Whoops, didn't know University of Chicago was private. Anyways, my point still stands
Surprised though about the Chicago comment. No way in hell though that the student body at UCL is even close to Gtown. Man trust me, I am not making empty claims here, the amount of daft students I have encountered- non-Nigerian sef trumps that at my undergrad. For undergrad I can confidently say Georgetown>UCL. But UCL smashes Georgetown in all measures for research. They are not in the same class though. Georgetown is s/h/i/t for research. I would prefer to go and work in unilag than do a PhD there. However at undergraduate level the students there are better than the kids at UCL. However, thats what those rankings are about- world class research.

Do you know how many of my friends studied abroad at UCL? They would laugh if you even claim the kids are smart. At least the kids in my school can differentiate and integrate equations on a daily basis.

Which areas of academics are the UK universities actually elite at? Like, without a doubt in anyone's mind, some university in the UK is top 10 or 20 at area X?
UCL is elite for the biomedical sciences about the same level as Yale, So is Cambridge- the MRC laboratory is top notch. Manchester is top notch for physics (They have Geim) but its no Princeton. Oxfords great for the humanities. LSE and UCL for economics. Actually I will be honest lots of the researchers there are top notch, its just that they have lots of people are the undergraduate level who are average. Lots of Cancer Institutes in the UK are excellent, well known in their field. I considered going to UCL or Cambridge for graduate school but thought it might be a bad idea.

The interesting thing about the UK is that they have lots of top notch researchers spread out even at non-top universities while in the US everyone is just concentrated at Harvard, Yale e.t.c Thats how their undergrad system is- they have lots of average kids then you are going to meet very smart ones.

Interesting thing though, they are kind of more relaxed than Americans. You know how in the US every graduate student acts like they are actually doing crap. Well in the UK they dont care. Whenever their supervisor is in the lab you still see them heading for lunch breaks. Yikes  grin. Another interesting thing was that they did not spend the same amount of time in the lab that we do in the US, like you know how you spend 15 hours in the lab on nairaland while claiming to be working a lot. These guys leave straight away immediately it clocks 5 PM.

Not like you haven't been telling us why you are in that position. This thread alone will provide such claims.
Speak not of what you know not. If not you come out looking like a fool.
PoliticsRe: Uganda Gay Rights Activist David Kato Killed by SEFAGO(m): 5:55am On Jan 30, 2011
Are you suggesting that all the daft kids from rich Nigerian homes all got into UK schools? Are you suggesting in the same vein that some of these daft kids from rich homes did not get into US schools? That is my problem with your argument. If your assertions were true, all the Nigerians in US schools would be very smart or at least smarter than the Nigerians in UK schools.
TBH, I personally dont give too hoots about you either. You are just wasting my time. Do you actually have a point? There are lots of brilliant Nigerian kids in the UK- know quite a lot- and there are a lot of daft ones. However, understand that daft is also relative. I would consider you daft if you dont place in the solid top 10% of your cohort.

i never said there were no brilliant students in UK universities. Fstranger explained to you what I meant. You are just trying to prolong a debate thats pretty obvious.

So you think the fact that my privacy was breached and it pissed me off for a long tym is more important than your ego about british schools? You think I actually give a crap about british universities or your bloody opinion? Or even about universities in general? Do you think this is about universities. Get the F*U*C*K out of my sight.
PoliticsRe: Uganda Gay Rights Activist David Kato Killed by SEFAGO(m): 5:48am On Jan 30, 2011
Katsumoto, I have said several times on nairaland, that only because of my environment was I able to even get a scholarship not because of my pure ability. There are way more qualified students in Nigeria that should be in place. I doubt many in the UK can claim though that they are at my academic level.

Speak not of what you know not.

Also Katsumoto, do you think I should reveal personal information on why I have the right to judge. You must be daft if you think even 80% of what I have written is factual. I have only given you nuggets on why I can judge british schools at the undergraduate level. I will choose not to give you the full picture  grin

Moreover, maybe because you are a bit on the adult side? Currently the high fliers who emerge as the best in WAEC head for the US and not the UK.

There are top US professors who think that Said Business School (Oxford) and Judge Business School (Cambridge) are the best business schools in Europe. There is a lot of ignorance about things outside the US by those in the US because there is an air of superiority.
Ok lets be clear. I am talking about the undergraduate level. You keep mixing stuff up.

2. Which misinformed professor would claim that these two schools are the best in Europe. So what happened to LBS and INSEAD? Hmm keep going sha. You must definitely think top US professors are daft. Oxford ko, Cambridge ni
PoliticsRe: Uganda Gay Rights Activist David Kato Killed by SEFAGO(m): 5:27am On Jan 30, 2011
I guess it depends on the area. ETH and EPFL are highly respected in my own area, more so than any of the British universities. But I'm sure that for something like economics, LSE might be better (this is pure speculation on my part, I'm not an economist.)

Regarding language, I think pretty much everyone publishes in English these days, so cannot really use that as an excuse.

Hungary is a pretty underrated country as far as mathematics go. I really wanted to do a semester abroad there, but unfortunately never had the time.
Yeah true, but not all schools though. Yeah word on hungary is it budapest university? They are sick in mathematics.

I guess you miss my point. Tell me why Sefago should be in a position to look down on students who get into British universities?
I dont. I have had an awesome time working with people at Cambridge et al. However, there is more history in this than you think or know about. You should know me enough to know i did not start nothing until something gets started. I dey sit my own jeje when someone . . . start dey look for my own trouble. Look I am generally a peace loving guy, I just love boasting online and trying to piss people off to pass time but in general if you ignore me we get along, I joke with fstranger everyday how smart I am, and its all but a joke. Fstranger just laughs it off, Ileke-Idi humors me, infact no one really takes me seriously. However when you go as far as to try and get personal information on me and stalk me on various forums- then you have kind of crossed a line. So speak not of what you know not.

You definitely went to a british school though. Trust me I am very perspicacious. No way in hell you would defend british schools if you did not attend one.

@ SEFAGO, Cambridge is not living off reputation, in my opinion. If anything, Dartmouth that you've mentioned on here is living off Ivy league reputation. Same with Brown University.
Yeah the saying goes- remove the ivy label from dartmouth and brown and you get tufts. But these schools have extremely good students. Anyways Cambridge is still strong and is getting stronger every years. Oxford on the other hand is slipping. Rice University already has bigger citation impacts than they do. Oxford has not won a nobel laureate in science for the past 20 years.

You have stated several times that you are a scientist, why not deal with facts? You don't know where I schooled or how many degrees I have. I have no interest in revealing personal data about myself because it doesn't serve any purpose.
Scientists infer stuff too you know. Come on. It would give me an idea of the level of your bias. You have not told me your problem with my argument. Are you saying that all the kids I know who were daft, just got smarter in a jiffy? Yeah I have the right to look down on those who try and demean me, and make statements they know nothing about. Especially if they went to bristol. You dont know the history so dont talk.

@PhysicsMHD

I agree 100% with the WW thing. Glad to find someone who has similar theories. I have always held a similar opinion that the UK lost the war even though they thought they won the war. The influx of East European Jews revolutionized American Science. Then after the world war UK lost India and then most of its colonies. If there was no WW probably there might have been no changes, and infact Nigeria might never have gained independence. Shocking how events are dictated by little things.

I personally think a similar event would catapult our (or my) beloved country into global dominance.
PoliticsRe: Uganda Gay Rights Activist David Kato Killed by SEFAGO(m): 4:45am On Jan 30, 2011
You need to get off that high horse. You do realise that there are people who didn't get excellent grades in high school because they weren't focused but went on to achieve excellent undergraduate degrees.
The fact is that they got accepted. In my group we kind of know that british schools are easy to get into. Year in Year out I see kids get into Imperial, LSE and Oxford who are not even the best in Nigeria. When I see a pattern, I am allowed to make conclusions. I live in a very up-scale neighborhood in Nigeria, and everyone goes to a top UK university. Like no joke. However when they apply to the US even UT Austin na wahala for them to get.

You want to tell me that all the half-brained dullards I saw going to Loughborough, Newcastle, Sheffield, bristol all became smart at a go. WTF  grin

My bitterness stems from the fact that some of the best brains in Nigeria will be left to rot because they cannot afford to pay for the same quality of education as some rich kids with slightly decent brains.

The best students in my school never got the opportunity to school abroad, they all went to Nigerian universities. Most of them hustled to just get a 2:1 my really smart friend could only make a 2:2 because of some evil lecturer. However, some i/d/i/ots on nairaland will call them m/o/r/ons.
PoliticsRe: Uganda Gay Rights Activist David Kato Killed by SEFAGO(m): 4:35am On Jan 30, 2011
Regarding graduate research, in the three or four areas I know about decently well, UK universities aren't making much of an impact. The leaders are all American universities, both in volume and quality. There are some Canadians, French and Germans who are doing pretty well too. But UK, nothing
Word on that. Personally I think world rankings are flawed because they focus on anglophone countries. The Germans the French are doing great work but everyone is focussed on anglophone countries. The only non-anglophone school that is known is ETH and EPFL and these schools publish papers in English. German schools, Berlin, Heidelberg, LMU Munich do amazing work and these guys are smart as hell. But no one ranks them well. The Dutch TU Delft and Leiden are also amazing and their anglophone equivalents are no better in research.

Attempting to equate Oxbridge with regular American universities is a lay attempt at 'bigging yourself up'. Since you didn't get into Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, etc you ridicule the top universities in the British university system so as to feel more intelligent than everyone who schooled in the UK.
Katsumoto, Did you school in the UK? I know you did so you probably would side the right group. I remember a conversation with you, and you made a comment to that effect. Dont take this personally tbh. Find out the history before you start making talking.

Who told you I could not get into HYPS? Did I apply? Did you know the reasons why I did not apply? In heart I always wanted to go to a LAC. My dad made me turn in an application for my undergrad and Cornell. I got into both. But I still wanted to go to Williams College no matter what happens, that will still be the best school in my heart.

U jump into a conversation you know nothing about. How many universities have you been to Katsumoto? So you think that Columbia is regular? And Dartmouth? Rily? Have you worked in academia or is everything you know based on hearsay?

Also, Oxbridge does not admit anyone with money; if money was the major determinant, everyone at University of Buckingham would attend Oxbridge.
You think so? I went to school with tons of kids who went to elite boarding schools in the US and the UK, I know how money works wonders in both systems.
PoliticsRe: Uganda Gay Rights Activist David Kato Killed by SEFAGO(m): 4:18am On Jan 30, 2011
Something doesn't quite add up for me, though. If you can get into the best schools in the UK with average standardized testing results, where do the kids who do well on these exams go to? Do they study in the US?
\

I think you are having the same problem as most brits in understanding differences in system. Because these kids dont do well in the SAT does not mean that they are not smart. Most are as capable as their American peers. My claim has always been though that there are better students in the US by virtue of the population. Oxbridge takes the top 1% of the UK, the top 1-2% in the US are spread over the top 15-17 Universities and top 10 LACs with some schools having a lot of the best, while Berkeley and Michigan getting a large chunk of the top brains too. UK schools have large student bodies relative to american ones so not everyone is elite academically. This has been my experience.

However, I was really disappointed with the quality of students I encountered in some of the universities there. This is not to score points. Its interesting that the science kids in my school were better than kids who went to good research schools but were just academically average. So they could boast about how top their school was for research while being dullards grin.

How easy is it to study medicine in the UK and then practice in the US?
Not that hard to practise. It would be hard to get into a med school in the UK. They have quotas. One of my family friend, pretty smart could not get into med school at UCL because of the quota system. Your sister would not be accepted in the UK anyways since the high school education in the US is supposedly not up to standard according to the brits. (I beg to differ after seeing some second year engineers who cannot differentiate to save their lives)

Tell her to consider St Andrews in scotland though they love americans.

I want to believe your 1400+ was on the Old SAT.

That said, if you cannot get into Tufts with a 1400, then you must either have applied late or you did not apply at all. Despite the fact that my brother did not crack 2100 on the new SAT, Mellon and Rice were still begging him to come, good all round application otherwise.
Yeah the old one. I took the old one and the new one. No I never applied to tufts. Seems u lost the plot Tiger. Anyways I had to win a scholarship. Contrary to what you think my parents are not wealthy and beat out the hordes or people competing with me.

That said, if you cannot get into Tufts with a 1400, then you must either have applied late or you did not apply at all. Despite the fact that my brother did not crack 2100 on the new SAT, Mellon and Rice were still begging him to come, good all round application otherwise.
your brother is enjoying the benefits of AA. Most of us internationals go in with the chinese and the koreans. Thats why I always have to work harder. Even after a 2230 the second time I knew I would always have to be better than everyone to have a shot. Thats why I worked my butt of in college. If I was a US Citizen I would be at Harvard anyways, and that gave me enough confidence to excel. I knew I always had to be better than the average chinese. Its worked wonders though to be honest, and I am happy with my achievements.

See why I can laugh at sagamite with so much confidence.

PS: So I could have gone to oxford for undergrad if i had done A -levels. Oh mehn, I wish i knew.
Definitely. Do your parents have kishi? Just do your A-levels at Harrow, and you would have an oxon next to your name.

Swarthmore, Dartmouth > UCL (Swarthmore has produced more science Nobel Laureates at the Undergraduate level than UCL+Imperial combined)

Anyway, good to know that UK colleges admission requirements arent as strict as US colleges'
Dont tell that to british people because those guys think they are still number one. I lived there for a while and man some of them kept on telling me that Imperial is as good as MIT. I was like- for real?
PoliticsRe: Uganda Gay Rights Activist David Kato Killed by SEFAGO(m): 3:39am On Jan 30, 2011
I just dont believe that. Tuft is a decent school , but not on the same level as Oxford.
I know two kids who got a 2100 and are at Oxford now. Do you think a 2100 is a stunning score?

Those schools would take any Nigerian who can pay them. They are cash strapped as hell.

Money first, academics second is how british universities operate cheesy

there are some Nigerians at red-bricks who would not even get into unilag all things being equal. However, you will see them on nairaland boasting about how the Nigerian educational system is poor and how everyone who graduated from Nigerian Universities is a m/o/r/o/n
PoliticsRe: Uganda Gay Rights Activist David Kato Killed by SEFAGO(m): 3:33am On Jan 30, 2011
So let's compare the average Oxford student versus the average student at American University X. Which university is most comparable?
Its hard to judge. I rarely criticize Oxbridge or LSE and Imperial. These schools are a class ahead of their peers. If you step down though- I have honestly had experience in both systems and I can swear to you that i am not lying hear:

UCL, Warwick et al maybe top 25 at best
Bristol, Edinburgh, Nottingham et all Tufts and below at best. They definitely would not make Boston College, maybe a large public state university at best.

About 10-15 kids in my school went to Notts to would not under any circumstance crack Tufts even with affirmative action going on for them. fstranger if you want I could tell you their WAEC scores- most made no A1 at all or at most 1 A1. That tells you how intelligent they are. Ask sagamite to tell you how well he did in Nigeria. Trust me the guy will tell you nada but just call you a mo/r/o/n.

I had a professor who taught once at this universities and he was told by the exam board (they have exam boards which is kind of weird) to keep dumbing down the test because the students were incapable of doing too much calculus. Imagine an engineer who cannot differentiate at the speed of light? Well they have tons of them in these schools. The guy packed himself back to the US, were at least you need to apply some thinking to pass an exam.
PoliticsRe: Uganda Gay Rights Activist David Kato Killed by SEFAGO(m): 3:25am On Jan 30, 2011
So let's compare the average Oxford student versus the average student at American University X. Which university is most comparable?

And same question for Cambridge, UCL, LSE, etc.

I don't know much about the British education system and was under the assumption that Oxford and Cambridge are roughly comparable to say Harvard and Stanford (the two American universities I respect the most, personally.)

Perhaps I was too generous to the Brits in assuming this.
Well for what Undergraduate or at the graduate level? In terms of research impact Cambridge is around the same level of citation impact as University of Minnesota. These schools are just living on their name. They have not produced any famous researchers for years. Can you name any famous theorist or experimentalist from these schools? Yes Cambridge has Frenkel but who else? Nada

For undergraduate they are roughly equal but then I would even place Columbia and Dartmouth as good as Oxford. These schools have been producing quality graduates way more than Oxford for a long tym. Its what you are taught in school that matters not some old reputation.

I just dont believe that. Tuft is a decent school , but not on the same level as Oxford.

Check your facts genius.

Tuft is like a third tier college, not that difficult to get into.
Never said they were. I said they were different. A kid can screw up on the SAT and do excellently on the A-levels. I saw this consistently in Nigeria. If you are good in chemistry, physics and further mathematics but suck at verbal reasoning do you think you are going to crack past Tufts? For example, I had excellent grades in  so I definitely would not be attending crap like bristol thats for sure. But my first SAT score was a 1400+ which was just decent anyways. they are two different things. One test reasoning, the other tests your ability to do past exams very well.
PoliticsRe: Uganda Gay Rights Activist David Kato Killed by SEFAGO(m): 3:02am On Jan 30, 2011
Also from my experience working extensively in the UK university system, a lot of their research is being performed by foreigners- lots of germans, lots of bulgarians, lots of russians- these guys have brains though to. Not people with bristish undergraduate degrees.

Same thing is happening to the US though, so dont know what to say. Should start packing my bags for china or switzerland.

PoliticsRe: Uganda Gay Rights Activist David Kato Killed by SEFAGO(m): 2:53am On Jan 30, 2011
Is there a list of average SAT scores for these British universities? I guess that would allow us to compare them to the American ones more easily.
TBH they are not the same. I know kids in my area who at Oxford but would not get the SAT score to make tufts. Its kind of a different system. Its based more on knowing your subject as opposed to having pure intelligence.

While sexual behaviour may be chosen, the preponderance of researchers say attraction is dictated by biology, with no demonstrated contribution from social factors such as parenting or other factors after birth.

How on earth is it possible to get into UCL with an SAT score of 1250. Is it not supposed to be one of the better British universities?
Yeah but the people there are kind of academically average relative to US universities. They generally cram for exams, they have like no midterms and just have one exam in which the students spend 4 weeks practising exam papers. Its exactly like the Nigerian system. He did not get in with his SAT, he wanted to go to Caltech, took the SAT screwed up, and then opted for the next best place where you can get in with half a brain.

UCL is top quality for research but the undergraduate is about slightly above average.

Got pissed that he attended UCL and decided to Boom shacka lacka boom.

However, on the other hand, there is also a group a people who believe that if homosexuality is in fact genetically linked, then there should be a way to genetically alter homosexuals in order to make them "normal"
Hmm . . . seen this a couple of times. Really some people are daft sha
PoliticsRe: Uganda Gay Rights Activist David Kato Killed by SEFAGO(m): 2:43am On Jan 30, 2011
Let me tackle the first part. When we establish the first part we can tackle the second.

For the first part, we could use ecology itself- inference from the behavior of other animals, and then we could go to the molecular level. I have already indicated that even trying to map a series of genes that could lead to gay behavior would suck. Any of those scientist trying to do it is going to spend 20-30 years of his life on worthless and unfundable research. But anyways some people are trying:

One of the most influential studies on the genetics of homosexuality was done by Dean Hamer and his co-workers at the National Cancer Institute in Washington DC (1993). Hamer's research involved studying thirty-two pairs of brothers who were either "exclusively or mostly" homosexual. None of the sets of brothers were related. Of the thirty-two pairs, Hamer and his colleagues found that two-thirds of them (twenty-two of the sets of brothers) shared the same type of genetic material. This strongly supports the hypothesis that there is an existing gene that influences homosexuality (4). Hamer then looked closely at the DNA of these gay brothers to try and find the region of the X chromosome (since the earlier research suggested that the gene was passed down maternally) that most of the homosexual brothers shared. He discovered that homosexual brothers have a much higher likelihood of inheriting the same genetic sequence on the region of the X chromosome identified by Xq28, than heterosexual brothers of the same gay men. Keep in mind though, that this is just a region of the X chromosome, not a specific gene. Although researchers are hopeful, a single gene has not yet been identified (7). Hamer's study also acknowledges the fact that while it does suggest that there is a gene that influences homosexuality, it has not yet been determined how greatly the gene influences whether or not a person will be homosexual (4). In addition, Hamer attempted to locate a similar gene in female homosexuals, but was unsuccessful (7). The results that Hamer's study did find though, cannot yet be accepted as absolute truth. Another study took place in 1993 by Macke et al. This study examined the same gene locus as the Hamer study, but found that it had no influence on homosexuality (cool. As you can see, the results on this topic are still extremely varied and reasonably new, so it is difficult to come to any lasting conclusion.

I agree with you that family and societal pressures can affect anyone's freewill to make a well informed choice. But in today's world I doubt it has any influence on people still going into polygamy.

You need to research more on why some are still going into polygamy. IMO it has nothing or very little to do with family or societal pressure. And I also think their decision is now more autonomous than before.
I actually agree with this. That women have started making more informed decisions, but most times polygamy stems from societal structures. I am talking about third world cultures. See I could tell you were smart.  However, I doubt I am wrong on the autonomy bit. I did write a paper once on autonomy and womens rights. I remember using this as a source:

http://www.californialawreview.org/assets/pdfs/98-1/Richards.pdf

Its quite interesting though attempts to use the polygamy debate and stuff. Honestly homophobes who use it on me first of all think I have a problem with pedophiles or polygamy et al. Nah I am an anarchist, bring it on, and argue for it based on well researched grounds and I will accept it. I would point out that polygamy rights is a complex case, and so it bestiality e.t.c The issue with drawing parallels between any of these is that an argument for one cannot be reciprocated for another anyways going for line by line of thought. One can argue that Pedophiles are born that way, but can one argue that they do not cause harm to the society? One can argue that zoophilia is a psychological condition, and could be genetic, but can one argue confidently that it causes no harm to society or to animals in general by causing significant disease jumps across cross-species? Ok you talk about polygamy but the case of polygamy is not just one sided, its multifaceted. We have to go into its effect on the government, on womens rights on so many other themes. Lets take it bit by bit. Drawing contradictory parallels such as Homos are similar to Pedophiles e.t.c are impossible. I generally ignore such weak logic and look for more nuggety logic.

The case for homos is a complex one, one that draws on our current knowledge of biology, on our foundations for ethics and morality, on how we have come to view religion and humanity in the 21st century. Its difficult. Thats why this debate is going no where. The first stop would be science- the last stop would be adjudicated by ethicist and moralists. If peer reviewed scientists come out with findings that homos are born that way then i see no reason to believe people with no science background to claim information just based on their opinion and no research.

Interesting article. I doubt you guys would get the gist though. I can bet what you guys are going to say. Hint: All these professors have gay agenda.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/dec/01/homosexuality-genetics-usa

Let me let you on a little secret about my own opinion. To argue against homo banging its quite weak to bring in other parallels. Even the reverse- racism is tad bit silly. You need to attack the synthesized points one for one. Not bring crap like pedophiles, disgusting e.t.c

What I have seen here is just weak and pathetic.

Lets stop the parallels and get ahead with the basics.

1. Is Homosexuality an inherited trait (The Biologist- Molecular, Cell or Systems)- This would need parallels to other animals, to understand biological behavior more
2. If so how much should we tolerate it in society (The Moralist and Ethicist)

Yes, kids I beat in school senseless are at those places right now. You can make claims from morning to night, it will not change that fact. I know it because I talk to them on a regular basis. Its right there- Ranked 30th in class, went to Imperial, ranked 15th went to Oxford.

Would You ignore me now or do u wanna keep going and making a fool of yourself?

Do you really think any of your claims would make me respect your S/H/I/T university.

Run and don't be boasting about any intellect you don't have when I am around. You can do that in Georgetown.
HAHAAH Bristol University does it again. S/H/I/T man your life kind of sucks. You are daft + could not attend a top university in a mediocre country. Man do you need a rope?
PoliticsRe: Uganda Gay Rights Activist David Kato Killed by SEFAGO(m): 1:25am On Jan 30, 2011
@SEFAGO, it's a coworker/friend who's having a lil get together with his other coworkers and friends, He had a triple not double but triple good news. He was promoted, he had a huge bonus and 10 year service recognition, and the other is a personal thing.
Nice I kind of miss DC, its the best city in the world. I havent had time to visit for a while. So many bars and beautiful black women. So intellectual. The Dupont area is kind of ok.  The problem is that I am so handsome that random guys keep buying me drinks .  . . I could not say that without laughing  grin Sefago looks at his worwor face and smiles

Bristol students are better than Georgetown students.
yeah and unilag is better than Columbia . . . not

And for the record, I went to "Oxford" College at the University of C . . . . . . . .
Hmm, really OK. I believe you  wink But you and I know where you went sha. The girls in bristol are cute too but too many white girls ooh.

Explain how "informed consent", formed from the critical thinking you said they taught you at the second tier university, justifies banning polygamy but not homosexuality.
I have the right to choose to ignore you. I would advise you to ignore me. However, if you want to talk about the babes at bristol, i would be willing to chat. I would not mind travelling to london and hitting the pubs with you at bristol though. You can even introduce me to some babes. I doubt you know any babes, you are typing on a laptop on saturday night. How lame. No wonder you like calling everyone m/o/r/o/n

How are u feeling gangster? Bristol is an Ivy league baby. You are way smarter than sefago gangster. you are on top of the world

I told you that he would be back. Mr Bristol University 34th in the guardian would definitely be back

HEHE

But sagamite really I do not want to debate with you. I dont give two hoots about your existence. I have reached the point where your opinion is kind of insignificant. SHOUT, CRY, WHATEVER, YOU ARE AN IRRELEVANT WORTHLESS PIECE OF S/H/IT

Why is it so hard for you to understand- I am sure you got taught that at Bristol. I want to debate with civil people not Bristol graduates  grin grin grin

S/H/I/T anytime I remember your university I just keep laughing at all your crap.

Did you get rejected by Unilag? At least at Unilag the best students are better than the comedians produced at Bristol. Or James Blunt  grin grin grin

OH MY SEFAGO DON FALL DOWN FOR HIM CHAIR AGAIN

Mr You are a m/or/on, You are nit/wit, Rubbish

Should he have? He studied Finches not man. Sometimes the questions you ask are just plain daft. Next Tensor down, Bluetooth out, OAMJ4 in the workings
PoliticsRe: Uganda Gay Rights Activist David Kato Killed by SEFAGO(m): 12:45am On Jan 30, 2011
was charles darwin gay ?
Nah but he was smart, smarter than you. Have you read his book? The origin of species? It would blow your mind out. The way the guy logically presented his argument for evolution. Man you have to admire intelligence when you see it.

The book was quite verbose though

Philosophy ko, sociology ni. Answer the questions jor.
Oh boy. Ok, you used the word "freely." You have qualified freedom in the context of choice. The woman's ability to choose between a yes and no assuming she has freewill. But do women in patriachial society have freewill? Tensor has consistently claimed that I have been affected by the media (I dont watch TV neither do I own a TV or even bother reading newspapers). However, he is correct in the fact that media manipulates our freewill. So what about a woman born in a society that is strongly patriarchal? Can you argue that she makes informed consent to engage in polygamy? If she has grown up hearing and seeing that polygamy is good, do you think she can make a free choice?

It follows on questions of autonomy-Is a polygamous woman born in a society that encourages polygamy making a truly autonomous decision? Would she if she was not influenced by societal pressures be making that choice in another context? These questions have to come into play when deciding if polygamy is itself good for women.

You have not shown a clear example of choice. What you have shown me is a woman no different than a man born in the glorious days of rome. Such an individual, those boy-lovers in rome would agree that there is nothing wrong with homo-sex/uality or pedophilia based on social conditioning.

This begs the question- can we examine ethics outside the context of social conditioning itself. Or should we attempt build a framework to determine our morals based on a non-subjective perception if that is at all possible.

I believe ethics and morality should be totally objective. It should be embracing but also critical. I do not believe though that my own opinons supersede that of others.
PoliticsRe: Uganda Gay Rights Activist David Kato Killed by SEFAGO(m): 12:26am On Jan 30, 2011
How exactly do you know this? Think about a woman's natural reproductive cycle and how this is shortened by the need for them to stay on in education training and employment before childbirth but well after puberty. You will see that with the education of the girl child in countries like India China and Nigeria the population would start to level off. So quit this bizarre fixation on media scare stories.
Anyway this topic is too deep and complex to be pursued on this thread so perhaps you can open a new thread for that of it worries you so much.

So God made a mistake by creating Adam and eve ?
you have jumped a few steps. who told you god exists?
PoliticsRe: Uganda Gay Rights Activist David Kato Killed by SEFAGO(m): 12:15am On Jan 30, 2011
nature will always set an equilibrum between the population and available resources.homosexuality cannot be justified by any means.
I differ. Nature is staggering right now. Mother nature if she could be personified would be weeping and cursing humans. We have become a disease to the planet. An equilibrium is reached in ecological terms yes, however when push comes to shove nature collapses.

There is a limit to nature, we have to come to terms with that fact quickly.

I personally am really worried about how we view our resources and how we are incapable of understanding that we have maxed the possible limit. Bros no equilibrium anymore its going to be a thunderstorm if things keep going on.
PoliticsRe: Uganda Gay Rights Activist David Kato Killed by SEFAGO(m): 12:02am On Jan 30, 2011
You guys don't know fuc-k all about what is happening to the world population control,it is out of control, the world population is overrunning out of the world resources and anything that will stop it form mutilating is high welcomed, being gay is part of it.
I personally hold this view myself. Woe to the earth when the first man reached the pinnacle of consciousness. We have caused so much harm its sickening. I am kind of a misanthrope. I find human behavior just in general disgusting. Spreading like a disease over the world destroying ecosystem after ecosystem. In our arrogance we place our survival on a pedestal arguing that our continuity is of the utmost importance. Our gift of reasoning in superior to that of all animals.

Sometimes, when i just seem one human being and how selfish we all are I just feel disgusted. Always about ME, ME, ME, ME.
PoliticsRe: Uganda Gay Rights Activist David Kato Killed by SEFAGO(m): 11:50pm On Jan 29, 2011
I attended "Oxford" College in University of C . . . . .
Hmm, na u sabi. grin grin grin

So will you stop calling people on nairaland m/o/r/o/n/s? All of us are sick of you

OAM4J:
Which Yoruba accent is that? Standard Yoruba is 'Opuro oshi' or 'Olopuro oshi'
I dont speak Yoruba fluently, I so hate the fact I cannot do that angry

Anyways lets go back to the debate joor, there is no new anime for me to watch sef. I was going to watch "bristol is the best school in the world and trumps harvard and yale hosted by sagamite"

Ok, could you bring your quote again about polygamy. I like you a bit so I would debate with you since you are very civil even though I havent been. I dont want to debate with a bristol graduate who goes around on nairaland calling everyone a m/o/ron.

However you must be able to flow with me? Have you ever taken philosophy? Do you know anything about autonomy and choice? If you dont it might be difficult to debate and I might get a bit rude.
PoliticsRe: Uganda Gay Rights Activist David Kato Killed by SEFAGO(m): 11:28pm On Jan 29, 2011
Sagamite don run away to make sure sefago has not stolen his bristol pali.

Man all the olodo omo olowo in my school who cannot even enter unilag and went to bristol would start claiming superiority soon.

Alapuro oshi. Abeg tell me what college you went to in Cambridge jare? Let me share some memories with you

Sagamite:
You are a dunce!!! grin grin grin grin grin grin

Don't kill me with laughter.

According to your "high IQ" and "thinking outside the box", LWKMD, what makes you think University of L . . . . . . . . . . . cannot mean:

University of Lampeter  grin
University of Leeds  grin
University of Leicester grin
University of Lancaster  grin
University of Liverpool  grin
University of Loughborough grin
University of Lincoln  grin
University of Lagos  grin
University of LSE  grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

And University of C . . . . ,  . . . . cannot mean:

University of Cumbria  grin
University of Central Lancashire  grin
University of Chester  grin
University of Chichester  grin
University of Cardiff  grin
University of Coventry  grin
University of Calabar grin
University of City London  grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin
You are just trying to hide under a cloak. Like you are trying to dabaru. The problem is that you think I am guessing thats the issue. Or maybe you dont want people to know? I still dont understand whats your point.

Anyways lets go back to the debate, we can all be friends. You went to one of the best universities in the world and you are smarter than I am.
