehydration as a migraine trigger. Dehydration can occur in cold weather as well as during the summer. Dehydration is the result of excessive loss of water from the body i.e when we lose more water than we take in. If you lose as little as 1 or 2% of body weight in fluid, it can result in dehydration, which in turn can become migraine trigger.

Mild dehydration can be treated by drinking fluids including sports drinks, while severe dehydration must be treated instantly as a medical emergency. Hospital treatment is required for IV fluids to rehydrate more efficiently and quickly and for observation.

2) Too much or too little sleep

Sleep pattern has been identified as a migraine trigger. Many people find that sleeping in or dozing in the mornings can trigger migraine and some found that sleepless nights, late nights, over-tiredness can be a migraine trigger too. It is important to keep a migraine diary, to monitor just the amount of sleep that won't trigger your migraine.

3) Lights

Light is another migraine trigger. Though it may not be possible to control all lighting in your environment, you can make your surroundings more bearable by better understanding how light can impact migraine.

Migraine sufferers are generally more sensitive to triggers like light, than the average person. According to Robert Kaniecki, MD, director of The Headache Center at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, “The migraine brain is fundamentally sensitive to multiple different sensory stimuli.”

Nairaland GeneralTwo Female Suicide, One Of Them Is 15 Years, Bombers Kill 20 People In Potiskum by Seandeeds(op): 12:20pm On Jan 12, 2015
Boko haram news - Two female suicide bombers have yesterday blown themselves up at Kasuwar Jagwal GSM market in the commercial capital of Potiskum, Yobe State, killing over 20 people, in the assault. One of the young girls was aged about 15.

According to residents, the crowded market was invaded by the boko haram suicide bombers at about 3pm and detonated their Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs.

According to reports, the death toll could rise as some of the injured are likely to die as a result of loss of too much blood.

In another incident earlier on Saturday, two people were killed when a car exploded outside a police station in Potiskum.

A security official told AFP news: “We evacuated six bodies including those of the two female suicide bombers to the hospital, 21 people were injured in the attacks.

“One of the bombers looked 23 and the other 15.

“The first bomber — the 23 year-old — detonated her explosives just outside the entrance of the market, where volunteers were screening people going inside the market with metal detectors.

“The second bomber was terrified by the explosion and she tried to dash across the road but she also exploded.”

Both the security official and a nurse at the Potiskum General Hospital said six people were confirmed dead and 21 injured.

Witness Ibrahim Dambam said the second blast went off as people fled the first.

Sunday is Potiskum’s market day and attracts traders and shoppers from all over Yobe State and beyond.

Panicked shoppers fled and traders abandoned their stalls at both the mobile phone market and the city’s main market, which is just next door.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the latest attacks but suspicion is likely to fall on Boko Haram, which have increasingly used female suicide bombers since last June.

Some security analysts believe that older women may willingly become human bombs as they share the Islamists’ radical ideology or are out to avenge the death of loved ones at the hands of the military.

But the young ages of some of the bombers — such as the girl in Maiduguri — and the actions of the 15-year-old in Potiskum suggest that coercion is being used.

A civilian vigilante who witnessed the Maiduguri bombing said of the young bomber: “I doubt if she actually knew what was strapped to her body.”

Another eye-witness said it appeared that the bomb was remote-controlled, which chimes with testimony from other attacks across the wider north of Nigeria.
PoliticsNorthern Leaders Could Withdraw Support For General Buhari Over Health Concerns by Seandeeds(op): 10:48am On Jan 11, 2015
According to reports, prominent Nigerian northern leaders who have hitherto, declared their support for General Muhammadu Buhari, have been reconsidering their stance. Rumours have been going round that Buhari might be suffering a serious health issues.

It was reported by many news channels that General Buhari collapsed during a presidential campaign rally in Calabar, Cross River State, a situation that was swiftly denied by the All Progressives Congress (APC) party.

That did not stop the top hierarchy of the Northern from convening series of meetings, to review the situation. Sunday Tribune reveals that the northern leaders seriously do not a repeat of what happened with President Jonathan and his former boss, the late Musa Yar'Adua. People got wind of Yar'Adua's illness during the campaign, but still went ahead with the elections, which he won, only to die in office.

A source reveals, “The North is beginning to rethink the promised support for Buhari in view of reports that he is suffering from a certain ailment which is believed to be wearing him down. There are also reports that the elders are pushing to cut a deal with Jonathan to complete his tenure in 2019 but extract a promise that power would be returned to the North via a younger and energetic Northerner.”

Again, the APC have come out to defend their flagbearer. An APC spokesman for the South-East, Comrade Osita Okechukwu, dismissed the notion that General Buhari is ill. His words, “They are only trying to dig up what is non-existent; no record of their claim. The General has his doctor and anyone can contact him, rather than speculate.”

A Northern politician said at the weekend that the North was still suffering from the effect of Alhaji Yar’Adua’s death in office, adding that it would be unfair to the North to risk the situation once again.

A northern source reveals, “There were reports that Yar’Adua was ill before he was picked by former President Olusegun Obasanjo for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket. We saw the crisis coming but we believed that only God determines how long a human being will live. It would be bad for the North to have power return to the South-West barely ten years after Obasanjo spent eight unbroken years in Aso Rock.”

He believed that cutting a deal for 2019 is the best for the North, as they would have enough time to pick a strong candidate.

“If anything happens to Buhari, power will return to the South-West less than a decade after President Obasanjo left Aso Rock. The prospects are grim, both for the North and even the South-East that is queuing for their own turn,” another Northern leader at the weekend.

It was reported that it was one of this issues discussed when President Goodluck Jonathan paid a visit to the Hilltop home of former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida. Reports say the details of Buhari’s health might have prompted the former military president to announce his support for president Jonathan.
Nairaland GeneralCouple Found Dead On Christmas Day In What Could Be A Suicide Pact by Seandeeds(op): 3:03pm On Dec 27, 2014
As everyone was celebrating the birth of Jesus on Christmas day, the police were called to a particular address, where a 33 year old man and a 30 year old woman lived in Billingshurst, West Sussex. Apparently, their two dead bodies were lying in their £280,000 house, in what appeared to be a suicide pact.
It took the visit of a concerned relative to discover their dead bodies. The deceased couple, known as Jan and Julia, were thought to be suffering from some serious financial troubles. According to local neighbours, they seem normal like every other family, with two children aged five and seven. The man is believed to have hanged himself, but police could not say how 30-year-old mum Julia had died.

According to an anonymous local resident: "They were a very private couple but we would always speak to them over the fence when we saw them and we would sometimes wash the cars together.

"They were very nice people. We used to receive Christmas cards from them and my wife spoke to them over the fence on Christmas Eve."

She went further: "They always seemed like a happy couple, but you never really know, do you?

"There were various rumours going around about them being in financial trouble."

The anonymous neighbour also revealed that couple had left the kids with at a relatives over Christmas. The police are not revealing anything yet and insisted that no one is being suspected at this time. They did not disclose if any suicide note note had been left behind, by the dead couple.
A Sussex Police statement reads: "Emergency services were called to a house in Groomsland Drive, Billingshurst, just after 9am on Thursday (25 December) after concerns for a couple there.

"A 33-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were sadly found dead in the property."Officers are working to establish the circumstances of the death but are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident."

Nairaland GeneralScientists Find Tablets With Messages From God On Mars, Find Out What God Wants by Seandeeds(op): 1:38am On Dec 22, 2014
It was announced that NASA's Curiosity Rover has found an unambiguous message from God written on tablets in a Martian cave. NASA released an official statement that two giant stone slabs, equivalent to the size of small elephants were located deep inside a cavern abutting Aeolis Mons, a large mountain.

One one of the tablets is written, a copy of the Ten Commandments and the text of John 3:16 written in 12 languages, including English, Spanish, Chinese, Basque and Hebrew. On the other tablet is a simple message in English reading "I am real."

Scientists who have studied the tablets have revealed that Christianity is a true religion. Syms Covington, an Australian researcher with NASA said: "This is amazing, we went into the cave looking for water, and we found proof of God's existence instead.

"I mean how else did those tablets get there? I can tell you one thing: there's not a single atheist inside NASA's control room now. What we saw was jaw-dropping."
Nairaland GeneralKanye West Sends Time Capsule To Aliens In Space As Christmas Gift by Seandeeds(op): 2:43pm On Dec 20, 2014
It’s Kanye West in the news again. This time, the hip-hop star has launched a rocket into space, containing a time capsule aiming to communicate with aliens. He said: “I know where they are and who better to represent planet Earth than me?.” “It’s my Christmas gift to the world, the galaxy, the universe, to all of existence.”

According to the Daily Currant, the project took two years to complete, gulping a whooping $65 million. It was successfully launched in Okhotsk, Russia at 1:34pm VLAT time zone and was aimed towards the Andromeda Galaxy.

On hand to witness the launch was the entire West family. Kanye said he was nervous during the launch. His words: “I was a little nervous, you never know with those Russian rockets. If it was a Kanye built rocket, there wouldn’t be a need to be nervous.”

The aim of the rocket launch is for the West family to expand to the universe and beyond. He believes he is now officially timeless. He thinks when the capsule is eventually opened, even in a million years, they will know that Kanye West is the greatest artiste of all time.

The capsule contains locket of hair from his wife, Kim Kardashian, and the preserved umbilical cord from his daughter, North West. Items in the capsule also includes a letter detailing his life, thought and philosophy.

Nairaland GeneralAPC Chose Prof Osinbajo Because Of “crap” Called Religion – Banky W by Seandeeds(op): 12:36pm On Dec 18, 2014
Foremost R&B crooner, Banky W, has rubbished the choice of Prof Osinbajo has the vice presidential candiadate of the All Peoples Congress (APC). He said the only reason reason he was chosen over Fashola is because of the “crap” called religion. He said religion has robbed the opposition party of fielding Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, who he described as more eminently qualified than Osinbajo.

His words: “It (Buhari’s running mate) should be Fashola. They use religion as a tool to control us. I don’t care about my leader’s tribe, religion, or whatever jargon they keep feeding us. Zoning ‘religioning’ are all crap. Who cares if Fashola is a Muslim? Didn’t we vote him into power in Lagos? Did the fact that he’s a muslim affect the way he lead the state?

“They brainwash us into thinking these things (religion, tribe) really matter and then we wonder why we’re still here facing the same problems as a nation. We wonder why people still kill each other in places like Jos.

“Some of my mentors, clients, business partners and colleagues are from different tribes and religions than mine. What difference does it make? I don’t choose who to do business with based on if they’re from my village. I don’t choose who to associate with based on their religion,” Banky W said on Twitter.

We remember in 1993, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) fielded a Muslim/Muslim ticket, in the late chief MKO Abiola and Alhaji Baba Gana Kingibe, in an election that is still seen and the freest and fairest election ever conducted in Nigeria. It did not deter people from voting for SDP, even in the south west, as they had a landslide victory.

I am not sure why GMB chose Osinbajo. Whatever the reason is, I hope it’s a good one.

Nairaland GeneralA 24-day-old Baby Dies After Being Kissed By An Adult With Herpes Virus by Seandeeds(op): 7:39pm On Dec 06, 2014
Baby Eloise was born on November 1, via caesarean at Mackay Hospital in far north Queensland, Australia. The unfortunate is she died last week in the arms of her parents, after coming in contact with someone with a cold sore. Parents, Sarah Pugh, 28, and Douglas Lampton, 35, were so devastated by the loss of their beloved baby.

Baby Eloise died 24 days after she was born. She was unknowingly infected with herpes simplex virus, after a few days in the hospital. Hospital doctors initially thought it was a feeding issue, but her health deteriorated so quickly that she lost a kilo in a week after her birth. She was quickly rushed to the Brisbane Mater Hospital and was placed on a machine to keep her alive. Doctors tried frantically to find out what was wrong with her.

After two days on the machine, doctors informed Eloise’s parents, that it was the herpes virus causing their daughter’s illness. Of course the parents were shocked and sad. The mother did not test positive to the disease, which was passed on to to the baby through cold sore.

Herpes virus is a virus the can be contracted only when you are in contact – kissed or touched a carrier.

P.S. Please like, tweet and share this post so people can learn from the unfortunate experience of this Australian couple. Doctors have advised that you should not allow you babies to be kissed on the lips by adults, because of their underdeveloped immune system.

Nairaland GeneralLawyer Locked My UK Immigration Application In His Drawer For Two Years For Sex by Seandeeds(op): 12:57pm On Nov 20, 2014
A few days ago, I got another mail from a reader. She detailed her ordeal in the hands of the lawyer that was handling her immigration issue. Below is her story

Firstly, let me thank you for allowing people to write in their stories so others can learn. This is good. Well, I'm a lady and I'm in my very early thirties. I entered the UK in 2007, with a 6 month tourist visa, otherwise known as visiting visa. As you would guess, I did not go back to my country after the expiration of the six months. As a result, I became illegal.
Life became very hard for me in every angle. Working has been difficult for me, even from day one. Now, I can't even open my front door without peeping through the front window to know who's there.

I can't forget a day when a young white kid punched me on the face, for no reason. It happened on my way to Woolwich from Bexleyheath, on bus 96. I couldn't fight back or report him to the police, I basically did nothing. This is part of the things illegal immigrants go through in the UK. It is very sad.

Back to my story, I started working at a restaurant after the expiration of my tourist visa. As you would expect, my boss knew my story, he made me work from 6am to 11pm, Monday to Saturday, on £3.50 per hour.
In fairness to my boss, he did not owe me money as he paid me on time. The bad side is you have only 30 min break, do the maths.
I had nothing in the world but that job. I could not do anything to develop myself because there was no time for anything else.
I was on that job for more than two years before I fell ill. I had to go impersonate a friend so I could see a doctor. That's when I was placed on some medication and a month bed rest. That's the problem, the job is pay as you go, no work no pay.
After one month, my boss told me I could not have my job back. I pleaded but he won't bulge. I could not report him to the government. That's what happens when you don't have papers.
I started having problems with my landlord because of the rent. Eventually I had to move out because I could not risk him calling the police.
I moved in with a guy I met at work. He took me in because of the free sex, though I did not realise that initially. At least, I didn't have to sleep on the streets. After about 2 months and with the guy's help, I got another job as a cleaner at the London underground. The money wasn't the best, but it's better that the naija restaurant.
I decided to see a lawyer after I managed to save up some money from the new job. The lawyer was an African, from my country. He charged me £1,500, promising to help me. I paid half of the money during our second meeting. Soon he started asking me out. I politely told him I'm in a serious relationship, if only I knew better. He mount so much pressure on me that I threatened to report him. He relaxed and I thought he had let sleeping dog lie. After a few months, I asked if he had heard from the Home Office. He said no. To cut the story short, I waited for 2 long years.
During one of my numerous visits to his office in Camberwell, London, the receptionist came to meet me at the loo, that's when she told me everything. She said she overheard him telling another colleague that my application was still in his office drawer. He bragged that he must sleep with me before processing it. She told me she had to verify, so she was sure of what she was telling me.
I did not know whether to cry or to just start laughing. I started laughing. So I wasted 2 years of my life thing I would soon be sorted, at least whatever the outcome. What about the risks I started taking, thinking I had an application with them, so I'm immune.
Like that was not enough, the guy I lived with for over two years was actually married with 3 kids back in Nigeria. My whole life finished right before it even started in the UK.
Back to the lawyer issue, I sought advice at the Citizens Advice Bureau, I took my file from the lawyer. I now have my application with the home office now, with the confirmation. I did not leave without placing a curse on him though.

That's my story. I just felt someone might gain a thing or two from it.

This is another story out of many we hear everyday in the UK. Some solicitors, especially from Africa are mere touts. No doubt, we have some many of them that are so great at what they do. If you are experiencing things like this, do not keep quiet, seek advice. It's only that fear won't let victims explore the options they have.

It is probably an irony. I meant all they wanna do is work, pay their taxes and feed their family. Some are out there doing fraud and all. That's where the 'honest and hardworking' came in.

What an irony. How can someone be an "illegal" immigrant and be a "honest" immigrant at the same time?
Travel10 Things UK Illegal Immigrants Cannot Do - Is UK That Worth It Anymore? by Seandeeds(op): 1:31pm On Nov 17, 2014
Lives of UK illegal Immigrants is increasingly difficult. The government is making it harder for them to live a decent life. This is very sad for the honest and hard working people who unfortunately belong to this group.
The UK is a great country. It is a country where you can live your dream. Great environment, political stability, great social infrastructure, these are some of the necessities of life you enjoy if you live in the UK. While you enjoy all these, to the UK illegal Immigrants, living the UK dream is just fantasy.

It can be a sad and horrifying experience, being restricted. Take for instance, where claiming what otherwise should have been your basic entitlement isn't possible, you would wanna go crazy.
The purpose of this post is just for intending over-stayers and probably new over-stayers to think twice.

There are some things you do not have access to as illegal immigrant. Below is just ten of those things

1) Bank Account
UK illegal Immigrants do not have the right to open bank accounts. A bank account is necessary for various reasons, such as work, bills payment, rent payment and more. Part of the requirements for opening an account is your identification document, which is mostly your international passport, driving licence etc. You may not have these things if you are not documented immigration wise.

2) National Insurance Number
A national insurance number is a set of digits and letters issued by the HMR for the purpose if calculating your pension and any other stuff. It is compulsory requirement for getting a job in the UK.

To apply for this they will require your passport, proof of address and evidences that you are actively seeking employment or on a job.

READ ALSO: 3 Things To Do When You First Get To The UK

3) Government Accommodation
There are times when things can really be hard and the council will come to your rescue. Without the necessary immigration papers, you cannot apply for a flat or anything at all. That's why most times you find mums with 2 or 3 kids living in one room accommodation. It may not be true in all cases, but most of them fall into this category. Trying to do this through the back door is illegal and you could go to jail for it.

4) Job
The law is clear on this, no undocumented person is allowed to work in the UK. It doesn't mean they are not in employment, we read the papers everyday. They work in constant fear. If a policeman walks into their workplace innocently, you can begin to imagine how they will disappear stylishly.
Again, the jobs you can do are very limited. That's why graduates work in the kitchen and toilets and others.

5) Driving
Without the right papers in the UK, you cannot apply for your driving licence. The easiest way to get caught by the police and immigration officials is driving without your papers, God help you if they should flag you down.
The first thing they ask is your driving licence. If you can not produce any or they investigate and they are not genuine, they arrest you straight up. If you do not have your papers yet, it's not advisable to start driving.

6) Benefits
As an undocumented immigrant, you are not entitled to any public fund whatsoever. If you lose your job, you are on your own till you manage to get another one, unlike those who are legal. It's a sorry situation, to be honest. When you work, you pay taxes. If you lose the job, you can't get any help from the government. Other benefits like housing, working tax credit and many more are not available to anyone without papers.

7) School
You probably know someone who is not legal and yet has a university degree here in the UK. What about those who tried the same backdoor but got caught? Under the law, you can't go to school or do anything that can add value to your life.

cool Rent Through Agents
With the recent law mandating landlords to verify prospective tenants it's becoming more and more difficult for those without papers to rent comfortable houses and flats, especially through lettings agents. You are suppose to provide a proof of identity which should be your international passport. It has always been the general practice, only that it's now a law.

9) Buying A house
I want to talk about this in two parts. Firstly, without any reasonable job, how do you get the money to pay for a mortgage? Secondly, how do you identify yourself? It's a tall dream for an immigrant without papers to buy a house, at least legally. Any other way will see you breaking the law.

10) Vote
As an immigrant you must must the right papers to vote and be voted for. UK illegal Immigrants cannot register to vote, join a political party or stand an election. Personally, I see this right as the height of human freedom. Why would you wanna risk this great right? As a citizen of this world, wherever you find yourself, in the form of a country, you should be able to have your say in the affairs of your state.

Conclusion
This post is not to discourage anybody from coming to settle in the UK. I am just trying to let you guys know what happens when you do not do it right. People need to know these things so they can make more wise decisions.
We'll be deceiving ourselves if we say some people do not come in, with the intention of over staying their tourist visas, which of course is illegal. My advice is if you are one of such, consult your solicitor immediately.

Nairaland General5 Jobs You Are Likely To Do First In The UK by Seandeeds(op): 8:33pm On Nov 01, 2014
Most people travel to the UK daily, with the sole intention of coming to hustle. It is not news how it happens as I won't go into that. If you are in the UK to struggle, it's possible you are not documented. Not having the right papers in the UK is a big limitation. Without it, everything else is irrelevant. Your certificate, work experience etc is all garbage.
You'll have to make do with whatever you can get, job wise. You will celebrate the early morning cleaning job your cousin got you.
With the limitation, you really don't have many options regarding choice of job. You are most likely to get one of the five jobs listed below as your first job in the UK. You should know all these so you can make informed decisions before embarking on the trip. See list....

1) Security
This sector is peculiar to Nigerians and Asians, it is common among immigrants generally in the UK. Most people who are new in the country would do this job.
As a black man, wearing a black suit, people will easily mistake you for a security officer. While some people are not doing badly on the job, those who do not have the rights immigration papers would have to settle for the other side of the job.
I said the other side because some employers capitalise on their employees immigration status to exploit them.
The basic rate in the UK is around £6.50 but those employers pay as low as £3.00 and they pay cash. With those kind of jobs, you can do as many hours as you want in a week. To make it worse, they don't even pay on time, it is very sad.
It's not all sad news as some security officers command up to £15.00 an hour. Depending on experience and training.

I strongly recommend this job for students as it gives time to read and do all your assignments and coursework at work.

2) Care work
This is a job that requires you to help those who have difficulties in carrying out their daily activities. They include children, old people and others with learning disabilities.
If you enter our hospitals and nursing homes today, you'll understand what I'm talking about. Immigrants abound in this sector. As new immigrants, this is one of the jobs you are likely to do first. The requirements is just some two week training and you are good to go.
In some quarters, care work is classified as job for immigrants. The pay is not encouraging as well. On the average, most care workers earn the basic rate of pay which £6.50 per hour. It could involve carrying poos, packing vomits, bathing them and many more. It is about helping the vulnerable people generally.

Nairaland GeneralRead How Nigerian Bosses In The UK Treat Fellow Nigerians Like Slaves by Seandeeds(op): 2:13pm On Oct 27, 2014
I read a story on here, about a guy who lost his wife to some guy in the UK. The story touched me so much that I decided to write in my own experience, in the hands of some Nigerian bosses in the UK.

The worst thing that can happen to you in the UK is to have a Nigerian boss. I'm not saying this to demonise Nigerians here, it's just the simple truth. After all, I'm a Nigerian myself. It's a problem with Africans generally.

Some Nigerian bosses and business owners won't give you jobs in the UK, if you have the right papers. The reason simply being that you will be able to claim your rights, if they cheat you in any way. They will cheat you and tell you to go call the police.

My story

I've had three Nigerian bosses in this country and they were the worst. How wicked can some people be?
I came into this country nine years ago, on a six month tourist visa. Back in Nigeria, I had a good job, working with one of the multinational companies.

I must confess, it was my greatest mistake. Life in the UK isn't worth it at all, especially if you are on my kind of visa. You have to experience it, to believe what I am saying.

Back home, I had seen how people would come from Europe looking good and apparently living a great life. I never knew it was all make-believe. I made a vow with myself and God that my kids will not go through everything I've been through. I decided to travel out of the country, in search of the better life. Nobody told me of the other side of Europe.

I came in, full of hope and ambition. An old friend picked me up at the airport. As we were driving back home, seeing clean cars on the road, everything beautiful, I thought it was all rosy.
The first reality hit me when I accompanied another friend to his evening cleaning job (key job), that was my second day in London.

I couldn't believe my eyes, when I saw an Obafemi Awolowo University graduate, clearing cups on office tables, sweeping and mopping toilets. I had to ask if I'm gonna be doing the same. He just laughed and walked away. There and then I made the big mistake by silencing the thoughts of going back to my job in Nigeria, as I had not resigned.

Nairaland GeneralVisiting UK From Nigeria: When It Becomes Stupid by Seandeeds(op): 11:49am On Oct 22, 2014
Visiting UK from Nigeria and other non EU countries can be very expensive and hectic. The whole visa process is a separate topic on its own.
Considering this, the ultimate experience is therefore vital. If you are a regular traveler, this may not be appropriate for you, but for people visiting the UK for the very first time or you come in occasionally, you should read this.

I've had many reasons to wonder why some people just throw money down the drain. It's not even like some can really afford the trip to the UK, it's all about travelling at all cost.

I was at a friend's recently and what I saw inspired me to write this post. My friend had some visitors from Nigeria, a family of four came to visit, they claimed to be on a holiday.

They spent the entire two weeks at my friend's house. They only visited the local high street (Bromley) and the shopping mall there. That wasn't the first time I would see something like that. It's happened to me too. I had to drag the guy out of the house to go see London. He thanked me afterwards.

To be honest, spending thousands of pounds on travelling to the UK from Nigeria, only to come hide yourself somewhere in south London doesn't make sense to me. It's a waste of money....Simple.
How can you have the best stay in the UK? How can you make sure everything about your journey is well planned?
What are the little things you forget to put in place when you are travelling? It's simple, if you consider the few points listed below carefully, you will have the ultimate experience when next you visit UK and any other country.

1) Accommodation
You should plan your accommodation very well, it is very important. Do a proper research, even before you apply for your visa.
Plan your accommodation around the places you wanna visit and not the other way round. If you want to do a reservation, be creative about it. If the reservation is being done on your behalf, give them specific instructions.

If you want to stay with friends and relatives, you should be proactive. Pick the most central of all available options. You don't book a hotel close to Heathrow, when all your places of interest are in East London.
Seek help if you run into any trouble doing this. I can not emphasize this enough, Sort your accommodation out before coming to the UK. Don't spend such a huge amount of money and several hours in the air to come beg for accommodation in the UK.
