Why can't you start with your own first- if you have done yours, publish it on Nairaland, then you can move on to Yaradua- sebi everyone is supposed to die?

^Don't get the question, but i would give an answer from the little i can interpret

Being rooted in ur culture especially one of your ethnicity, does not preclude you from acknowledging the equal importance and richness of another african culture. In the case of Nigeria for example,  I have been proud of what culture I am from, but when i discuss issues of nigeria, I pride myself at knowing at least a significant bit about the other cultures present. Ethnic pride does not mean tribalism- its just like someone who like manchester united and someone who is proud of arsenal, the former is  not biased to Londoners.

So yes, it is possible to root yourself in one culture, but still not be tribalistic as long as you dont consider your culture or "people" superior to another

ok, example- not the calibre I am looking for though- but i doubt african cultures pondered "philosophical issues"

It would seem from this statement that you are benchmarking Europe as the standard for thought and philosophy.
I am drawing this issue because logic is a purely european/arab construction. We should acknowledge the inventors, while making every effort to supersede them in their efforts, but how can u supersede something u are not aware of. It is difficult to deny that critical thinking was pioneered and developed by western cultures with contributions from the east. It would not be erroneous to say that western thought haas become the benchmark for philosophy- considering the fact that it is the most studied and developed of philosophical theories
Politics › Re: Debate: Is Nigeria A Failed State? by SEFAGO(m): 10:59pm On Dec 02, 2009
Ok, I think you guys should make a distinction between a politically failed state, and what that is suffering from economical and political problems.

Is Nigeria a politically failed state- no i dont think so

Is it suffering some major political and economic problems?

Yes
Politics › Re: Critical Thinking And Dialogue by SEFAGO(m): 10:49pm On Dec 02, 2009
Cultural influences cannot be peeled off from Logic and philosophy, that is why the philosophy and teachings of Confucius are at opposite poles to those of Descartes (the very same way Chinese and Japanese culture / civilisation differ from what obtains in the West).
Western culture and African culture rarely find harmony; you need inner harmony to be logical, philosophical or creative.
I agree that Eastern philosophy (including arab cultures) is at par with western thought, and I shouldnt have overlooked it, but I am intersted in my own culture, what about african philosophy- is there actually anything like that?

I haven't seen any field known as african philosophy, and i doubt there is one- but i wuldnt be surprised if some afrocentrist come her and start spewing some imaginary bullshit

The problem with religion is that it is totally emotional. Reason is hardly applied to it because of its orientation, so when you start to reason in life, you feel religion is foolish, but I have found out that reason can be applied to religion. It can be understood but only by those who can reason well both emotionally and logically.
I hope u are not talking about urself undecided

While the Mezvinksys aren't as powerful as the Clintons, they are arguably just as controversial. Marc's father, Edward Mezvinsky, served as a congressman from Iowa for two terms in the '70s. Later he was famously sentenced to prison for around seven years. According to blog from ABC News, Ed Mezvinsky was found guilty of fraud "after getting caught up in a series of Nigerian email scams." Yup, those email scams.

Mr. Mezvinsky didn't actually conduct the scams, but he did attempt to scam others in order to raise money to contribute to the "get rich quick" scheme. Again, according to ABC, Mezvinsky's mother-in-law was a victim, as were some of his closest friends. After serving several years in prison, the former representative is now a free man.

Marc's mother, Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky, is also no stranger to the public eye. She herself served as a Pennsylvania congresswoman from 1993-1995. Apparently, her political future took a turn for the worse when she voted to support President Clinton's budget "after months of publicly voicing her opposition to the bill because it did not contain enough spending cuts." According to official site from house.gov, Ms. Margolies-Mezvinsky also worked as a television reporter in the 1970s.

He is just a liar who is claiming that his own grand father could turn into a Lion just before the Biafran wars (what about after the biafra war). He crooks up stories telling about how a goat's bone stuck in the throat of one who transformed into a lion to steal a goat.
Another hallucination. You watch too much nollywood movies. Peace

UCI, top law schoolhuh  shocked shocked shocked smiley smiley smiley. I doubt it is ranked. and i definitely doubt they have cross admits with pepperdine, not to talk of the Big three or T-14. Considering the fact that getting into a top law school is 3 times harder than b-school.   Not planning to do law school, too many lawyers in America anyways. However, I admit it is one of the fastest ways to $$$$$$$$. Considering the fact that partners earn 1 million b4 bonuses, b4 the recession of course  cheesy

Hey quick question, u said u applied to IEOR/FEOR or finance programs- do u have a very quantitative background. I am asking because one of my friends is getting the punishment of his life while applying for jobs- he is getting rejected everywhere despite being a top applicant- 3.8+ GPA in the hard sciences, significant awards in school, part of a selective program in his school which gets him in contact vice-presidents and managers at morgan stanley, bain and deloitte - but he has gotten 0 job offers, despite his networking skills and experienc eand so he wants to apply to graduate school.

WHAT could be described as a fairy tale turned real on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as a cat allegedly turned into a middle-aged woman after being hit by a commercial motorcycle (Okada) on Aba/Port Harcourt Expressway.

Nigerian Tribune learnt that three cats were crossing the busy road when the okada ran over one of them which immediately turned into a woman. This strange occurrence quickly attracted people around who descended on the animals. One of them, it was learnt, was able to escape while the third one was beaten to death, still as a cat though.

According to a source who witnessed what happened, the cat-woman said she and the two other cat-fellows had travelled from Abuja to Port Harcourt to kill three people. "The woman said they came to Port Harcourt from Abuja and that they came to kill three people. She said they had succeeded in killing two people, but the third person, whom I guess might be a pastor, was difficult for them and that they were preparing to go back to Abuja," said the source.
Read this story again, it is hilarious  grin grin grin. Let us start with the second paragraph. Three cats decided to kill three people. They succeeded in killing two people but found it difficult to kill a pastor ( why does this sound like one of those cheap nollywood movies  shocked shocked shocked). They traveled all the way from Abuja which has a gazillion people and pastors to specifically kill three people.

Move to first paragraph, the okada hit the woman, and she immediately turned into a cat (why is it that this always happens). The second one escaped (how), and the third one was beaten to death (interesting enough the third dead cat is conveniently missing in the picture. The photographers could get a picture of the woman in full glory and conveniently missed a cat. Then Nigerian Police, reputedly one of the most cowardly group of people on planet earth, decided to take this woman into custody, despite the fact that she and her group had the powers to kill two people?

Man, which kain brain you guys get sef? No wonder the last position in the class is always occupied by someone.  cool

Im sorry to say this but I dont know why the Female Nairalanders are always the one being more bashful compared to the males. . . Its like they yab all the time and they are worst off thant the males. . . Sorry! No Offense!
Is called sexual frustration. The conservative nature of nigerian culture prevents them from shagging as much as they would like to, and so they are taking their frustration out online.

Man I missed a helluva a fight because I was doing school work sad . Abeg you guys should continue, abeg no peck on the cheek or make-up words, if i wanted to see that I would go and watch some chick flick or go to church or move to china. I want to see african roforofo fight.

I was interested in your use of the term M-7 because I felt it would be pertinent to previous discussions about the need and efficacy of obtaining an MBA. For example, people who are going to law school say it isn't worth it shelling 60,000 dollars a year if you are not attending a T-14 law school, since to pay these debt you most likely need to sell your soul to a corporate law firm. So, i wanted to see if the M7 was an arbitrary term used to refer to schools which served as the core of the toppest business schools where anything less makes it more difficult for you to get recruited at the top firms and hence no need to take the 100,000+ debt
