stagger:I doubt that Uncle Joe really knew what was going on. He probably just did what his service chiefs recommended. We need to interview them. |
Seeing people clinging to airplanes and dropping from the sky just to get away from them must have had an impact on some of the Taliban. |
We can't let the north fall to terrorists. You may say it's already fallen, but the truth is that things could get much worse. |
It's funny but people are already practicing telemedicine in Nigeria. |
true2god:The Muslim scholars who graded it sahih were not prophets. They may have been misled as a result of their intense hatred for Jews and Christians. According to muslims, Mohammed had always been 'messenger of allah'.It wasn't a divine revelation or an instruction. |
true2god:How do you know that Abu wasn't lying because he hated Jews. The majority of hadiths were acknowledged by scholars as fake. Maybe this one was fake too but the scholars' hatred for Jews made them accept it. Narrated 'Umar bin Al-Khattab: That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: If I live - if Allah wills - I will expel the Jews and the Christians from the Arabian Peninsula. This was never claimed to be a message from God. |

The fact that you don't like something doesn't mean it should be banned. If you don't like it, don't watch it! So simple, but they don't get it. |
Codepain:Isn't human life sacred? |
JoshOxborn:That wouldn't surprise me. Could you correct it for me? I want to learn. |
Baskela:Which ones specifically? :-) |
weblord1900:We will fix the north so that all of Nigeria can be great and no part of Nigeria will feel held back by others. |
Gorillakiller25:The unity of Nigeria is non-negotiable. |
Sahara TV posted this video of Nnamdi Kanu supporters singing that he is a saviour, with Sowore, founder of Sahara reporters, in their midst: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-or8V4_O1s Nnamdi Kanu is not a saviour but he deserves a fair trial. Everyone does. However, the unity of Nigeria is non-negotiable. |
iamjavadem:People are saying there was no gas in them. If so, they should have been able to stop the fire. If not, then they were stupid for placing them there. Either way, the store really messed up. |
I think we should just stop talking about "eliminating poverty" which is kind of ambiguous and start talking about the privileges we want all people to have. For example, we might want all kids to be educated. We might want to end malnutrition. We might want to provide universal healthcare or Internet access for all. These things are all achievable. But there will always be some people who have less than other people and they will be considered poor, even after giving them all the things above, so let's set the p-word aside and be more specific. |
BetExpert:They placed flammable materials on top of the gas stove. There is no way to light that gas stove without burning the items they stacked on top of it. If the gas cooker didn't have flammable items right on top of it, then lighting it wouldn't have caused a fire. The positioning of the stove while it was connected to gas was either the most idiotic decision in the history of the world or a deliberate act to facilitate the disaster that occured. |
This video shows that the staff saw the fire early on. I would like to see if they brought back a fire extinguisher as the commentator said they were going to. I don't believe those lighters alone could have burned down the entire supermarket if they used a fire extinguisher shortly after that employee saw the fire, unless they were storing larger quantities of gas or other flammable materials in the store. I would really love to see what the staff did after detecting the fire. Update: Also, this video clearly shows that they had a full sized gas cooker connected to gas inside a store. And they placed lighters and gas cylinders on top of the gas cooker. The young girl started the fire by simply using matches to light the cooker. The idiocy of connecting gas to a cooker inside a store and placing flammable goods on top of it is mind-boggling. Ebeano Supermarket has no one to blame but themselves. The girl could have been sent or she could just have been a naughty kid who, being a kid, didnt know that (1) Lighting a gas stove on fire would burn down the whole store, and (2) there was a CCTV monitoring her actions. I feel that, if an adult sent her, they would have known about the CCTV. We need to find out who connected that stove to a gas source and why. I hope the police knows this. |
Codepain:Thanks for this nuanced response. Do you think the Sheikh should be disciplined for calling for all blasphemers to be killed outside competent Sharia courts? Also, what punishment do you think a blasphemer should receive in a competent Sharia court. Death? |
If you define the poor as the least wealthy people in a society, you cannot end poverty. There's no practical definition of poverty that can be applied across space and time. Some people considered poor in one country would be rich if they made the same amount of money in another country. Some people considered poor in 2021 enjoy more pleasant and luxurious lives than people considered rich in 1821. |
Samcent:My siblings are walking in their footsteps. My sister is a medical consultant married to a medical consultant, both practicing in the US and raising two beautiful daughters in Christ. My brother is a brilliant educator, director and heir to a Christian educational empire who is happily married to a pastor's daughter and they have a fantastic home. I'm actually the least of the Osewas in spite of the popularity of this little forum. |

There is no other judgement to the blasphemy against the Apostle of Allah than killing. If you repent, that is your business over there with Allah; if He so pleases, he’d forgive you, but we here have been instructed to kill you. Whoever touches the Apostle of Allah, kill him. Do not report such case to the authority, just kill. They say do not take laws into your hand; who then asked him to transgress with his hands? There is no judgement that anyone could give; the very moment you blaspheme against the Apostle of Allah, your judgement is being killed. Even if it was the Lima of Mecca that blasphemed the Apostle of Allah, his judgement is death, let alone one useless rascal.Sheikh Bello Yabo called for Muslims to kill any person who blasphemes against the Holy prophet. Even if she is a Muslim who has repented of the blasphemy, he says that you must kill her, not to mention if she is a Christian. If she is arrested by the authorities, imprisoned for a while and then released, you should still kill her after she has been released. Do you support or condemn this teaching by the Sheikh? For me as a humanist, this is the most evil teaching I have ever read in my life, so I want to challenge Muslims on Nairaland to condemn it. |

The US authorities like to exaggerate the danger of African Land snails. The main issue with the snails is that they are an invasive species. When released into a new habitat they can wreck havoc on ecosystems. They eat everything and multiply rapidly. They're not that dangerous. The "meningitis" thing is nothing but a scare tactic, but it's very effective. |
