The Ngel Nyaki Forest Reserve is a beautiful forest in Taraba state which hosts numerous species of birds and endangered chimpanzees. However, it’s being destroyed by herdsmen seeking to feed their cows. The Nigerian Montane Forest Project, which employs numerous locals and university students, hopes to reverse the destruction of this forest by planting trees for birds and also ensuring that the herdsmen can feed and water their cows without destroying the forest. You can learn more about them in the video below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byUxC6H5J6I They have a chance of receiving a significant amount of money from the European Outdoor Conservation Association to support their plan, if they win the poll below on EOCA’s website. I’d like you to urgently vote for them (“Bringing Back The Birds, Nigeria) on the poll below, as it ends tomorrow: https://www.eocaconservation.org/project-voting-category.cfm?catid=5 Thank you!

zeratehk:How much do they earn? |
This applies mostly to Lagos. |
Many people on social media are posting stories of punishments and abuse that they experienced OR witnessed in university fellowships: Baby Boy started the discussion by saying, "I remember back in uni, when one of my guys came back home all moody and stuff. He said it was malaria, and I was pitying him. Only to later find out that Baba was flogged for coming late to Workers Meeting at BLW. I wanted to run mad. A fellow student flogged you? Haa!" Samuel said, "I remember a student, who was a Uni fellowship dance dept leader, instructing some members who came late for rehearsal to either kneel down or stand on a chair & close their eyes. She gave each of them several slaps/punches. I left after that, because Jesus didn’t die for this." Becca said, "That's how I was asked to run round OAU (Big) football pitch for coming late for choir practice. If I could run, I wouldn't get there late. And you'll have to be running until he decides it's okay to stop o. Person wey I old pass o. If I hear say I join them, others did this." Nene said, "That was how I was flogged at one youth meeting like that. Pastor said I have a spiritual husband and spiritual kids and that I have initiated have of his members. I had to confess when the flogging was too much. My dad arrested him the next day." Yesin said, "I remembered in school, when they seized my roommate's phone with the intention of selling it because she was a PCF leader and hadn't contributed for their Pastor's birthday. Omo those people see me run!!! I told my roommate she wouldn't enter our room until she collected her phone. Then I told the leaders of the fellowship that they can no longer hold cell meetings in our room. After all I no be their member. We sha had it hot." Prince of Jakarta said, "There was this babe I was on her matter during uni days, she invited me to her church as a criteria to agree. There, the pastor was complaining of how they don't praise him enough. That's how they knelt down and started apologising. I stopped disturbing the girl after that day." And finally, Star Girl said, "The one that happened in UNILAG that year. They found out their student pastor wasn’t even a student. They were donating to the church, pastor used it to rent apartment, he sexually assaulted many of the girls. Some of them already even dropped out to focus on God. A mess!! Which of these stories do you believe? Did you experience or hear about anything similar to the above when you were in a campus fellowship? To tell you the truth, I never heard of anything like that on campus, but I knew someone in Ota someone whose pastor "disciplined" her. |
makermix1:These stood out to me during my first watch: • The part where they used the brain of an animal to control a robot and used the brain of a human being to control the animal’s brain. The only conceivable reason for doing that is to ensure that the plot happens. • The part where an animal’s heartbeat got weaker and weaker until it stopped, after it was fatally injured, and they were able to restart the heart with a massive electric shock and the animal just got up and continued fighting. They should have had to deal with the injuries that caused his heart to stop in the first place. • The fact that they had almost magical technology everywhere in the movie but they didn’t have the ability to track and neutralize a giant lizard that could destroy their cities anytime it felt like doing so. Incompetence. |
The action was phenomenal but the movie had me confused most of the time because the science made no sense at all, from beginning to end. |
Is this a style of marketing or sincere? |

Nice, I'll try to watch your match. |
Has it stopped? |
Could you post pics of your kennels for those of us that just like dogs? (No pun intended) |
donnie:Even today? Can you try it again today? |
We stopped them a while ago and now we're mopping up the old threads. |
Can't believe we have superbowl fans here. |
Hmmm. |
armyofone:Prince Charles is involved in everything that is wrong with the royal family. He's probably the one who had concerns about Archie's skin tone. |
I'm willing to accept this vaccination. Not for myself, of course, but just to inspire Nairaland members to take it in 2023 when it's their turn. ![]() |
Drabeey:Try converting them to naira. |
Ajibaba101:It's a very good idea, and it's lovely to see young people raising so much money because of their hard work. It's inspiring. |
I cannot even wrap my head around these huge sums of money that Nigerians are raising. |
Sadly those people can still be infected with the South African variant against which the Oxford/Astrazenica vaccine of which we intend to get 10 million doses is barely effective. The vaccines can easily be updated and I think they really should do that right away. |
inoki247:How is it right now? |
Sorry my brother. How is it now? |
HopeVictor:And avoid infecting other people. |
Brooke60:You got it. Nice to hear from you. |
kponkedenge:He literally said that the government knows where the bandits are, because of aerial surveillance, but they are afraid that going in guns blazing as they did before will escalate the situation. |
azpekuliar:There’s nothing like benevolent dictatorship. When you don’t have the consent of the people you are governing, you will have to use brutal tactics and lies to keep them under control. You cannot allow freedom of speech because people will start complaining about your mistakes and evil deeds and agitating for your removal through forceful means, which will make you paranoid and soon you’ll start executing people you suspect of plotting against you and persecuting your critics. Democracy provides a means of replacing our leaders without bloodshed, thus democratic rulers don’t have to be so paranoid. If people don’t like you they’ll vote you out and you will rejoin society. You won’t be killed. So leaders get to focus on doing positive things that will make people vote for them again. Our democracies in Africa are very flawed, but we still enjoy freedoms that people in wealthier countries that are not democratic do not enjoy. Chinese people cannot use Facebook or Twitter or WhatsApp because the Chinese govt is afraid of allowing their people to see social media posts that are critical of their actions, but we in Nigeria have access to these things because of democracy. Our govt may not like being criticized on social media, but it’s not an existential threat to them. |
Reference:He tried to run before; we didn't vote for him. He tried to work with others, and they won, but they broke their promises. What should he do now? |
Dayoebe:Close to Lagos-Ogun border. |
Mode4:You shouldn't interact with anyone if you suspect that you have covid, not to mention you own mother. By the time you're sure, it'd be too late. |
trentslawson:Name the hospital so we can investigate further. |
