yes, the british aided and abetted the nigerian FG during the civil war. I can guess their reasons, but does anyone have real data exactly why?

So how am I expected to love somebody who defended his people to my own detriment? Little wonder then that Awo has no respect outside Yorubaland
I dont think anyone is here trying to make you love Awo. I for one dont love any nigerian leader- i believe we should learn from their mistakes, but not to monumentalize them. And I think Awo's action was in line with the politics of that time. Yoruba people are like gold-diggers, if you do not give money to a golddigger (i.e if awolowo did not in anyways take steps to defend his people) then the golddigger would leave his/her lover in the cold. Awolowo was probably not tribalistic- ambitious yes- but who isn't?

I think we should also avoid a linear and simplistic perspective in debate- consider the dynamics of a culture, b4 placing criticism.

so stuff that happened 40 years ago, and crimes committed by men long dead are major contributors to nigeria's problem?

It is good that Nigerians of all hue can work together, especially the Igbo and Yoruba, the two tribes I consider most important in Nigeria. However, we should not defend what is wrong. On the bolded part, who is federal govt that made the federal law? Was Awo not the defacto VP and finance minister who hatched the idea to decimate Igbo finances? Yoruba should learn to look beyond Awo and work with others. The tribalism that Awo introduced into the system has remained the root cause of Nigeria's problems till date. No hard feelings, though
that i didnt know, could explain more how he hatched the plan, and how he introduced tribalism. I am actually interested in learning, and not for arguing senselessly sake-you seem to be one of the few people who actually tell things as they are.

If the 20 pounds was an insult. . . why did your people accept it? Thery should have shoved it back at the FG. Its unlikely that in any future Biafran uprising you will be as lucky as was the case in the 70s that your abandoned properties were returned to you. I honestly cannot fathom the reasoning behind the returns. . . in war there are lessons to be learnt. You continue to invest heavily in foreign territories that are rival to your political interests, at the same time that you incessantly beat the war drums to reinvent Biafra and its associated hostilities. Doesn't sound like the lessons are learnt to me. . . what do you think?
What a beauty grin grin grin
Politics › Re: Dr Alban Vs Dbanj(d'banj Is Arrogant) by SEFAGO(m): 11:08pm On Nov 17, 2009
^ goodpoint, very few people in nigeria actually listen to dr alban now, unlike dbanj. Even dr alban asking to do a collabo with dbanj tells you that no condition is permanent. I dont know what caused the trouble sha and i am not going to comment.

Some people go argue with you.
I meant non-africans outside africa. It would be rare to see some european guy singing "booty call booty call" or "mo gbono fele fele" but I have seen a lot who actually like dr alban, and I have met a shitload who admire Fela kuti too

Insert Quote
you see Yoruba people don't know their mate, they forget too easily

what did dbanj do again?
Its not about tribe mate, its about being african- dr albans decision to proudly sing in the thick african accent was ballsy- I am sure if you live in europe/america you will understand how difficult it is to use your thick nigeiran accent infront of other people except fellow nigerians. Many atimes, i have seen people with crisp british/american accents who break into thick nigerian ones when they find out i am from nigeria. Usually my response is shocked shocked.

And guess what his music also sold too

Infact both him and haddaway are one of the two greatest pioneers of dance music. Dbanj na small boy- he should know his level na. Immediately you leave the shores of africa no one knows dbanj.

Politics › Re: I Am Proud Of Nigeria No Matter What They Say. by SEFAGO(m): 9:23pm On Nov 17, 2009
So, I was just sitting down, and thinking about nigeria- then it came to my mind that how much it would suck if nigeria's soccer team was no more and there was biafra soccer team  undecided, omo oduduwa soccer team  lipsrsealed, and northern sultanate soccer teams.

just consider what would be their nicknames from all I have learned on nairaland . Instead of the super eagles we would have for the igbo team would be called the super complainers squad , the yoruba team would be called the indomitable 419 squad, the northern soccer team would be called the roaring cattle rearers. I was also worried because it would be unlikely that people from the north would be able to spell their names correctly on their shirts. In addition- if anyteam loses to theother, it could lead to serious clashes.

Just my two cents

I am so happy we made the world cup grin

But theres no reason to hate another tribe. I have igbo fam in anambra, abia and delta they always talk mess about yorubas and vice versa but theres no hate between us. Who knows I might actually go the east/southsouth after the kindappings and militants calm down
yes, infact, I am considering having igbo wivesss, wife. That doesn't mean I wouldn't poke fun at ignorant igbo ppl

NL is a true representation of Nigeria. You have the tribalists, the idiots, the uneducated walking around in posh clothes and the very witty. Some of the arguments that go on here are pretty daft if you ask me and unwarranted!
Glad you are a big fan of gandhi. Your post personified one of your citiques.

2) The Ignorants - These people provide the comedy I alluded to ealier, some of them believe that grammar equals intelligence and when backed to corner will resort to insults. All most all the time everything to them is either black or white, you'll have a hard time having a sensible conversation with them and for this group common sense is not common
yayy, representing strong. All my fellow ignorants should assemble her too, let us represent strong. Don't make other groups beat us too

The major difference between us is the language. We can look above the labuage difference and unite.
Language is the least of our differences- culture is probably the largest. However, I agree that we can look past these differences

MG this has to be the funniest thing I've read today. U dey really vex o tpia.
@ SEFAGO I see u have shed your transexual status and reverted back to your true gender. How was the op
It was fine, but expensive- I couldn't use health insurance because i didn't have any. But now that Obama's universal health insurance seems likely to pass, I might actually have full coverage for subsequent operations so that I can keep switching between male and female anyime I want.

But I think I really want to go back to being female  tongue kiss.

I miss being called lady sefago, countess sefago, transexual and such buy people with stupid anmes like beaf and onlytruth.

@naijababe
Why the interest in my short transexual period- oh I get it, you kinky little girl  wink

yorubas eat where they shit

yorubas are filthy animals

yorubas are the lousiest and smelliest tribe

yorubas are horribly ugly

yorubas arent human

yorubas are the blackest negroes. they are so black because they betrayed Igbos
This is termed dehumanizing of a specific ethnicity by one group. In case you guys dont know ezeagu and company are preparing a genocide against the yoruba and hausas, while using jona and becomrich as a smokescreen to hide the real issues in mind:

grin Now, I am beginning to display igbo paranoia.
