Congratulations. I also got my visa approved by the White Man, around 12pm at the Abuja Embassy today. So happy - all thanks to God. After collecting the white paper I just went home, was I suppose to do anything after that?

Visa Approved
US Embassy Abuja
14/12/2020

PhD (Full funding)

VO: Greetings

Me: Greetings

VO: (checks my documents i.e I-20, Sevis, DS-160, etc.) What are you going to do in the US?

Me: I'm going to Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago for a doctoral degree. I'll be focusing on the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence on ultra-reliable low latency wireless communication networks.

VO: (nods, showing interest) What do you know about artificial intelligence?

Me: It is the modelling/training (not sure of which one I used) of a computer or machine to think intelligently like humans, making decisions, knowing what to do and what not to do, without any human/manual support.

VO: (looked satisfied) Have you worked on this (artificial intelligence) before?

Me: Yes, I have worked on DeepFaceMatch, using deep convolution networks for attendance management, as well as machine learning model for modulation scheme recognition in a communication system.

VO: Who will you be working with?

Me: Professor XYZ

VO: (types for a while) what will this degree do for you?

Me: I currently work in XYZ University, and this degree will position me well for a full research career ... bla bla bla. Personally I wish to contribute to the SDG 11.9 (disaster risk reduction) ... bla bla bla, as well as to give back both to the academia and society.

VO: Do you have friends or families in the US?

Me: No, I don't have friends.

VO: How about family?

Me: Yes, I have a cousin in Maryland.

VO: What does he do?

Me: I don't know, it's been long we spoke.

VO: I'll be approving your visa (watching him take the white paper and was so happy).

Me: Thank you, ........

Hi guys, today is the happiest day of my life since boko haram killed my lieutenant immediate brother died in November 2017. I have a whole lot of scars from life’s battles.

Visa approved
Deficit; $18,777
ICS and Room Waiver; $5,000
Location; Abuja.

My appointment was for 7:30 but I got there at 6am. They did the routine documents verification and biometrics. We were all marched to the interview location. Two VO’s, a black man in his 40s and the other white guy in his early 40s I guess. Was praying in my mind, God please I don’t want to face this black man, him face too strong. so my God and destiny ushered me to the white guy.

VO; good morning
Me; good morning, I’ll like to let you know that I stammer before we proceed
VO; oh! That’s fine, I also take a lot of time
Me; smiled, praying my village people don’t finish me with stammering cuz I was so nervous
VO; pass me your documents
Me; passed my passport, I-20 and ds-160 confirmation
VO; what are you going to do in the US
Me; I’m going to western Illinois University in the rural community of Macomb to pursue a masters of science degree in biology. He pretended he wasn’t listening, so I followed my instinct and continue talking. I’m going to focus on animal behavior
VO; focus on what?
Me; Animal behavior. It’s a branch in biology.
VO; wow that’s nice, why animal behavior?
Me; I’m passionate about animals and I always want to be involved in whatever have to do with caring and protecting animals. I’ve been to the National park here and also at the University of Ibadan zoo, there’s no single animal behaviorist and this is why I want to do this so I’m hoping to come back to my country and help conserve and protect our fast depleting natural resources and help protect our most vulnerable and endangered species for present and future generation.
VO; nods his head and ask, what does your dad do?
Me; he’s a retired soldier. Retired as a major in 2014
VO; what does he do now?
Me; He’s into grassroots politics
VO; what about your mom?
Me; she’s a business woman, she sells and transport kolanut all over the country
VO; coconut?
Me; kolanut
VO; oh! Yes I know kolanut , who’s sponsoring you?
Me; my aunty
VO; what does she do?
Me; she import and distribute top quality building materials and roofing sheets, she’s also into real estate
VO, types for about 20 seconds and said to me, you don’t sound like you stammer but you talk pretty fast
Me; I smiled like Sallah Ram and was saying to myself, God abeg! God abeg, make this man keep my passport, I no need am today
VO, stretches his hand to the most beautiful white paper I ever seen in my 31 years on earth and told me to enjoy my stay in the US.

My observation, these guys are human being like us and very friendly. I really do not know why people put fear on other people’s body and give all sort of scary feedbacks after their interview. Please guys, just be calm and make sure you prepare well for all the possible questions. If God can do it for me, then I’m sure you’re the next person to give testimony. I made a promise to myself to post the white paper for people to see if I get the visa and I’ll do it. I hope this transcripts has motivated someone to go confidently and grab his/her own visa. May God bless and protect us all. Peace

Congratulations. I also got my visa approved by the White Man, around 12pm at the Abuja Embassy today. So happy - all thanks to God. After collecting the white paper I just went home, was I suppose to do anything after that?

Hi guys. This may seem like a redundant question but I guess that one should always use the latest I-20, right? I'm asking cos the I-20 that I got a few weeks ago had my total funding equal to total cost of attendance. Now the updated I-20 has funding that is $5K above total cost of attendance. Total cost is 75K per year and total funding 80K per year. Is that possible? I did not get any info on extras. Just wondering on the consequence of having funding on I-20 that doesn't match the award letter.

You can write them an email to call their attention to it. If they have their reasons, they will clarify or correct it.

I want to choose abuja...the first one was Lagos

You can choose Abuja and apply for expedited. Have you attended any interview recently? Also, ensure you have your I-20, SEVIS receipt and be within 60 days of your start date?

Which location did you choose for your appointment using your new MRV?

Hey,
I already scheduled abuja with my first MRV fee, the question now is since I already paid for another MRV fee can I create a new profile with that and schedule an emergency appointment for lagos then if that get denied again I would still have my abuja appointment has backup. Can this be done?

I had once asked the U.S embassy in Lagos this same question, and I was told that creating a different account will cause conflict, that is, passport information duplicate error.

Hello , Pls help a brother. How do I change to Abuja from Lagos. This is the status of my page.

Im also having below message on my page.

If you cancel this appointment, then you will have exceeded the limit of appointments canceled, and will not be able to schedule another appointment until another MRV fee has been paid.

If you already booked an appointment in Lagos and you want to change to Abuja, you will need to pay another MRV fee.

Yes, I was in 60 days to the start of your program. Program start date is 28 Dec. I waited for 4days after sevis fee was confirmed before applying. Uploaded all necessary documents also. The denied mail has no reason stated.

The program start date for Spring is usually January, please check your I-20.. It's possible December is the earliest admission date, that is, the earliest you are allowed to enter the US.

Hello all, Visa interview appointment date is April 2021 but school start date is January 2021. Called/emailed to have an emergency/expedited interview date but denied. Asking me to pay another MRV fee. Please all, what can I do?

What is the start date on your I-20? If currently you are within 60days to the start date or not and you have been denied emergency appointment, you may wait a little while to see if early dates will be opened between now and next week, if not, you can then proceed to pay another MRV fee, and apply for another emergency appointment. However, if I may ask, did you apply with your I-20 and SEVIS fee receipt, or what reason did they give or what do you perceive must have caused the denial? So many people are in this situation, and many have called the embassy. I believe they know about the situation and should open more slots anytime soon.

Reasons not stated

I called the support line, the lady said she won't like to give me false hope that there are 100s of appointments, that I should just be vigilant. Incase anybody cancel his/her appointment.

My prayer too, release new dates before January

Sorry, I don't get what you mean by there are 100s of appointments. Do you mean there are still 100s of available slots yet to be released, so we can keep our hopes high?

What is the next thing to do now, because I don't know. Just here ooo

Let's keep checking the calendar on the dashboard to see if they'd release some new dates in November / December. Alternative option is to pay another Visa application fee sad
Did you attach your I-20 and SEVIS fee receipt when you applied for the emergency appointment? Also, are you within the 60 days of resumption? What reason did they give for your denial, or what do you feel? We are going to get a date soon. Let's just be prayerful, hopeful and be on the lookout. If you have anyone you can call too, do that.

I wish everyone going for interview tomorrow an open door of favor, a door no man can shut!

I appreciate everyone who has shared their transcript both approval and denial, and everyone who is always here to attend to questions in different shades and manner. All those efforts really help many people. Many who will not even come here to share. So I see it as a debt if I failed to share and contribute my own quota.

I started following this trend properly in May when a got admitted with fully funding for fall, and I had to follow through those arguments of embassy opening before August and all. I didn't defer my admission in faith of the embassy opening until my GPC mailed me to do so. I eventually have no option but to defer to Spring as he told me even if as got a visa mid of August it is going to be late already.

Fast Forward...
Amidst of a lot of heartache and headache, I got a date through the email method

Visa Approved
6th November 2020
Lagos Consulate
9AM batch

Profile:
GRE 311
Duolingo 110
First Class
ELect/Elect
Going for Master fully funded.

Got there around 6:20am, so it was a long wait but I keep confessing scriptures Rev 3:8 and Ps 102:13. I had little or no tension.
After the initial Biometrics...getting to the VO

VO: Put you first 4 right fingers there...Me: I did, and greeted, Good morning sir VO: Good morning just a moment take off you nose mask, just a moment...I did

VO: Where are you going?
Me: I am going to Norfolk State University for my masters in Electronics Engineering at Norfolk, Virginia. (I stopped for like a second, then I remember I have not finished my script play, I continued wink) with my research focus on Bioinstrumentation and Control Systems.

VO: Which state is that?(May he thought I will say Norfolk State)
Me: Virginia

VOsadSound impressed) Virginia...!! Do you have an undergraduate degree?
Me: Yes, I studied Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University

VO: Electronic and Electrical Engineering, why you want to continue
Me: (blanked headed, I said ) I am passionate

VO: Passionate!!! When did you graduate?
Me: August 2017

VO: What have you been doing?
Me: I graduate August 2017, I was mobilized for youth service in 2018, finished in 2019 and I have been working as a researcher at Covenant University, researching in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.

VO: Who is sponsoring you?
Me: I got a graduate assistanship which covers my tuition and living expenses, I will be working with Prof. XYZ on a research titled Nobel Labelfree Optical Imaging for Early Breast Cancer Detection

At this point I realized, I got the visa, he is already marking the yellow slip and picking the white paper

VO: Are you married?
Me: No

VO: Do you have children?
Me: No sir

VO: I will be approving you visa, go to window... Me(cut) Thank you VO: (Saw my excitement) continued...!

I was already taking off my nose mask before I remembered I am still in the consulate I had to compose myself to go pay my reciprocity fee, I was greeting my others as they come behind me to pay too, like 3 girls we had waited together outside for hours. There a many approvals like 80% than denial.

Thanks to Schrodinger for mock interview. Please take more mock interview than reading or self practicing. Also do mock interview for others.

Goodluck to everyone, I hope I will come here occasionally to answer question like many have been doing, I hope this will not be my last time here cheesy

Impressive! Thank God
Congratulations once again

You can only request for one emergency on a single MRV and cancel appointment once , second cancellation will lead to payment for another MRV.
You can reschedule to Abuja but can’t request emergency again.

Wow. But is it possible for someone to create another account with another email to fill the DS-160 and pay another MRV fee to get emergency slot for Abuja. Can that work?

Congrats to you. You pursued the dream till you succeeded. I too will testify

Seems only people with full funding are sharing visa approval transcripts.
I don't have full funding not even half full so I get excited and nervous reading visa transcripts approved with full fundings seems that's a norm here nw.

I have a good statement from my sponsor, I pray that would suffice. Lord let your favour grace and goodness go with me on the 20th if November, I pray in Jesus name!

Amen, God's grace will speak for you and the rest of us. Please are you having your interview in Lagos or Abuja, and is it emergency application you did? Some of us are yet to get dates and our resumption date is in some weeks time. The dates we got are April 2021, which is very far for anyone resuming for Spring.
