It doesn't work like that , you see if I , in Nigeria , earn an equivalent of 1000 dollars and I'm able to afford a lot more than you who earns 1500 dollars in the US then obviously I'm richer than you. Buying power and ability to earn dictates who is richer and not necessarily extapolating earnings across different economies.

This is to prevent the couples from doing it multiple times.
