winetapper:He didn't suck the lead out of your body. If the lead came from your body, you would have felt it moving as he "sucked" it out. It's a cheap magic trick. He simply hid the lead in his mouth and pulled it out after sucking your body. What we don't know yet is why you felt better instantly. |
winetapper:You would have shown signs of pain when he touched those parts of your body. If it's an act, how come I was healthy almost immediately without taking any drugs? This is the most puzzling part of your story. Is it possible that you were poisoned by his accomplices and he just administered the antidote? |
winetapper:[s]Did you feel the objects moving within your body as he sucked them out?[/s] If not, is it possible that the sucking out of the pins was just an act? |
rawgurl:Religious people think every atheist is crazy, due to their childhood indoctrination. Am an atheist, hubby is also an atheist, will it affect our kids in anyway ?Your kids are very lucky to have rational parents. You'll just have to teach them to pick their battles wisely when dealing with religious people. |
Having sharp objects pulled out from your body must have been really painful. Did you feel any pain when the guy was sucking out the pins? |
Nogodye:what background? |
analice107:I think atheists should come together from time to provide for each other the community and social bonding that religion provides. We can sing, not to a God, but to each other. Prayer is completely useless so we will skip that, and replace the sermons with special guest Q&As. |
Personally, I like it. Don't you? ![]() |

When Tim Minchin, an outspoken comedian, atheist and musician, asked his friend Sam for evidence of the existence of God, he was not prepared for a good answer. To the atheist's shame, Sam told him the story of his mom who was diagnosed with an irreversible eye condition which required surgery. She told her church about it, and after they prayed, she went back to the doctors and they could not find any evidence that she ever had the condition she was diagnosed of earlier. Tim Minchin was really moved by Sam's testimony, so he wrote this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yqGSwE7uNk (Read The Lyrics) |
Gombs:Pastors falling down under the spell of music and a hypnotist shouting "touch!" isn't going to convince any rational person that Jesus is Lord. |
Image123:I don't see how Dan Barker's music qualifies as praise and worship, but I think atheists need music that has a similar emotional impact. i wonder when they'd start communion.I have some ideas for an atheist communion that will totally blow the holy communion out of the water in terms of the body parts consumed. |
Acidosis:I am very glad that you have realised that Pastor Chris and Benny Hinn are men of questionable character. Don't you ever see the likes of Pastor Kumuyi? Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke?Isn't Pastor Kumuyi the guy who forces his followers to wear ugly clothes to their weddings, yet wears a very nice suit when he's preaching? Isn't Reinhard Bonnke the one whose crusades are so poorly organized that attendees are more likely to be trampled to death than "healed"? |
babyfaceafrica:Tell us about those words. |
ijebubabe:the first one. |
Sorry for being insensitive to those without data. |
Nogodye:My favourite musical is Les Miserables, which is a Christian musical. The idea of having someone up there looking out for you is very attractive. It can motivate people to do good things. But it's a fantasy; to be enjoyed but not believed. |
Benny Hinn spoke and ministered a special pastors conference hosted by his African BFF, Chris Oyakhilome. Check out the videos below: 1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eD1fo7JVmWA Benny Hinn's rendering of "then sings my soul", "the anointing of the Lord" gave me goosebumps. 2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSXsIfDYYdo 3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMp8MugRdSM |
The acting president of Nigeria was a pastor of RCCG. This shows that Christians are already very active in politics. What more do you want? |
AfroSamurai:Many nairalanders have testified that they dropped religion to become deists or atheists because of the activities of atheists on Nairaland. Then you don't you open threads condemning the violence, like you do condemning christianity?I don't condemn Christianity. I just try to demonstrate that its claims are not true. I don't want people to believe things that are false, because false beliefs have bad consequences. If you believe you can fly, you might jump off a skyscraper and fall to your death. I wish to prevent that. |
AfroSamurai:Negative? My threads are meant to free people from the heavy burden of religion so they can be happier and more successful. That's positive! So you attack Christianity all the time and ignore Islam, aren't they Siamese twin?I don't think anyone honestly believes that Islam is the true religion. If muslims could defend their faith logically, they wouldn't need violence. |
AfroSamurai:Hate? What hate? What is this person saying? ![]() |
No picture, no husband! |
Flexherbal:That won't happen if people truly believe they are "in the world but not of the world"; that the world will be destroyed when their lord returns. birdman:I'm glad that you saw some merit in Dan Barker's argument. In this video, he tells the story of his deconversion from Christianity. I can point you to peer reviewed papers from astronomers to brain scientists that are literally re-writing scientific knowledge in favor of the bible. Please go ahead and do that, but you should know that Sam Harris is a "brain scientist" himself. The problem Dan Barker raises can be generalized to the popular issue of a good God allowing evil. The problem of evil is a strong point that has never been refuted, but Dan Barker actually tackled a completely different issue in the first video, which is that God deserves no credit for saving us from himself. It's like a person who wants to be praised for not murdering someone. |
jonbellion:You don't like the music? felixomor:Religion doesn't have a monopoly on using music to promote itself. Music can be used by any group of people who have something to say. lepasharon:My children would be allowed and encouraged to question anything that doesn't make sense, including the lyrics of the songs I teach them. |
bennyann:Atheists don't depend on themselves entirely. We depend on our fellow human beings who are real, e.g. family & friends, staff, mentors, etc. Seun wanted God to spoon-feed him throughout but God said no son, now it's time to feed you with bones and seun ran away...Your hypothesis is incorrect, but if it were correct, then God should have known that "feeding me bones" would make me an atheist. The tune is nice and the instrumentation.... I like it. Seun if I find myself humming the song, I'll come for you. What would really make my day is to listen to a recording of little kids singing "beware of dogma, it has a bite ... there's no excuse for ignorance anymore!" and "use your mind, and you will find, that nothing fails like prayer!" When this finally happens, it will be awesome. |
Don't you guys like Dan's music? His songs were well received by the adult audience, but I see them as being much more suitable for kids. balash:Families are a human social construct that came long before religion. Men and women formed stable mating pairs to raise kids, just like birds. donefezy:Atheists don't need to force their children to be atheists. They can just teach their kids to think critically, which makes them immune to religion. Richirich713:If it's ok for religious parents to teach their kids religious songs, I fail to see why atheists should not teach their kids anti-religious songs. It is appropriate for little children to be taught to have a skeptical attitude towards things that cannot be proven or demonstrated to be true. |
Any updates on the smoke that came up from the ground and down from the sky, enveloped the auditorium and healed every sick person? Surely someone on Nairaland knows someone who knows someone who actually saw the blessed healing smoke as it enveloped the hall? |
She should hire a professional debt collector. They have all sorts of tricks such as planting "charms" to scare the debtors into paying up. |
