If men have the right to be arrogant because they are "breadwinners", rich women should also have the right.

WebmastersMarkus Friend Of Plentyoffish.com by Seun(mod): 8:41pm On Jan 09, 2009
Frind's online dating company, Plenty of Fish, is newly located on the 26th floor of a downtown skyscraper with a revolving restaurant on the roof. The gleaming space could easily house 30 employees, but as Frind strides in, it is eerily quiet -- just a room with new carpets, freshly painted walls, and eight flat-screen computer monitors. Frind drops his bag and plops himself down in front of one of them.

He looks down at his desk. There's a $180,000 order waiting for his signature. It's from VideoEgg, a San Francisco company that is paying Frind to run a series of Budweiser commercials in Canada. Like most of his advertising deals, this one found Frind. He hadn't even heard of VideoEgg until a week ago. But then, you tend to attract advertisers' attention when you are serving up 1.6 billion webpages each month.

That's a lot of personal ads. "One-point-six ba-hillion," Frind says slowly, smacking his lips on the hard b. "There are maybe 10 sites in the U.S. with more than that." Five years ago, he started Plenty of Fish with no money, no plan, and scant knowledge of how to build a Web business. Today, according to the research firm Hitwise, his creation is the largest dating website in the U.S. and quite possibly the world. Its traffic is four times that of the dating pioneer Match, which has annual revenue of $350 million and a staff that numbers in the hundreds. Until 2007, Frind had a staff of exactly zero. Today, he employs just three customer service workers, who check for spam and delete nude images from the Plenty of Fish website while Frind handles everything else.

Hello Omnipotens, thanks for your comments!

You are using inline styles, why not consider an external .CSS file for them
I actually have the CSS in a separate file, but I chose to combine it with each page to reduce latency.
The pages are compressed so they are quite small. I can reduce the CSS size further if necessary.

The font size for the text area is small. I'm on a screen resolution of 1024 X 768, what about users with say higher resolutions? It might be so tiny for them. Consider an increment for accessibility purposes.
Really? Hmmm. What browser are you using?

I think the text area should house a WYSIWYG editor so enhance text formatting or BBcode just like that used for making posts in forums.
Good idea, but I'm not sure that the increased complication is necessary. We'll see, I guess.

One more thing, I think poster should be able to edit their posts in case of typographical errors or change in decision of their posts.
Good idea. Actually, not being able to change their posts should make people more careful. We'll see.

**::: I hope the website admin can edit or delete even modify posts. So can delete some of these test posts Wink
Now I can.

Yes ooooo. The adverts in here are getting much and nutty as people post what you can and cannot imagine in here.
It's a pity that the new website will not prevent people from posting ads here without additional measures.

Are you against it? Some webmasters have dozens of sites, so it's not that strange.

WebmastersRe: I'm Testing Nairalist.com: What Do You Think? by Seun(mod): 7:31am On Jan 07, 2009
Thanks, Omni. Fortunately, this is just the beginning. There's still so much work to be done.

My hope is that with this we would be able to use Nairaland more as a discussion forum and not an advert board.

Note: The first ad posted was an auto ad, but it was posted in the "personals" section. Subsequently, I decided to rework the schema a bit:
- The personals section is now known as "dating".
- The products section has been merged with the Services section and they are both known as "Ads" - i.e. for miscellaneous ads.
- And a separate section has been added again for Autos, since it's such a popular category.

Unfortunately, someone who was composing an ad in the product section was unable to post it because of the change, because the products section no longer exists. I'm very very sorry about that.

Foreign AffairsRe: Welcome To Pallywood by Seun(mod): 6:12am On Jan 06, 2009
Alternative explanation: the photographers took the two pics on the same day.  The first photo was taken with her father immediately after the incident, and the second one with her uncles after she had been dressed back up.  The photographers simply mixed the pictures up, happens a lot. Notice that her red sweater in the second pic is present in the first?

he was screaming out over the loss of his wife or friend?
And his friend was holding him the way grieving women are held?
