BykeLaByke: I don't do arguments anymore, but what you said is a falsehood that's continually being peddled around here so I just had to react.
Oh yes, after Leo made sure we had a 3nil lead to go to Anfield with while covering Valverde's flaws,it's on him again to make sure that the team does not concede 4goals in the second leg....
We are actually turning to Barcentina where he has to do it all.
I wouldn't classify Messi's performance that night as useless to be honest...but it is what it is innit.
UUhhmm nooo?,the players who under-performed get the most blame after the coach.
If it was a bum like Sergi Roberto wearing the captain's arm bad that night..
You would not be here posting"SerGi RoBErTo Is NoT a LeADEr aNd ShOUld NoT Be WeARINg ThE CapTAIn's ArMbAND'' I don't argue here anymore either! Messi ensured we got a 3goal lead in the first leg even though we were outclassed. Should that stand as an excuse for him to mess things up in the second leg when a lone goal could have probably made the difference? He got the best of the few chances we had for God sake! And no, I wouldn't have any issue with Roberto because I have never recognised him as a very good player. So, I can't place any expectation on him. You can't be the GOAT and expect to go scot free when you are part of a bottling team. |

BykeLaByke: WTF are you saying?
He's not a leader because he doesn't scream and shout on the pitch like an unhinged person?
Valuable leaders on the pitch are players who want the ball in times of trouble, players who ask for the ball so they can get others involved in the game too...not players like Rakitic who won't dare make a forward pass when he's being pressed.
Leaders on the pitch are players like Xavi Modric
We lack these kind of players in the team...so do spare me with the Messi does not act mad on the pitch BS. I was actually expecting a backlash from two guys here. You and Tessipid Being the GOAT does not automatically make one a great leader. Xavi? Yes! A certain Xavi would not attempt to dribble when a simple tap in would have gotten the job done when all that's needed is a single goal. A certain Xavi would not be looking helplessly and run out of idea when his team is being decimated and outpowered. A certain Xavi would not be strolling on the pitch waiting for passes when it is obvious his team is in trouble and cannot get the ball to him comfortably. He would support rhe team. I am sure Xavi will be on the pitch and will keep mute when his team needs someone to talk and motivate them. I doubt if Xavi would ever be in a team bottling a 3goal lead when it really matters most. Mind you, all the players were useless that night. But, the leader gets the most blame after the coach. |

sebod: You should have at least given me kudos for getting my tipping/prediction which you claimed was wrong right.
Messi did not only go back to DM role as you claimed against Juve, he did it all season. We won some big matches such as madrid, Atletico, Psg e.t.c with Messi playing same role. The difference was that the players took their chances in those games won and deservedly got their applause. Messi playing as a DM was not the reason he kept blowing the chances he had against Juve, what he would score on a good day. Neither was Messi playing as a DM was the reason Suarez was firing blanc or Neymar wasting goal chances.
You guys just don't want to agree the players also contributed to our abysmal performance and keep heaping all the blames on Lucho. This post was made two years ago after we lost to Juve and guys were blaming the coach while exonerating the players. Even though EV is as clueless as EV himself, it was just too shameful to see professional footballers playing like pregnant women in a game they had complete upper hand having won the first leg comfortably albiet fortuitously just like the match against Roma last year. |

Bottling a 4-1 lead against Roma? I can't ever forgive that man really. Thank God I never placed any hope in that coach ever since the Roma debacle. I really pity those thinking anything good could come out of a coach that bottled a 4-1 lead. I have said this before and I was criticised by many here. Let me say it again....Messi is not a leader and should not be wearing the captain band! |

It was very sad seeing Pep go from jubilating to pulling off his jacket in pain and distraught I don't feel sorry for Pep. He got what he deserved. Just imagine the rubish he did in the first leg! When teams would be playing to get a favourable result in the away fixture, pep would be experimenting, hoping to get the job done at home. Is Etihad a Camp Nou |

sebod: Suarez has been off it since the season started. I was just shaking my head when your guy was rating him based on the equal number of goals he has with Messi then. Messi that was absent for two months He surely needs to get back his old self as we are approaching the business end of the season. This was posted in January 2017. And Suarez is yet to get back his old self which is certainly no longer possible. Brilliant peeformances here and there at times can't disprove his decline over the years and its even more evident by his absymal performance in the Ucl. If we must achieve glory in the Ucl, Suarez has to be more responsible in burrying chances because only few would be created. |

So, England actually thought they could win the World cup? so that we no go hear word again from the press and the Epl fan boys? . I was actually expecting a good game from both England and Belgium teams to at least see how the two Epl packed teams would fare against each other, only for them to field weak and second teams just because they have qualified and some wanted to avoid some heavy weights in the knockout stages. Now, that the two teams must face each other again to know who gets the bronze, let me now see if they are still going to play their team B . At least, we will finally get to see what we wanted then. |

I never said ALL barca fans.

That is my stand point.
And the thing is I cant help being miffed at that choice. Well well well.... we have some here who support Brazil, some have withdrawn their support for Argentina following there series of disappointments while some don't even bother watching SE matches anymore as a result of their woeful performances over time. I just believe everyone one is entitled to his opinion. As per the NIG/ARG match, I have not seen any reason why Niger should not finish them. Argentina have been abysmally poor in this tournament with Messi still being a shadow of himself. I just hope he doesn't turn up tomorrow to torment us otherwise, na die be that oooo |

Many trolled the hell out of the team, hoping they would get more serious in their next match. Fortunately, the team (and coach) listened. Even old players lent their support by giving motivational speeches to the youngest squad at the tournament.
The result was a 2-0 win over Iceland.
This gives us a fighting chance to qualify for the next round as long as we don't loose to Argentina.
Some pessimistic people will hope their sadddist expectations comes true just to mock those wishing their fellow citizens the goodness of life. They would rather their brothers fail just so they are justified of their doom prophesies.
But by God's grace they will be disgraced come Tuesday and they will be the ones to be mocked instead. Nothing is guaranteed so lets hope our bois come to the party and Argentina still remain in shambles on the Tuesday.

Ibime: You know Salah injury changed the game. Madrid could not cope before that. Salah Injury changed the game really and that was because he centred the whole team around him. CR7 is the biggest name in Madrid, he did nothing last night and Madrid still won the game due to Zidane's master sub. Klopp is not just to be trusted with finals. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by sebod(m): 4:05pm On May 27, 2018 |
sebod: Congratulations in advance to Madrid and CR7. For winning the UCL and the next WPOTY.
Cules are pained by the deserved loss to Roma, forgetting that our games this season have been nothing to write home about. The only time we had a nice game in the UCL was in the 1st leg against Juventus. We have been awful ever since then. We have own-goal to thank for seeing us through the group stage, while cheer luck and individual brilliance bailed us out against Chelsea as we were completely outclassed and outplayed. Even in the 1st leg against Roma, we didn't deserve to win, all thanks to same own-goal. It's obvious the team has regressed badly under EV. The only saving grace for him is that we never expected to have a very good season as at the start of the season due to Neymar's departure.
Just like last season after our loss to Juve, I castigated the senior players(Messi, Iniesta, Neymar, Alba and Suarez) for failing to utilise their chances while others were blaming the coach. It's just obvious our players can only raise their game when playing against Madrid(little wonder some Cules were clamouring for El Classico semi). Even though the players looked tired, I still believe they could have laboured more to preserve the lead having been so lucky in the 1st leg against Roma. They just couldn't raise the game when it mattered most.
Lastly, I have been very careful to talk about the coach ever since he was hired. But, I have been worried all season against his favoured 4-4-2 formation which never seemed to be working as far as I am concerned. His insistence on playing same line ups coupled with his attitude towards some players have clearly shown he's not made for a top club like Barca. How do we explain having a tricky/skilful player on the bench only to bring him on in the 85th minute when you needed a goal badly? I think he's still flattered by the unbeaten run in the league, I pray that ends soon because I wouldn't want such a clueless coach in the history book of my club. He should just win the league and find his level.
As for those complaining about the PK awarded to Madrid, it's safe to say they worked hard for it. What did we do to force the ref into making a tough decision? Absolutely nothing! . When this was posted, I was called names for trying to win the heart of rival fans. Even Usbcable follow me argue(congrats anyway ). At the end: 1. our players raised their game against Madrid, what they failed to do against Roma and even Juve last season. 2. Our unbeaten run was thwarted, giving no room for the 4-4-2 coach a place in my clubs rich history book. And finally, 3. Madrid won the UCL again. And we are stuck with the coach at least for another season. Na to just enter prayer mode remain before these yeye people turn my club to something else. |

Eruditor: Let me say something funny;
United need to win their last game of the season to get more points than that City team which people said failed.
That City team scored more goals than this United team which everyone claims has improved.
Liverpool, Tottemham and Chelsea will have less points than that same City team that were "embarassed" last season.
Pep is a victim of his own success. In fact, when he wins next season with less points than the 100 he will garner this season, they will say he failed. You have said it all sir. He, indeed is a victim of the standard he's set for himself. |
