None, I mean none of the agencies I have applied for has ever commenced and concluded(some were never even concluded) a recruitment in less than 15 months; nnpc, NLNG, FIRS, DPR, NCDMB. I mean none! I have been in the private industry space for a while now and it doesn't take anywhere near this long to complete a recruitment process. Heck! even multinationals that pay over 3 to 5 times what these agencies pay do not take that long. Will this ever change?
I just want to implore those of us that will successfully be employed into this agency, we can really do better. our leaders in every facet of anything 'Nigerian' has failed us and if this trend continues, we may not even have a country to look towards in the next decade. Gosh, we can really do better.

If you are talking underpaid contract jobs in oil and gas, I won't be able to comment on that. But you see those direct hire roles with the companies itself, forget it. They hire only competence. Even staff cannot influence the process. Of course in referring to the multinationals there (although a lot of the local also try to focus on competence). If we are talking local Nigerian Oil and Gas businesses, they aren't different from the local counterparts in Tech. It's a Nigerian thing. But for the multinationals, na competence o. And the recruitment process is very meticulous. The person that I know personally that was hired by the gas company in question said to me "When you meet your colleagues in the office, you go know say you jam fellow competent people". They hired only 0.01% of the total application pool.

Oh yeah for graduate trainee its competitive. When SEPLAT was hiring, 20000 applied for less than 50 positions. The nnpc hiring that was completed recently had thousands of applicants. The thread on nairaland has over 1000 pages. If Exonmobil is recruiting today, the number of applicants will be over 10000 people and thats me being modest but this a Nigerian thing sha. In the US, people dont kill themselves dying to work for such places.

However, it is still easier getting a high-paying tech job than it is getting a high-paying oil and gas job even if you aren't a genius. No tech company cares about your grade or GPA or where you went to school. You went to MIT, solve leetcode. You went to umudike university, see leetcode solve am but in oil and gas if you didnt graduate with a first class you are pretty much bleeped.

The only thing i will agree to this is that it is wrong to go with arranged POf when going with family so it doesn't lead to HAD I KNOW and choked up situation.

I follow that group but don't comment. The guy wanted his mum come so she can take care of the kids while he schools and work and his wife works too to get more income. He has cash saved up for that for him to begin to talk of it. Till his wife felt awkward about it and everyone advised him to drop the idea for now.

See, allow people move how they want. So long they are not lazy. I don't think anyone will leave without plans or aim. That guy you talked about, made mention of his goals.

If people wanna go with their battalion before psw and they are capable, please they should do so.

Many do this for so many reasons e.g their kids future, a good life etc.

Remember, the best route to move to a foreign land is Via Education/study Route, for good integration amongst other things.

My friend works at FIRS. I've seen payslips. The basic monthly salary for a level 9 officer is 286k. That's 3,432,000 per annum. The Annual allowances come to roughly 4 million naira. Salary plus allowances would be 7,432,000 per annum at grade level 9. That's an average of over 600k per month in both salary and allowances.
