PoliticsRe: Nigerian Scammers Setting The Stage For Terrorism? by Seun(mod): 4:47am On May 13, 2006
"and America believes that Nigerian scammers are associated to Osama, they believe every cent siphoned by these set of people are gotten to fund the next terrorist attack"

Very funny. Are you really serious? grin

Christianity EtcRe: Why Do Religions Deserve Respect? by Seun(mod): 2:53am On May 13, 2006
Atheism is a belief that God doesn' exist. That point is not under dispute.

What is under dispute is the proper response when someone says, "what you just did is disrespectful to my religion". Should you apologize because "religions deserve respect" or can just tell them to go to hell?
WebmastersRe: Google Trends by Seun(mod): 2:40am On May 13, 2006
Google Trends only works as a traffic estimator for really large sites. Doesn't work for any Nigerian website I know. Not even Nairaland, so you can imagine the amount of traffic you need for this to be useful.
Christianity EtcRe: Why Do Religions Deserve Respect? by Seun(mod): 2:31am On May 13, 2006
Let me say a little more about the subjectiveness of the word "respect". My dad believes that it is disrespectful for me to say that something he said is not right. Whereas I don't. If he says something that's clearly wrong and i say "no, daddy, that is not true", have I disrespected him? It depends on who you ask, doesn't it?

So, saying "we should respect religions" or even "we should respect individuals" is actually quite meaningless. "Respect animals" to an animal rights activist may mean, "treat them almost like human beings". To others it might mean "say your prayers before eating their meat" and both of them believe they are respecting animals.
Music/RadioRe: Leela James: I Love Her! (Music) by Seun(mod): 2:21am On May 13, 2006
if i'm not mistaken, she's into soul music n i see u ain't a fan either so iono watchu doin in this thread!
Corinne Bailey Rae is also a black soul musician and I listen to "Put Your records On" and "like A Star" every day. I
actually bought them on Itunes, & no regrets. So the problem I have is with Leela James, and not Soul Music!
Christianity EtcRe: Why Do Religions Deserve Respect? by Seun(mod): 2:10am On May 13, 2006
The mere practice of any religion does not necessarily constitute "disrespect" to a non-religious position
That is a very strong assertion. Prove it!

You need to understand that 'respect' is very subjective word. If I feel that by holding to a religion that holds that I'm a fool because I don't believe in God you are disrespecting my beliefs, then I have been disrespected.

In a recent thread, I said "the Christian God definitely does not exist" and people felt offended. Whereas it was just an expression of my beliefs. So you see, it's all subjective. What you see as disrespect may not be the same in the other person's eyes. It depends on how you define "disrespect". depends on your feelings, my feelings.

What do you regard as disrespect for Christianity? Were the Muhammad cartoons disrespectful of Islam?
Christianity EtcRe: Why Do Religions Deserve Respect? by Seun(mod): 1:56am On May 13, 2006
I don't understand the atheistic mindset; but that is no licence for a display of disrespect either to the atheist or to his persuasions, even though I don't have confidence in his position.
It's hard to demonstrate how empty this pious staement is. what exactly is "disrespect"?

What if I tell you that the mere practice of Christianity constitutes disrespect of my own atheistic beliefs?

If you bought 100 domains at the total cost of $800, the additional $100 to make them private won't be completely unreasonable. Good luck!
PoliticsRe: Ait License Revoked Because Of Live Transmission Of Senate 3rd Term Debate?! by Seun(mod): 1:04pm On May 12, 2006
I still receive AIT here via BEN TV. It wouldn’t astonish if their licence was in fact revoked and someone saw some sense and decided not to see the whole thing through.
"For this sin, the federal Government has cancelled the network license of AIT and given the media organization a 21-day ultimatum to dismantle its transmitters and relocate its operational base from Asokoro hill."
http://www.vanguardngr.com/articles/2002/cover/may06/10052006/f210052006.html

So there's a 21 day ultimatum. Can someone in the media industry explain what "network license" means? Perhaps what is being withdrawn is just the privilege to cover the proceedings in Abuja?

I'd help Young girls that were raped. And young single mothers, like a training home.
This is a thoughtful idea, hot-angel. And it can be started on a very small scale. Can you make it self-sustaining?

The itunes preview of "I got your man" sounded average to me. Her top song on Itunes is "underneath it all", a collab effort with the band 'No Doubt'. I don't know, but her voice is just not my type!
Nairaland GeneralRe: What Good Cause(s) Would You Spend A $50,000 Grant On? by Seun(mod): 7:00am On May 12, 2006
By non-violent, I mean those that are not likely to put my employees and fellow inmates at risk. Like convicted homosexuals, convicted naira abusers, prisoners of conscience or politics, white collar criminals, petty thieves, et cetera. All those people who could contribute significantly to our country instead of just rotting away in jail for crimes they may or may not have committed.

It's also important to serve detainees because some Nigerians spend many years just waiting for trial.

chinani, I'm impressed by your ideas for the South Eastern Nigeria. Did you live there for a long time? If you have a reasonable amount of money in the near future and you really want to make impact, you can just choose one particular village to implement all your ideas. That way, you'll make a really big difference to the lives of thee lucky few.

Most of my ideas will take more than $50,000 and 2 weeks, sadly. They will be better shared on another thread.

I'd like to start a small private prison house. A prison house for hardworking, non-violent or repentant prisoners or detainees with superior living conditions. The government only be required to release the prisoners to my custody. The prisoners (or detainees) will 'pay' for this housing by submitting to vocational training and various jobs that will be presented to them by me and my employees. They will be truly rehabilitated and I'll make money. Workable?

If my prison house is profitable, I will keep adding branches until 80% of Nigerian prisoners are under my care.
