$50,000 is probably not enough to build a hospital and employ doctors, but it's a good thought.

I'll just do something to help poor kids.
Let's go into the specifics. Poor kids where? And what exactly would you buy to help poor kids? What would be the critirium for selection of the specific kids you'll help? Details! Tommorrow you might find yourself with the money.

As for me, I might collect a list of the online articlesthat promote certain important social values and then run a really aggressive Google Adwords campaign to get millions of people to read them during the 2 week period. For instance, I might write articles about various businesses that can be set up in Africa to make money and at the same time help millions and then use the money to push the articles to potential investors with more than just $50,000.

People with bad dreams waking up with injuries on their bodies? Alas, I am not a doctor, but I assume that someone who is having a bad dream might be thrashing about on the bed and get injured that way. In a hostel situation, it might be a cruel prank played upon that person at night by fellow students in the same room.

I actually thought i was mimicking my older brother beside me.
I am proud of your boldness to confess the truth. Your exceptional honesty deserves commendation.

The things of the spirit WILL NEVER make sense to a carnal minded person.
That is very offensive to my atheism. I am outraged! Apologize, or else I will rain down fire and limestone!
Nairaland GeneralWhat Good Cause(s) Would You Spend A $50,000 Grant On? by Seun(mod): 3:19am On May 12, 2006
Hello Nairalanders,

At the beginning of a 2 week leave from work, a rich friend calls you aside and offers you $50,000 to spend on any good cause of your choice.

You're free to spend the $50,000 as you wish during your leave under the following conditions:
1) You must spend it on a good cause that somehow "makes the world a better place".
2) You musn't spend it directly or indirectly to favor yourself or people you know.

How would you spend the $50,000 dollars?

Thanks in advance for your response!

$50,000 is about 7.25 million naira only

CrimeRe: Is Nigeria Police Really To Protect? by Seun(mod): 11:00pm On May 11, 2006
Since both of your stories are from Part Harcourt, maybe the Port Harcourt police is woeful.

Have you heard of Operation Sweep and Fire for Fire? Do you know I have actually followed a lady to the police station to report a physical assault case and they attended to the person? It wasn't even sexual assault.

We have both good eggs and bad eggs in the Police. President Obasanjo's regime was making progress before the regretable third term fiasco started. Some Nairaland job seekers recently applied for police training, so there's hope.
Christianity EtcRe: Is There Anything Like Spiritual Attack? by Seun(mod): 10:54pm On May 11, 2006
I remember in 1995 one occasion under a tree were we usually play draft when we notice a small bird fell from under the tree and one man standing there tried to pickup the bird and suddenly the bird turn to a naked young girl, everybody was amazed.

Then people ask the girl what she was doing under the tree naked and she answered they send her on a mission to a community to check if there is electricity in that town she should destroy the transformer from the gas turbine to make sure there is no light.
LOL!! So NEPA failure is caused by the devil! Come on, man, this story is a fabrication!

If there's electricity, she should destroy the transformer from the gas turbine? That makes no sense. Gas turbines are not used to distribute electricity. And why did she even feel the need to reveal her top-secret mission? if she was infiltrating the town on a spying mission, wouldn't it have made sense to have some clothes on?

Speaking in tongues is easy once you realise what it's all about. Open your mouth (in "faith") and start speaking random syllables.

CrimeRe: Is Nigeria Police Really To Protect? by Seun(mod): 10:26pm On May 11, 2006
About rape case that dortzman witnessed: what action did you take to seek justice for those girls? Did you try reporting the case to the higher ranked police officers? The fact is that there are criminals like that in every country, but if we are too timid to look for ways to deal with them they will keep operating with impunity.
CrimeRe: Is Nigeria Police Really To Protect? by Seun(mod): 10:22pm On May 11, 2006
As someone currently living in Nigeria, I believe that our policemen are ok. Yes, they are quite corrupt, but when there's a break-down of law and order they are usually there to save the day.

If you think policemen are bad, try armed robbers and street urchins. A policeman would hardly wake up one morning and just decide to start killing people of a particular religion or tribe. what we have is better than nothing at all.

Most newspaper sites are also larger than Nairaland. Considering the quality of their content, I don't think it's possible to beat them unless one attracts a large following by people who have no interest in Nigeria.

I don't appreciate poems so much; they are generally not very real. if a poem is written for me and really captures truths about my person then I'd appreciate it. General poems, however, don't interest me much. Yet!
