It's time for Southerners to unite behind Justice and progress, face and repel evil. I have been screaming this on NL for months and now I'm back. The Northern States that adopted Sharia would be better served to combine forces and form a new Nation State,"you can't have your cake and eat it too". |

I have 2 questions 1) How much do you reckon local labourers will be paid to work on these vast agricultural farms? Answer: Peanuts 2) One big word: BIODIESEL (look it up) I'm sure you are all aware of the racist theory that "Black men are like babies". Damn it's so depressing not to be able to sort our crap out! Honestly, applying intelligence to knowledge is seriously lacking amongst our species. |

It's a simple strategy really, why export slaves and maintain them in foreign lands when it's cheaper to enslave them on their own continent! 1 Like |

So much for freedom of speech and a free press. I believe Fela called it 'Power Show'. Boy oh boy, Naija is screwed! Nigerians are not free in Nigeria, this sucks big time! |

xanadu101: Whose brother Pleeeeeease. Is it a dumb African trait to call a person willing to slaugther you, your family without even blinking your kinsman? The big question is how many more Northern Nigerians exist that are willing to place their warped religious existentialist ideology before their allegiance to the Nigerian State and the lives of their compatriots? I think we all know the answer to this question. |

Kobojunkie: It's pointless arguing on the basis that things in Nigeria are black or white. We have to agree to disagree on this one. Take care. |
Politics / Re: The World Must Hear This: Evil In Lagos As Governor Fashola Was Inaugurated by ShangoThor(m): 9:34pm On Jun 01, 2011 |
Kobojunkie: I acknowledge your point, however, the apparatus of State (the Police) that is meant to ensure the enforcement of law and order within the confines of Lagos State do not fall under Fashola's jurisdiction. They fall under the jurisdiction of the FG. It is the malfunctioning system that is the problem and undermines accountability, and we as citizens have done nothing about it. Several Governors have been making noise about this situation, Fashola and Jang amongst others. It's absolutely pointless critisizing the consequence without completely overhauling the System. |
Politics / Re: The World Must Hear This: Evil In Lagos As Governor Fashola Was Inaugurated by ShangoThor(m): 7:33pm On Jun 01, 2011 |
Lovejo, you need to understand that: a). It's a consequence of the malfunctioning system (nation state and apparatus) which is producing these warped results and making such criminal acts societal norms. (I mean do you seriously think that the perpetration of such barbarous acts are confined to the boundaries of Lagos?; and neither is it a recent phenomenon) b). In comparison to the era immediately after Military Rule when there was serious decadence amongst those in Authority, there has actually been a marked improvement (pROGRESS) under Fashola in Lagos. My point is that people sing Fashola's praises because compared to what was hitherto in existence, a lot of things are functioning a lot better. (A lot of people don't appreciate how bleeped and run down the Country was) c). Most Nigerians do not know or understand their constitutional rights, and majority of the Police force do not understand the Law |

I hate to be a dooms day prophet, but this is the beginning of the end. It's beginning to look like the 2015 A.D. prediction is right on course whether we like it or not. Nigeria as a nation is not working, it's akin to 'flogging a dead horse'. Everything has a breaking point and as the fault tolerance levels take their toll on the nation-state, I cannot help but wonder how much more can be tolerated till the whole polity is pushed over the edge. Delaying the inevitable will prove to be futile. |
Politics / Re: Our Fathers: Architects Of Doom by ShangoThor(m): 11:31pm On May 25, 2011 |
I'd like to add 2 crucial points to this thread a. The system of governance, constitution and rules that were negotiated by the constituent 'ethnic polities' that led to independence is not what we have ended up with. It is important to note that they would have ensured balance, objectivity and fair play in the system. b. When I was a kid I remember watching the film about Idi Amin, 'Raid on Entebe'.During this period in the 80's the Naira was stronger than the USD $, and I remember discussing the film with some school mates and we argued that it could never happen in Nigeria because we were too sophisticated for any form of authoritarian dictatorship to take root and simply cannibalize the economy. Well I was wrong, very wrong. When SAP was implemented into the Nigerian economy, there were huge winners but the vast majority of Nigerian citizens were condemned to a life of perpetual poverty. The system has and is producing some warped results and we cannot fix the status quo because there are 'non-compatriots' that will not allow it. The bar has been set so low, and we are content with exceptionally low standards. I do hold my fathers 'generation' responsible. |
Politics / Re: Yoruba,Igbo and hausa :One Nigeria by ShangoThor(m): 11:57am On May 16, 2011 |
Alj Harem, quite typical actually. Just because you can read, write and have internet access doesn't make you an intelligent being. You call mass murder CRAP, you are seriously not worthy of engaging in intellectual discourse at this point. Peace be with you, try finding another small minded NL'er to engage. |
Politics / Re: Yoruba,Igbo and hausa :One Nigeria by ShangoThor(m): 11:40am On May 16, 2011 |
Personally speaking, there isn't a problem when it comes to acknowledging and respecting diversity amongst the populace. However, accepting that a few ethnic groups that perceive themselves as being religiously distinctive, have a recurring right to perpetrate 'murder en masse' due to the alleged existence of a political grievance is akin to burying ones head in the sand. I say shame on all Nigerians that prop up this fake notion of national consciousness, for we (as we are all responsible) have managed to build a National psyche that tolerates inter-communal intolerance. A lot of the problems that exist in Nigeria today stem from the fact that we lack OBJECTIVITY as a nation. When a problem occurs people would rather paper over the cracks or sweep the cobwebs under the carpet. So what are we talking about here, slapping each other over the back and forgetting the catastrophic inhumane fate of all those just killed during the elections, and thanking the lord that no members of our family were slaughtered? Or is it more pertinent to just passively wait for the next set of events that will spark off more mass killings in the country? The bottomline is that if the country (Nigeria) does not stand for justice, common decency, legality, transparency, protection of individual civil liberties, security and the promotion of prosperity of all the citizenry then bleep the country because there is absolutely no point in flogging a dead horse. |

We should also learn some humility in our period of victory, as we are still part of the African interconnected family of ethnicities. The task is to make all Africans successful and prosperous! God bless Africa. |
Politics / Re: North-south Dialogue. What Southerners Misunderstand by ShangoThor(m): 5:07pm On Apr 27, 2011 |
GadoGado, you still have not answered my salient points. The principle of rotation according to you suits Nigeria, and you are entitled to your opinion. However, this UNDEMOCRATIC principle is not enshrined in the Constitution, period. Hence you cannot just force it down peoples throats. The only way to do it would be to hold a referendum to let the people decide if that's the way they choose to be governed. Furthermore you can't justify killing innocent people to enforce your opinion in a democracy. This is the problem, you do not want to adhere to the rules that every other community in Nigeria has to adhere to. Bang goes your argument! |

Politics / Re: North-south Dialogue. What Southerners Misunderstand by ShangoThor(m): 9:01am On Apr 27, 2011 |
@ GadoGado, let’s cut the crap and semantics. If what I believe is true, then the writing is on the wall, there are indications that most Southerners do not want a Northern led Presidency anymore, period. Hence we have a CONUNDRUM on our hands, and how do we resolve this issue? The zoning arrangement is UNCONSTITUTIONAL, UNLAWFULL and UNDEMOCRATIC. Furthermore, the Zoning agreement infringes on the 'SOVEREIGNTY' of the citizens of the polity that make up Nigeria and was never binding. SOUTHERNERS cannot be made to tow the line. Once again, I ask how do we resolve this conundrum? Irrespective of all of our opinions, we cannot ignore the fact that Southerners and elements in the North are now being asked to participate in a democratic process ‘under duress’ and subject to coercion by the deployment of widespread mob violence and mass murder. The only solution to this conundrum is to opt to mutually demarcate this country amicably! |

Politics / Re: Do You Support A North/South Referendum? by ShangoThor(m): 9:30am On Apr 26, 2011 |
DivideUs: Thanks for contributing in an extremely meaningful way. I agree with you that it will be interesting to see how border states choose to vote in this matter. I believe this has to be done and the core Muslim North crave self determination. However, to wait indefinitely and not seeking to formulate or implement a solution to this if we are serious about being a 'CIVILISED' Nation is not an option. We do not live during the Biblical era, the internal security threat of Mass Murder perpetrated by Mobs has to be checked. |
