Olodostein:

Well the Japanese lost at the end and was devastated. They have never recovered since and adheres to a PACIFIST constitution. Because the US unleashed their full military might on them and introduced full conscription. And finally silenced japan till this day by NUKING THEM.

America unleashes her military hardware: The latest were the stealth supersonic fighter jet and reconnaissance plane . The Russians just introduced a sophisticated ICBM(Intercontinental ballistic missile); the Iranians did with their ground to surface long range missile. Even the Israelis did the same with their God's chariot.

Cmon, the clear message from these powers is: Don't phucking try us just like that( Balance of power in a sense).  It is also a military strategy. Ask Sun Tzu .

Fine, so I am sure you are more than capable of stopping Boko Haram from slaying innocent civilians in places of worship in the future. I wish you luck in your endeavours.

Everybody is tired but the northern and western fuel subsidy parasites want to stay in one nigeria.

Logic Mind, I hear you, but we all know that Boko Haram will strike again this week, and next week and next month, and the month after that. I particularly don't believe in chatting too much, I ACT.

Picture this: When the Japanese Airforce/Military completely devastated and destroyed the U.S. Pacific Fleet in Hawaii as a precursor to the U.S. being drawn into the War, they were totally successful with very few casualties. In fact the U.S. Military were completely taken by surprise.

The Japanese followed a Confucius principle that advocates the best way to fight a War with an opponent is when an opponent is defeated before he can fight back. This idea encorporates ideas of Pre emptive War and War by Stealth.

Can you imagine black (African) people doing this? We would rather beat our chests down and make as much noise possible publicly rather than achieve the objective efficiently.

If we are all tired of the Status Quo, then we have to change it, and this has to be done by taking several steps to attaining the ultimate goal.

Exactly my point, this fatal conceit we have about being in control is misplaced. We are all still pawns of Foreign Powers. If we are serious about getting out of this mess we have to realize that their are different ways to skin a cat.

If I'm chatting a load of rubbish, why don't the haters amongst us just walk away and form their own country, its just that simple instead of bragging on NL.

So we are all on NL bragging, when the real fact is none of our leaders put us in Nigeria, they were all illiterates that signed pieces of paper and gave the Sovereignty of Ruling their lands to a Foreign Company.

It is Oyinbo's that put us all in Nigeria

1. We need to facilitate a U.N. Sponsored referendum in relation to separation.

2. The formation of the New Secular State must be established along with the implementation of checks and balances in the System to act against the concentration of Power, State corruption and to promote the enshrinement of Civil Liberties.

3. All Public officials, Members of the Judiciary, Armed Forces, Police, Customs etc, must be purged of corrupt practices and general corruption within the newly formed Secular State.

4. Bureaucratic sabotage, (Official Go Slow) must be eradicated within the newly formed Secular State.

5. There should be a notable economic shift within the newly formed Secular State, from distribution and consumption, to production.

6. Freedom of Information should be an entitlement and the Freedom of the Press (along with duties and obligations that accompany such Freedoms) should be enshrined.

7. The aim of the the newly formed Secular State is to revisit the pre-independence negotiations pertaining to the practice of Fedaralism by the different constituent groups that make up the Fedaration. They should be encouraged to develop their raw and natural resources and thus contribute a fair percentage of their profits to the Central Government. In other word, devolution will be the natural order of the State.

8. Last and not the least (this is personal), within the newly formed Secular State we should aim for a strong currency in order to eradicate poverty. A fair days work should result in a fair days pay. There is no justification for Africans having to work for Years in order to get the salary of what a Westerner gets in a week. This is economic slavery.

We as Africans should be able to create our own Utopia. We can achieve this. We can do miles better than the Status Quo.

Irrelevant.

That is the starting point. You can either have a Sharia Practicing State or a Secular one, you cannot sit on the fence and compromise or corrupt our Secular State.

our diversity isnt the weakling, its our gullibility. we allow our religious and political rulers to use our emotions and beliefs as it serves their purpose. ive never heard a fight between our looters in govt on religious/ethnic grounds. they smile and pat each other on the back and laugh at us.

meanwhile pastor joe and imam abu together with minister olu are constantly telling us we are the problem.

By facilitating a U.N. Sponsored referendum. Stop trying to scare people.

@First bolded,

Yes, yes and yes! That is why I would plead with you to NEVER leave Nairaland, though it has saboteurs as you rightly pointed out. Here is a meeting of Nigerians, and whatever we want in Nigeria can be initialized here.
Beaf also shares in your views, though you may not know it. He has, on countless occasion, advocated the same thing. The fuel subsidy fracas is masking a lot of other more urgent issues. That is why I don't support all these protests around it. People are being butchered in Nigeria daily, and so, I can't find time for that (whether I agree with it or not). The journey of a thousand miles begins with ONE step. We shall get there, provided we stay the course.
Post more on that idea and don't worry when flak flies around you. Most of the attackers haven't actually thought about the problem. And yes some of them are kids. So, ignore them.

@Second bolded

Ignore Alj_harem too. He is an embedded Northern interest here bent on retaining the dysfunctional system that keeps him and his group on top of the food chain. Provided no one upturns that, he is a very happy ONE NIGERIAN. That is Alj_harem summarized. History however teaches us that the status quo cannot be allowed to continue. It is either they accept a fundamental change, or they ship out of Nigeria. cool

I hear you bro, I hear you.

@First bolded

My brother, I don't think it is too late for a UN sponsored resolution. Even sef methinks that it may be too early. I know how the UN works. If there is no war, or a clear incipience of war, they don't usually take on such resolution.
They can also take it on if there is a STRONG demand by the local groups. Neither has happened yet, but I believe it will happen because I honestly don't see Nigeria surmounting this crisis of "born to rule" mentality by the North.
To me, that is really the only issue/problem with Nigeria.

@Second bolded

Very welcome.  cool

I hear you bro, they say 'Patience is a Virtue', and I respectfully heed your words. However, on the contrary, methinks that the groundwork has to be started now, there is a hell of a lot of work to do.

And now this is where Alj Harem normally interjects in order to cause confusion and disunity  wink Feel free
Politics / Re: Nigeria's Decent Into Holy War - Telegraph by ShangoThor(m): 12:47am On Jan 10, 2012
My biggest fear is that we have lost an opportunity to get a peaceful resolution to this issue, that of facilitating a U.N. Sponsored referendum. NL is definitely not the forum for this kind of discussion because of saboteurs. I extend my hand out to other like minded Southern Nigerians and Middle Belters that would like to form a New SECULAR Order to provide a functioning State, enabling Framework, Security and Prosperity amongst others.

Nigeria will NEVER work because we have a System that historically evolved accidentally, mainly via Military rule, to the extent that our System does not fit any describable category (chaos); and neither is it a System that our Forebears from the various constituent parts of Nigeria negotiated as a pre-condition to attaining Independence.

The State along with its apparatus is malfunctioning because the checks and balances that are meant to be built into the System have been eroded, period.

Once again, I extend my hand out to other like minded Southern Nigerians and Middle Belters that would like to form a New SECULAR Order.

Sam_Ikenna:

Beaf, Onlytruth, and Shangothor, I have seen that you guys have an undying passion for a true and secular Nigeria and I can tell you guys  have realized that secular and free Nigeria will never be in this life. Now, my question is - what do we do? I used "we" because I'm really tired of nursing a 50 year old baby that has absolutely no prospect of survival neither does it want to live to begin with. I have my own ans to the question above but before I give my own ans I would like to say that after reading many posts here there is one thing I noticed and that is - people from southern Nigeria and MB are sick of what is happening in Nigeria.

Given this Southern/MB solidarity in opinion, I think we all should see ourselves as brothers and then work to liberate what I call the "New Nigeria." Please I want you guys to know that this idea was first posted on nairaland by Shangothor lest no one arrogate it to me eventhough I have believed in it even before visiting nairaland. With the above in mind the following below are my own ans or if you may, steps to freedom.

1. We should start a movement online to liberate the secular part of Nigeria which happens to be "lower Nigeria" from this certain destruction that awaits it.

2. This movement shall include all freedom loving ethnic groups and they all must be recognized as equals irrespective of numerical strength, also each ethnic group must be regarded as independent, independent in the sense that they have all the right under the sun to choose their path after we have broken lose from Nigeria.

3. This movement will be responsible for aggressive online campain that will seek all available platform to lure our youths and convince our olds. (while this sounds like a brainwashing cult, lets realize that as long our belief is widespread in our zones its just a matter of time before our message takes center stage. besides if Boko haram, alqueda, and other militant sects, even as unwise and devious as they are have members and somewhat huge support in their domain I don't see why we cant pull off this noble cause).

4. We must not ANTAGONIZE the Muslims amongst us in any shape or form after all southern Muslims have never done any evil and should be respected.

5. All the freedom and secular loving NLers should be sweet-talked into dropping their hate for eachother and understand that its better to be allies in this noble cause than to be bickering, and on this note I say lets convince CYberg, Ezeuche, Sheguy, PointB, Jason123, Ileke-Idi, Ekt_bear etc to see the need using this unfortunate rare opportunity that Boko Haram has given us to create a massive movement that will save and secure our children's future.

6. This movement shall make it a duty to have some form of reconciliation b/w Yoruba and Igbo. Yes, its true we Igbos feel bad about the role of Awo but there were also Yorubas that fought on our side and there were Igbos that fought on the side of Nigeria therefore we should 4give and make up. The same thing applies to Ijaw even though I can say Igbos and Ijaws have gotten along pretty well for some time now. To cut the long story short, we should move closer to eachother to enable healing for the sake of our children.

7. This movement should use Nairaland for a start and when we secure reasonable number of members we then should lunch a site that caters for our cause without any political correctness.

8. I know its going to take time, believe me it will but lets see this the way Awo, Zik, and A. bello saw colonialism and attacked it head-on until they achieved our phantom independence. Like I said earlier, if alqueda and boko haram are successful in creating this ugly monster that is ravaging us today I dont see why we shouldn't be able to create a movement that will not only counter it but will insulate us from their virus.

9. Most importantly, please lets not forget that the division of Igbo and Yoruba was and still is an effective tool that "they" have milked and milked and woe betide us if we help core north milk it any further. Its time to say enough is enough and profess our admiration for each other. Igbo is not the devil neither is Yoruba betrayer, coward etc rather I would say Yoruba can be calm and positively cunning, Yes I said it and guess what - heaven has not fallen neither has Igbo lost its glory. The import is that there is absolutely nothing wrong in admiring the positive attribute of your neighbor even if its an enemy. Infact I believe it makes one strong to be able to see the good quality in ones neighbor.

Finally, I want to say that what I wrote above can not in any shape or form be said to represent or cover the rules or ideas that should govern this movement, in fact lets just say the author of this piece is bereft of rule making and therefore can not lay claim of formulating any rules however, the author believes there is a rare opening for a movement in which Yoruba, Igbo, Ijaw, Isoko, Efik, Ibibio, Igala, Berom etc will, for the sake of their children's future, abandon their agelong bickering and forge a common front geared towards liberating the more secular "Lower Nigeria."

Now for Igbo/yoruba/Efik/Ijaw/Isoko/Berom haters this is for you
Pls, lets pause for a second and ask ourselves what are we getting from Nigeria, is it better to ans giant of Africa while in real sense we are the joke of Africa? Is it better to have a bigger Nigeria and yet live in fear of travelling around your country or have a smaller country and be safe? please don't buy into the garbage of having a bigger country that will protect you incase of invasion, the truth is Nigeria couldn't protect bakassi people so what makes us think they will protect us. Besides who is invading us to begin with, is it Niger? Benin republic? Ghana? I know that OPC can defeat those armies so who then wants to invade us? I guess its America, Russia, or China - well News Flash - those countries will defeat us anyway so whats the point having a bigger Nigeria.

Hey Sam_IkennA, my biggest fear is that we have lost an opportunity to get a peaceful resolution to this issue, that of facilitating a U.N. Sponsored referendum. How can the majority of the Citizenry turn out to be so apathetic. What the hell have they done to my people, in less than three decades? Why? How the hell did we allow this regression?

Foreign Affairs / Re: US Economy Created 200,000 Jobs In December, What's Wrong With Nigeria?! by ShangoThor(m): 11:31pm On Jan 08, 2012
Firstly, not everybody in Nigeria believes in the concept of PROGRESS, let alone improving themselves via education, or contributing to the National Good, Wealth or Economy (lets face it, otherwise there would not be such chronic cases of capital flight and sabotage).

Secondly, to put it succinctly, the vested interest and influence of those profiting from the status quo of mass poverty, exploitation and corruption outweighs the influence of the exploited masses.

Unless there is a complete SYSTEM overhaul, the State along with its apparatus will continue to malfunction.
