Hi Team,

Please I'm trying to make an application for a skilled worker's visa however when it comes to selecting the occupational code/job role, it's showing "No results found" and it is currently listed on the Skilled Worker visa: eligible occupations and codes.

I contacted the home office via phone and the lady I spoke to couldn't be off much help: she said something along the lines of "Using another related code for the job role and explaining it in a note at the end of my application".

I also sent a mail to "applyonlinee-support@homeoffice.gov.uk" who couldn't be of much help by telling me "There is currently no reported problems with our online services".

I have sent an email to the HR of the company who issued the CoS explaining the situation.

Please what other ways can I tackle this issue? I need help oh abeg.

Your CoS should have the code on it. Not sure if you are referring to a different code.

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much to everyone who offered advice in December! Your help was invaluable in getting my Certificate of Sponsorship (COS) from my line manager in mid-January.

Moving forward, I have some questions about proof of English for my Skilled Worker Visa application as a software developer. While I've requested a letter of English proficiency from my university, I'm concerned about the turnaround time. Additionally, I haven't been able to find any upcoming IELTS UKVI test dates near me.

With that in mind, I have two questions:

1. Can I use the IELTS UKVI Academic test to meet the English language requirement for my Skilled Worker Visa application?
2. Are there any alternative English language tests accepted for Skilled Worker Visa applications that might have shorter waiting times for appointments?

Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Wch university?

I have someone in this same situation. She applied for Graduate visa on Monday, and got COS the next day. So she's applying for Tier-2 now. All she has to do after applying for Tier-2 is to cancel her Graduate visa application, right?

Age old argument that won't ever be agreed on.

From my experience, I can tell you with my chest that for a Nigerian Immigrant, First time buyer; New Build is way better if you can afford it. They're not very cheap in some locations, but boy are they worth it! I always intended to write a comparison but it would look too biased because the pros of New Builds will look so long!
I agree with you 💯. I have been doing some analysis lately and the info favours new build like u described. For an investor, old build all the way.

New build vs Old build?
Which is better from a first time buyer and not investor perspective

Does structure fall from the sky?

Most Nigerians must learn to be forthright.

Corruption at base level is just as bad as at the elite level.

Yes, but it has limits.

If she continues, she would likely work with Total or Chevron which isn't bad in itself.

However, her talents might be better suited to research in areas the country does not engage in.

Note:

Nigeria's problem is caused by the collective of the entire population.

The day we remove our mind from the last statement, Nigeria will move forward. Establishment of functional structures and holding pple accountable has no substitute. But what do I know, let’s continue this collective population notion.

Please what happens next after someone has spent 5 years on a work visa. At what point would the person be able to apply for ILR. Is it after the end date of the COS. Does the person need another visa extension to be able to apply for ILR?
Check the email notification from HO with respect to your last cos application. It is documented there.

This means you failed to read my initial premise undecided

The guy in question left school after 1 year to switch to care worker COS. He did not finish or even attempt to apply for jobs in the chosen career area before switching. If it were a course like Intl Business and the like, its very understandable

No one said not to switch to healthcare sponsorship if time is running out; not even attempting is what baffled me

His life, his choices at the end of the day

People will choose what they want depending on their risk appetite and how they perceive their strengths, ability to hold out / delayed gratification etc

Drug dealers, Yahoo boys etc pay tithes and "gift" Pastors stuff to be in their good books

Could also be drugs but I think he would have been caught since if it was drugs

I suspect money laundering + tithes wink

Learnt from watching YouTube video or from seeing someone getting it done directly?

I get frustrated when my mechanics get to tax me all over again after taxing the parts used to repair the car, like for instance I get taxed for buying a particular part bought by my mechanic which has already been taxed by the seller and my mechanic will also tax it again when summing up, really crazy.

I saved a lot during my last mot by buying part my self directly from eBay.

Was seeing 77£ on eBay and 180£ from offline shops really crazy difference.

Took my car to a service centre that does interim checks while also recommending some actions or repairs that needs done, from there I gathered the list of parts I also felt needed and I bought them all from eBay, (make sure you ask the seller to check the exact type for you and also do you research very well also).

Spent 270£ on parts which would have been around over 550£ of bought from offline store.

NB: Don’t make a mistake of putting wrong fuel in your car oh, lol cost me I think 150£ (still have the receipt) and I still loose another 90£ worth of fuel after listening to a bad advice of putting more fuel. Initially bought petrol of 25£ and upon knowing, was advised by someone to add extra diesel to mix it, I bought extra 70£ worth of the supreme grade diesel. On my way home problem start. (Was that time when diesel was almost 1.9£/liter). Struggled to get it home. Can’t afford to pay for another towing vehicle.
Wahala wahala wahala
YouTube video got me plus I have been a friend to my mechanic back in Naija. Na only engine and gear I no fit touch. Other simple stuff, I got them.

Wetin next wey I wan leant na how to change my engine oil and break pads,

Told my mechanic say I wan do apprentice the guy no gree oh, say I wan Dey learn work, he said no.

I did interim service. when I saw the receipt(#140), I smiled. Labour and tax na like 90. I just told myself, DIY starts this year.
na transmission fluid change i take start. used the labour and parts money to buy tools. Fully ready for DIY.
They will only see me for major repairs.

I do self service for £2 at the gas station. Depending on location and space, one should be able to wash at home.

Just like in Nigeria but in the UK, having a link is the fastest way to get a job. Seen it several times in places I have worked. Some companies even encourage it, to reduce recruitment cost.

Hello Elders, I plan driving to London from the North East for the passport renewal of my wife and 3 kids.

We intend going a day before the appointment and then lodge at an hotel or airbnb. To avoid all the ulez, red zones, blue zones issues around central London(I drive a 2013 Citroën c4 hatchback), I'm thinking we should look for where to lodge in the outskirts of London. We can then get a bus or train early morning on the day of the appointment to the high commission. We also want the kids to visit one or two fun places in London before we return to our North. 😀

Elders, that have done this in the past, what's my best bet and which areas of London can we get an affordable accommodation for one night. Thanks as always.
Have you tried the option of using night bus(coach) and arriving London say 8am. Use the public transport to visit fun places and book return ticket for bus. Just thinking
If driving, u can consider visiting Thorpe park. Just check their site to see if such environment is for u
