Hello Elders, I plan driving to London from the North East for the passport renewal of my wife and 3 kids.

We intend going a day before the appointment and then lodge at an hotel or airbnb. To avoid all the ulez, red zones, blue zones issues around central London(I drive a 2013 Citroën c4 hatchback), I'm thinking we should look for where to lodge in the outskirts of London. We can then get a bus or train early morning on the day of the appointment to the high commission. We also want the kids to visit one or two fun places in London before we return to our North. 😀

Elders, that have done this in the past, what's my best bet and which areas of London can we get an affordable accommodation for one night. Thanks as always.

Have you tried the option of using night bus(coach) and arriving London say 8am. Use the public transport to visit fun places and book return ticket for bus. Just thinking
If driving, u can consider visiting Thorpe park. Just check their site to see if such environment is for u

The thing is mathematics can be very funny. We are just talking based on assumptions and not hard data.

Until someone sits down, with all things being equal, and give both parties. (Party A - an immigrant renting a house) (Party B - an immigrant who is owning a house with 5% down payment)

Lets assume party A rents for 5 years and he saved up about 20% down payment for a mortage of 20years on a house of 200k

Lets assume Party B has always owned a house on mortgage with a down payment of 5% for a house of 200k for 20 years.

I dont know who would have saved more money. I wish there was hard data we can work with to see which is better, to save up enough deposit for a mortage while still paying rent. Or just go into the mortgage market from the on set even if we have only 5% deposit

I understand your point but one can’t have all information to make a good decision at all times. There is always an uncontrollable variable(foreseeable risk out of your control) involved in serious decision making.

For years now in the Sunday School manual there is always a topic that borders on "Participation of Christian in governance" (May not be the exact topic or title but there is always a Sunday dedicated to that theme)

The objective of that department was borne out of the goal of all these Sunday school discussions and which is to encourage more members and christians generally to be more actively involved in the political process. The objective has never been to support any particular individual. During registration and collection of PVC for example, in my own parish, the area pastor always give an ample time every Sunday after his sermon to remind us to play our own role. During announcement, a minister in my parish always announced this and encourage us to go get our PVCs. At a point we were all asked to bring it to church the following Sunday so we can wave it to God, just to see that we do the needful.

If you do not know something, you can find out instead of spewing lies out of ignorance.

From there, I can upskill and pivot into a better role like their IT Team or AML (after taking the cert) which pays significantly better than whatever care has to offer in this life or next

SOS! SOS! I am in a very big dilemma, I am trying to switch from student visa to scale up visa. I have the COS but whenever I enter the COS number, it says I should enter a valid COS number and won’t let me proceed any further. I then proceeded to click on apply without COS and then fill out the form. Can I use the apply without COS number and then upload the COS as part of supporting documents? Is this a safe way to go about it? I can’t risk a refusal and I have very few days left on my brp

Also, lets assume you have been to uk, ger, dubai, fra, belgium, and now you have a fresh passport, and you are traveling from nigeria to uk, do you mean

1) uk immigration can only see that you have been to uk in the past

Or

2) uk immigration can only see that you have been to uk and other shengen listed above but not dubai

Or

3) uk immigration can see all of the countries you have been to before

They can have access to verify all if interested.
It doesn’t take much as these embassies share info with another.

Please can this be enough to serve as a down payment for a bungalow where we can spread the balance over the years in a mortgage plan.

Do not use brother and family stuff to enter this one.
Be sure there is a clear document that addresses ownership, maintenance and dissolution( if issues arises).
Issues will definitely come up cos e get as UK dey make family strong face for themselves o.
