oxford: 2. OUTSHINING THE GODFATHERSAverage Nigerian is tired of the past leaders, political actors and the godfathers, so they massively chose him because they thought he was going to be better than them, rather he is just like them 1) You Win programe which is acually a compensation to children of political associate and girlfriends. Can u tell me any poor man, ordinary NYSC member or common man 4rm Abakaliki, Idanre, oktupo or jalingo that is among the beneficiaries of You win programe? Instead they are all fine face peaple who really does not need it 2 Thank God power is improving, but alot still need to be done because if u sample critical areas in 9ja(Lagos, Ogun, Ibadan, Aba, kaduna and kano) there is little or no improvement in electricity. By the way, how will a sensible man claim that Nigerians hate Jona because of improved power supply? 3 Sure-P Money, uuummh can u pls tell me 2 particular things Jona gov have achieved with sure-p funds? Rather we hear about how it is being shared among Pdp people especially in states controlled opposition. This show that pdp is determined to use that money fight to political post instead of poverty. 4 Those roads u ve mentioned i don't think u av use any 4 u to know nothing has happend on it. To me i think people hates jona because he seems to be failing in those areas u ve mentioned rather than being successful as u ve claimed. How can some one hate u 4 making his life better? |

oxford: 4. UNDERMINING THE POWER OF THE MEDIA.Is it now that media is trying to point out his corruptions, mismangment, bad style of leadership etc that they are all controlled and owned by Tinubu? When media was fighting kitchen cabals, Turai, Anduaka and co when they were trampling on his right where was the notion that Tinubu owns them? What op ignored was that majority of the media are owned by his peaple in Southsouth. From Vanguard to Guardian, Silverbird to AIT. So where is Tinubu? Even if it is him atleast he has provided employment in his own capacity. So y can't jona do the same. Can u please tell me why people don't watch NTA and who controls NTA? Don't just form lies up against media because they don't do ur Oga's bidding. |
oxford: When you hear people call GEJ names like "clueless", "Shoeless" "retardeen" its not just for nothing! Below are 6 reason why GEJ is deservingly, the most insulted president ever.I hate it when people play tribal cards when their associate is guilty, see oxford judging tribally as Gej got there with the vote 4rm Otueke. Myopic people forget past and never think of future otherwise oxford would have known that more than 70million people voted 4 oga Jona and otueke, bayelsa and entire southsouth does not have such population. So where is ds minority hatred comes from? My friend average Nigerians on the street is not concern about ur silly tribal stuff, all he wants is food, job, home, gud health, security and better life. Give him that and he is happy with u. |

CFCfan: The Governor's terms can be formulated by residents of the particular state and the State House of Assembly. In fact, the states should have their own constitutions-to keep the spirit of true federalism alive. However, the National (Federal) constitution would still be the supreme law of the land.well u are not far from being right. |
It may be fun to us now, but the truth is it leave a scares in our heart and u can see the evidence on some topics. True i have an igbo friends and business partners but every words we say here deposite something into our mind which we uncously act upon it. |
CFCfan: I don't think it's right for the federal legislature to include term limits of governors into the National constitution. They should decide term 4 governors and president otherwise why are we a nation if the term of the governors will be fomulated at governors door step. |
Do we vote them in to stop Jonathan? May be someone should tell them that Nigerians will decide that, their own function is to make laws that will stand the test of time. We don't want laws that will satisfy today and create future problems |
IN an arrangement that may put a stop to the 2015 ambitionof President Goodluck Jonathan, the Senate Committee on the Review of the Constitution has recommended non-renewable single six year tenure for the office of President, Vice-President, governors and their deputies. The Senate panel's recommendation also disqualifies Jonathan and incumbent governors from benefitting from the new arrangement if the recommendation becomes law. The PUNCH learnt on Monday that members of the committee, who held a three-day working retreat which ended in Lagos on Sunday, arrived at the decision after a heated debate. A National Assembly member who was privy to the recommendation confided in one of our correspondents that,"We thought hard before arriving at this decision. We considered the current heating up of the polity by those interested in running for office in 2015. "We also looked at what normally happens each time weare about to enter into an election year. "If the recommendation scales through, none of the current office holders from the President down will benefit from it. "It is couched in such a way that if someone is elected as Vice-President for instance and he becomes President for the reason of the removal from office of the President, either through ill health, impeachmentor death, he can only serve out the term of the President even if it is just one month. "He or she, as the case may be, will be ineligible to present himself for election as Presidentin subsequent elections; the same applies to the office of thegovernor and deputy governor." The source revealed further that the committee also recommended autonomy for local government administrations and if the recommendation scales through the legislative process, local government councils will collect their monthly allocations from the federation account. "There is a caveat. Only local government councils with elected council chairmen and properly constituted councils will receive such payments," thesource added. There is however fear that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and the Presidency will oppose these recommendations. Jonathan had in the past expressed his preference for a seven-year single tenure for elective officers. This he justified during his first media chat on assumption of office. 燞e had said, "The issue is that inAfrica, elections create social unrest and we need to manage this. In a situation where you elect a governor and that governor has not sat down, another election is around the corner. "Every four years you conduct elections, you create so much tension in the political environment. As we are talking, some people are busy holding meetings for the 2015 elections. "It creates series of confusion in the political environment. I am not saying that single tenure, alone, will bring one hundred per cent stability. "There is no political system that is one hundred per cent stable, you must have some tension. That was why I came up with that." The President had also on November 17, 2011 empanelledthe Justice Alfa Belgore-led committee, officially designated as Committee to Review Outstanding Issues from RecentConstitutional Conferences. The committee was mandated to identify gaps in the current constitution and propose amendments as adopted by previous constitutional conferences. The committee was, however, limited in scope as it was only required to making suggestions on issues adopted by consensus by the previous constitutional conferences. The Belgore panel did not delve into the issue of tenure as earlier proposed by the President. Public opinion weighed heavily against the item following fearsthat the President was interested in tenure elongation. When asked to confirm the Senate committee recommendation, the Clerk of the Senate Committee on Constitution Review, Mr. Innocent Mebiri, did not deny the development but said details would be made availableto the Senate at plenary. "Don't bother yourself, when it gets to the Senate at plenary, you will know whether it is trueor not," he told one of our correspondents. The report of the People's Public Sessions conducted on the constitution by the House ofRepresentatives indicated that Nigerians massively supported autonomy for local government councils. More than 90 per cent of votersin the 360 federal constituencies where the sessions were held supported abolition of State/Local Government Joint Account in order to grant financial independence to the councils. But, they opposed a single termof five, six or seven years for the President, state governors and other political office holders. Rather, they voted in support ofretaining the present two termsof four years each. The public sessions were held on November 10, 2012. The results of the sessions will be incorporated into bills on constitution amendment to be passed by the House. http://www.punchng.com/news/senate-proposes-six-year-single-term-for-president-govs/ |

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted strongly to the claim by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) that the PDP led government was dragging Nigeria back into a debt trap. The PDP said in a statement by Olisa Metuh, its National Publicity Secretary, that contrary to ACN’s allegations, “Nigeria is still one of the least indebted countries among comparative growing economies with a debt/GDP ratio of 17.45% as at 2011compared with countries such as Indonesia at 24.5%, South Africa at 35.6% and Ghana at 38.7%”. Mr. Metuh also said the approved external borrowing of $7.9bn dollars in the 2012 budget covers expenditure over a three year period ending in 2014 and it would be applied to specific projects including the Abuja Light Rail project, the Zungeru 700 MW Hydro Electric Power project, 200 Ultra Modern Bed Hospital in Yobe state, and the Erosion Watershed Management projects across the country amongst others. The PDP said that it is common practice even in the most advanced economies in the world to borrow funds to supplement the income generated for development projects. The party said the fact that Nigeria is found worthy of such credit facilities shows “the improved credit rating of the country that was non-existent only a few years ago”. Last week, the ACN decried the county’s rising debt profile, saying it negates everything the Federal Government said when it paid $12bn to get a debt relief in 2005. “It is shocking and saddening to learn that less than seven years after the much-celebrated debt relief, which supposedly wiped the country’s debt slate clean, Nigeria’s external debt has risen to $5.9bn and, when the domestic debt is added, it amounts to a whopping $44bn,” ACN’s National Publicity secretary, Lai Mohammed, said. The PDP however accused the opposition party of deceit, saying the ACN has no moral grounds to accuse the PDP-led Federal Government of indiscriminate borrowing even as the ACN controlled Lagos is also enmeshed in heavy debt. “It is deceitful For the ACN to question our debt profile when Lagos state is the most indebted state with an international debt profile of $491,847,295.53. This constitutes approximately 9% of the country’s total external debt profile. In addition Lagos state also has an internal debt of N100 billion in bonds,” the PDP said. The PDP also said it was hypocritical of the ACN to continuously accuse the PDP led government of sinking the country into further debt when their government is in fact the worst culprit. Meanwhile, the PDP has said the 12 years it has been in power was a blessing to Nigerian workers. Bamanga Tukur, the National Chairman of the Party, said so in his message to Nigerian workers who will join their counterparts nationwide to celebrate workers day on Tuesday, May 1. Mr. Tukur said the civil service reform, which the PDP-led Federal Government initiated and has been implementing, has achieved levels of successes in critical areas. The national chairman mentioned some of the areas in which the party had improved the lives of workers to include “the Monetisation of fringe benefits of workers, Contributory Pension scheme, Civil Service E-payment system, Right Sizing of the Service, Rationalisation and Restructuring of Ministries and Agencies of government as well as the establishment of SERVICOM to provide adequate feedback on service provision and the success of these reforms,” he said. Mr. Tukur added that “under the PDP, the nation now has the Freedom of Information Act to ginger vigilance and ease the investigative scrutiny of all Nigerians on the fidelity of service rendered to them.” The PDP, he added, will continue to take serious the issue of the welfare of workers and would remain committed to the success of the reforms intended to achieve a competent work force that could meet the challenges of the time. The party urged workers to “recall that since 1999, the Peoples Democratic Party has kept the issue of workers welfare high on its agenda and has in fact successfully affected wage increment twice in the last twelve years. We shall continue to be alive to our responsibilities to the Nigerian workers” http://premiumtimesng.com/politics/4886-pdp_lambasts_acn_over_debt_profile_allegation.html |
people does it worth going back into debt again after paying so much to clear the past debt under the supervision of the same minister who negotiated the debt relief in the first place. |
The Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, CNPP, has accused President Goodluck Jonathan of plunging Nigeria into debt despite the huge revenue realized from oil and gas, custom duties and taxation. The group, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Osita Okechukwu on Sunday, recalled that in 2006, it kicked against doling out a $12.4 billion to pay debt owed the Paris and London Clubs, but that the then Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who incidentally occupies the same position presently, said the country had come out of debt trap. CNPP lamented that only a few years after, the present administration is returning the country into debt trap despite the huge revenue it gets from various sources. “CNPP is outrage that President Goodluck Jonathan regime is rapidly rail-loading Nigeria back into debt trap in spite of the unprecedented oil and gas, Federal Inland Revenue Service FIRS tax, Customs Duty revenues, decked with Excess Crude Account,” the statement said. “When in 2006 Nigeria doled out $12.4 billion, which could have been used to provide electricity, to pay the odious Paris and London Clubs loan, though it rejected it, the Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said Nigeria was out of debt trap. “We pointed out that the loans she paid for were fraudulent loans obtained through corrupt and unjust methods by unconscionable civilian regime, military dictatorship, unconscionable in the sense that 75% of the 63 projects upon which the loans were borrowed failed.” “CNPP once more alerts the nation that instead of stemming the pervasive, endemic and monumental corruption going on in the administration, the same minister who promised that we are out of debt trap will with the present $9 billion loan approved by the National Assembly and the National Economic Council hit $20 billion external Debt and N6 trillion domestic Debt before the end of 2014. The group alleged Mrs Okonjo-Iweala’s economic policies may fit into the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund’s round peg, but not that of Nigeria, wondering why 70 percent of Nigerians still live below poverty level and Life Expectancy below 50 years despite the huge earnings. It said, “It is our considered view that Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala may be a round peg in World Bank and IMF round holes; but not in Nigeria’s economic square hole. “We posit that Dr Okonjo-Iweala’s economic policy of government has no business in business, premised on the private sector driver, and targeted on abstract percentage growth cannot succeed in a primitive economy like Nigeria. There cannot be growth without huge state investment in robust critical infrastructure, as 98% of the so called captains of industry have no factory. “Otherwise, how come a country which earns annually $20 billion in Oil and Gas revenue, 5 trillion from Federal Inland Revenue Service Tax revenue, over 1 trillion from Customs Duty and $10 billion Excess Crude Account; still record over 70% of her citizenry living below poverty level, over 30% illiterate, live expectancy below 50 years and gross unemployment dislocating families? “In sum, those who rail-load Nigeria into Debt Trap, instead of managing our resources prudently; must bear in mind that they are not positively projecting or promoting the health image of the country as a disciplined and organized nation to do business with. Hence Nigeria has no good reason to borrow and in fact should stop borrowing.” http://premiumtimesng.com/news/131752-cnpp-raises-alarm-over-nigerias-rising-debt-profile.html |

ModestSam: I think IQ testing shd be performed on many people before they are allowed to post anythiong on this site. Not that they don't know, they just chose not to follow the path of truth. That is common among Nigerians, they choose side at ease not minding whether it is wrong or right and it is because we don't operate one fact but sentiment. |
See all of them opening their mouth wide with their brain closed to proper reason predicting nonsense. From okupe to lai and fashakin has no respect 4 our nation, they just open their mouth and spit rubish as if we don't have power to determine what will happen in 2015. What if peaple say they are satisfy with pdp and revote them in 2015 or if peaple decided to ignore both of them and go 4 more respected and trusted individual in another party diffrent 4rm pdp and Apc. |

No doubt the 2011 election was the second fairest and best election Nigeria has ever had and we must give him kudos 4 that. Can we say that his second term election will be thesame? That is where the point is because in Nigeria's history second term election has always been our problem 4rm Tafawa Balewa to Shehun Sagari to Obasanjo and now Gej. This peaple usually get to the number one office with less input from themselve, but they alway want to continue by their own power in their second term. So let us keep our fingers crossed and watch his electoral integrity in 2015. |
