Jobs/VacanciesRe: Post Your Vacancies On Nairalist.com: It's Easy And It's Free by Seun(mod): 1:30pm On Jan 19, 2009
I wonder why people are posting dating, auto, housing ads but no one is posting vacancies yet.
ProgrammingRe: Game Development,the Next Level: by Seun(mod): 1:12pm On Jan 19, 2009
You remember the facebook guys and myspace? they never expected to get the money they got from social networking but they did eventually made it.
Myspace and Facebook would not have gotten any money from investors if they never expected to make money. And no one knows whether Facebook will make enough money to justify the current valuation. The lesson to learn from them is that advertisers may be able to pay for what your direct users are unwilling to pay for. I read something about Google Adsense for Games recently; look into it.

SportsRe: Let's Nigerianize The Nairaland Sports Section by Seun(mod): 7:22pm On Jan 17, 2009
If the majority of people on the sports forum are interested in foreign topics, it's going to attract more premiership fans. It's like the situation in the religion section where everything is dominated by Christians. A slight majority becomes overwhelming due to network effects.

Greed?
AutosRe: Please Cross-Post Your Car Ads On Nairalist - Now Supports Pictures! by Seun(mod): 6:25pm On Jan 17, 2009
The poster didn't include any contact information. Ouch. I guess I have to pull the ad.

Checks. That's the only 'legal' way to collect your adsense earnings.
ProgrammingRe: Need Ur Contribution, Browse Based Application On A Lan by Seun(mod): 9:00pm On Jan 16, 2009
I will say it again: listen to the customer. If the customer is agnostic, go for what you know best. The kind of program you're trying to build is not rocket science: even Visual Basic 6 will do the job. Marketing considerations and your personal comfort are more important than being cool.
BusinessRe: Does Anyone Know Any Alternative To Graphcard? by Seun(mod): 5:56pm On Jan 16, 2009
I use orderbay too.  www.orderbay.com They are professionals.
Example: When you go to the bank to pay money into their account,
before you return home a confirmation email is already waiting for you.
ProgrammingRe: Need Ur Contribution, Browse Based Application On A Lan by Seun(mod): 5:40pm On Jan 16, 2009
Don't listen to your colleagues. Listen to your customers. If they would pay more for a browser based version, then do it. if not, save yourself the aggravation of working with unfamiliar tools.

SportsLet's Nigerianize The Nairaland Sports Section by Seun(mod): 3:45pm On Jan 16, 2009
Nigerian players of all sports, both at home and abroad.  Nigerian boxers, coaches, players, basketballers, polo players, table tennis professionals.  Nigerian leagues in all sports.  Let's re-make the sports forum so that 90% of the posts will be about Nigerian topics.  How about that?  Moderators, whsat do you think?  Noble sports brethren?  Is there life beyond the premier league?
AutosRe: Please Cross-Post Your Car Ads On Nairalist - Now Supports Pictures! by Seun(mod): 1:46pm On Jan 16, 2009
If you are a car seller living overseas, just visit www.nairalist.com/overseas/autos

If you are a car seller living in Nigeria, visit the home page and select your state of residence first.

Then, go to the bottom of the list of cars for sale and click the "Post A New Advert" link.

It may be a real estate bubble if prices are really rising as fast as you say.  Just like what happened in the NSE.  not the best time to buy.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts ,  go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
"David inquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the Lord said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines ,  So David smote them with a great slaughter."
That was thousands of years ago.  Apparently God's will has not been fully done yet. Some Gentiles are still alive.
Christianity EtcRe: Oyedepo Curses Robbers Who Raided Canaanland by Seun(mod): 4:41pm On Jan 15, 2009
witch is someone who don't want our progress.
A witch is a witch, Mr. Man. Stop redefining words to suit your prejudices.

But the same Bible tell that we should not suffer the witch not to live but to die
The bible also says if an armed robber rapes your daughter, his punishment is that he must marry your daughter.

WebmastersRe: Markus Friend Of Plentyoffish.com by Seun(mod): 11:26am On Jan 15, 2009
Traffic is the key to this kind of earning.  That's what I love about adsense.  Once you know how to generate legitimate traffic to your website, you don't really need to know anything else about business. That's why I will never teach a seminar about entrepreneurship. Because what do I know, really?
WebmastersRe: I'm Testing Nairalist.com: What Do You Think? by Seun(mod): 11:21am On Jan 15, 2009
There is going to have to be "Men looking for women", "Women looking for men"
If you think about it, this isn't really true. Men and women looking for each other can use the same section. The men will mostly post ads and the women will mostly read and respond to ads. And both parties will be satisfied. The only people that won't be satisfied are men looking for men and women looking for women. They will each need their own categories, if you think about it, but heterosexuals need only one. And that's very convenient.

Imagine having to wade through thousands of ads to find what you are looking for.
That's what people do each time they read newspaper classifieds, and they don't really complain. People don't always know what they want, so it often pays to show them everything that's available. However, I'm already formulating a site search plan to help people who know exactly what they want.

If i am looking for where to buy computer (which is the popular thing of sale) which column do i check out?
Sales. I didn't feel I could spare an entire section for computers or electronics. If what you say is true about computer ads being popular, then it will definitely dominate the sales sections. Example
BusinessDon't Advertise Here. Advertise On Our Sister Site: NairaList by Seun(mod): 10:58am On Jan 15, 2009
Ads posted here are considered to be spam, because this is a discussion forum.

But NairaList.com, our sister site, is the right place to post adverts.  It's a classified advertising service for Nigerians with support for dating, jobs, housing, sales of products, and services.  It's 100% free and it doesn't even require registration.

If you are tempted to post adverts here, don't!  Post them on NairaList.com instead!
