I'm the admin and sole moderator of this forum.
I have tried, but I cannot keep up with you guys.
I need great moderators, but I can't find any.
The more I try to explain, the more abuse I get.

Therefore I'm going on a break, for a few days.
Or a few weeks. I'm not sure. Maybe months.
I won't return until I get a permanent solution.

It's not disrespect. Most of you guys can't do it. Those that can, I don't trust them. It's a pity.

There's no shortage of good secondary schools in this country. If you've attended Secondary school, and passed English and Mathematics, you can pick up many vocations by trial and error, the Internet, apprenticeship, and through vocational training.

We have too many graduates who are looking for jobs in very glamorous places like banks and oil companies not realizing that there are many employers looking for hardworking employees who may or may not have degrees. For example,

- I was once looking for a web administrator, and I couldn't find any competent one. All I need is someone who can read, is computer-literate, and can manage the site. Is there a degree in forum management? You've gotta make yourselves instead of waiting for graduation and a job in an oil company. Who says my web administrator can't earn more than a banker if he proves to be indispensable to the growth of the forum? But I posted the ad and because I was not representing a big company I only got 2-3 responses.

- I need a real estate agent that can take pictures of the houses he's selling and show them to me instead of asking me to follow him to 10 different houses just because I want to select one.

Many things like are in demand, and they don't require a degree. They require a willingness to learn and a willingness to work hard. If you can't afford a quality degree in a quality university, it's not by force. It's just one of the many paths a young person can follow. A country develops when people start doing things with what they have at their disposal instead of whining because they don't have what they think is ideal. A time will come when we would have so many universities that the price will be as low as the price of secondary education, but if you can't afford it right now it's all good.

Precisely. We can't all be doctors and lawyers. We need actors, writers, webmasters, and messengers too.

It's easy to say such things when you're not one of those who has been killed or mained for life by his "brave" policies.

I can't find a good moderator.

Delight Zone, which is an arcade opened up in 2001 or so (and I thing it is a decent place), but the few times I was able to go there in 2001 it was rather empty.

Arcades are for children. Children don't have lots of money. Those that have lots of money (rich parents) also have game consoles at home, with games that are far better than arcade games. And the arcade is probably overpriced. When a business fails, don't blame the customers. Don't blame Port harcourt. Blame the entrepreneur who didn't do his homework well.

If you are able to get your hands on the latest Hollywood movies and screen them at affordable prices, you'll probably succeed. If you decide to show 1980 movies and charge 5000 naira per seat, it will fail regardless of where the theater is located. Personally, I think it's a risky venture because it can't be easy for a Nigerian company to get distribution rights to the latest Hollywood movies the way Silverbird Cinemas does.

Personally, I would rather run a movie theater screening quality Nigerian movies hand-picked by a good movie critic. I won't have to charge 1500 naira per seat to make back the cost of those movies, unlike Hollywood movies. I'd charge 500 naira per seat in any major city except Lagos.

Charging a hefty tuition fee is a good way to deal with "overcrowded classrooms".
In life, you can't get something for nothing, unless you are a thief, which you're not.

The more I learn about acting, the more it seems like a profession I'll never advice anyone to go into professionally. Which is very ironic, since as a producer I can't get anything done without actors!

My beef with acting as a profession:
- The hot movie lights, sunlight and though conditions under which actors have to labor.
- Your success depends on things you can't control: luck, your looks, and more luck.
- You never know when or where your next job is going to come from. It's all random.
- You don't own the words you're required to speak. You just memorize and perform.

What do you guys think? Is acting a vocation that's best pursued as a hobby, and not as a profession?
