Abi? But you dont need to curse the French. True that on making our native languages known worldwide. They teach yoruba in most American colleges, I think thats a progress.
afam4eva- introducing tribal instincts- if you really where against the word most you should have corrected it

Is that supposed to be a joke?

Here my own joke: Igbos is a compusory subject in every university in the world.
tanimsz
Im serious, Yoruba is among one of the languages offered in some universities. Its not a joke.
she changes to some

Afam4eva's response
Mad people never accept that they are mad.

See who says i'm starting a tribal fight. You want to tear your boxers simply because i said igbo is equaly taught in many american university.
you never said that- repeat, read your posts. My main problem was you producing nonfactual information. Why would I care? Of course it wouldn't make sense for igbo to be equally taught because of the fact that yoruba and hausa are seen more as african languages (significantly spoken outside nigeria) as opposed to igbo, with minute speakers in ghana and sierra leone.

Hausa on the otherhand is a true african language spoken in over 6 countries

I am analysing Nigeria's rich heritage, dont really give a damn if the truth worries you mate
Politics › Re: Okoya-thomas Wants Nigerians To Learn French by SEFAGO(m): 1:56pm On Nov 26, 2009
And as expected hausa is prolly the most taught african language because it is spoken in several other african countries and seems more significant to people interested in Africa.

I said someone said they offered yoruba in some universities- i am talking about in general not one specific university- read ur previous posts where u said someone was a mad man for saying the obvious
Politics › Re: Okoya-thomas Wants Nigerians To Learn French by SEFAGO(m): 1:41pm On Nov 26, 2009
Sick mess, did i tell you i was competing with your tribe? whichever tribe you may come from. Pls can you post a link to the universities that teach yoruba, slowpoke
So u think I a jobless like you- well let me help you. Yoruba is not offered as a major in any american university i know, but it is offered as a language requirement for most african studies departments so that means you want me to go and search every african studies department in the US, so that i can prove an obvious point.
Politics › Re: Okoya-thomas Wants Nigerians To Learn French by SEFAGO(m): 1:38pm On Nov 26, 2009
The problem is that yale doesn't teach igbo intensively, while yoruba is one of the four language requirements you could complete if u want to get a degree in african studies- the others being kiswahili, zulu and arabic.

Hence why I a questioning ur motive. Someone said they offer yoruba, you say na lie, b4 it u make round about turn then add igbo to it- what do u want me to think?
Politics › Re: Okoya-thomas Wants Nigerians To Learn French by SEFAGO(m): 1:29pm On Nov 26, 2009
Oh, i didn't know this was a tribal competition- anyways do u go to yale? no, then shut up  grin.

A lot of other universities teach nigerian languages, but the most common language being taught is yoruba.

I think you should change it to, they teach yoruba in some american universities- and yes that is correct
Politics › Re: Critical Thinking And Dialogue by SEFAGO(m): 12:01pm On Nov 26, 2009
Thats the attitude of Nigerian Politicians and look at the mess, just because people act like fools you don't need to join in - what have you got to lose?
A lot of free money grin.
If I take everything seriously in Nairaland, its a bit of a waste of time- it is difficult convincing nigerians about any issue- there is something in the nigerian atmosphere, which makes anyone born on nigerian soil to think that they came into this world with unquestionable knowledge about the affairs of this world. Trying to convince any of us otherwise is like trying to make fire from water, so just join the humor.
Politics › Re: Controversial Obama Picture Raises Uproar! (with Pics) by SEFAGO(m): 11:55am On Nov 26, 2009
agreed, there is some weird fascination with michelle Obama- maybe because she is very chic unlike some of the former women in the white house
Politics › Re: Controversial Obama Picture Raises Uproar! (with Pics) by SEFAGO(m): 11:34am On Nov 26, 2009
And what difference does that make?
well usually caricatures are a form of political satire. For example everyone is used to the caricature of Obama as having big ears, and long jaws- while always making hopeful statements. This is a beautiful one about bush http://www.sportcartoons.co.uk/caricatures/bush_b.jpg

But first ladies are usually rare topics- except of course if there husbands were getting blowjobs in the white house
Politics › Re: Critical Thinking And Dialogue by SEFAGO(m): 11:29am On Nov 26, 2009
I second the teaching of philosophy. We actually went a bit farther than that and studied logic at my secondary school; were interesting arguments were entartained such as, "God is everywhere",  "therefore, God does not need to walk around, therefore God has no need for legs". I think if you try such an argument with some of our religious folk, you will get burnt.
That is not logic mate, that is speculation wink. I do second the teaching of philosophy in nigerian universities because it makes you reason out anything b4 u do it- instead of acting b4 u think as many of y countrymen do
Politics › Re: Critical Thinking And Dialogue by SEFAGO(m): 11:27am On Nov 26, 2009
I see where you are comming from but isn't Philosphy mainly about EUROPEAN thinkers like marx and Hegel; if anything LOGIC would be much better because its not subjective.
shocked shocked shocked, logic is a well-accepted branch of philosophy. Marx and Hegel constitute a minute part of philosophy- considering the fact that philosophy is divided into metaphysics/epistemology/logic/ethics/aesthetics

I love metaphysics cool

Problem with logic is that since I have been on Nairaland, I havn't seen anyone who used really classical logic to defend points or even consider thought experiments per se, to disprove a point. Most people here just use roforofo fight. So trying to actually argue coherently with anyone on NL is a futile effort, so why dont you just join the game grin

absolute capitalism will never end mate. It will come back booming in 20 years, people have short memories, and hard lessons are easily forgotten in a day

I wonder whats the revenue allocation set-up in UAE, and why their fellow kwantrymen like Sharjar and Abu-Dhabi no fit bail them out.
Infact Abu Dhabi recently bailed out four of the major government owned companies by giving them 20 billion dollars with no strings attached (supposedly)

yep, I have seen worse pictures of george bush which make him look like an idiot (which he undoubtedly is) but interesting I havnt seen anyone create a caricature of laura bush.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Dubai In Serious Financial Crisis by SEFAGO(m): 10:25am On Nov 26, 2009
Interesting, I read a similar article on the mirage of a economic growth in Dubai driven by property boom. Not surprised, but i think dubai would survive considering the fact that it is being bailed out by its richer neighbor Abu Dhabi.

Paddy man

There are new findings/theories on evolution that you seem not to be aware of, like how Europeans and others diverged from Africans. I will get back to you as I am quite busy now. Thanks
mekusxx, you are actually correct- i didn't bother responding to paddy because its like talking to a block. The problem is that those theories ight also have racial connotations though, if you know what i mean. Another reason why i did not bother to mention it.
Politics › Re: Still On Igbo And Yoruba by SEFAGO(m): 2:48pm On Nov 23, 2009
Oduduwa could not have fallen from heaven. That one is even the most ridiculous of claims. The Oba of Bini clarified the matter when he confirmed that Oduduwa was a Bini prince driven out of Bini Empire for some crime he committed. Essentially, Oduduwa was a criminal, according to the Oba of Bini, although the Yoruba intelligentsia almost had the Bini Oba balls for a meal. Do some googling.
look, i dont give an F whether Oduduwa dropped from a pot of soup or came out of the Bini empire- it is very likely there was never anyone called oduduwa and it is just a myth. There are no historical records except word of mouth anyways. However, I am talking about the absurd claim that igbos are semites and not sub-saharan africans
