The Vice-Chancellor explained that the University gives equal opportunity to all its admission seekers. “There is equal opportunity for all students from every state of the federation and we have been adjudged as the most compliant university by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB)”, he said. “Take for example, our admission quota for the medical school is 150. It means we cannot accept more than four students from each state of the federation including the FCT. This is why you have students who meet the cut-off requirements but still don't get admitted”, the Vice-Chancellor explained. Prof. Ambali, however, disclosed that only about 7,800 applicants out of the 65,000 that sat for this year's post-UTME screening of the University would be admitted. He said that the management had complained over this low admission quota to the Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB) through the National Universities Commission (NUC). "The management of the University had written a letter to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) through the National Universities Commission (NUC) over the matter with a view to looking into it so that the allocation could be increased in subsequent years," he said .Prof. Ambali said that the University expected a higher allocation of admission slots with the present developments in the institution, adding that it now has more facilities, more academic programmes, and more staff. While speaking on the reason for conducting UTME for a total number of 65,000 candidates, knowing full well that the University could only admit 7,800, the Vice-Chancellor said that it was borne out of the quest to have the best students admitted out of the whole lot. Professor Ambali, who said that academic stability is the highest selling point of the university, added that the institution had been able to set sustainable standard that had now been the envy of all universities in the country. |
I love this article The rise and fall of Bukola Saraki...... Saraki left the PDP for personal reasons......not because he wanted CHANGE. This is evident in his behaviour since APC became victorious. APC trusted Saraki, jilted Belgore just to please Saraki. APC asked both Belgore and Lai Mohammed to relinquish the state leadership to Saraki. While Lai choicelessly agreed, Belgore left APC because 'I can never be in the same party with Saraki talkless of him leading me'.....Raji Fashola spoke and appealed to his bosom friend Belgore not to leave APC but the latter sought Fashola's understanding on the fact that Saraki is not a human being and that APC will regret having Saraki in its fold. APC openly celebrated Saraki. Saraki nominated every single political appointments in Kwara......he took over the structure of the APC in Kwara. APC narrowly won Kwara with just over 100k votes above the PDP. Race for Senate Leadership began. This slot would have naturally gone to the SE had Ngige or other experienced APC senatorial candidate won but APC NASS conflict's foundation was laid by the rejection of the party in the SE! Therefore, 3 major lucky contenders were jostling for the Senate President position......Lawan from NE, Saraki and Akume from NS all wanted to fill the vacuum created by the SE. Buhari and APC preferred Lawan from the NE instead of Tinubu's friend Akume and Atiku's choice Saraki. Tinubu being a smart man quickly asked his friend Akume to step down for the Party's and President's choice Lawan. Akume, another reasonable politician agreed! Tinubu is not just a driver, he also know when to accelerate and when to march the brake!!!!!!! Atiku and Saraki kept on accelerating even when it was obvious that the duo have approached the zebra crossing!!!! A warrior that knows how to fight that does not know how to run when necessary will eventually perish in the battlefield! Saraki and his pushers became arrogant and resolute to disgrace the APC and the President .... All appeals by leaders of their party did not hold water. Saraki said he wanted due process......therefore, the party organized a primary election to please him......Saraki lost the election |
SOMEONE WROTE THIS-----Spoke My Mind. I think you should read it also.__ .******"A lot of people who constantly go on about wanting a perfect husband or wife are quite miserable when they do get married because they want something that is just not possible; they want the kind of person that just doesn't exist. As long as you want to marry someone who has flesh and blood, you must accept that person as limited, flawed, and error prone! They will have to accept this same truth about you too! Please know that you will have to give your future spouse room to be imperfect; it will relieve you of so much stress and frustrations. It doesn't mean issues should not be addressed and dealt with; but even when you have to do this, be respectful with each other. It doesn't mean you should be walked all over. It doesn't mean that he or she should not work on improving themselves, particularly if it is damaging your relationship. But it means that you acknowledge your own imperfections and weaknesses too! My point is that don't expect perfection! They may be working towards perfection; aren't we all? They may be genuinely trying their best to say and do things the right way, but they will sometimes make mistakes, even the best husbands and wives do, and that's ok. You will too. I will too. That's all a part of marriage. What determines our experience is our perspective and our perspective determines how we handle each other! In fact, I'll say this - if you are in a relationship now and the person is just perfect, they don't offend, they don't do some things that irritate you, if you claim to love EVERYTHING about the person, take it from me- it's all fake!! It's not a sin to want them to improve on some areas, it's not a sin to acknowledge their weaknesses. So stop looking for a perfect spouse. If you want perfect, then maybe get a pet. In fact, a pet will still offend you. Or maybe just have a good looking statue; that one too may annoy you. LOL. As I said, if you want flesh and blood, you must accept them as they are and work together to bring out the best in your relationship. That's the best way you can experience the true beauty of marriage" - Excerpt from a Courtship Foundation Class taught by Kemi Oyedepo |

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a pastor, Abraham Sunday, for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl, Kike (pseudonym) in Adalemo Estate, in the Toll Gate area, on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway. PUNCH Metro learnt that Sunday, the pastor of Christ In All Nations Church in Adalemo, was arrested by the Ojokoro Police Division last Wednesday, September 2, from where he was taken to the Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba. It was gathered that Kike, who was ill, had been taken by the pastor to a house in Adalemo Estate on August 28 for deliverance prayer when the incident occured. It was learnt that the victim’s mother, who said Sunday was a family friend, became apprehensive after she did not hear from her daughter. The matter was said to have been reported to the police by the landlord of the house where Sunday allegedly camped the teenager to rape her. A police source told our correspondent that after Kike was rescued, she was taken to a hospital, where a medical test confirmed that she had been raped. The pastor was thereafter arrested. He said, “The pastor was like a foster father to the girl. She was ill and had gone to a hospital in the area. While returning from the hospital, she boarded the same bus with the pastor, who said he would take her to a place for prayers. “Since the suspect was a family friend, she did not doubt him. So, they went to the pastor’s apartment, where he camped and raped her for three days. The victim’s mother did not even know about the deliverance prayer. “On Monday, the landlord and some neighbours got suspicious of the pastor’s arrangement with the teenager and they alerted a non- governmental organisation in the area, which in turn invited the police. The girl was rescued and rushed to a hospital, where a medical test confirmed rape. The suspect was arrested immediately.” Kike and her mother were thereafter referred to the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. The DSVRT Coordinator, Lola Viviour-Adeniyi, said, “It was an NGO, Rubies Ink, that brought the matter to our attention. The girl was taken away for prayer. She was in the pastor’s house at the Adalemo area for three days, and during that period, he raped her.The DSVRT reached out to the victim’s mother, but she maintained that she would not pursue any case. While admitting that the pastor defiled her daughter, the mother said the pastor had a three-month-old baby, and she did not want him to be jailed. |
