What does EV tell these boys during the break? The 2nd half has been an improvement on the 1st. we are creating more chances, just a matter of time before we score.

Same thing happened in El clasico

Servik do you think we should buy coutinho?
I think the only buys we should make now are those that'd give us competitive edge in the Champions League, Coutinho does not meet that criteria.

The squad we have at the moment is capable of executing the league and CDR, if we move Roberto to midfield, we can easily rest iniesta for the important games, I believe if Roberto plays a full season in midfield he'll be unplayable.

If we must go for a midfielder this winter, it should be fekir.

You are forgetting that Xavi and Iniesta did not become instant hit. It took them years with the first team before they became whov they are today. We are not giving our quality youths enough chances. We want other clubs to develop them for us instead of training them our own way. Many complained when Pep benched Yaya for unknown Busquet, Sergi Roberto was almost sold after 2 seasons of constant insults and claims of "he is not good enough". Samper could have deputized for Busquet and learned but we keep loaning him to relegation battling counter attacking teams. Tell me if almighty Busquet will thrive in such set up. Hallilovic too was a very technical player and should have been allowed to train and develop here. Instead, we fill the team with average buys and have no room for homegrown players again. If not, Roberto should be in midfield and we shouldn't have Arda or Gomes, both are clearly below Roberto in terms of quality but we have to play Roberto outside his best position just to accomodate some average players.
didn't even read this before posting mine. Nice one

How many of our graduates have lived up to their hype? Deulofeu? Tello? Cuenca? Halilovic? Samper? The sooner we realize that xavi, iniesta, messi, puyol, busquets are once in a generation players and we have to keep buying to be able to compete the better for us.
You have to consistently give these youngsters a chance to conclude they did not live up to the hype. Pre-season after preseason we see samper bossing things but he rarely gets the chance in the season proper.

Alena is another great prospect I want us to integrate.

One can even argue that the senseless loans deulofeu was made to go to clubs that do no have any semblance whatsoever with the Barca way of play contributed in hampering his development. The typical kick and run manner he goes about with his game today is typical of the epl. I mean, this guy was once touted to be the next messi.

Nobody is expecting them to be the next iniesta and xavi. I mean, we have Andre F.ucking gomes in our squad, our graduates can't possibly be worse.

Newbie to this Barca thread. First and foremost, wish you all a happy new year.
*On Coutinho, when the saga initially started last season, i was against it not because he is not good, far from it cause he will be among our best 3 midfielders along with Busquet and Iniesta, all worldclass. What i wanted was a controlling midfielder like Verratti then, someone to bench Rakitic for good. But seeing as we have been signing shit midfielders over the years (Turan, Gomes and to some extent Paulinho, yes, he is not worldclass but atleast useful unlike the previous two), i decided i will be alright with Coutinho been worldclass and will help with creativity which has disappeared in our midfield except through Iniesta sometimes. Besides, we can just make Iniesta our controller and Coutinho AM. Latest reports has his cost at 120 + 40m which is excessive but not bad. Time to pay good morning for quality instead of overpaying for average players which are now too much in our squad.
*On Mina, have seen many of his clips and each time ended up disappointed. His only real positives are height, good aerially and passing. He is very slow (slower than Pique) and lets recall we play a highline at the back and we know what speedsters do to Pique regularly. Mina also gets beaten regularly. He may be cheap but still has to adapt and we know how long that can take in a team like ours. It may affect us in the champions league. Why not just recall Marlon from loan? He has been with us for sometime, did well whenever used last season, has good qualities and has been a starter in Nice since he joined. Vermalean become 3rd choice and Marlon 4th. That way, when Vermalean leaves in the summer, we can just go for Ajax's De Ligt.
*Lastly on Arthur; I think 50m is too much for him. Sincerely speaking, i dont see what he does that someone like Samper can't be trained to do. Some players skillsets fits possession teams like ours alone. Guardiola, Xavi, Busquet and Samper are all similar types of footballers. Pep and Xavi were nearly sold if not that Cruyff, Van Gaal and Pep discovered them and stuck to them. Had Pep been our coach when Samper came of age, he would have promoted and developed him by now. Arthur is nothing exceptional. He has no super vision, Fabregaslike passing. Everything he does can be done by Samper. Imagine someone like Busquet been our controlling midfielder? Samper plays like Busquet. Just need some finetuning and directions. We need to start trusting our youths again. Alena should also be given a chance.
It's a big shame what we're doing with our graduates.

Few years from now, messi, Pique, busquet, iniesta and the rest will hang their boots and all we'll be left with will be mercenaries.

If Barca adds Roberto to the Coutinho deal, then we might as well just close down the La masia. Absolutely no reason to keep it open when we keep shipping off our brightest talents.

Signing of cup tied players should be put on hold till summer. This window, we only need to complete the signing of milna and probably get a young striker, I would say timo werner but he's also cup tied.

Bro no need to join issues with chelsea fans, both clubs are worlds apart and so are their fans.

We enjoy the technical and tactical superiority of our players, they enjoy the brute and physicality of theirs.

We enjoy the finesse and and smooth flow of our game, they enjoy the kick and run pattern of theirs.

We love our defensive midfielders with an ether level IQ and out of the world confidence, who can control ball in close quarters and dictate play from deep, they like theirs to run round the pitch, clear the ball when he gets it and hit a thunderous shot from outside the 18 yard box.

We like our goalkeepers to be good with their feet, to be excellent with ball distribution, ease defensive pressure and start attack from the back, they like theirs to kick the ball as far as possible from the 18yard box for fear of opposition attackers.

We like our defenders to keep a highline, pressing high up the pitch and neutralizing pressure even before it gets to our own half, they double up theirs and ask them to sit tight, play the ball out at the slightest pressure.

Do not blame them for not appreciating our players, how can they appreciate footballing juggernauts when they are so used to the bakayokos and drinkwaters of this world?

In the next 100years, chelsea will never play like Barca. Even if they want to, they simply will not have players with such capabilities.
So pardon them when they take shots at our players, it is simply a psychological tactics to shift attention from the pretenders at the bridge.

It's inconsequential to me. I watch and support Barcelona because of the satisfaction they bring me, Trophies are icings on that cake. I cannot support a club based on 'History' else I would have been a big fan of Liverpool or Ac Milan, because they have such rich history.

So I don't understand why anybody would feel the need to troll me when I have gained the utmost satisfaction any club can offer a fan.

of course teams don't set out strategies for ronaldo like they do messi.

they know that besides camping around the box and scoring, he's useless.
Ronaldo had countless opportunities to square a pass to benzema yesterday but he rather do a step over and flunk the ball. Maybe Madrid would have gotten a goal if he were a little less selfish.

I admire his competitiveness. When he comes against messi, he always strives to come out tops. But sometimes, that competitiveness becomes his bane.

Navas, Neuer and Buffon were the top 3 goalkeepers in Europe. Rewatch the Ballon d'Or gala night if you're in doubt.
His club won the Champions League and La LIGA, he was bound to be there, Barcelona didn't make it past the quarter finals. Even Victor Valdes was nominated for fifa Balon d'Or goalkeeper of the year 2013.

No denying Navas was great last season but this season ter stegan is in the form of his life, many are tipping him to be the German first choice at the world cup. Although I see that as a tall dream, it is testament to how much he has improved.

Listen, Navas gets a bad rap but he's a top top quality goalkeeper. he has saved Real Madrid's brushes more than a few times but the fans always pick on him because their mind is fully set on De Gea. That's what happens when management undermines you by consistently talking about another goalkeeper.

Umtiti has definitely improved but to call him the best defender in the league is taking too far. He's still get beaten too easily on a one by one duel for my liking. Personally, I will pick either Sergio Ramos and Varane ahead of him

O pari
One question, if Ramos and varane are better than umtiti and Pique, and navas is better than ter Stegan, then why has Barca conceded just 7 goals and kept 11 clean sheets while Madrid are busy conceding very basic goals?

Navas is so good yet Madrid is tapping up the bilbao goalie.
Top 5 goalies in Europe in no particular order.
Buffon
Neuer
De gea
Oblak
Ter stegan

No way navas is better than ter Stegan.

I would love to engage you on this but I wouldn't like to derail the thread. If you wish to continue, come to the Barca thread.

Let's agree that Barca, as a team, has generally improved both individually and collectively. Like I said on twitter during the game, Ernesto Velverde is gradually winning me over. Having said that, I have a load of issues with your potential combined Barca/Real first team.

So are you telling me that you will start Ter Stegen ahead of Navas? Nah, I don't think so.
And how in the world could you select Jordi Alba ahead of Marcelo? Are you freaking me??!!
And who would Umtiti replace at the CB? Is it Sergio Ramos or Varane? Oh please!
Sergio Busquets? Personally, I would prefer Casemiro but I can give you that ... so let's say arguably
Paulinho?? Oh please, don't make me laugh. Who is he gonna replace Kroos? Modric? Ascencio? Isco?

Bottom line, only Messi and arguably Busquets would make that team.

O pari
On present form, Ter stegan is top 5 in the world.
Umtiti is arguably the best defender in the league
Busquet casemiro is a tough one but I'll go with Busquet. His confidence and composure is unreal.
