In my books, that's silly of her
And so what? Haven't you done anything that seemed silly in hindsight? (You have). Does that mean you're a silly boy? If so, we are all silly.

OAM4J: I banned one or two people.

Its ok, I will unlock the thread.

thank you so much... Pls ban as many people as you need to ban for as long as they need to be banned to enforce the rules.

OAM4J: Because the thread was degenerating to e-fighting, name-calling and exchange of insults and I know thorough investigation to the alleged threat cannot be carried out on the pages of Nairaland, hence my advice for the OP to report the allegation to security officials.

That is contrary to our policy. Our policy is to ban the people who break the rules rather than to lock a thread because people broke the rules on it. Did you ban any of the individuals who broke the rules?

zeekz: very true what we need now is a change with an iron fist to implement it, if seun starts to ban those guys maybe just maybe they would reduce it because I know Nigerians dey won't stop.

We do ban them...

olala32:

What's the joke, sir?

OAM4J: On this note, the thread is hereby closed while wishing everyone a save year.

Why was this thread closed?

teemy: An alternative could be 'Number of people who viewed my profile'.

good idea!

What's the reason for sale?

manifest: Dear Seun,

Done (yesterday!)

We've just created a short guide to the pending placement issue that some advertisers have encountered:

Seun: I placed my ad on a section of Nairaland but the placement has been 'pending;'for a very long time. Why?
There are six advertising slots in every section of Nairaland. This means that only six advertisers can place their ads on any section of Nairaland at the same time. Once the six slots are full, any attempt to place ads on the same section by other advertisers will result in a pending placement. However, once a slot is vacated by an advertiser for one of 3 reasons - manual removal, running out of ad credit, or modifying all the ads placed in that section - the slot will be handed over to the advertiser with the earliest pending placement. That is, "1st come, 1st served!"

How long will I have to wait for an ad slot to be vacated so my placements can be activated?
It's impossible to say when an ad slot will be vacated since it depends entirely on what current advertisers choose to do. However, we have observed that some advertisers like to unplace their ads at night, while others like to do so in the weekends, especially on Sunday.

What can I do while I'm waiting for my desired ad slot to be vacated by its current occupants?
While you're waiting for your ad placement to become active, you should consider: (1) Placing your ad on very similar sections that have free slots and don't have a price premium, especially those that are being discounted. (2) Creating new ads to target sections that are less similar. Please resist the temptation to remove and then resubmit pending placements. If you do that, you will be placed at the very end of the queue.

Why is this issue more pronounced in the section where I want to place my ads, and what are you doing about it?
We have just launched a smart algorithm that will gradually balance the demand for and supply of ad slots in the various sections of the forum.

That said, you can be a badass in C++ but then use Python to write extension modules or as a component in a large C++ application!!

I think it's better to use Python to write your large application and then create C++ modules to speed up the parts that are very CPU intensive. That's what many Python shops e.g. Eve Online do. Python is better for expressing the high level logic of your app while C++ is fast but ugly.
