As far as I know, this NCDMB recruitment will be one of the best so far for the average Nigerian because of these few reasons

1. It was not widespread, even until now, a whole lot of people are not aware, they even had to extend deadline by some days, someone here even said they were still advertising for some slots on their site after deadline.
2. They just finished a massive 17 storey office complex in Yenegoa which is completely empty and would need to be filled up by people like you and I.
3. There will be connection based entry, but it will be nothing compared to what will happen if it were NNPC, dpr or the other obviously big establishments.

So we are among the lucky few to be part of this process...Keep the spirits high...Expect the best...

Above all, Guard your heart because you will hear a lot of misleading information here on nairaland...

Oga the way you are going on about this your pro merit activism is rather not it, allow people to shield themselves from the rocky terrain that is the Nigerian labour market especially as it relates to Federal govt recruitments. It has become a coping mechanism for applicant's mental health from the jungle out here, because for some people their grades/age already puts them at a disadvantage in the private sector.

There's no one here that will not want to be a recipient/beneficiary of whatever the percentage slots of the merit candidates are. Because at the end of the day, the vast majority of us don't know anybody and as such we're only putting our hope on that. One thing we must not do is lie to ourselves or downplay the fact that connection plays a major role in federal government recruitments and that already stacks the odds against the numerous candidates who don't know anybody.

Most of us here have participated in one or numerous govt recruitments and we all know what the popular outcome has always been, we only continue applying because we are hoping for that breakthrough. Personally, I have learnt that a lot of people will be shouting merit while pressing buttons in the background and that was evident in my time on the dpr thread where people were shouting merit up and down, but at the end of the day the story was different.

This is not to dampen anyone's spirit, but just to let us know not to swallow every tale of merit with hook, line and sinker. And all the best to everyone in their endeavors and also in the course of the recruitment process.

So we should start discussing connection here na, get my point clear, ur shouting connection, connection. That will not help any body here. How will u feel if a doctor tell u dat the chances of surviving what is disturbing is low, will it dampen ur spirit? And how will u feel if another doctor tell u dat what is disturbing u is a small tin to handle? Will dat lighting ur spirit? The power of the mind is very strong, if u give urself hope, u achieve great tins, but if u lose hope before the fight, u can never win.

I dont care wat happen at the end after all not every one will get the job, but dont kill any body fighting spirit. Some times connection dont work d way u think. Let me tell u some tin that happen within this covid-19 period. Because of the fear of the outbreak of covid-19 in offshore facilities, my company have to tell many of us to stop work. My back to back is from the same community with the HR of my company and he is very close to the HR. He is the one that give me information of wat is going on. But to my surprise the company call me first to resume now that tins has normalised and he has not been called with his closeness and connection to the HR. Most times ur performance speak more than ur connection.

Am not saying there is no connection. If u have worked in a private company, u find out that there more connection and man know man in the private company than the goverment company. But am not an advocate of connection. Because there are thousands of people out there lik me who dont have connection and i cant kill their fighting spirit. What i preach is "fight for it, u will get it, dont demoralise urself with the connection of others u already have the greatest connection in the world - God " am not forcing any body to accept my preaching, but that is what i preach. I give realistic hope to people.

Thank u

You are right. Those shouting merit were the ones giving firsthand information. They ended up getting dpr job. Infact one of them said she met her appointment letter on the dinning table, a dpr boss brought it when she was not around. It is well.

70% connection, lie, lie, lie. U just dey talk as if u be the HR. Na connection u take get that ur work?

Let me tell u some thing about federal goverment recruitment that u may not know. Federal goverment uses quarter system. They may take 20 or15 person from each state as the case may be. If u are from a state with more applicant, it becomes difficult for u and if u are from a state with few applicant, it becomes easy for u to get the job. Now let me give u live situation. In 2006 after my OND, NNPC advertise must of us with distinction and upper credit apply for the trainee operator position. Two of my course mate from Ebonyi state got the job, they are in warri refinery till today, . In 2010 NNPC advertise again, now we have graduated and most of us apply again. My friend from bayelsa and his elder brother got the job. He is in PH refinery. All this people did not have any connection, the question is, how many people from ebonyi or bayelsa state have upper credit or distinction that wrote NNPC aptitude test and pass? Very few, so they have more chance of getting the job compare to me and others from delta state. The competition is high in delta, u have to be the best. So if u are from delta state, u will be shouting connection, connection that is making u not to get the job. For NNPC, i will tell u that merit is more than connect, go and ask very well.

Note also that for 90% of connection to work for you, u have to meet the required qualification to apply for the job, and u have to pass the aptitude test so dat ur connection can have mouth to speak for u. If u fail aptitude test woefully, ur connection will be ashame to speak for u and that is why most people with connection are not getting the job.

Now let me expose those who are claiming that they have connection. Those with connection, tell us when the aptitude test will be coducted? Ask ur connection and tell us, those that ES has promise job, please ask ES and tell us. Nobody go answer the question ooo. Just watch.

Friend please prepare for the test if u are shortlisted and u will come here to share the good news

I have gone through your profile, I saw you applied for dpr 2016. So what happened there? They did not pick merit or what?

The site had up to 145k visitors last I checked. So you can't really predict the number of applicant.
And I noticed here on Nairaland that majority of the applicants are EH.
The figure is still very low, you can't compare this to NNPC, dpr or FIRS recruitment. Remember among the 145k, there is someone that visited more than 100 times like me, the overaged, unmatched courses, those with lower class of degree and those that applied just for application sake etc.

The code numbers of those who couldn't make it to the CBT is now a saving grace for those who didn't apply but coming from the Presidential Villa again to get the replacement slots. They call it replacement..
I was unemployed for years before God showed me mercy and blessed with me with a very good job. I know how it feels to wait aimlessly for a job.
For me, the best way to help people now is to answer these questions if you have the answers:
When is next dpr recruitment and how can good Nigerian graduates who desire to be employed in dpr go about it the Nigerian way?

While the choice institutions are reserved for their cronies, they bring up this just to rub us oil on our lips and eat our boiled yams.

When last did we hear of open recruitment that was brought to a logical conclusion with fairness and merit in the CBN, FIRS, NNPC, EFCC, CUSTOMS, dpr ETC, but daily their wards and cronies are recruited and given appointment letters. A country where someone is being probed on how he spent billions meant for the welfare of the masses and he has the guts to fake fainting, in all these, nothing has been done to any of these men.

Nigerian Youths for how long are we going to continue in this? For how long are we going to keep quiet, for how long are we going to watch these men toy with our future and that of our born and unborn children? Its time to say enough is enough.

Join hands with us let's stop this nonsense and birth a New Nigeria.

A PRESENTATION BY THE HONOURABLE MINISTER OF NIGER DELTA AFFAIRS TO THE HOUSE COMMITTEE ON NDDC OVER ALLEGATION OF FINANCIAL MALFEASANCE AND OTHER ACTIVITIES IN THE NIGER DELTA DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION (NDDC) HELD AT THE MEETING ROOM 447, NEW BUILDING EXTENSION, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, NATIONAL ASSEMBLY COMPLEX, ABUJA ON MONDAY, 20TH JULY, 2020

PROTOCOLS
The Honourable Chairman and Members of the Committee, I am sincerely grateful for this opportunity to appear before you to personally respond to the issues raised in your letter Ref. No. NASS/9HR/CT/2020/VOL.1/039 dated 6th July, 2020 alleging malfeasance and other activities in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
2.I want to appreciate the Honourable Members of the House of Representatives under the leadership of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila and other Principal Officers. I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to interact with this Committee today as I recall some of the fond memories shared with a number of members during the 8th Legislative Session as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a Minority Leader in the opposition party of the PDP and a Principal Officer of the Nigeria Senate before I moved to join a President with impeccable record of integrity in the APC, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.
3.To this day, I have endeavoured to discharge my responsibilities as the Minister in charge of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs together with my colleague, the Honourable Minister of State, Senator Tayo Alashodura, with the same zeal demonstrated by me a few years ago as Governor of Akwa Ibom State. The propelling force is to bequeath a legacy that future generations will be proud of. This philosophy has guided my stewardship in the Ministry and the oversight of its lone parastatal, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) which in the recent has been in the public space due to concern in certain quarters on the commencement of the forensic audit of the Commission as directed by Mr. President.
4.To situate in its proper context, the Governors of the 9 States of the Niger Delta Region at a meeting with Mr. President in October 20th 2019 requested and the President approved and directed the conduct of the forensic audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) from 2001 to 2019 fiscal years.
5.Prior to this directive for the conduct of the forensic audit, Mr. President has reconfirmed the following:
i. Delegation to the Honourable Minister, the powers and duties conferred on the President by Section 7(3) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Act;
ii. Confinement of the NDDC as a parastatal in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, a decision taken since 2015;
iii. Suspension of the composition of a proposed Board for the NDDC in 2019 until the conclusion of the Forensic Audit exercise;
iiii. Constitution of a 3-Man Interim Management Committee, later expanded to a 5-man Interim Management Committee currently led by Professor Kemebradikumo Daniel Pondei as the Acting Managing Director, to oversee the affairs of the NDDC during the forensic audit exercise;
v. The estimated cost of the forensic audit exercise put at N2.5billion to be funded from the budget of the NDDC; and
vi. That the composition of a Board for the NDDC in 2019 be put on hold, pending the conclusion of the Forensic Audit exercise.
6.This Honourable Committee is adequately informed that a component part of the NDDC Budget comes from the annual national appropriation, as a single line Vote and of which the 2020 Appropriation Act signed into law by the President on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 and which went into force on January 1, 2020 provided the sum of N80.88billion for NDDC. In the 2019 Budget, a statutory transfer for the NDDC in the Federal Government of Nigeria Budget was put at N71,195,023,528.62. Earlier in October, 2019, the President had approved the funding of the Forensic Audit exercise by an estimated sum of N2.5billion to be sourced from the budget of the NDDC. The processes leading to the final award of contract for the Lead Consultant was completed in March 2020 when the two Houses of the National Assembly had passed the 2019 Budget of the NDDC.
7.On the passage of the 2019 statutory Appropriation as indicated above, the sum of N1,250,000.000.00 was provided for the forensic audit of the Commission on March 4 and 5, 2020 by the Senate and the House of Representatives respectively. However, the Clerk to the National Assembly conveyed a letter forwarding the passage of a budget of the NDDC for the 2020 fiscal year (copy of the said letter is attached as Annex I)
8.To kickstart the process for the Forensic Auditing exercise, the then Ag. Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, vide a letter dated December 6, 2019 (copy attached as Annex II) transmitted to the Bureau of Public Procurement prequalification, technical and financial documents of Messrs. Jake Riley Ltd as a Lead Consultant to recruit other Forensic Auditors for the Commission. The BPP reviewed the submission and vide its report Ref. No. BPP/dpr/SP/REPORT/2019/093 of January, 2020 (copy attached as Annex III) conveyed approval for the adoption of Direct Procurement method for the engagement of a Lead Forensic Consultant but declined to certify Messrs. Jake Riley Ltd because its submission was not responsive.
9.Thereafter, the NDDC vide letter Ref. No. NDDC/HQ/MD/BPP/2019/09 dated December 30, 2019 (copy attached as Annex IV) again transmitted to the BPP the prequalification, technical and financial documents of Messrs. Olumuyiwa Basiru & Co. for review and Certification of award of contract as Lead Forensic Audit Consultant at the cost of N335,601,562.50. The BPP reviewed the firm`s capacity and credentials and issued a Due Process Certificate of No Objection to Award, Ref. No. BPP/S.1/Vol.XV/19/108 dated January 08, 2020 (copy attached as Annex V) in favour of Messrs. Olumiuyiwa Basiru & Co. and its engagement as the Lead Consultant for the recruitment and supervision of Forensic Auditors and the coordination of the conduct of the forensic audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), at the total Consultancy Services Fee of N318,903,750.90 only.
10.The approval of the Federal Executive Council was subsequently obtained at the meeting of the Council held on 12th February, 2020 as certified above. However, the Ministry exercised restraint in finalizing the procurement process in view of Section 16(1)(b) of the PPA, 2007, which prohibits the finalization of a procurement process until the related funds are available, hence while the requisite processes were concluded, the related letter of award and contract agreement which marked the finalization of the procurement processes were not issued until the passage of the Budget of the NDDC on 4th and 5th March, 2020, by the Senate and House of Reps of the National Assembly. Extract of relevant page of the PPA, 2007 and the letter of award of the contract are attached as Annexes VI and VII respectively.
11.In line with its mandate to recruit field forensic auditors for the exercise, the Lead Forensic Auditor, through the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs in the letter Ref. No. MNDA/PROC/NDDC/20/263/Vol.1/9 dated March 20, 2020 (attached as Annex VIII) sought and received a ‘No Objection’ Approval from the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) for the appointment of the field forensic auditors through Selective Tendering process. Subsequently, the Evaluation Report with the Technical and Financial Tenders were transmitted to the BPP for review and certification. The Bureau reviewed the procurement processes and certified the process and issued a Certificate of ‘No Objection’ to award Ref. No. BPP/S.1/Vol.XVI/20/084 dated June 29, 2020 (copy attached as Annex IX) for appointment of the nine (9) firms and companies reflected in the Report as field forensic auditors for the conduct of the Forensic Audit of the NDDC, at the cost of N817,033,002.48 inclusive of all taxes and VAT at 7.5% with a completion period of 6 months and directed that the remaining seven (7) project lots be re-procured.
12.With the imminence of the commencement of the active phase of the forensic audit of the NDDC (visitation to project sites State by State), the social and print media have been awashed with massive campaign of calumny against the Interim Management Committee of the Commission and the Ministry, even at very high quarters all in the effort to frustrate the conduct of the Forensic Audit. The Interim Management Committee alleged an attempt at arson on the Headquarters of the Niger Delta Development Commission to destroy records and frustrate the forensic audit exercise. The Commissioner of Police Rivers State Command was immediately notified and he came in person to beef up security at the Headquarters. Many staff were also caught attempting to cart away hundreds of files belonging to the Commission. The police was notified. The Interim Management Committee handed over 8,000 files to the Lead Forensic Auditor who in a letter advised that staff that held very senior position that have not been on leave in the last two years were advised to go on mandatory leave with full salaries and benefits on monthly basis until the forensic audit exercise is concluded. No permanent staff of the Commission was sacked as alleged in the print, electronic and social media. The action of the Interim Management Committee in sending on mandatory leave any official whose presence in his or her duty post is deemed capable of interfering with the audit process, as advised by the Lead Forensic Auditor is in line with best practices.

DOCUMENTS REQUESTED
13.Request to Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) for Certificate of No Objection for the Lead Consultant and the response of BPP in that regard: The relevant letters are attached as Annexes II-V above.
14.Criteria used for the appointment of members of the Interim Management Committee (IMC): It is in exercise of the power conferred on the President by the following:
(i.) The Ministers’ Statutory Powers and Duties (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act at Chapter M14, Section 2 (Extract attached as Annex X) provides inter alia:
(1) “Subject to the provisions of this section, the President may, in any law enacted by the National Assembly or having effect as if it had been so enacted, by order make such modifications, whether by means of addition, substitution or deletion, as he may think fit for the purpose of:
(a) transferring to a Minister any of the powers and duties which are by such law directly or indirectly conferred or imposed on the President, or any public officer or which are conferred upon any other Minister; and
(b) making provisions consequential or incidental to any such transfer.
(2) An order made under this section may include directions (either general or in relation to any particular matter) for the carrying on and completion by the Minister to whom a power or duty is transferred, of anything commenced by the authority from whom it is transferred.
(4) A law which has been modified in accordance with an order made under this section shall be deemed for all purposes to have been amended in accordance with such modification, and the provisions of section 22 of the Interpretation Act (which relates to the reprinting of Acts and laws which have been amended) shall apply to any modification so effected as they do to additions, omissions, substitutions and amendments effected by an amending Act or law. [Cap. 123.].
(ii.) The “Administrative Guidelines Regulating the Relationship Between Parastatals / Government -Owned Companies and the Government” (extract attached as Annex XI) in paragraph 6 provides that “Government will ensure that there is always a Board for every parastatals that has a statutory provision for such a body. Where, however, a Board is dissolved and it is not immediately possible to reconstitute the Board, the President shall on the recommendation of the supervising Ministry constitute an Interim Board. Pending the reconstitution of such a Board, all matters which normally require the approval of the Board shall be referred by the Ministry to the President for approval”. The foregoing put in place the governance structure operational in the NDDC in the absence of a Statutory Board.
15.Report of the Tendering Processes for the selection of other forensic auditors, with all relevant correspondence to the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) are attached as Annexes VIII and IX above.
CONCLUSION
16.In concluding this briefing, let me reiterate my confidence in the leadership of the House of Representatives led by Rt. Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila and the Leadership as constituted. I hereby state my utmost desire to work closely with House of Representatives in our collective quest for a better Niger Delta Region - nay Nigeria of our dream. It is our belief that the outcome of this public hearing combined with the final report of the forensic auditors shall together help us to reposition the Niger Delta Development Commission to meet the yearnings of Niger Deltans and Nigerians, that have eluded us in the last 19 years.
17.Thank you the Honourable Chairman and Members, for the audience.

dpr warns public against fake recruitment notices

The Department of Petroleum Resources (dpr) has alerted members of the public to the activities of some unscrupulous persons, who are circulating fake recruitment notices on Social Media.

The dpr, in a statement signed by its Head of Public Affairs, Mr Paul Osu, on Monday in Lagos, noted that their motive was to deceive unsuspecting Nigerians into parting with huge sums of money for employment into the agency.
Osu said: ” They do this by masquerading as recruitment agencies and issuing bogus ‘dpr recruitment forms 2020/2021’ with spurious claims and promises of job offer into dpr.

“We hereby wish to state categorically that dpr is currently not conducting any recruitment exercise and has not engaged any persons, agents or consultants to act as intermediaries for any recruitment exercise.”
According to him, the dpr had not authorised anyone to charge any fees or issue recruitment forms on its behalf.
He said: “For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to reiterate that employment into the department is carried out in accordance with extant rules guiding such exercises in the Nigerian Public service in line with due process philosophy of government.
“In this regard, therefore, we would like to advise members of the public to discountenance any information circulating in the public space, particularly on social media regarding ‘dpr 2020/2021 recruitment forms.
“The public is enjoined to note that recruitment notices by dpr is usually published in national newspapers and our official website- www.dpr.gov.ng.

When CBN,FIRS, dpr, NIMASA, NIA, e.t.c are recruiting, you won't see it online, but when its time for Police constable(RECRUITS), they are publicising it. The Country is not balance at all.
My brother, as useless as this job may seem, our legislators will still hijack it. Last year, a recruitment exercise was concluded, the list was out, but they started arguing over it. Another list came out afterwards with a different set of names. The new guys were sent to camp and the rest is history. 2016 a similar thing happened, ASP recruitment. The list came out. I saw my friend's name and told him, he was happy. He told me he never lobied for the job. I was like kai! Naija dey change small small o. The legislators started arguing with the police authority. Another set of names came out and the rest is history. I hate those guys with a passion.

Look at the rumble in the jungle from a whole senators, reps and ministers for just 30k per month job , then you can now imagine what happens during recruitment by NNPC, dpr, SHELL, CUSTOMS, IMMIGRATION etc...no wonder some people's CV which they submitted for such jobs are used to wrap suya and roasted corn.

Everybody didn't do "gabbage in gabbage out" as you stated. People who are not educated produce pure water (simple distillation technique is all that is needed) and yoghurt consumed by Nigerians. We even import tooth pick.
Most interestingly, graduate trainee jobs in banks and many multinationals are open to all university graduates with 2.1 regardless of your course of study.
Also, research institutes, NAFDAC do employ graduate biochemists but it mainly man-know-man thing.
With 2.1, M. SC & PhD in Biochemistry, you are certain of good career in lecturing and research both locally and internationally.
Finally, the creme-del-la-creme of Biochemistry career is the manufacturing industry such as Nestle, P&G, Nigerian Breweries, International breweries, Guinness, Coca Cola, PZ etc. They don't employ much and their recruitment is very competitive but a management position there is highly lucrative. You start to earn what an MBBS graduate can only dream of.
If you are connected, dpr and NNPC employ biochemistry graduates as environmentalist and quality control officers.
The problem really is that Nigeria produce more graduates that the labour market can absorb. Everybody wants to go to school and get a good job by fire by force.
I have heared of a doctor who earns 33k in a private hospital and another who is yet to get a good job for 5 years.
No course guarantees job anymore. Many pharmacists are sales representatives (glorified drivers) in pharmaceutical industries. I know nurses that earn 20k in private hospitals.
Many Chemical & Petroleum Engineers are teaching chemistry in private schools with salary of 15k-25k.
I have read the lamentations of graduate doctors here who are struggling to get a place for housemanship for 2 years.
When people talk about how Useful a course is,Most times, they Mean can I Apply/work/Practice this course.

If Nigeria is Developed as a country, I won't even Consider Medicals at all.but we are Here.

Everything is to Prepare,Graduate With a good Result First, Work Hard and Pray.
God will always Favour his own.

We have Underemployed and Unemployed Health Practitioners but you can't compare them to thousands and thousands of Biochemistry and other Related Graduates out there.
Medicals, Most times ,usually have a Headstart.

If you are 30 years and above, get your M.Sc and gather some experience so that you can qualify for experienced position the next time dpr advertises.
Alternatively, apply in merit-based organizations such as KPMG, Ernst & Young, Deliotte, PWC, Banks, Universities (Private), multinationals like Nestle, Guinness, Nigerian Breweries, Shell, Chevron e.t.c. You can be employed on merit and some of them pay better than dpr.
Nothing is impossible for God, but as a human, I feel this recruitment is long over.

Family / Re: My Sister In-law Tried To Scam Me. by karo93: 10:21am On Jun 04, 2020
Amya:
I've been looking to get a federal agency job in Abuja for a while now and haven't yet had any reasonable connection.

My sister inlaw ( husband's sister) a lady in her mid 40s who's divorced and a hustler type still trying to find her feet called me up one day and told me a friend of hers had a connection for Civil Defence and i should email my CV right away to her. I have never discussed jobs with her before so the call took me by surprise. I wasnt particular keen on Civil Defence and as a lawyer i had my sights much higher on parastatal or agency jobs. She might have sensed my reluctance on the phone and she went on to say

"I'm just doing you a favour ooo, many people are hoping for opportunities as this"

She had this tone of urgency.

I didnt especially like how she was hurrying me as i never approach anything with desperation and as such, have never been scammed. I told her I'll get back to her. Two hours later, she was messaging me on whatsapp that she hadn't seen my CV on her mailbox. I replied her saying

"Aunty i haven't sent it ooo, is the job slot free because me i don't have money ooo"

This was a very dicey situation for me because this woman is over 10 years my senior and i wanted to be as diplomatic as possible without causing family wahala.

She read my response but didnt reply.

Very early the next morning she called me and when i picked up, she said that the job wasnt free but the price wasnt too much, just N350k. That i shouldn't worry that she'll call my hubby (her brother) and ask him for the money. When i saw she was still pushing, i opened up to her that even if i wanted to pay for a job slot, it definitely wasnt going to be a Civil Defence job as i had my sights set on agencies and parastatals. I knew she was upset by how her voice changed. "Agencies? What's that?" I told her like NNPC, dpr, NCC and the likes
"NNPC? ehnnn.. Okay" She cut the call and i heaved a sigh that it was over. It wasn't.

Two days later, this woman called me again to tell me she has an NNPC job for me.

(you've gat to be kidding me!)

She said that her friend knows the director and he asked for one million but after begging him, he agreed to take 500k she started with her hurrying tactics that i had only 24hrs and if payment wasn't made before then that the offer will be withdrawn. At that time, NNPC were done with their recruitment process and i didnt even apply and knowing how stringent NNPC recruitment was, i knew that offer was impossible. She went on that if I didn't have the cash that she'd call her brother (hubby) to make the transfer immediately. I knew right then without a doubt that this woman wanted to use me to obtain her brother by all means. She can try to scam him directly and if he falls mugu, good for her but why try to use me in the scam? I went further with questioning her on the supposed NNPC job. "Please Aunty the director that is helping, where is he?
" Abuja nau" she replied getting irritated with my questioning.

She was in Lagos and i was in Abuja at the time
so i asked her if i could meet the supposed director one on one and pay him directly and even promised to reward her and her friend handsomely if the deal pulls through.

"No" she said abruptly "you pay the money to my account and ill give it to my friend to make the payment. All you have to do is just hope and pray"

Pray... That word. I knew then without a doubt that this Aunty was trying to scam me.

I told her "Aunty please dont be angry, i know you mean well for my future and want me to get a good job in NNPC but right now I've already paid part payment for another job somewhere and i wouldn't want to invest in two places at once" That wasnt true, i just had to get her off my tail once and for all. She was shocked. She angrily cut the call. She wanted to finesse her brother out of some cash using my future, what happens when the real slot comes around. Would i expect him to pay twice?

Her mum (mil) called me and started blasting me. Saying I'm feeling too big to be helped and her daughter was only trying to help me and now she never wanted to have anything to do with me again. That i should call her daughter and take the offer so that peace would reign. I didnt. Even my hubby blamed me and i couldn't even open my mouth to tell anyone i thought the whole setup was a scam. That's such a big accusation to make. The family dislike for me grew worse because of that incident.

Please did i do wrong?

Modified: For those asking me to talk to hubby, ofcourse i did but he genuinely believes his sister was trying to help and since i couldnt point out outright that the whole thing smelt of scam, hr thinks i rejected the offer because of pride. But i know better. It didnt cause serious issue between us though.

Communication is everything....you should have carried your husband along completely....if he then chose to be scammed then its between him and his sister.

But you are not at fault. Your husband is just being unreasonable

You don't know how government employment works in Nigeria. You expect a director to openly collect money from you?
Family / Re: My Sister In-law Tried To Scam Me. by INDUSTRIALFAN(m): 7:41am On Jun 04, 2020

I knew right then without a doubt that this woman wanted to use me to obtain her brother by all means. out have done the right thing. Simply talk to him again, tell him of your fears but make his sister look innocent by blaming the supposed friend for wanting to scam all of you as is usually the case with such things.
