How does "corruption" in our team address the point of using Nigeria as Plan B? not like we don't have tens of players wishing to play for us. playing for us has nothing to do with "corruption sir"
A corruption free and transparent organization is always more attractive, at least to honest people.

I gave an example with Rohr. Rohr has been transparent thus far, diligently going about his duties, even farther than his job description.

Tell me which system you'd prefer. One with proper organization, where everything is done according to the book or one with underhandedness and corruption with chaotic organization? Say you are a foreign born and you are required to choose, which would it be?

I agree with you, that barca are outright favorites. My pouint exactly is that anything is possible in the UCL knock out stages. It is true that players play football and not history. But any establishment cannot move forward without learning from history. 2012 that Chelsea knocked us out, would you say barca didn't have character or Guardiola wasn't tactical enough? As a matter of fact, barca played a 3-4-4 at camp nou in that second leg... Chelsea had a red card, and practically had no tactics except to defend.

My point is this... we know that consistency, team cohesion, form, squad depth will win games. But when it comes to knockout, anything can happen! Football generally can be unpredictable at times...tactics have been known to fail times without number.

Are you now expressly saying that there is zero probability that Chelsea will knock out barca?
You have a point, anything can happen in football, but my money is on barca to progress, and it'd be my pick ten times over.

Yea I got your point and am not basing my comments so far on patriotism.

It would be stupid to compare Nigeria and Germany when it comes to attractiveness but my point is this do we need to be attractive like Germany and the likes to attract our FBs.
Few foreign borns might genuinely pick us ahead of Germany even with a less fancy team. It just means we should respect those players, it doesn't mean we should despise those that didn't, because, if given the chance, many of us will pick Germany without batting an eyelid.

OK let me ask you a question, tell me which national team is more attractive between Brazil and Spain
When you talk of attractiveness, it is Brazil, they have a richer footballing culture but the Gulf in attractiveness between the two is not that big, they are both very attractive and I classify both as class A.

When you talk about Nigeria and Germany, keep patriotism aside and view with a clear mind, you'll see that German national team is way more attractive to players than the super Eagles.

My man Super Eagles has been attractive for so long depends on what you mean by attractive, any FB who is damn serious knows this that Nigeria is solid when it comes to Football.
We are speaking relatively here. Super Eagles has always been attractive, yes! But in relation to countries like Germany, that attractiveness pales. That is the point.

Sir, read some of their interviews, we have articles posted here about them. i didn't "choose" to "believe", i am reacting based on what the article quoted them saying. Did the guy in question get invitation and rejected it?

Ebuehi is one that is close to rejecting that of Holland.
I didn't join the argument in support or otherwise of the invitation of udokhai, I only reacted to a statement you made and seeing that we had treated that issue at a point, when Mujtahida and joebie schooled us, I decided to chip in.

See, as a player, these guys make decisions for career advancement. In deciding which country to play for, it is easy for these guys to choose the glamorous European teams. I said we should clean our house and you misconstrued it.

We can clean our house by eliminating corruption in our teams. Tell me our team isn't more attractive with Rohr? This is a man that would make calls to clubsides to find out why his players are not playing, a coach that looks for club for his players, th at is career advancement, every player would want that kind of coach.

My qualm with your patriotism argument is that you are pinning the patriot tag on people that had it easy, they never had to make the hard choice.
You speak about Ebuehi, I admire the young man but if we're being honest, at this point the super Eagles is more attractive than the Dutch national team. Fact. And he never even got the invite.

We should clean our house and reputation before they decide to play for us? who is the we? meaning the players seeing us as Plan B aren't among the "we"? like they are foreigners or mercenaries?

Balogun, Trooks, Ebuehi didn't see us as plan B, same with others so i am not against FBP, only against the plan B players.
You CHOOSE to believe they did not see us as a plan B, it doesn't make it true. Even balogun said it would have been a difficult choice if Germany had come knocking. It was an easy choice for these guys because they were not in the frame for their foreign teams. It was, practically speaking, play for Nigeria or forget international football.

Please list all the foreign borns playing for Nigeria and tell me which of them received an invitation from their foreign nation and rejected it in favour of nigeria

Any player who sees the SE as plan B should never be given a chance, they won't see reason to die for the national team. you need the heart to play for a national team, not just the skill or whatever. this is my grouse sir.
I thought this issue has been thoroughly trashed on here and squashed as a myth we choose to believe to sooth our frail ego?

You should know that if given an opportunity, most of these foreign borns will choose their class A European countries ahead of us. There is absolutely no shame accepting that.

What we need to do now is clean our image and build up our reputation to be more appealing and make it easier for players to choose us. I think we're on the right path in that regard

Not to spoil the fun o.

While barca is the obvious favorite to beat Chelsea home and away, the team must (as a matter of fact) not underrate Chelsea.

I remember in 2012. Chelsea were having serious managerial issues after AVB was sacked. Di Mateo who was the stand in coach had no UCL experience as compared to Barca's legendary Guardiola. At the bridge, barca played the whole 90 minutes we all know who won the first leg. With Alexis, Fabregas, and Pedro coming really close...only one goal from drogba was enough.

The pressure of knock out was too much for barca in the second leg. Chelsea somehow managed to knock us out. Especially at this knockout stage in UCL, anything is absolutely possible. The only thing that will fvck barca up is if we go into that match with overconfidence, or lethargy.

Truth is, I won't even be surprised if barca gets knocked out. 1 quick fire goal, bus parked will do the job. All this second half ginger barca likes doing won't work if they fail to convert chances from the first minute.

I don talk my own sha
Lord knows I've preached caution against chelsea on this very thread, I highlighted their strong points and said they might worry us but I never for once believed they would knock us out. I still don't.

See, history doesn't play football, players do. Tactics does. Character does. These are values barca have in abundance. Sometime in November, I said we would end the year unbeaten. Someone reminded me that we hadn't played madrid. According to him, no matter how low madrid sink, they would always be a hard nut to crack. Needless to say, madrid collected 3. Last season, we couldn't get a goal in 2 legs against juventus, this season they collected 3 in the first leg.
Bayern beat us 7-0 over two legs, the next time we met them, we beat them 3-0 in the first leg. History is always there to be broken.

With laliga in the bag, copa in the pipeline, we have the opportunity to rotate our squad and present a very fresh squad for that game. Chelsea on the other hand won't be so lucky, they have very tough league games before and after playing us and seeing as they are still struggling for top 4 and do not have enough quality to adequately rotate, there is a high possibility of presenting a fatigued team.

Like someone earlier said, if barca loses that game, it is because they messed up. The game is ours to lose.

Coutinho will be a massive hit for barca. There were times in the game when he held the ball and I mistook him for Messi, same thing happened in the last match.

See the way he switches play? Always looking to find Roberto in the far right, same way Messi always finds alba in the left side. And did you see his shot? He's going to bring goals.

Chelsea against Barca will be tough
Their keeper sabi disturb Barca
Fabregas, Pedro and hazard will want to show themselves against us

Anyways we go still win sha
because we pass em grin
I understand the urge to give them respect but you guys are giving them way too much respect. The chelsea that usually gives barca tough times have been long dismantled. The chelsea team with Peak terry, lamps, Drogba and other men of steel, not this bunch of sissies.

And oh, the chelsea keeper that always gives us tough time is cech and he collected two from Messi last time he met barca.

Listen up Lil homie, you don't wanna go that route with me.

Glucose is no more of a PED than water or the energy drinks athletes take. That you decide to take yours in liquid form and I take mine in tablets doesn't make you a saint and me a cheat.

Maybe you should visit secondary schools inter house games and ban students taking glucose or you can take your anti-doping squad to ban athletes taking energy drinks.

Didn't it occur to you tgat there might be a clause which stipulates that the player can leave if a certain amount of money is offered? players and tgeir agents go through all tgese loopholes before they sign. If we all know that PSG is not a selling club,i doubt Neymar wouldn't know before signing. I'm not saying that he will definitely join madrid, which he'll in the future, all I'm saying is that it is not impossible.

They lost to back to back UCL defending champion. So it's not a disgrace.

We've seen a team which has never played UCL in their history wallop another team 8-0 in EPL.
My post wasn't meant to compare laliga to EPL though.

My point is, this Madrid team had a goal to game ratio of 1.8 prior to today's game, that is to say they score an average of 2goals per game. Deportivo collected 5 above the average, that's poor.

Don't make it sound like this is the Madrid of last season.

I feel like barca fans are unfairly picking on Roberto because he is benching fan's favorite - semedo.

I mean, the first goal was an aerial contest. Roberto isn't tall and lacks that stamina so naturally he's already disadvantaged. The question we should instead ask is what type of cb structure and positioning allowed that aerial contest to fall to Roberto? I mean, that ball was right at the middle of the 18yb, definitely pique territory.
Maybe I'll duck Roberto a few points for allowing Jose Williams the leeway to stroll into that position, otherwise, there's pretty much nothing he could have done.

For the second goal, it was a deflection, no blames.

Roberto had a bad game but hasn't semedo? Off the top of my head I can mention the valencia game.

What y'all should understand is that the full back role is very important to the barca way of play, semedo will get his chance once he learns it. Bar Messi this season, Jordi alba and Roberto are our highest assist providers, both on 6.
