Just thought it wise and necessary to draw our attention to the on-going Push-CV recruitment/selection/elite programe quest.

Firstly, I must admit that I am the kind person who always critically look at situations, no matter who is involved. Even if the said situation involves my own pastor in the church, I dont just take it in hook, line, and sinker, without firstly examining it critically and objectively, in order to decipher the merits or otherwise.

Now when the Push-CV elite program advert was making the rounds on almost every social platform I came accross, by intuition, I initially had my doubts about the credibility of the program ( is there really any free launch in this part of the world? What is more, the adverts where comparable to that on the dreaded ebola virus). But then, I as always, relunctantly gave in to preasure from reasons and peers, and applied.

To make it short, I have since passed the initial stage (I believe it so, atleast for now) and proceeded to the second stage where you need to key in your educational information and the likes.

My attention was particularly drawn to the part where I was suppose to upload a CV. There were two options for this category: upload already created CV (recommended for professionals), and order a CV from us (conveniently recommended for the large army of students, Pre-NYSC, Post NYSC). Out of curiosity, I clicked on the second option just to be sure that I understood what they meant by the word "order." You already know the rest.

Now, that is the first part where I am joining issues with those behind this program. Come to think of how they took their time to give very compelling reasons why you should order a CV from them, got me thinking. Wouldnt it have been ideal if they gave tips (to those who for one reason or the other can not draft a good CV) on how best to prepare a good CV, rather than just cook a CV for a candidate?

Since its a program designed to make an unemployed person employable, how is this going to be possible if one (those who cant draft a good CV) doesnt even know the very fundamentals of a good CV drafting?

May be I am being unnecesarilly antagonistic here, but I still think it wont cost us a dime to punder on these few critical points befor going to pay a thousand naira to anyone.

I'm a pre-NYSC going by may, the CV I used to get my current job was downloaded for free on the internet(dont know the website though) but there are thousands of free cv's online. Some have been prepared already , just change the name and contact info. Use Google bro.

The fact that top organizations use cms Frameworks doesn't make it a good idea. Most of this companies put up those websites in a haste. They weren't patient enough, this is why they had to settle for less. They have no knowledge of how much power and control coding from scratch gives you.

Even nysc knows that not all registered members have their information inputted correctly thus is why you will still have the option to update your info when you get to camp. So don't need to worry,as long as you have printed out your green card and you have your call up number, you're good to go.

Using PHP 5.4.26, pdo_pgsql with libpg 9.2.8 (self compiled). As usual PHP never explains some critical stuff in documentation. You shouldn't expect that your connection is closed when you set $dbh = null unless all you do is just instantiating PDO class. Try following:

What teh heck you say at this point? Still same? Here is what you need to do to close that connection:

PDO is just one of a kind because it saves you to depend on 3rd party abstraction layers. But it becomes annoying to see there is no implementation of a "disconnect" method even though there is a request for it for 2 years. Developers underestimate the requirement of such a method. First of all, doing $stmt = null everywhere is annoying and what is most annoying is you cannot forcibly disconnect even when you set $pdo = null. It might get cleared on script's termination but this is not always possible because script termination may delayed due to slow client connection etc.

Anyway here is how to disconnect forcibly using postgresql:

However, I've heard it before that there is a way to download your desired website and modify the contents. Let's say a Client asks you to design a site similar to bbc. com, can you download the site and change the contents, and maybe colours so as to save yourself the stress of trying to create the site from the scratch? If yes, which software or tool can one use to achieve that, and what are the procedures?

First thing you can do is to copy the layout. Use pencil to draw like grids. Then you can fix other components (sliders, banners, etc) in the grids and design.
If you really want to clone the entire site (though it's a bad Idea) and like the first commenter said ;it will make you a bad designer. Google a software named "httrack" that will do the job for you.
And you can also search Google for website templates. You will definitely find thousands that you like.
