http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/access-bank-focuses-on-cost-reduction/182853/ Access Bank Focuses on Cost Reduction 07 Jul 2014 Font Size: a / A Access Bank logo By Obinna Chima Access Bank Plc’s unaudited results for the three-month period ended 31 March 2014, showed the financial institution’s continued focus on improving on its top line while managing its cost base. The first quarter results also revealed progress towards the bank’s strategy of delivering profits through sustainable build-up of its loan book. The results showed that the bank’s gross earnings for the quarter climbed to N57 billion, representing a nine per cent increase compared to the corresponding period in 2013. In the same vein, its operating income increased by 19 per cent to N42 billion, supported by a 12 per cent increase in non-interest income during the period, while its profit before tax climbed by 20 per cent to N13.4 billion as at March this year, from N11.1 billion in the first quarter of 2013. The bank recorded an improvement in its cost-to income ratio as it came down to 64.6 per cent from the 70.2 per cent it was previously. During the quarter, Access Bank continued to streamline its operations and exited from Burundi. This contributed to the reduction in cost. In addition, key initiatives were implemented to forge ahead in its brand promise of speed, service, and security. The Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Access Bank, Mr. Herbert Wigwe expressed delight over the progress that bank is making in delivering on its strategy. According to him, the financial performance clearly demonstrates strong progress towards sustainable and profitable growth for its shareholders. “Business performance has improved across all key segments, as the Bank lays out its medium term plan. Whilst our Corporate banking division remains a stronghold for the Bank, significant potential is being shown by our Personal and Business banking divisions. “This quarter provides a solid base from which Access Bank will be able to deliver on the targets that we have set for ourselves for 2014. “Looking forward we will continue to ensure delivery on our promises by remaining focused on our set objectives,” he said. Therefore, in recognition of its strength, pan-African rating agency, upgraded the bank from “A” to “A+” with a stable outlook. The rating cements Access Bank’s position as a Systemically Important Banking Institution in Nigeria and reflects the full synergy of the merger with Intercontinental Bank Plc. Access Bank’s share price closed at N9.70 per share on the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Friday |

sheniqua: So they should fight a widow and her young children endlessly because the father didn't give them what they wanted?Seems some of us do not clearly understand what is at stake, what the family is challenging is her sole right to properties of OTL regarded as the family business; occupation of No. 29, Oyinkan Abayomi Street, Ikoyi Lagos and ownership of other properties of the family business. Also that throughout the period Ikemba was struggling to retrieve the properties from the government, others never played any role in the struggle nor contributed financially or otherwise to the realisation of the struggle is rubbish and annoying that therefore they are not entitled to the properties when the action is directly linked to same man. Meanwhile these are properties of a business that have been in existence before she was born or even married into Ojukwu family. So this is not fighting her and her children and instead it is a case of greed on her part and she is even trying to cause injustice to other children whose Father, Sir Louis legitimately handed the company over to by virtue of being Directors of OTL. I respected Ikemba in his lifetime, but this act of handing over OTL properties to Bianca without considering his other sibblings is giving me a second thought about how I perceived him. Was he really fair to others and not only after selfish interest? Can we sit back and have a second look at his role in the civil war vis a vis this recent occurrences and the way he handled his family. I had some reservation when I first heard his will was read and didn't hear anything on giving back to Igbo community (no matter how small) just to identify with the troubles and sufferings inflicted on them as a result of Civil war, even a little cottage hospital would have made me more convinced that he is one of the best leaders ever produced in this Country. Well, just my thought, sometimes I over expect sa. |
I really dont know why some women are very greedy these days. She wants everything for her Children alone, claiming that others did not contribute when he was fighting for the properties back forgotten that others sufferred that fate due to Ikemba's action. I least expect such action from her considering her family and educational background. I read a similar case about Captain Haastrup but wasnt really surprised because the Lady involved is not from such a reputable family like Bianca. http://www.shipsandports.com.ng/2013/news/Family-of-veteran-Master-Mariner-Capt-Haastrup-fingers-ex-wife-for-his-abduction-death.php Why will someone be greedy and not consider others too, not even a simple give and take. God will help us. |
If these projects can be completed, it will lead to a serious transformation of Aba. I think this is a good development, T.A Orji has finally woken up from his slumber. More of these initiatives all over the Country is highly welcome. |
;DHips enlargement? |
