flamingREED:I was expecting you to clarify the meaning of being set free from sin since it obviously doesn't mean that you stop sinning. Most born again, spirit filled Christians and other religious people are guilty of lying, lust, anger, and electronic theft. I personally think lust is unavoidable for a healthy person and also awesome. |
SirShifty:Atheism is perfectly suitable since it just means a lack of belief in any god. It does not require certainty. The vast majority of atheists will not claim to be certain. Babies are atheists, because they don't believe in any God. They are converted to religion by their parents. Simple! ![]() |
majekdom2:For God's sake it's just an expression. Jesus! ![]() |
malvisguy212:God in the old testament was tribalistic. He didn't sanction kidnapping Israelites for slavery, but he allowed them to buy slaves from neighbouring tribes regardless of how those slaves were enslaved. This is exactly how America practiced slavery before abolishing it. American weren't allowed to kidnap other Americans for slavery, but they could purchase our ancestors who were kidnapped from Africa. I don't think any country has ever allowed its free citizens to kidnap other free citizens and sell them into slavery. There is nothing to commend in that verse. |
Nightie:Don't you feel disappointed that a book inspired by God requires so much effort to understand it properly, whereas novels written by human authors like Chimamanda Adichie and J K Rowling can be understood by kids? Wouldn't you expect God to be a better at communicating his thoughts than any human author? |
American Evangelicals only care about one thing: abortion. They would vote for the devil himself if he promised to make abortion illegal again. |
flamingREED:Did he, really? Like most religious people, you probably still commit sin every day, so how can you claim to be free from sin? |
Nightie:Do you know why God allowed those contradictions in the first place, knowing that their existence would cause many people to doubt God? |
Title changed from "The Need For A Conscious Watchman (a Discussion)" to "The Existence Of A Conscious Watchman (a Discussion)". This should not have to be said explicitly, but please always try to make sure that the titles of the threads you create match their contents (rule 1) So, let's talk about the existence of a conscious watchman. Does anyone here have any evidence to support this claim? |
akinze100:It's better that way. |
"When I think of the goodness of Jesus, and all he has done for me, my very soul shall shout hallelujah, praise God for saving me!" ![]() |
It's improbable but not impossible. A man's joystick rising due to an unwanted touch is not consent. Consent is a decision; joystick rising is not. |
Lennycool:He was selected to be the first Chairman of the people's bank, but as far as I know, he never ran for office. He was primarily an educator. |
Vorpal:No, but let's not pretend that we don't know that the reason why they ask everyone to dance to the front is because it generates more money. It generates more money because of the shame factor. This shame is amplified by the number of offerings that are collected in every service. |
In the old days when they used to pass around offering baskets, you could skip the offering, but now, they force everyone to dance to the front. |
Lennycool:Yes, absolutely. But no outspoken atheist will ever hold public office in nigeria, not yet anyway. Too much religion and illiteracy. They would think the atheist is the anti Christ completely forgetting the very theist politicians that have robbed us into the ground. Any atheist that wants to run for office will pretend to be theist, and will swear by God, its simply a required sentence.Do you think Tai Solarin could have won an election? (He was widely respected, despite being very outspoken, due to his exemplary lifestyle.) |
Ahmadgani:An atheist can become a state legislator or governor of a multi-religious state. In multi-religious states, people might prefer to vote for an atheist than to vote for someone who follows the other religion. But the atheist might have to pretend to be a deist. "I believe in God but I don't follow organized religion because my faith is personal". Religious people believe that you can't be a good person unless you believe in a God who will judge your actions after death. It would take a very long marketing campaign to convince lots of voters that this is not so. How do nigerian atheist say the national pledge and the second stanza of the national anthem? We can just drop or change the words we object to. E.g. saying "So help me |
Empiree:create a NYSC section thread maybe?? |
Firstboi01:Sorry. didn't know you couldn't log in |
sidonlook:He can declare a state of emergency if the Kaduna governor fails to intervene. This issue is worth a state of emergency since it can affect the whole country if it goes out of hand. Our govt needs to protect the Shias and apologize for our failure to protect them. |
Mujaheeeden:ISIS, Boko Haram, and Al Qaeda have been the 3 most brutal terrorist groups in the world for some time. |
ArabMopol:The Shiites are actually more liberal than the the Sunnis. |
Can someone convince the government to get out of its slumber and put an end to the persecution of the Shias before they create a problem that would be worse than boko haram? Have our Muslim leaders who are all Sunnis become so blinded by their sectarian hatred that they can't see the bigger picture? No words are too harsh to describe anyone who could have prevented this and decided not to. Even if you are a stone age barbarian who doesn't care about human rights, you should know that we don't need to give Iran any excuse to start sponsoring terrorism in this fragile country that's speeding towards a CBN-orchestrated great depression. |
doobyScoo:Good thinking. Welcome to the club of people who don't believe things for which there is no good evidence; the habitat of most great minds. |
Dear Amthankful, here's my understanding of your story: * You had unprotected sex with multiple partners. * You suspected you had contracted HIV from a partner, but you didn't go for any HIV test or ask your partners to do same. * You started having symptoms that could have been caused by HIV, which usually happens 2 - 4 weeks after infection. * Yet you still didn't go for ayn HIV test or ask your partners to do the same. * The symptoms disappeared. * Yet you haven't gone to a hospital to take the HIV test to confirm your healing, nor have you asked your partners to do the same. I have good news and bad news. The good news is that you may never have had HIV. The bad news is that you may still have HIV. I've just learned that HIV infection involves 3 stages: Stage 1: Acute illness starting 2 to 4 weeks after infection, during which you may experience rashes, fever, sore throat, etc. Stage 2: Asymptomatic period, which can last a few months to 10 years, during which you won't experience any symptoms. Stage 3: AIDS, which is the last stage of the infection and leads to death. If the symptoms you experienced were due to stage 1 of HIV, then the "healing" you experienced indicates the commencement of stage 2. Within a few months, or a few years, you will experience full-blown AIDS and you will die. You and your partners need to get yourselves tested for HIV as soon as possible. If you're HIV positive, your doctor will link you up with antiretroviral drugs which can prevent your HIV from progressing to stage 3. With the right antiretroviral drugs, you and your sexual partners may even live for several decades. Regardless of the outcome of the HiV test, you need to buy lots of condoms and keep them on you to solve your problem of unprotected sex. |
mrZENographer:That's a misleading clickbait title. What they are basically saying is that the brain continues to work for some time after your heart stops. Clinical death is when your heart and lungs stop, but as long as your brain is alive you can still be revived. That's technically "life after death". |
If this prophecy by Jesus is true, then all the Christians in the world today have already missed the rapture: For the Son of Man is to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay everyone for what has been done. Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom." Matthew 16:27-28 |
Ailinshukay:If you died without finding out, you'd probably never find out. There's no reason to believe that you'd wake up and be told that there's no God. Pierocash:It's ok, they probably don't want you. If they wanted you, you'd have slept with them and prayed for forgiveness after the act, like most do. ![]() mrZENographer:Well technically, the existence of an afterlife without God is possible. But there's no good evidence for it, just as there's none for God. |
Goshen360:Click the quote button, copy the text that appears in the text editor of the page that opens, and paste it in your new post on the other thread. |
RayRed16:A mistake is if you're having a shower in your private closet and a nude lady suddenly appears and you fall into her, joystick first, out of shock. |
