If you had a son who went to steal from your tenant and your tenant wants to hold it against you and escalate it.. WONT you pay whatever price you can to end the matter once an for all?

In your example, the son 'sinned' against the tenant, which is why the tenant has the right to demand payment. But according to the bible, human beings didn't sin against Satan, they sinned against God. Satan has no right to demand any payment from God for us. He's irrelevant.

Somebody needs to adopt her. That's the only way out. The deluded parents probably won't mind giving her away to get her out of their lives.

I'm confused about why God would need to pay a high price to "buy back" something that he never sold off to anybody. Can you enlighten me?

Can the gods produce dollars? If they produce naira, that will lead to inflation and hurt our economy. It is better for them to produce dollars.

I don't see how sinning against God makes the human race the legal property of some fallen angel, such that God wouldn't be able to simply take us back anytime without having to pay any price for us. If God didn't sell us to Satan, then he didn't need to buy us back from Satan.

Absolute proof is only possible in mathematics and related philosophical fields. For everything else, the best you can do is prove something beyond any reasonable doubt, using the best evidence you can find. Proving that anybody's mom exists beyond any reasonable doubt is trivial.

This doesn't support astrology. Rather, it discredits the bible. It shows that the gospel story was fabricated in the mind of a superstitious person.

It's not about intelligence. It's about rationality, skepticism, intellectual honesty, scientific education, etc. Religious people can have high IQs.

Apologies. Most Muslims are peace-loving, but the number of non-peace-loving Muslims is high enough to make debating Muslims very risky, particularly in muslim-dominated places like northern Nigeria. Was a pastor's wife not killed recently for the 'crime' of preaching? Imagine that.

It's because more people watch big brother naija. If you can create something wholesome and educative that lots and lots of people want to watch, you'll get a lot of money. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire probably falls into that category.

@avaa: Most importantly, never debate muslims. Once they start losing they will find something to be "offended" about and you'll be in danger.

This is the power of childhood indoctrination. Things you were taught as a kid just feel so right and normal somehow. That's how it works.

@LiberaDeus: I agree with you on almost every point. People make a lot of sacrifices for religion and get only empty promises in return. It's a monumental waste of resources, and people need to know that they can do without it. But I don't think I would want to hide my beliefs from someone I am dating, unless I'm not looking for anything serious with that person. If she can't handle it, then it was never going to work.

Nobody needs to abandon Christianity just because he/she want to fornicate or watch porn. Most fornicators and porn watchers in Nigeria are Christians or Muslims, not atheists. All you have to do as a Christian is to ask God for forgiveness after committing the 'sin'. Alternatively, you can focus on the parts of the bible that you like, and ignore the parts of the bible that condemn your lifestyle. Atheism isn't needed for this at all.

Having said that, I think it is actually a good thing to abandon religion so that you can "commit sins" that are not harmful to anybody as often as you like. If your religion says that ice cream is evil, and you know that ice cream is awesome, you have the right to leave because, clearly, a religion that forbids you from drinking delicious ice cream cannot be the true religion. If you're a Jehovah's Witness and you desperately need a blood transfusion to save your life, you have every right to realize right then that a religion that wants to orphan your children cannot be true.
