I personally know three bright fellows that got the nnpc job without any connection. Two are first class graduates. They got in on merit. Merit still works.
Keep hope alive. Many will get this appointment on merit. NCDMB has demonstrated this by trying to keep this recruitment secret from the onset.
I think the ES is bent on doing the right thing.

One thing am very sure of is that, they might just pick some very few from each list(according to importance), and throw away the rest. I don't think there will be any slot left if they have to employ every candidate on the, let's say Senate list alone, talk more of all other lists. I really feel sorry for some of the jobless ladies and guys here. I really feel your pain and frustration cos I'm also in the same condition.

For the guy asking about merit in MDA recruitment. There's nothing like merit in this country again. It's been happening for years. In 2011, I passed nnpc test and did 2 different interviews of which I was successful. I never got the job. My name was shortchanged. In the same 2011, I did NSITF test, I passed and did 2 interviews. They sent our names of FCC. I went to FCC and saw my name. When they finally sent the names to NSITF, I went and my name was not there anymore. They shortchanged my name, and not just me but a lot of us without connection. So there's nothing like merit in this country. This country is finished!

Well at least it has dawned on a lot of people who had no idea of how Nigeria Federal recruitment works. My 2 cents, move on with your life. The longer this recruitment persists, the higher the tendency of a biased list. Those who have already built house and bought cars for a job that is not even certain, better have a rethink. At this point, everyone should have a plan B,C, D and so on. the APL should be seen as an icing on the cake rather than a last resort. Funny enough, by the time the APL is distributed, some of us may even be in a better place than what is being offered. That is life. Opportunities unveils in the midst of uncertainties. To those of us currently employed, i believe we all know how it works, we continue to plan with current income until a higher income is earned.

Just a referral to this post i'd made a long time ago. The bureaucracy in nnpc cannot stop, at least not with this generation of leaders. I say this because the appointment for the position of nnpc GMD is political. These politicians will keep fixing their kids, relatives and wards in these A-List agencies without any recourse for the common man. As usual, It is seeming likely that nnpc will end a recruitment without any form of communication until an advert for a new recruitment exercise is published. Learning point has always been, never rely on any federal government job without the adequate connection, you are more often to be disappointed than selected. At this stage I do hope everyone has other plans in line to move ahead. I wish everyone the best of luck.

the people you're referring to are what we call chew and pour.
they'll know all the formulas and everything but in real life, they are not so great with problem solving.

Sometimes I laugh when you guys bash first class graduates either directly or otherwise. A lot of factors could have been responsible for why the guy with a first class didn't get the job especially since it's a govt job.

For emphasis, some people with a third class might make it into this NCDMB while lots of 2.1s and even those with masters won't. By your theory the third class guys are smarter than the 2.1s that couldn't get in. You could have stated your point without that anecdote.
