There is morality and society promulgates laws against moral outrages in order to protect public morality. Nothing to do with individual rights just the well-being of society as a whole.
There are many laws in the West that serve to protect public morality such as the laws against nudity, the laws against pornographic smut and the laws against prostitution.

What you utterly miss here is that you have been unable to tell us what moral laws apply to homosexuality. Yes most europeans love Achebe but they love his books because the protagonist Okonkwo truly coincides with their views of the nobel and savage african. i think you should come to terms with the fact itself that really society is just a construction of power space. We never really have any choice do we? Its impossible for us to truly choose what type of society we as individuals want to live with since this is a group activity, and its also impossible for us to cut ourselves from society.
