You are making a mistake, Dimeji Bankole is a relatively young man, isn't he?True, I was actually thinking of him, at the same time I was making my post- doesn't he have a father who was heavily involved in politics? |
yes, its me- do u think i was trying to hide it? Anyways go back to the topic- whats funny- because u are ignorant, non? |
na wa oooooNo- this is just the Nigerian way of greeting. You can see beaf is not offended, that is how we greet each other in nigeria. Its a cultural thing, just like how oyibo people say good morning. i dont think anyone was talking about fresh graduates. OF COURSE NOT!!yep, what we definitely do not need is a young graduate. What we need is someone who is young and idealistic. Like the problem with Old people is that they have already seen life as it is- and figured out that it is every man for themselves- so why care about poor nigerians? Sometimes, I still wonder how heartless you must be- to build a house and still billions of naira, while being aware of the significant poverty in nigeria. The best I can say is that maybe old age brings with it reduced conscience because maybe you have learned that the world is a wicked place to live and you have to do what to survive. |
It was Alan Greenspan wasnt it?haha very funny . Despite the supposed role of Greenspan's economic policy in causing a recession, he still preceded over one of the most successful and economic prosperous periods of America. Inflation makes money worthless, but I guess your teacher from the Fed told you that Mugabe deliberately caused inflation to make the Zimbabwean dollar worthless - U Silly DummyNo, he was talking in terms of the US. I don't mean hyperinflation, i meant steady and regulated inflation, you seem to be the one confused about terminology- your dummy stuff should be focussed on your friend paddy_lo. He is accusing the Fed of printing money randomly but if this was true then it would cause hyperinflation in developed countries. However this is not the case- the US mints money based on a certain formula- I have forgotten, and does so after significant calculations have been done on its effect on the economy. No, I have to use wikipedia to teach u, because i can't toss a book over the internet: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inflation Inflation can have positive and negative effects on an economy. Negative effects of inflation include loss in stability in the real value of money and other monetary items over time; uncertainty about future inflation may discourage investment and saving, and high inflation may lead to shortages of goods if consumers begin hoarding out of concern that prices will increase in the future. Positive effects include a mitigation of economic recessions,[5] and debt relief by reducing the real level of debt.just accept you are wrong and move on to more important stuff. This isn't a competition, we are dealing with facts and not ego. |
beaf is not young hes like 35 married to a fat black american ladyThats why he has so much time to spend on NL- all those |
besides Beaf, did any of us young people say we wanted to be president of nigeria? lolyes like seriously, I have better things to do. Do you know the amount of odeshi and political backing u need to contest for a chairman position in a local government not to talk of president. And its a cabal in nigeria- a cabal of snakes that have known each other for years, and learned how to manouever themselves amongst each other. A young person would not survive 4 days except if maybe his father is a member and could fast-track his or her career. I still believe experience is necessary for presidency- so my idea of young is 32+ |
How can Soludo be recycled? This is his very first political outing, or you tink say CBN work na politics?yep, i think so. But I am not pointing at his character in general- the problem is that even if he wants to execute this program itself, it would be difficult and probably deep-rooted corruption would make such a projects be like pouring water in a hole. I am not criticizing him anyways- i would be glad if another state surpasses lagos or abuja in some sort of economic activity. But Major question- what are his economic plans for Anambra? And my major gripe and distrust- only in Nigeria will a former central bank governor run for elections- ![]() |
^to show you that he is a short, fat, tribal-marked politician who is trying to be assassinated by his enemies |
Dont mind walakolobo, idiot- he is just playing on the fact that since u are fat and short you are more prone to get hypertension, especially when you get death threats. |
Money will change hands , This is just an elaborate plan I am sure. That is the problem with recycled leaders, its so easy to spot tactics |
My dear, I tick all the right boxes.Pedophile . Beaf is a middle-aged, short, pot-bellied man with tribal marks on his face and an uncanny resemblance to Obasanjo. He also has a penchant for young girls. Ladies beware |
if oil prices rebounds though, with the way helicopter ben is printing money, then nigerian growth should be solid next yr ![]() Seems people are totally ignorant about economics- regardless could we talk about the identity theft itself, this economics talk is boring. Africa is still a shithole- we should be talking about how to build it without the support of our resources |
Transformer or whatever your name is. U sure have a good knowledge of the black achievers of our time. These are all small fry. Do u want me to copare you to singapore or hong kong- this countries have far more achievers. though the ratio between eache country and africa's population is in the 1000s |
can't you see that me and many other positive people are saying love yourself and be progressive? Can't we love ourselves while being aware of our faults and trying to strive to rise above those faults? The point is that a lot of us are comfortable in our own skin and dont need the small justification of the existence of a civilization to decide what we do in our lives. |
In case you dont get what i want- i want some sort of african microsoft- that would be a more suitable example- I want us doing the exploiting that is what i meant- significant |
[SCIENCE and BUSINESS]Cool, you are managing the money of the people you are criticizing. [SCIENCE and BUSINESS]see the above [SCIENCE and BUSINESS]BEP [BUSINESS]see my first comment [BUSINESS]see my first coment |
Secondly, they are only interested in TRADE not medling with government. Hence they could'nt careless if Africa developed or not but on the otherhand Europeans and the Americans have paid billions to make sure that Africa is ruled by complete Dummies. Have you listened to Felas ITT? You see Felka tried to simplify complex situations so the common man that is suffering in Africa could see what was going on - he was about breaking the chains of Mental slavery. So, i am really confused. Europe tries to get in bad leaders to rule africa- while pouring billions into african aid. So they spend so much tie trying to keep Africa down, while spending less time on their competitors Like seriously listen to yourself? yes, i have heard ITT. Fela was a great musician and political critique, but like you paranoid . He was still claiing aids wasn't real uptill his death . He claimed in ITT that europeans were taking money from africa to fuel their economy- but that is exactly the same thing china and india are doing. What you guys think is growth in Africa is pseudo growth, also known as commodity growth. Due to the needs of two emerging economies, it seems africa is growing but immediately these countries dont need us theyw ould leave us in the cold like Europe and then your son would come here complaining about racist chinese and indians who were taking africa's resources away ![]() Well you need to read more not just do a quick, 5 minute look at articles on Wikipedia otherwise you will struggle to fathom the issues I discussI get better things to do, but i think europeans placed leaders to favor their interest- which makes sense. However think, can someone become a leader with overwhelming support from a group of people? Even though nigerian politics is rigged- it was done with significant support from the all our leaders. If there is significant dissent. I have placed myself in a gridlock- if you noticed. I would extricate myself by saying that agreed europe might be trying to further their interest- but all is fair in this competitive world |
bow and arrow ![]() Sefago,I read it b4 i posted, I said it was a joke- I was makng a jab at the obviously tribalistic poster who started the thread. I do have a twisted sense of humor- but is that a problem? |
i owe u a can of beer!I would argue slightly differently though. I don't think the leaders were corrupt per se. African tribes had a very strong leadership structure. The leaders felt they were just doing the usual trade by batter that was commonplace in Africa. The slave trade to the Africans was just business, and nothing personal. Infact have you heard of madam tinubu: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madam_Tinubu she was strongly against the abolition of the slave trade and was a very famous slave trader. But she stopped when she found out that the slavery in the Americas/Europe was horrible compared to the more human one practiced in africa. I also remember the oba kosoko and akintoye story. I remember fela kuti sang in his song that the british removed kosoko. Fela was saying the british were trying to get lagos by deposing of oba akintoye and how hey were aided by shameless africans. However, this wasn't the case. Akintoye was against slave trade, and he was removed because of this and replaced by kosoko- the british removed kosoko to prevent him from continuing the slave trade with portugal. However, it was too late- significant amount of yorubas had been sold by kosoko and madam tinubu to the portuguese. My case in point- we africans suffer too much from paranoia |
Its interesting how you call them "small pea billionaires", how much money have you made?Thats not the point. Do u really know why I called them small peas billionaires? Look at how they made their money- agreed money is money, but sometimes the way other people make money is very different. Has Oprah used the money she got to invest in other areas and made significant profit from it? Appearing on TV and getting paid a lot for your personalitydoesn't signify much. [SCIENCE]This is one of the greatest frauds of our generation ![]() [ SCIENCE and BUSINESS]Thank you IBB . However, case-in-point, Adenuga is investing outside nigeria- if he manages to compete very well in a foreign market, adn not on a tuft where he can bribe his way through- I would be really impressed [BUSINESS]brilliant man. But he is just one of the wheels in the machinery of credit suisse ( an european bank). Consider the other wheels and their deals- i doubt europeans would include a member of credit suisse as a credit to their race. [BUSINESS]Good an industrialist. Simple stuff like sugar refining and what any mallam can figure out. I want him to start a hedge fund with his money, investing in areas where he is not guaranteed an unfair monopoly. Launch a pharmaceutical company which engages in research and development. Most importantly, I want to see people in the vein of Li Ka Shing, Lakshmi Mittal and not small boys and local champions ![]() |
Why is Africa beggining to get richer? , thats a first. Maybe its because we are beginning to adjust to the economic system. Please tell me what african countries are growing richer? And tell me what aspect of their industry is growing richer? And most importantly tell me if their groth is based on internal factors (industry within the country) or external factors (exports of raw materials to fuel real growth in emerging economies like China or India) Why did Europeans and American prevent Awolowo, Lumumba, Nkurumah and Toure from ruling?Nkrumah ruled mate, he his government was actually very good, but like most recent post-colonial governments, it declined in transparency, infact Nkrumahs term was marked by significant corruption. This has been historically documented. You could read Ayi Kwei Armah's "Beautyful ones are not yet born" and he portrayed Nkrumah's government as very corrupt. Furthermore Nkrumah was a brilliant leader, but he was also wanted to industrialize Ghana as quickly as possible, and so he incurred massive debt as a result, which affected the ghanian economy. His government was marked by bad governance and unplanned spending which later led to a coup- but i would admit he was a brilliant leader. Awolowo- was also a good leader- i wouldn't expantiate because most nigerians know about him. I dont really know much about the others. i know lumumba was a congolese and such. Tell me why dose Africa not have a fair trade agreement with Europe or the USA? If they did can't you see that Africa would be lifted out of poverty? Are u dumb? U need to have something they want mate. Thats why it is called trade Huh. All africa has is natural resources without much skill power to develop it. Crude oil would be what it is without manufacturing and refining it- crude. They have trade agreements with other countries who have what they want- countries who trade not just unmanufactured products, but manufactured products, skill power and such. Why set up trade agreements with a region full of corrupt leaders, incompetent politicians and infrastructures. Are you really really this dense? Please ask good questions, I am beginning to vex. You remind me of mugabe, blaming everything on europeans while wrecking his country at the ssame time, and sending his wife on shopping sprees to europe and hong kong |
For those people who are not aware- Africans haven't contributed anything significant to the science or business- and you guys could call me names from morning to night it wouldn't change things.I am actually glad, you brought up my post- i used the word significant, not some small pea billionaires, or just one or two scientists. |
[EVERYTHING]how does being president of a predominantly european nation prove anything. Look carefully, you are falling prey to the exact same issues you are claiming to make people aware of. [ SCIENCE and BUSINESS]Agree, I eat my words on that. But i really meant chemistry/biology/physics [BUSINESS]No, No- please dont ever add someone like oprah when we are talking of business. I would even prefer dangote. By the way she got rich of white-middle class women. [BUSINESS]slightly better example. Also in entertainment. i meant one in the financial markets, industry and oil business and such. Like business leaders Ofcourse it is expected blacks would make money in the entertainment industry- i am more surprised that we don't have more entertainment billionaires considering the fact that every american is now obssessed with lil' wayne on the hos ![]() |

The truth is China should have been a superpower a looooong time ago they are late commers; with that said, China has a trade agreement with Europe and the US and The US trade deficit with China widened 9.2 per cent in September to $22.1 billion - the highest since November 2008. China pretty much owns 50% of the US Financial sector too so do you understand why they can feed all their people? Presently: 47% of young children in India are malnourished, and up to a third of the world's undernourished children are Indian.India has a population over 1 billion. They have the same population problem as china and these could hamper their developmet. AIDS wouldn't affect india's growth. The problem is that india's growth is lopsided. They have been significantly favored by IT outsourcing, with the rise of infosy and satyam- and the movement of several western jobs into india. Also biotechnology is rising. Plus a very well-educated class- even if 20% of india is educated, that is about the same size as the whole population of nigeria. In addition, India is trying to abolish their caste system, and introduce people of the lowest class into higher-level positions especially positions usually limited to the brahmin. They are making progress mate. It might take a million strides to get where u want, but u need to take little ones first to reach that goal. But the trans-atlantic slave trade was the cruelest and Africa has not yet recovered - especially mentally Grin 6million Jews were gassed by Hitler and we hear about it all the time. On the other hand 10 million Africans, the same blood as you were chucked int he Atlantic ocean when they were sick at sea - to overlook that as an African is pure ignorance. The trans-atlantic slave trade was an european-african collaboration. And yes it was a reeemix. However I would concede that the chattel slavery was in no way similar to sub-saharan slavery and that the behavior of the europeans was just purely abominable. I think it would hurt more knowing that you were sold by your own blood into slavery, and that this people refused to stop the slavery even when europeans enacted laws to abolish it. What are you proud about?I am proud of our diverse culture and traditions. I do not consider it anyways inferior to another culture, and i believe it was well-suited for our purpose- i believe less deaths/pain would have occurred is the west had never come in contact with Africa. I am also proud of the fact that despite being rapidly introduced into a foreign system (The new world order of globalization) in which we were at a significant disadvantage- we were versatile enough to learn the lingo and dance of this new culture- we have struggled through sorrows, tears and blood and achieved a lot. I am very much aware that as of now, we haven't contributed anything significant, but I am also cognizant that our potential is infinite. @violent- good post, I am happy people are becoming well aware of our deficiencies and no more making silly, unnecessary excuses |
Now the stupid is on how many posts I have on nairaland. Does that now have something to do with my being a Nigerian or not? Why not focus on the topic here which happens to be a real issue to be tackled?I was just worried about you, I dont want you to get cancer from staring at the screen, waiting for someone to spew your pent-up anger on. pele |
Ain't got none to say to your ass today cause it'll be same ol bulshit debate about how Nigeria is the worst nation on earth. G[i]ive me 9hrs, I gotta finish my project, sleep, go to school [/i]and submit my project then I'll be back to you. That is why i love NL, I feel like we are one big |
kobojunkie do u really have 12,000 posts Vocal Superiority : Since you grew up carrying out normal conversation at full-volume bellowed. eardrum-assaulting noise levels, you will have the ability to alert bystanders to your imposing presence, everywhere you go in the world, without the need to constantly enquire from those peasants if they know who you are, thus saving you considerable time and effort that would otherwise have been consumed in the tedious task of educating the ignorant. This is why people have a 1000 posts without presenting stuff that is constructive |
The guy that wrote it is a member of NL you know!well that has reduced the credibility |
I am glad you have a grasp of the structure of that society butI think only significant education as well as maybe programs like NYSC. But considering the fact how education has proven incapable of curing tribalistic |
My point is that they should be compared as a monolith, than individually or separate group as you mentioned earleir. And that is why southern unity is a bit more difficult because there is a clash of cultures and old traditions, as well as significant distrust. Infact, i have been reading this really interesting book, i think you should read it too: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0875867081?ie=UTF8&tag=naijarules-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0875867081 |
I can never be succinct. So well I am not against it or for it- would i do it- no. Do I care about what he did- no. I just find it interesting that this would paint Nigerians in bad light with no consideration of the cause-effect scenario. |
