Congrats to everyone whose visas were approved lately. |
iCool:Lol. The embassy didn't change parade. The VO simply flowed with topdee's response to the questions asked. That's why it's wise not to say what can put one in tight corner. |
larrygal:You don't have an issue dear. You already have a scholarship of €6200. Just top your account up with >=€520 and you're good to go. Also, the processing time for someone like you with scholarship doesn't take too long. Get all your necessary docs ready and go get your RP. |
gaviria:1. Why are you going to the US? You don't need to talk too much. If I was the VO, I'll just start snoring the moment you started preaching that your robotic gospel. Be as concise as possible. 2. The VO was asking about where you learned all that you said because you just sounded like a robot to him. You implicitly told him that you crammed it from the school site. 3. When you don't hear a question well. Don't just assume. Ask the VO again if indeed you're sure you didn't hear it well and be very attentive. 4. You gave a contradictory response to where you work. Why fill that you're a student when you've graduated or why fill your PPA as your current job description when you've passed out. Don't contradict yourself. Fill the right thing so you can answer appropriately without mincing words. 5. You haven't seen 24 years old that's married. Ask Ahmed Musa ![]() P.S Be as concise and specific as you can. Don't talk too much and don't answer what the VO didn't ask you. Also, don't forget the God factor. All things are possible to him that believes. Go and get your visa bro. |
drhopeful:Wawuu. Am I too surprised? Not really . Even the VO sef couldn't contain his joy. Chai. This one no be interview oo. This is what I call 'Just show your face'. Congrats ma'am. |

@lionlee216. Thank God you didn't fall when you almost slipped in the hall . I was the guy behind you on the queue. Congrats bro. |
My appointment was slated for 6:30am. Got to the embassy around 5:30am. Had to wait till 6am before the whole process of checking in. Fast forward. Got in to the main house. Did my fingerprint and waited for the VO to call me. I think it was window 4 or 5. So this is how the interview went: VO: Good morning Me: Good morning ma VO: Pass me your passport VO: So why are you going for this Masters Me: I'm going for my Masters because I finished my undergraduate study in Computer science and this course will give me a competitive advantage in my field here in Nigeria (Sincerely, I was caught off guard with this question, maybe coz it wasn't asked the way I expected) VO: So who will be paying for this? Me: I was awarded a full tuition waiver and a graduate assistantship and my dad will be covering the remaining funds. VO: So what's the name of your school? Me: Sorry, I didn't get that question ma VO: What's the name of the school you're going to? Me: BGSU VO: How many schools did you apply to? Me: I applied to three schools VO: So Why BGSU? Me: I choose this school because of the amount of quality research being carried out there in the field of Computer Science and Software Engineering. My research interest matches with that of the faculty Dr. Bleep Bleep which is on development of end users software engineering technologies. Hence, I am keen on being part of his research group and learn more. Also, the courses being offered there are designed in such a way that they are more research oriented and it best fits my career growth. (She was just nodding her head like Agama) VO: What's your research topic? Me: I'll be working on the development of end user software engineering technologies. This is a research area that aims to invent new kinds of technologies that collaborate with end users to improve the quality of their software. There is a need for this outcome because research shows that the number of end users creating their own softwares greatly exceeds the number of professional developers and that the software they create is riddled with errors. (She nodded her head again. In my mind, I was saying I no dey commot for here without my visa) VO: Do you work? Me: Yes ma VO: Where? Me: I work as bleep at firm Bleep VO: So what programming language do you know? Me: Java, C++, C#, Python VO: Where did you graduate from? Me: School bleep VO: Where did you do your NYSC? Me: I served at bleep state at an higher institution and worked as a teaching assistant. VO: How many siblings do you have? Me: I have bleep siblings VO: Are they all in Nigeria? Me: Yes ma. They're all in Nigeria VO: Did you write any test? Me: Yes. I wrote Toefl and GRE VO: what was your GRE score? Me: I had 309 in GRE and 4.0 in AWA VO: Have you travelled out before? Me: No. I have not had reasons to. Then she brought out the white paper and the golden words came 'Your visa has been approved and will be processed within 4 business days'...I didn't hear the remaining words. I was already in La La land with my teeth shining like closeup advertisement. Lol. No document was asked. Not even my birth certificate wey I carry go(lol) I just walked out smiling and feeling like the happiest man in the world. Lemme share my lil success tips for prospective visa applicants 1. Pray, pray and pray. For indeed without God we can do nothing. 2. Prepare. You just need to prepare. Don't go and do free styling at the embassy oo. Know your course well. Read previous transcripts. I read all the transcripts(both accepted and rejected) in the dropbox link that was dropped here and prepared my own transcript using the responses in the previous interview. 3. I rehearsed my answers oo facing the mirror for like 2 weeks, speaking to myself everyday and watching my eye contact and body posture through the mirror. Pls rehearse and if you can memorize like me, it's an added advantage. 4. Maintain eye contact with the VO. Don't look away for once, smile and speak confidently. I was just smiling like WhatsApp Smiley at the embassy. The visa interview ain't that scary jare. 5. Speak concisely. Don't talk too much. Just give the main points. 6. Fill the DS-160 by yourself. Don't allow one agent to fill in rubbish for you. I guess the VO was asking me some questions based on my DS-160 info. 7. Again, Pray and trust God. If you think the God factor is not involved in this visa tin, na you sabi. After Finland bounced me last year, God has vindicated me. Make I come dey go Trumpland. Na me and trump go run tins together. Lol Pls bear with my long epistle. I didn't even know I was asked these much questions until I started typing. Overjoy is doing me ATM. God bless everyone here who has one way or the other been a blessing to me via their posts. Wishing all prospective visa applicants success in their interviews. akins2016, dramaka. I don dey come oo ![]() |

Awesu122:Okay. I got a full tuition waiver+ GTA. I can't really say much about your department because the best person to tell you if your dept gives funding+ GA is your grad cord. Also, it's a safe school but lately, safe schools have been acting unsafe ![]() By the way, you said you just applied for Fall. Hmm..That's quite late for funding coz the deadline for funding for most progs in the school was March 1st but like i said earlier, your grad cord will be in the best position to answer this. |
Awesu122:I'm heading to BGSU, Ohio this coming Fall for MS Computer Science. What do you want to know? |
chrisdavinci:As at Tuesday 25th of April, available dates in Lagos were April 28, May 11,12, 15..... I'm surprised you said there are no more available dates. Could those dates be filled up so soon ![]() |
Divabiola:Congrats dear. |
udi2111:You don't sound like a genuine prospective student. Elect engineering to nursing sounds confusing except you're just looking for an escape route. Mind you, if you think you can just quit a program anyhow, you'll be out of status and if you're caught, you'll see Muritala the next day. |
Scholastica16:320-325 |
tensazangetsu20:Yea. He ended up well |
tensazangetsu20:He had outstanding achievements oo, one of which was BGS of his school and I think he had research experience. |
Scholastica16:Scholastica16, I tried to code it but you figured it out . You don burst my bubbles. Yea. He's in UT Austin. In fact, he even got a good offer from Georgia Tech(full funding for Phd) but rejected it for UT Austin. What got me perturbed was why MIT, Princeton and co would bounce such strong profile even with a very good GRE score, SOP and LORs. By the way, are you an Akokite ![]() |
drhopeful:@bolded. Very true. I have a friend who graduated with 4.96 in Chem Eng from one of the top 5 schools in Naija. He applied to MIT, Princeton, Stanford. They all bounced him. So, no one sends your first class without research experience and our degrees don't even carry weight when placed beside degrees from foreign schools. |
kaydp:Lol. Me don port to Yankee oo ![]() |
Ugoh11:Guy, you no try at all. You don't just talk to people you don't know anyhow even though it's a faceless forum. |
Op, you are not serious. You said teacher flogs, slaps and beats a female student, then she does this. I was even expecting to see the student's response as maybe slapping the teacher back or something. Next please... |
