Jumping off a sinking ship as predicted |
Please let's not start this month with this tribal rubbish. |
All these newspapers acting like tabloids. What's the crisis in this. |
Of what use is putting up pictures of injured people on the internet. The only reason I hate this forum. |
So the mother did not die in the fire. I wonder what the mother was doing far away from a 8 day old baby. |
Dongreat:Will you people ever stop comparing Nigeria with the Western world? They have their own peculiar problems. We have ours. They have an already existing structure that works for them. Comparing Nigeria and the Western world is like comparing automatic transmission with manual. The former doesn't need the driver to change gears, while the latter requires your conscious effort anytime you need to go increase speed. |

The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has expressed his administration’s preparedness to prioritize bursary and scholarship awards to students in the 2017 fiscal year. Governor Ahmed said this commitment is in view of the need to support Kwara State indigenes studying in tertiary institutions across the country and in recognition of his administration’s emphasis on education. The governor added that this will also encourage the beneficiary students to excel in their education as the scholarship will be merit based, according to statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Dr. Muyideen Akorede. Alhaji Ahmed stated that in the 2017 budget proposal, which is currently before the State House of Assembly, the sum of N500m is earmarked for bursaries, while N450m is allocated for scholarship awards. According to the governor, once the budget is passed by the House and signed into law, the State government will begin the phased disbursement of the bursary and scholarship. Governor Ahmed noted that in a departure from previous practice, the government has obtained lists of students of Kwara State origin in all tertiary institutions in Nigeria, which according to him will form the basis of direct payment to the beneficiary students. Alhaji Ahmed said that the State government could not pay bursary last year due to the financial situation in the country, but commended the students for their patience and maturity. https://insidekwaramagazine./2017/02/21/kwara-budgets-n950m-for-bursaries-and-scholarships/ |
With the recent alarming increase of reported sexual abuse allegations, now is the time to talk about things that parents can do to reduce the risk of their children being assaulted. People are beginning to understand and talk about how sex offenders can be a friend or a family member. It can be anybody, so parents need to be very observant and take note of potential signals. Now that we are more aware of the problem as a society, we need to take steps to protect children from further abuse. With this in mind, here are ten practical ways to protect your children from predators. Encourage Your Kids To Talk To You About Their Day Children cannot be expected to understand when it is okay to say “no” to or run away from an adult. This would be too confusing. Instead, build trust by regularly talking to them about their day. Make them feel comfortable raising any topic. Then, if your kids report any unacceptable behavior by others to you, it is your responsibility to take action. Become Educated On Sexual Abuse Did you know 1 out of 6 girls will be molested by the age of 18? Did you know that the typical sexual predator will assault 117 times before being caught? Get familiar with the facts. It is vital for you to educate yourself about sexual abuse. A good place to start is reading books and articles on sexual abuse. Once again, it is your responsibility to protect your kids. Look For “Red Flags” Sex offenders often “groom” parents and children to gain their trust. They can be very slick and fool you into thinking they are trustworthy, but there is always a “red flag” that is just a little bit unusual. For instance, if an adult in your neigbourhood has many toys and video games in his house and several local kids go there every day, this is a possible red flag. If he doesn’t seem to have any adult friends or activities, this is a bigger red flag. Check this person out. Have a conversation with him, if possible. If you don’t seem convinced, report him to the authorities. Know Where Your Children Are And Who They Are With At All Times Know your children’s friends and their parents. Make sure they are reliable before you allow your child to spend time at their house. Make Sure There Is More Than One Adult For Groups Of Youth There should always be more than one adult with any group of children. If possible offer to join activities for youth. Get to know other adults organizing youth activities well. Adults should confront any suspicious activity of another adult. Don’t just let it slide. It’s difficult, but these things need to be discussed openly. Secrecy and difficulty talking about these topics are a sex offender’s best friends. Teach Children That The Danger May Come From Someone They Trust Tell your kids, “Bad touch is bad touch and no one gets to do it to our bodies. If anyone does bad touch, you go to a grown up for help. When you are not sure about whether something a grown up is doing is okay, ask another grown up to help you.” Find Therapy For Victims All victims of sexual abuse should have easy access to therapy. If your child is a victim, please seek the help of professionals for therapy. This is very important for the child. Understand The Signs Abuse is not usually as obvious as broken bones or bruises. Adults should be knowledgeable about the signs that children are in need of counseling. These signs might be significant changes in sleeping, eating, mood, or strange behavior that does not quickly go away. Take Action If You Suspect Abuse If you suspect that your kids have been abused, you need to contact the Police or Department of Social Services where you live. These departments will investigate the alleged abuse and take the proper action. Citizens should not conduct their own investigations. I met this man once on pope John Paul Street maitama. Very sociable and intelligent. I didnt even know he was the one until someone called him. he saw the fear in me when I got to know his identity. He just smiled and we continued discussion from where he stopped. A complete contrast of what I used to know about him. Not saying he's not guilty of accusations against him though. |
They should see this through to a logical end. |
sapiosexual1:Yes I agree with you. But I think things are beginning to pick up and Nigerians are more interested in locally made goods and services. We should not be importing what we can produce here in Nigeria. After attaining self sufficiency to some extent we can then begin to export. Nigeria at the moment is not tapping into her potentials as a west African leader . Its a huge market |
Thank God for her. But she got best medical service too. Imagine if it were to be a random Nigerian in the village. We need well equipped hospitals in this country. |
This is the part that scares. The military in stead of celebrating the recovery of Ground Zero should have focused on blocking those fleeing ground zero from entering villages close to the forest. This will be done simultaneously. But I doubt our military has the capability to execute such operation. |
sapiosexual1:From what I know, I dont think the FG is owing Innosson money. IVM recently returned some cash to the FG after it was unable to deliver all the vehicles requested. |
This is good. I believe we should one day be able to cater for our military hardware from within. In a country with so many security challenges like Nigeria, the armoured vehicles business will thrive for people in that line. |
"The court has decided to give her a life sentence and a fine of 60 million riel to be put in the national budget," I love this part. But according to Cambodian laws, they tempered justice with mercy. Sorry for her though |
He will soon be tested. Every American President do have situations that test their judgment skills. |
Saw this online from 2009 The owner of a club in Ibadan called Options 24/7, Babatunde Iyiola a.k.a. Shef and the fraudulent Ibadan big boy; Nero may have taken their enmity to another level if there is no quick interference. You will recall that Nero who is deep in love with Pastor Abiara’s daughter, Leah, was once accused of spreading ugly rumour about the sale of the hottest watering hole in Ibadan at the moment, Options 24/7. On this ground, Shef, we were informed, declared persona non granter to Nero and his cohorts at his club. One of the allegations leveled on Nero is the fetish substance Nero was said to have prepared to sprinkle on the ground so as to cause setbacks for the very flourishing and bubbling nightclub, but for God who exposed his act through divine intervention, the club would have become a thing of the past. When Shef got wind of Nero’s diabolical moves, he positioned his security men to deny Nero, Leah or any of his notorious gang members an access to his pub. This, we much gathered, led to Nero securing a hospitality haven for himself. Though, the said newly acquired relaxation bar which was said to have been solely financed by Leah, according to one of Nero’s aides, was only on lease by Nero for three years as against the rumour he’s been spreading in town that he bought the franchise. Why is this on front page? Why bring something that wishes our president dead to the front page? I just dont get it. |
Looking at this picture, theres something that strikes me. He relative peace they enjoy in the UK. Head of UK Police cannot come and be pocketing on the streets of Abuja like a normal citizen. This should spur our policymakers to create good institutions and make systems work in this county. |
emmasege:Your observation is right. Politics and sentiments aside, Saraki has been able to set good agenda for the Senate. In fact the Senate is active, responsive to the yearnings of the people. From stopping the proposed hike in data price to investigations into the plight of IDPs which brought up the issue of 248million grass cutting contract. |
shaqhead:I'm not saying he should hold on to power. But the opposition in that country should not have behaved like kids. For someone that has been in power for 22years to willingly concede to defeat. I think the opposition should have acted well, and we won't have this situation on our hands. |
Even a madman has followers. I disconnected from a friend after he told me a prophet made them swallow sand. ![]() |
