Areas with good environment and affordable rents are Widnes, Speke L24, Garston L19, Halewood though they are more I can't remember but if you like the feel of being in naija. Then head to kessington area (quite rugged and dirty). I reside in Speke L24 and it's quite nice with a few black families and less wahala..
Are you still in Speke?

It depends on the type of "bridge" being constructed. Sometimes a simple box culvert is referred to as a bridge over here. Construction of a culvert is as simple as any other reinforced concrete construction complete with the appropriate quality checks.

Stop being silly mate. That you're typing in caps doesn't mean your making sense. Explain how a festival of art and culture made Nigeria from your so-called spiritual realm.

The truth is what you heard about festac was regurgitated to you years ago when you were young and you still hold on to it .... Grow up
And this here is the truth! Many young ones were told this same lie. The truth is that Nigeria was destroyed (read looted dry) by the same leaders that sold the propaganda that the celebration was the problem. It's called passing the buck, shifting responsibility and blame. The Whites(who were still trying to adjust to the liberation of Blacks from slavery) saw this as Black empowerment. It wasn't surprising to see that our leaders (who had little independent thoughts, unfortunately, and often deferred to the colonialist who they see as more intelligent) were used to carry out long-term plans to make sure this country never got to the position of being the leader of Blacks. Saying the fault was the "idols" was just perfect since it kills the desire of blacks for their culture (which festac was all about), and also puts the blame on our leaders making sure the citizens fight the leaders for this instead of looking at the real economic reasons for the downturn of things over that period.

Festac is still the best planned estate in the country to date. Many of the infrastructure were messed up by the military and their lackeys though.
1. Underground sewage and flood water drainage system with mechanical sewage system plants stationed and working to put clean water into the manmade canal and green areas surrounding the town.

2. Underground electrical supply system. With equipments to spot and pinpoint where a cable underground might be faulty. The transformers stations were so ahead of their time that it had emergency backup light to work in the stations when there was no light ( which was rare at the time). The transformers were housed and had several gadgets to make sure fault from any close or block can be located, isolated, and worked upon with minimal fuss.

3. There were traffic lights everywhere. And they were so we'll programmed that there were hardly and strain waiting on a red light. It taught me from that childhood to always wait on a red light because my dad would always wait.

4. There were so many interconnecting roads that it was not possible to have a hold up in festac at that time. There were always options.

5. There were phone booths everywhere, and they worked. You had coins? You can call anywhere in the world if you have the phone number.

6. Phones in every block of flats for emergency. This was actually phenomenal. And yes, they worked. Not that we as children at that time knew what it was for. We probably damaged it while playing with it. lipsrsealed

7. There were play areas everywhere. These had things like swings, seesaws, slides and other children play things. You can't walk for 15minutes and not find a play area to rest or play at. This was one of the first things subsequent military juntas focused on and destroyed. They sold or built on almost all the play areas to the extent that residents started physically resisting without success people that bought lands. There were areas earmarked for further development, but those in government wanted the already developed part of the town and decided to mess up infrastructure as a means to that end. They built over several underground electrical and drainage nexus ( which were located in the play areas for easy servicing) that festac started having drainge and electrics issues that could only be solved if they removed the huge mansions built on top of those places. Of course the owners with connections in government resisted. In the end, festac had to abandon the still working underground system, cut the trees lining most of the roads, so as to install overhead election lines and transformes. The original festac transformers were mostly stolen piece by piece by NEPA workers. Equipments for maintenance were stolen too.

8. It's the only estate that actually brought together and intermingled homes of different and diverse financial levels. It made any resident of festac, whether poor or rich, very confident in outlook to life. They've seen the best. You couldn't oppress them with even pictures of other places. There were always similar or better places to point to in festac.

9. Those luxury buses mentioned in the thread were true. I remember my mom would take me walking to 5th avenue to take a bus. That was their last busstop then. It was still called last busstop for a long time after the buses stoped coming. But a change of route by danfos meant 5th avenue became less popular as they preferred going through 23 road.

10. Most festac resident then were used to walking around. No bikes. Keke marwa didn't exist. But most importantly, there were trees lining both sides of every road such that you hardly feel the sun and would walk long distances to visit friends without feeling the strain. Festac is very big. But as children, we would take long walks to far places without thinking twice about it.

11. The canal was a good fishing spot for both adults and children. Since the water going into it was both from storm runoff and treated sewage, many people took it as just a normal river encircling festac and going all the way to Apapa.

12. The only town were you could actually find people from ALL parts of the country staying together. The education from this, you can't get in in any book. You'll hardly find any festac person, especially of my generation holding in to tribal beliefs or tribalism because you just have too many of friends and neighbors from other tribes!

Talking in detail about how things were messed up along the way is a long discourse in it's own that showed and shows Nigeria's selfishness, shallowness, nepotism, greed, and all other bad traits especially in people who should be leaders.

And the buyer is happy too. Those are all that matters. Not some unwritten rule or what some people feels.
That's not just the essence of this thread though. It's not just about both the seller and buyer being happy with the sale. Clearance sales is also about making people happy by helping them out financially (probably) through their low sale of properties they have little need for at that time. I get that it's a little different now as people go for clearance sale because they need the money urgently and their property is a means to that urgent fund. It may be slightly different from others that just want to clear it out (at cheap rates) because they don't need it anymore. But understand that that second category of people still remain whose priority is not the financial gain. For such people, it will be saddening to see their product displayed again for profit which makes nonsense of their initial motive. Don't encourage a change of character that suggests they should be more business-like and cash-out. If everyone is like that, you probably won't make it far in life. No one will. It's actually part of what is killing us as a nation presently, the penchant to cash out on any opportunity with little regard for the impact of such moves.

I like Gazzuz, not going to lie. I'm happy he clarified that he won't be posting items on this thread, especially ones gotten from here. That's fine. The people that bought too, we can't vouch that they'd use it personally and not sell somewhere else, so.

In life, whether business, spirituality, character, or anything, we have to maintain a balance. Do the business but in a way that does not rob the thread of the reason it was created.

Good day, sir. I appreciate your observation

But I don't prices because it will make the post too lengthy

The price of the products vary greatly depending on:

The quality and durability of the fabric the duvet or bedsheet is made of
The size of the duvet or bedsheet and
The design of the material

So when a person contacts me, I can send him/her more pictures to make a pick from and tell him the price of the particular pick

Also, some persons(esp retailers) prefer to buy the fabrics(that has not been sewn and packaged) to resell

The prices are very different. It's not something I can write out in a single post

But I'll consider your advice and look for ways to improve my business presentation.

Shalom...
Post the list once. And when anyone requires it. Send them a link. Or you can open a thread of your updated list of items and their prices and post the link here when anyone requests for it. C'est Fini.

Quiet a sad story! Some people say, may Nigeria never happen to you.

But its the only country we have as our own.

It is well.
To give you a scale of our production at that time. I knew we got vegetable oil in those big drums used for icing drinks in parties today( plastic ones, not metal). Atleast half a drum is used up per day.

Even though we did most of the production inhouse we still needed dozens of people for evacuation everyday for the packed finished product. It was a self sustaining profitable business. Then Buhari/Nigeria happened.

mariahAngel:
Guguru is guguru, popcorn is popcorn.
Same ingredient, different outcome.
Well, this is simply according to your experience. Guguru is popcorn. The fact that it isn't well made doesn't change its name. And I can say this because is grew up producing it commercially as a family business.

A brief personal history:

The type of corn that pops wasn't sourced locally. It was mostly imported. In the 80s, importation was normal as people could choose to buy local or imported stuff . The change in quality (i.e. some corn not popping) came when government tried to ban the importation in the 80s (Buhari era). The local alternatives were not as good in popping as the imported ones. But we never called the local one a different name. Both types were guguru.

We later packed up production when we realized the local variant wasn't yielding enough profits as the imported ones.

It's sad remembering how this country kills businesses. The machine we used in making the popcorn was imported. Automatic. When it gets to the right popping temperature, it automatically moved the pot away from the heater and pours the popped corn out, pass it to the batching and sealing machine, and loads another fresh batch for heating. It did all these with little human help.

Unfortunately, the machine couldn't operate with our local corn that doesn't pop at particular temperatures. Machine was left to rot and spoil. By the time the ban was removed by another government, the machine had gone to waste. End of that business.

Guguru are like popcorn, but they don't fully pop, making them a bit harder to chew (more like toasted corn).
They're best eaten with groundnuts.
Guguru is popcorn in Yoruba. Anything else is associated with the name is just added personal opinion.

I'm surprised to login in to see all these banter up and down. I am the person that bought the jug. Actually I own a ninja blender which I bought recently and I love the product. So when I saw this heat resistant jug with the same brand name, I was intrigued.. I chatted her up and surprisingly she lives closer to me and I went there this morning to buy one for myself. When I got home, I tested it and it worked perfectly just like she advertised and that's why I ordered for 10 pcs to be used for souvenir..
Pls let's not be quick to doubt sellers, there are still some honest people here.
Attached is a picture of the one I bought..
You may not be wrong, but Mr @gloriousgbola is also not wrong. The specification could have been a bit hazy, but it essentially means that the jug can resist heat. By my understanding, it means a very hot liquid can be put in it without it breaking.

It may not however be used directly over fire. I don't think it has the specification of, say, a burette, for it to be placed directly over fire. Even if there are pictures of such, it is just to show you that it's heat resistant since that can't be shown with a liquid inside the jug.

My advise is don't use it over fire. If you go by the advertised picture, you may have misunderstood the capability of the jug and hence may misuse it.

For thinkpads it's straight forward. Install lenovo vantage from Microsoft store. Once set up there will be a battery on your task bar. If you go through the software you will find a tab that tells you the wear and tear on the battery. Ie the battery's design capacity may be 76wh,but the current max capacity is 50wh.

i use a thinkpad p71. last year my battery suddenly went bad without warning. this battery is maybe 12 months now. you can see it has lost 10% of its capacity as its design capacity is 96WH and it is now at 85WH

For non thinkpads there is an app called battery bar. You can also get full details of your battery from it
just google batterybar. i dont want to put link because of sp1mbot

there is no need for the pro version. free version works fine. you can also find the exact information of just how much max charge you battery is still holding

FamilyRe: Husband Built Home In Nigeria Without Telling Me. Should I Divorce by semitunde:
lefemmechoclat:
I am a bit scared but yes for my dignity I have to. No one in my family is divorced it's embarrassing but nothing can hurt me more than what I have experienced and I'm not open to allowing anything to occur anymore.
If you're scared, Give it some time. Think clearly about it. I'll advise you even tell your parents about it, but not from the angle of anger but from a balanced perspective. Hear them out. If you're not satisfied with their response, seek another elderly person or couple. You can get that in the church. I'll tell you why.

You see that fear you feel, even if a tiny bit, it's called fear of regret. It can turn out the most crushing thing anyone can experience because in most cases, you can't then do anything about it unless you can pull back the hands of time. You don't know how the future will turn out, you're only looking to be the best you can and position yourself well for it. But mistakes can be made. It could be your children hearing about this and having a different opinion about the decision you took. Yes, it's possible. And it's why we are humans, imperfect.

So can you take out regret? It's by going through all your options. You seem to me like a melancholic. I am too (now to an extent). The way our brain works is to unconsciously look at all the options that were available whenever anything goes wrong. This can happen after your divorce decision. Now, this is not a movie that has an ending. It's going to be the rest of your life. If there are options/decisions you may have taken to lead to a better outcome, your brain will highlight this, and thoughts like this can lead to regrets and/or depression. This shows up in many people who are in similar situations reacting differently to social issues. Some lash out, some are hateful, some just don't care anymore. The root cause might just be the powerlessness to take back time and live in regret. Explore all your options is how to avoid this. So that if you do go ahead with divorce (or not), when things don't go well and your bain tried to dig back, you can counter that you tried that and it didn't work. It reduces the pain of regret or even removes it.

Pls, note. I am not advising you to leave your husband. I am also not telling you to stay. I am saying satisfy that little fear by exploring all options so that the fear won't turn out to be the variant of regret. Do the things you're in control of. Leave the rest to fate or God.

Finally, I'm a little uncomfortable with the way the word cheating/cheats has been used to replace the word lying/lies. It makes simple situations more complex.

I don't produce something that will be returned.

Do you know why, I ensure I deliver absolute best. Unlike our guy in question, I go out of my way to explain to my clients what they're getting and how I intend to deliver it.

As a seller, I also have rights too. You folks should drop some mindset while doing business online. Not everyone wants to cheat you. Trust me,if this woman bought this at the open market. There's no returning no matter what she does. We all should be happy for social media and internet purchases. Sellers now have more than enough to loose with one pissed off customer
I agree with most parts of your response and acknowledge the tact you've applied. But let me give an instance here since my line of work involves gates too. This hasn't happened to me, (there are processes to avoid it), but I've seen it happen in a government estate

I want to install a gate and I came to you. As an experienced seller:
1. Will you just sell the gate to me without asking if I already have a measurement for the gate I want?
2. If you do not ask, and it happens that you're the supplier, and you didn't make sure the size of your gate fits the allowed/existing space for it, what will happen?
3. If you were shown a drawing of the site where the gate will be and you produced with that, but you didn't realize the dimensions were mid-point to mid-point. You thought that was the space for the gate, and you produced a gate that was wider than the position where the columns should be, what will you do?

Pls, answer the three independently. And this isn't trying to put you down or mess your biz up. Mistakes can be made. But I just want to see how you will handle these situations.

That quote is useless if you don't provide or deliver what was agreed between you and the customer. You seriously need to sit this one out as you really don't know much about business risks and responsibilities. That you produce something doesn't mean you know much about business. And the way you've been going on proves that you may find yourself in hot water sooner than you expect if you carry on like this.

That's why genuine and respectable sellers have some sort of return policy or at least a way to assuage the customer if need be.

Well she's not the one, you might want to do your proper findings first before your "pls, correct me if I'm wrong" line.

You all are just quick to ASSUME the moment someone else have a different opinion.

Let me make you understand something going forward, whenever people have a different line of thought against yours it's because they don't agree with you (they might be seeing something you are not seeing) and it doesn't mean they are entirely wrong, they just don't feel same way as you. Let's stop attacking each other basically because we want to prove a point. Peace
You're doing exactly what you're stating above too.
Let me make you understand something, my friend. When there's a dispute or wrong done to someone, the best method to resolve the dispute or wrong is to first identify it. Second is to let the perpetrator know, and then make moves to resolve the issue.

Sometimes the perpetrator may not know he's the one who's wrong. Letting him know is the way to go. The case wasn't difficult to understand at all. The victim isn't calm, agreed. But she isn't wrong. We like to conflate attitude and character with dispute resolution. While this has it's place, it's necessary to first resolve without emotions, then face whoever is deemed to have a wrong attitude or wrong approach to the dispute. And this goes for both sides.

If this is a court case, the victim may even be sent out of court if she actually behaves like she's posting here, but given the evidence we've been seeing here, she should still win the case and get paid.

I understand why some of you may side with seller: he's not a young person, he has good rep with those he has sold to. Okay. But this should have shown in how swiftly he dealt with the issue before it escalated. He unconsciously aided the escalation. His positions on the issue also kept changing. This is an online platform. The highest currency anyone can have is trust and being seen to be straightforward. Age does not confer this in anyone.

@juliearth. I apologize if you're not the person. And even if you were, I wanted to point out that the seller admitted that she used the wrong appellation for the shoes and (if I remember correctly) made restitution.

@yemmy, you see how easy the above was? It doesn't take anything away from me. I can do it again and again. But one needs to have a good dose of self-worth and a good balance of humility and maturity to do it, simple as it is.

Any business can go sideways, no matter one's best efforts. But how the situation is handled goes to show how successful that person is going to be.

Exactly what is happening here. You are wise. His onlinenemies jumped at this dispute to drag him.
Madam (or Mr). I don't know anyone here but my philosophy is you do your best to solve people's problems, whether you're in business producing or in the service delivery sort. Let's be clear, the fault is from FutureFocus. He didn't deliver what his customer asked for. Many people go through things like this in real life where what they get is different from what they ask for or that they believed they got. It can be termed a misunderstanding and resolved quickly to the advantage of the customer if the seller puts a high premium on such a business. But we've had cases where customers were conned into paying more for a product because the seller (sometimes consciously) supplies what the customer didn't want or ask for.

Pls, correct me if I'm wrong here. I may have mixed up the names here. Are you not the person that supplies shoe products, but was called out for selling products not genuine after claiming they were? I just want to be sure.
