taurus25:Agreed. Title changed from You Can Believe In Both God And Evolution |
Fx82ZAPLUS:Prophets and pastors don't have any supernatural powers. You may find this difficult to believe, but it's all a bunch of tricks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqPc9btW1rM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-NwKD9laZw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7BQKu0YP8Y https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBpiV72pLAo |
Pidggin:Quoting the bible makes it easier to communicate with people who believe that it's the word of God. Most of the verses I quote are verses I remember from when I was a Christian, but I still read the bible occasionally as an influential and funny collection of fictional literature. |
CodeineSKroches:What's wrong with that? According to Judges, Gideon tested God twice and God didn't mind. According to Malachi, God once asked to be tested. |
UrennaNkoli:This is not a controversy, genealogy, dissension or a quarrel. It's is a prayer point which, if answered, will surely glorify the name of God. Aiholi:That's a strange question. Why would an unbeliever believe that God can answer prayers? You're the believer; use your faith to make it happen! |
tartar9:Every thing in science could be wrong, but this has nothing to do with the word "theory". The scientific meaning of "theory" is different from what you think. The thing about evolution is that scientists have been studying it for 147 years. 147 years!! Many religious scientists have been trying to disprove it in all that time, and they have achieved nothing but woeful failure. Instead of disproving it, we've gotten more and more evidence supporting it. Any theory that remains standing after facing so much hostile scrutiny for so long, must be very close to an absolute fact. Imagine a boxer who has been fighting tough opponents for decades and remains undefeated. Would you doubt that he's the strongest? |
Please stop derailing this thread. Post your videos on a new thread and we will be happy to debunk them again. |
Aiholi:Awesome. I'll go with the Unified Field Theory etched in diamond tablets and dropped in any popular church or mosque. Thank you very much! |
Aiholi: UrennaNkoli:Can you help the unbelievers out by asking God for one of the things above, so that when your prayer is answered, the unbelievers will believe? |
It bothers me when I see religious people making fools of themselves by trying to disprove evolution, because they perceive a conflict between their religious views and the scientific theory. You should know that many Christians and Muslims in developed countries accept evolution as a fact. They believe that God created everything but evolution is the tool that God used to do the work. They see Genesis 1 and 2 as parables that aim to communicate spiritual truths about God's pre-eminence rather than a literal account of how the universe was created. Theistic evolution, theistic evolutionism, or evolutionary creationism are views that regard religious teachings about God as compatible with modern scientific understanding about biological evolution. Supporters of theistic evolution generally harmonize evolutionary thought with belief in God, rejecting the conflict thesis regarding the relationship between religion and science – they hold that religious teachings about creation and scientific theories of evolution need not contradict each other. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theistic_evolution https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOPJXCDsMLI |
If prayer works, you should be able to ask God to do things that only God can do. Things that can't possibly happen by chance, e.g: * To grow a major human body part that is completely nonexistent, such as a missing eyeball or an amputated limb, live on CNN & FOX. * To empower you to pick up one of the huge rocks at Olumo in Abeokuta, and cast it into the sea as Jesus promised in Matthew 17:20. * To grant you the ability to fly like a bird, so you can leap from the top of the Cocoa house, do some aerial stunts, and then land safely. * To bless a bowl of sand soaked in petrol and turn it into garri and sweet milk in your stomach as you eat the sand and drink the fuel. * To etch the details of His Unified Field Theory of Physics on pure diamond tablets and drop them at any popular church or mosque. * To rearrange a few hundred stars to spell the words Jesus Is Lord or Allah so that anyone with a telescope will be able to read it. |
Ranchhoddas:Are you required to pray elaborately five times a day with your head on the floor and your ass in the air while facing a particular direction? Are you required to cover your body from head to toe even on a hot afternoon in the desert? Could you be stoned to death for being raped, or have your hands amputated for petty theft? Are you forbidden from tasting wine or pork or listening to any music that uses instruments? If none of the above is true, then maybe the standards of your religion aren't that high? |
Kalatium:Science has been questioning the theory of evolution since 1859 when Charles Darwin first described it. Questioning is important in science. Recent information derived from 50 years research in DNA shows that DNA cannot mutate to form another organism. Why not present this recent information to us? I wish to learn. Scientists also realised that there is no way life can come from non life(organic soup) and no way cellular organisms develop to complex multicellular organisms. Can you give us the names of the scientists who realized this and link us to the papers they wrote concerning this realization? Almost all what you have been taught about evolution before is now proven falseWhere's the proof? ![]() |

@HolySteph and MissHatey, please check out this "Petting a dog's face or patting her head Do you like to be patted on the head? My guess is no. Having someone reach out and tap us on the head, no matter how lovingly, is not something most of us enjoy. It’s annoying at best and painful at worst. And we really don’t want the hands of strangers reaching toward our face. If someone were to reach their hand toward your face, I’m guessing your reaction would be to pull your head back and lean away, and get a little tense about the invasion of personal space. Yet most humans think that dogs like being patted on the head. The reality is that while many dogs will put up with this if it’s someone they know and trust, most dogs don’t enjoy it. You may notice that even the loving family dog might lean away slightly when you reach for her face to pet her. She’ll let you because you’re the boss, but she doesn't like it. It’s a personal space issue for dogs just as much as it is for us. This is why responsible parents teach their children to gently pet a dog’s back or rear, but don’t pat, and definitely don’t go for the dog's face. If you really want to reward your dog for being awesome, don’t bang on their head, but give them a rub on their rear end right by the tail. They’ll thank you for it!" http://www.mnn.com/family/pets/stories/11-things-humans-do-that-dogs-hate Most dogs dislike being touched on top of the head and on the muzzle, ears, legs, paws and tail. http://www.vetstreet.com/our-pet-experts/how-to-pet-a-dog HolySteph:I think that's how dogs behave when they are about to be subjected to something they find unpleasant, e.g. flea spray in my dog's case. |
Etesam:I certainly want to help but we need to know more about you and your current situation. Could you create a new thread for this? |
iomoge2:By extreme reasons you mean if God appears at my gate in a pillar of fire and refuses to let anyone enter or leave the compound until he speaks to me, right? |
Etesam:Just call yourself an atheist and be done with it. 99% of atheists including all the popular names are "agnostic atheists" so it's largely redundant. |
Ask your spouse to put you in charge of feeding the dog. You'll be best friends within a short time. Dogs don't like being touched on the head btw |
KingEbukasBlog:Rational atheists don't make that assertion. The assertion we make is that there's no evidence for the existence of any God, so we don't believe. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Christian_Nobel_laureatesWhat? You don't seem to understand my point. How many of those people are using their intelligence to try to prove that Christianity is true? My point is that atheists are not necessarily more intelligent than religious people, but being right makes atheists seem more intelligent. |
Beauty giveth jobs, and beauty taketh jobs away. You should start saving as much of your salary as possible, and searching for a new job. Don't be rude to him but don't entertain his creepy flirting at all. Make yourself an exemplary, indispensable employee who has no time for nonsense. |
The only thing I would add to your list is this: "be willing to change your mind if their arguments make sense to you; don't be dogmatic!". honourhim:Atheists appear more intelligent because they are right. Your intelligence is wasted when you use it to defend something that is just not true. |
flamingREED:That's the language of honest people. Since you couldn't understand what to be set free means,What's your interpretation of these words? Surely you don't think that it means Christians don't sin! That is clearly false in real life, isn't it? Are you a Christian? Don't you download pirated movies, music and ebooks? Don't you sometimes lie to your boss, friends, parents, or lover? |
davide470:I hope you are right. A depression can't really happen without wrong policies by the CBN, but they seem to be very confused and reactionary. |
What you're doing is perfectly biblical. However, business-savvy pastors will never support such a practice for obvious reasons. Keep doing it! |
Relax. Many people have done what you did. It's commendable that you're trying to make things right. The harm done by your cheating is that you are not worth what your certificates say that you are worth. The way to make restitution for it is to continue acquiring the knowledge and skills that are of value to your prospective employers so that you'll be as valuable to them as someone who truly earned those credentials. |
Pertinent Questions: Could the mortuary attendant be schizophrenic? Schizophrenia makes people experience things that are not real. Is he trying to discourage other people from going into the business by telling spooky stories? Is he trying to justify the fees that the families of dead people have to pay by exaggerating the difficulty of his job? Many people love to concoct and propagate false stories just to get attention. Could he be one of them? |
The words iniquity, sin and transgression are mapped to different hebrew and greek words in different passages by different translators, so this question is largely meaningless. A word translated as iniquity in one passage may be translated as transgression or sin in a different passage. |
Gboyee4fun:The world doesn't hate Christians. Christianity is the most popular religion in the world. The world loves no religion more than Christianity. |
AfricaDiet:Why not use the little money you have to buy out or lease the property from the people who want to evict you? Money is what everyone is looking for including those naughty people. I would be careful about borrowing money in an Emefiele economy. |
Memes are considered to be distracting in most contexts. If you need to make a point, please try to use your own words. |
