Sebod, what's your take on this debate?
I have read your position on it and trust me, you nailed it. Don't forget this was what we also bargained for last season when some of us agreed/believed Suarez should be the team's highest goal scorer for some obvious reasons. Messi is Messi, he doesn't need anything to prove anymore.

By the ways, where are the Arda critics?
Nice win today.

Don't get it twisted mate!

Slow and steady wins the race.
Baba is building a team that will qualify in a group of Juve, Atletico and PSG, and beat Bayern in the 2nd round, beat United in the quarter final, beat Madrid in the semi and ultimately destroy Barca in the final to lift the much coveted UCL.
It's a dream which is achievable, after all, Rome was not built in a day.

It has everything to do with winning trophies I think. If the team wins the treble again not only enrique gets the glory. Just as the guy responsible for the signings got the stick last season. Arda was a beast at athletico, we already started to tag him a bad singing until 2 matches ago. Mathieu was a beast at valencia, the only reservation was whether he could give 2 years not about his performance. Yet we all consider him a flop after just 1 season. That's why I said the end justifies the means. Its just 2 games and if digne and umtiti go ahead and flop just as mathieu and Arda did wouldnt we call them flops? All iam saying sha is the level of confidence here is discomforting. After alvez left I would have signed a right back. Asides munir I would have signed another striker as back up to the front trio. Iam only sueing for caution, that's all.
I got your point clearly bro. Over confidence shouldn't be encouraged as nothing is won yet and I am sure you can't get such from me. But, the fact remains that the latest signings can't be compared to the likes of Douglas and Verm. Those guys were never fit from the 1st day. At least, from what we have seen so far from the latest signings, we can be rest assured that we have potential back ups at the LB and CB. Whether they live up to expectation in the course of the season is a different issue on its own.
As regards Arda, I have always been of the school of thought that believes in giving players enough time to prove their worth. I have never called for his head just like Mathieu who I believe is okay a a squad player despite his errors.
I share your sentiment about getting a solid replacement for Alves. But, it seems the coach is not looking it that way. We can only pray and hope that wing is well covered by Vidal and Sergio.
As regards the fourth striker, it all depends on which solid striker would be willing to take the bench role when MSN are fit and available. With what we have seen from Arda in the LWF so far, I believe he can give us a solid performance in that role, while Munir stands as back up to Suarez and a fit Rafinha to Messi.
All in all, the depth of the team is reasonably okay, even though it doesn't guarantee any trophy yet. We can only hope, believe and pray that we all have something to cheer at the end as you have rightly said, "the end justifies the means"

We should be careful not to get ahead of ourselves. We are already glorifying the sporting director. But the end justifies everything. What of we go trophy less with all the signings, would he still be comparable to the guy who signed douglas and mathieu and still won the treble?
Don't get it twisted bro, it's not about the trophies won here, because we know those responsible for that. It's about how fit and okay the signings are. Vermaelen was signed while on the treatment table despite his track records of injury, Douglas never played any meaningful match for us(even though he can boast of trophies many outstanding players can only dream of).
Can we really compare those signings to the ones we have now? We have all seen how Digne and Umtiti have slotted in seamlessly into the team as if they are La Masia graduates. We need to give it to the man in charge bro, it has nothing to do with winning trophies.

Luis Suarez(85 goals in 97 outings) has now scored in every major competition for Barcelona.

The fact that many fans here(myself inclusive) still criticised him last season for not converting many chances despite his insane record shows the level of expectation of the fans of the best club in the world.

We are really going to sell Bravo with Stegen currently injured and the season starting in 5days?. Anyways that would give Masip playinq time. I hope Bravo is not sold for anything less than €30m.
City are ready to get him while Bravo too is willing due to the uncertainty surrounding who becomes the 1st choice this season. But, as Stegen is injured, Barca may be unwilling to sell except the coach is ready to put much trust in Masip as a potential back up.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by sebod(m): 10:05am On Aug 15, 2016
The day Pep was announced City coach, I knew the days of Hart were numbered as the 1st choice goal keeper. But, I never knew we are the one to bear the brunt.
Bravo is almost on his way to City. I think that will give Stegen something to cheer and merry about.

I have always read here how our nosy friends from the other thread have clamoured for CR7 for balon d'or even when he did not merit it. Does that mean there has never been any Nigerian playing abroad all these years? Why the sudden call for patriotism because some fans aired their opinion? That's hypocrisy of the highest order.

I can feel your pain Mr. replacement means back up . You are feeling like a black sheep but dont be angry, you were very sincere in your criticisms of busquets. The only disappointment was how you were trying to wriggle out of the ignominy of your co-barca fans calling you the black sheep. Now let me tell you most of these barca fans you are seeing here agreed with you on the sluggish busquets. Look at the image below, that was a post by a top barca fan here but they would call me and you names openely. Do you know that dmcdad hailed him and did nt fault him on this? So just chill, drink a wine and take a nap, because you have been sounding like a mad dog lately.

Everyone knows busquets has not been doing anything special in both teams. Check one of your popular barca guys' comment below (not darkrebel not logica ). You will be suprised if i reveal his moniker, so that you guys will know true barca fans know the truth about busquets ability over the years. Mikel slowobi has been called names but he still remains a regular in super eagles. We all know how it goes.
During and after the world cup, almost everyone here including myself clamoured for Mash to be deployed to the DM role, not because Busi was not okay but because he was far from his best in that period and we all wanted Mash due to his heroics in the world cup as a Dm. Our prayer was answered as Busi got himself injured. Mash was tasked with the responsibility but alas! We all ate our words and prayed for Busi's quick recovery as it was obvious Mash couldn't fit in to the holding role in Barca system.(I am sure you know what I mean by the Barca system)
Every Barca player had at one time or the other been subjected to criticism when they didn't live up to expectation. Even god-Messi has been subjected to harsher treatment by the fans. Or how can you explain a full blooded Barca fan asking for Messi to be sold? Does that mean such a fan still holds same opinion till today? I can bet he doesn't.
So, a fan can say something harsh about his players in the heat of the moment to pass across his displeasure, that doesn't mean he holds same opinion for life.

It would have meant something if Ronaldo had been actively involved in Portugal's success (by this I don't mean the way he dramatically buoyed his teammates to victory before extratime)

Take a look at his match statistics in Euro 2016 and juxtapose with that of Messi's in Copa America. Messi was more impressive but luck wasn't on his side. So while CR7 nonetheless deserves accolades, the portuguese team as a unit are responsible for their win, not Ronaldo—suck it in.

I bet Messi didn't even watch the EURO 2016 final, and was probably executing his matrimonial duties in the bedroom, or playing COD on Xbox. Messi no get time to check time. grin It's Madridistas that carry this Messi-Ronaldo duel on their heads.

Tax-avoiding-midget that ain't gonna spend a single day in prison. Humor me.

Did Ronaldo win the national trophy by himself (mind you he didn't even play in the final)

In other words, Pirlo and Isco are greater than Messi because they have won trophies for their national team and Messi hasn't? What a joke!

And aren't you a Chelsea fan, wetin concern you with Messi and CR7. Oh I remember, the pistol-whipping Iniesta gave you guys seven seasons is still haunting y'all till date. I understand. grin cheesy

A reckless comment made by a reckless person.

Criticisms doesn't translate to having hatred for someone. Football is not a scene in a Victorian novel where words like hell, damn, and heck qualify as swear words. It's a Spartan and austere sport where the bare bones of any given situation are spooned out without any euphemisms.

You need to learn the difference between criticism and hatred. I heard Sebod teaches English in Omukoro community high school,if you ask nicely he might help you with your learning difficulties and dyslexia.
