PropertiesRe: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by semitunde:
Wow. Was wondering which thread this was until I realised it was the "discuss anything construction" thread. Can't believe such an informative thread has degenerated and derailed this much.

I don't blame the derailers, I've lost money to land sellers too and it was a really painful experience. The blame goes to the person that is the cause of the whole issue.

Prevention is always better than cure, but as brabus did not prevent the pains he has caused to people here, it was his responsibility to cure it. From the looks of things, he hasn't. For such an admittedly talented person (he sure thinks outside the box, which I like); his talents hasn't been applied to interpersonal skills and dispute resolution. Maybe he's eye is on the bottom line.

Don't blame Alhaji muff either. What best can you do on a thread you don't have any power over, and being faced with allegations against the same person from different victims? It can sometimes be tireing. How many times can he blame the person that would be enough? The cases are simply too many to keep track.

I don't think it should be a big deal for seun to restore hajjM's mod duties. I don't even think he would want compensation for it even if he deserves it. Sanity need to be restored in this section and urgently.

I don't blame other contractors here. If you're on brabus's side you're putting your business in jeopardy. If you're against him, you may now or later be seen as a hater, waiting to pull down a competitor. Most have either been silent or like segzy, have woven a fine line of diplomacy. Its the right thing to do considering the circumstances.

Lastpage and agarawu, beyond the "roforofo" with others here, only have differing opinions on how to deal with brabus. I think in the long run everyone of those arguing believe he should face some form of sanction/ comeuppance. Opinion only differ on the methods used. Its unfortunate how friends quickly became foes over issues that were caused by someone else .

Like Justin bieber sang "Is it too late to say sorry?" I guess only the victims have the right to answer that question.

stchinedu:
You have a point but it is biased. I think you are not being sincere by not chiding the op. People are only telling him what he has been doing and the insults he hurls on other tribe. On this, he started what you see happening on this thread now.

I am not happy with the happenings either. However, we should mind what we post and how we go about it. What the OP brought on this thread is what we all need to fight against and we can't make any headway like this.

Change or no Change, BRIBERY has been a stubborn cancer in Nigeria from time immemorial. A cancer that has eaten deep into the system...not only in the government but the society as a whole. We can't stop it if we keep making it a child's play.
Let me quickly say this cos I won't have the chance to be online for some hours:

The op isn't even one of those at the forefront of political or tribal debates, he just comes in with his comments which he's entitled to just like you. There are many who would agree with him just as those who would not; sometimes it shows in the likes clicked. My point is, he's just a Nairanlader, and in important cases should be seen as such.

A lot of the posters on his thread relished trolling him on an important issue that is personal to him. They abused and taunted him on a case where everyone is a victim, without offering any viable solution. This is only acceptable on a political or tribal debate where such vicious trolling may be seen as fair game. They turned a personal issue political and tribal.

The consequence is this; a Yoruba/ Igbo or any other tribe that needs any form or help is now open to savage trolling regardless of the importance or urgency of the situation; and regardless of whether that person is a tribal warlord or a non -tribalist.

No matter what good points you may have against the op's actions, a precedence has been put in motion . You dont want to contemplate the extent of the repercussions.
Car TalkRe: Help! V.I.S Officials Just Meted An Injustice On Me (pics) by semitunde:
An unfortunate precedence is slowly starting on this thread.

People who are against the op calling him anti-igbo or buhari bodyguard should take serious heed of the repercussion their actions will lead to. If people start checking tribes and political divide for everything on Nairaland, just know it started here.

@op. Someone has given some nos. to call. You can also search for prominent twitter activists and mention them while tweeting to VIO and Lagos State govt. You should get a response and you can take it from there.
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Germany : Rio2016 Olympics : Your Thoughts On The Match? by semitunde: 10:06pm On Aug 17, 2016
Rushed home to meet the first 10min, knew then and there that we'd lose the match. I thought there was a thread that said etebo would play?

Little tactical play, but that was OK; it was the woeful passing ( especially the final pass), the terrible ball control, the seeming lack of intelligence sometimes by some players ( like attack gnabri who early was on a yellow and attack the keeper more).

Umar shooting when he had Mikel for a tap in after intercepting the keeper...Anwuzie(?) Kicking every cross, shot and free kick into the night sky...just depressing to watch.

Siasia has his blames, playing etebo in a non crucial match instead of that short player that came in later, the one that can't make a tackle to save his life; is a low for him. That apart from the seeming lack of ideas he has shown again and again when on the back foot. He was the "nearly man", this is even worse than nearly.

PoliticsRe: It's Been 15 Months, Stop Blaming GEJ #COPIED by semitunde: 5:44am On Aug 13, 2016
Abeg enough with the GEJ syrup. He will continue to be blamed for our present predicament simply because its his fault (amongst other past presidents and politicians)!

Now if you glorify him so much, bring him back to contest and get other Nigerians to back you up with it, see if they agree with you enough. But beyond this, quietly take the blame till the next election year when this administration will be assessed and adjudged!

Exactly. If they think the country doesn't care for them, and they don't care for the country enough to at least do it for free and get recognition from it; they should have simply protested before going, knowing that buhari may cancel the trip altogether.

Considering the volume of human traffic expected in the bridge this is a substandard project!

I propose that Ambode's convoy should do the test run first before they open it for innocent users.

Very poor for a state that makes more than 60billion monthly.
Care to explain the bolded?

There is no wisdom in saving thousands of houses thereby resulting in the project cost running into hundreds of billions!!
As a Civil Engineer, I understand that when you alter the alignment of the highway leading to the bridge, you automatically increase of decrease the cost of construction. In this case, I could advise the state government to reduce the length of this bridge! There are certain points of closest proximity whereby the 4th Mainland bridge could be the shortest. It is called line of best fit.

I just want to be sure contractor or financier is short-changing the government. My M.Sc project was on the Extension of the Structural Lifespan of the 3rd Mainland bridge. I discovered several troubling issues that both my professors or the professionals representing the FG on the project did not know. Truth is that the 4th Mainland doesn't have any business being that long or that costly. I am entitled to my views. No govt person should call my number!

God help Nigeria.
Most, if not all of your fears would have been taken into consideration before coming up with the present scope.

AgricultureRe: Anambra Stone Free Rice Ready For Export by semitunde: 11:53am On Aug 06, 2016
I wish they can sell the same rice to Nigerians instead of claiming they are for export. Is it any better than the rice from the other countries that have been exporting for years? Why try to compete in an already choked international market when you have one right in front of you waiting for same goods?

Lord knows I should have bought our rice in July when a bag was 13k5. I was shocked when my usual seller told me it was 18k -17k last. When I asked him about all the 7k rice and those from anambra he laughed for almost minute and added:
" OGA, you better buy this rice now o, you know sey I tell you make you buy the last time you sey you dey wait make the price fall"

The seller is from anambra!

If You Really Wanna Know The Real Meaning Of "Change" Just Come To Abeokuta.

Abeokuta Is Not Really An Over hyped City Unlike Ibadan.

You Can Barely See Things Concerning Abeokuta On NL

But, Abeokuta Is Way More Better Than Ibadan, The City Has Changed Over The Years Since The Current Governor Assumption Of Office.

Abeokuta Is Just Nothing But A Huge Construction Site Right Now

The Last Time I Paid A Visit To Abeokuta, I Was Wowed All Through My Journey, I Didn't Even Know When I Poked My Head Outta The Car-Window, You Can Barely Drive Past A Place Without Seeing A Construction. It's Indeed An Haven Of Investment

In The Next 3years Abeokuta Is Gonna Be The Place Of Our Dream.

Even Ogun State That's Among The Poorest States Years Back In Nigeria, Is Now Among The Top 4 Richest State In Nigeria.

So Lets Stop The Hype On Ibadan, Ajimobi Is Doing Nothing But Playing Ludo
Ibadan development has never been about just the govt of the day. Just like any thriving city, it has substantial private input; no need to direct your angst against Ajimobi over this.

Also, Ibadan isn't in comparism with any southwestern city or state, in fact it's not in camparism with any state; ( "Oyo compares with no one"wink). If we compare notes on development in the southwest, it's not out of competition but in a view to see areas where each state can take advantage of, while relating with other states.

Many of the reinforcement sold in anambra are substandard. Had to bring in our reinforcements from Lagos when I worked there.

Quick check, if you bend a reinforcement full 360 or at least 180 degrees and it snaps, that means its brittle and will not perform its work when loaded.

sharrap if u got nothing reasonable to say?
so when someone is ill, is now a wrong thing to tell them sorry?

anyone who has spent 2hrs in this family section knows cococandy & her likes, because of her selfish, bias & insensitive comments. i pressume those quoting her & her likes saw this topic on home page.

@bold, what are u trying to say?
if u are tagging a working class man economic victim, what abt a student?
Well I've said something reasonable even if I say so myself, so I guess that takes care of the "sharap" part.

You dont need to bring in the personality of cococandy or infact anyone else save for their thought as put down on this thread. The issue brought up is what should be faced. Again that knocks off your second point.

You are asking what I meant by economic abuse? You should have just asked nicely. What I meant was that as a married man, op didn't tell us if his bro has any child, what kind of job he does, if its enough in this present economic situation. We don't know if they are just married and just settling in and now have two siblings lumped on them - and they are not complaining, just adjusting.

Has anyone asked how they are coping financially? How from the ops post can you infer that his bro is rich enough to take care of them? You're not considering his situation. He might be a victim economically given the responsibility he's carrying while still being lampooned here by his sis.

Are you married?
FamilyRe: My Brother Will Make Me Cry To My Dead Parents Against Him by semitunde: 3:11am On Jul 09, 2016
Despite the emotional hues and cries on this thread, cococandy ( and some like her) have made the most realistic sense.

Many are just wailing here ( some referring to their stories as if a lot of ppl viewing don't have worse); point is, op is here for advise, what would be yours? Pet her like a good child crying, form a pity party around her? Lambast the brother and tell her sibling is the real family ( am sure peter square is eyeing somewhere)?

Let's assume the bro is under a trance and the wife is a witch, what should op do? Come to Nairaland and look for who would lambasted the bro with her? To what purpose. I'm not saying she can't be emotional for her state but this isn't the time for tears, its not a nolywood movie; she should get a grip of her situation ( no mater how bad it is) and work her way out.

P.s. The fact that op brought the issue here doesn't mean that the brother, or in fact the wife, isn't the real victim here. I'm talking emotional and psychological victim, economic victim etc.

Too many naive emotional comments.
