As expected, they can't mention the names of the persons offering them $1milliin each to impeach the governor.

Fayose's rantings are just like that of an ant, it ruffles no feather not to talk of the president.

Earlier today, it was Lere Olayinka packing his bag and getting ready for arrest, now, it's the entire members of Ekiti house of assembly making spurious allegation. Seems Fayose has infected everybody in Ekiti with his attention seeking virus.

For those that will attack me, Buhari had the chance to remove Fayose when he was inaugurated in May through APC legislators but he refused to do it. So, why will he want to remove him now? What's Fayose's relevance in Nigeria that the president will want to waste scarce $1million to impeach him?
Ask your stupid and brain wagged nomad president who hates criticism.

No wonder Fayose keeps making a fool of himself with meaningless attacks on the president. He is surrounded by attention seeking idiots like Lere Olayinka.

This clown can keep getting the media attention of wailers for all it's worth, if he has done anything wrong that will warrant his arrest and prosecution, he will definitely be picked up and tried. Nobody is above the law.
You are the number 1 idiot for supporting this failed government in arresting the freedom of speech which Nigerians once enjoyed. So anybody that criticizes the government stands to be arrested and detained by this "ping ponged" DSS and you are happy spewing thrash.

Let me tell you, no democracy survives without opposition. Take ur self as an instance, if you were not corrected or criticized by ur parents and friends do you think you would have turned out the you you are today.

I am sorry for all the Nigerians that have lost their sense or moral judgment and now craves for support over any thing the government dies; good or bad.

Politics in Rivers state is quite interesting, because has always been about about "chop-i-chop", that's why most youths were supporting Wike during d elections. They assumed that PDP would retain d power at d centre, but they miscalculated. With this new govt, they are just getting enlightened now about the wrong choice of a Governor they made. Hence, most youths now support APC in Rivers State for a better future. The rest that are supporting PDP are just doing so for their personal benefits or tribal sentiments. No sensible youth that would support PDP a party widout legacy over APC.
You must be bereaft of information if your are thinking that the youths in Rivers state are supporting the APC. APC has been rejected in the South East and South and South South states. It will be more clear to you when the Edo state gubernatorial elections are held.

APC is a failed party, brandished with propaganda. Well meaning Nigerians have rejected it.

Good News everywhere.

So they gave them clothes, shoes and umbrellas? good thing you guys are burning them. I can assure you guys, that after denouncing the PDP your live's cannot be the same anymore.

The APC is a party of progressive. A party where looting, killing, Corruption, Amosu Soakaway Bank,Contract inflation, Nimasa Sharing, Dasuki Atm, Jonathan's cluelessness, tribalism and a host of other things is not welcome.

Be ready to contribute your quota in making Nigeria great.

Meanwhile, you guys should allow the THUG in the Government house in Rivers continue to cause mayhem in Ogoni Land. He forgets that there is a thing called EMERGENCY RULE, and once that happens, he will seize to be the Governor of the State.
You are always crying over PDP issues; u'll soon die of heart attack. How many non entities can you find in that photograph depicting PDP members defecting to failed APC?

Gradually Wike's true self is manifesting.

A polarizing figure like Wike should not have been allowed to be in Power. And now that he has given a tacit approval of hate, for his thugs and killers to move into the Ogoni Land, there will be a lot of mayhem soon.

Rivers State is a Gunpowder, waiting to go off. The amount of arms, militants, political thugs, killers, PDP Sponsored Militia's going round, will soon set the State on fire and i hope President Buhari, will do the needful by declaring a State of Emergency and another person put in charge of the State.

There is no Political Death in Rivers State since 1999, that has not somehow be traced to Wike. From when he was a Political thug to Peter Odilli, to becoming a Local Government Chairman, Minister and his present position.

This is a man who has no respect for life.

To the Ogoni people, be strong. Go ahead with your peaceful protests. The Observers are observing.
I do not expect anything contrary from you blind APC supporter. All your comments on this forum is guided with bias with no moral justification.

PoliticsRe: Blame Jonathan by shellworker: 1:38pm On Feb 21, 2016
cuvox:
Last week, Vanguard reported a curious drama during the
State House briefing after the meeting of the National
Executive Council, between State House Correspondents and
the Minister for Information, Mr. Lai Mohammed. It seemed
like the Buhari cabinet did not have much to talk about.
There is of course much going on. Boko Haram is still killing
and pillaging. The Chibok girls are as good as lost. To remove
the sheen from that fact, the President was reported a
while ago to have pointedly told parents of the girls of
Chibok to go home as there’s not much else he could do for
them.

Well, that’s very disappointing because President Buhari and
the APC made it a cardinal point of their election promise to
return the kidnapped girls of Chibok to their families as soon
as they are installed in government. Not to return the girls
will amount to a breach of trust and a failure to fulfil a
cardinal electoral promise. Goodluck Jonathan lost Nigerians,
and began to lose his re-election following the massive
international outrage that accompanied the kidnap of the
Chibok girls.

The Jonathan administration was vehemently criticized for
its slow and half-hearted response, and for its inability to
mount a strategic rescue operation to get back the girls from
their captor. The loss of the Chibok girls was Jonathan’s
greatest undoing, and it is actually in my thinking right after
all, that for that alone, he deserved to lose the presidency.
Right under his watch over two hundred young women
disappeared from a boarding school. This was more than a
security lapse, it was a clear failure of national security. It
required a great operational capability to move that number
of people through many borders, and it needed only a
decayed or frayed security system to permit that. Because
the president failed to protect these citizens of Nigeria to
whom he had sworn both allegiance and service, he did not
deserve to be returned to his job as president.

In actual fact, Jonathan’s slow response, and the campaign
mounted in protest grew to frenzy. In the end, he went to
the National Assembly and secured $1 billion in supplementary
funding for his national security operations to fight Boko
Haram, and mandated that operation on his National Security
Adviser, Sambo Dasuki. If truth must be told, by the time of
the elections, Jonathan’s new strategy had put Boko Haram
on the run, degraded its operations, and the tide had turned
very clearly. Another three to six months of sustained action
at the level may have seen the end of Boko Haram by now.
But it was already too late for Jonathan’s government. He
had waited far too late in the day to mount a serious
counter offensive against the Islamic insurgency. It was too
little too late. But there were visible signs of an impending
Boko Haram defeat at the eve of Jonathan’s departure, on
the strength of which Mr. Lai Mohammed, the Minister for
Information, and Chief spokesman of this administration, no
sooner in the life of the current administration was almost
too quick on the draw to claim victory and the defeat of
Boko Haram. Lai Mohammed was quoted at various times to
say that Boko Haram, “technically” had been defeated and
“degraded.” But six months later, Boko Haram is still there,
and under the watch of this administration, has mounted
even bolder, more ferocious attack, and on a greater killing
spree than was possible under Jonathan.

The Buhari administration has thus far failed in its promise to
defeat Boko Haram. The significant push-back achieved at
the twilight of the Jonathan administration has been lost.
There is no clear-cut policy on the insurgency by this
president except to move his military headquarters and put
more boots on the ground. But an insurgency such as this
requires a different strategy of counter-insurgency beyond
traditional warfare techniques, and Jonathan’s last strategy
before his electoral defeat had come to understand this.
Meanwhile, the Buhari administration is busy conducting a
killing spree of unarmed Biafran protesters in the South East
of Nigeria, while Boko Haram insurgents are running wild in
the North East. Something clearly doesn’t add up here, but
back to Lai Mohammed. His critics have dubbed him “Liar
Mohammed,” an unkind cut from his name, “Lai.” I have
always liked the name, “Lai” because a great friend of mine
from the University was called “Lai” and he was a great guy.
Besides, I will not go so far as calling a Nigerian minister,
“Liar,” but it often takes a great alchemist of untruths and
distortions, to do the work of pure propaganda, as Mr.
Mohammed has often done for the current administration.

His strategy when everything fails is, “blame Jonathan.” So,
in this last briefing of journalists, only two items were lined
up: his attempt to explain the president’s numerous foreign
travels, which has recently come under severe criticism, and
his need to blame Jonathan for everything else. Reporters
wanted to know a bit more – the radical slide of the naira,
Boko Haram, the budget-padding scandal, the administration’s
economic projections. But Lai Mohammed was in his element.
Blame Jonathan. To justify the president’s increasingly
expensive and wasteful foreign trips, the minister said, “You
cannot run an economy by being isolated.” True enough. But
that is why we have a Foreign Ministry and a foreign
minister. Trained diplomats would not tell the Telegraph in
London as the President recently did that “Nigerians are
mostly criminals.” Such a statement is not meant to inspire
or invite investor confidence. But what did Lai say? Blame
Jonathan. Buhari has to travel because Nigeria had a pariah
status under Jonathan. That is a lie, minister. Nigeria’s
international standing actually improved under Jonathan. But
this blame Jonathan game is getting old and worrisome.

Budget goes missing, blame Jonathan. Buhari travels, blame
Jonathan; Boko Haram continues to strike, blame Jonathan;
Naira crashes, blame Jonathan; Economy worsens, blame
Jonathan. One truth is clear: Jonathan revived the comatose
railways, rebuilt long run-down federal highways, re-equipped
the Armed Services, built twelve new Universities, and
expanded the middle class. Above all, his greatest achievement
was that Nigerians felt true liberty and freedom: no Nigerian
lived in fear of government’s persecution, and he brought to
an end, the spate of assassinations and kidnappings that
marked the height of national insecurity before him. He
wasn’t without achievement. His greatest undoing was the
kidnap of the Chibok girls and his slow response to it. Lai
Mohammed’s attempt to place the current failures of the
current administration on Jonathan is both laughable and
tragic.

What is increasingly clear is that the APC had no plan to
govern. Buhari’s first steps in government was all wrong: he
started by alienating an entire segment of Nigerians, and he
was too slow to respond to the realities of the crisis in the
international oil market. Rather than pick up from Jonathan
running, he crawled for six months, and seemed startled and
confused by his own electoral victory. That period of inaction
for six months when he failed to organize his government,
stanch leakages, and establish necessary reforms has led to
the current crisis with the Naira in a freefall, and the
economy leaking badly like a wicker basket. Buhari’s
economic policy that limited the circulation of money has led
to a crisis of production and distribution. When he finally
presented his budget, it became clear to Nigerians that this
president is the one who really has no clue what running a
contemporary nation is about in the 21st century, and the
Tsunami that is about to hit him if he fails to reposition his
priorities. He is already nine months in office, and he is still
blaming Jonathan. Come three years hence this government
will still be blaming Jonathan. Blame Jonathan is, it seems,
the Buhari administration’s most consistent domestic policy. O
ma bloody se o!

Hi
Kockane:
Mummy Onyeka, ordinarily you belong in the class of King Sunny Ade, Oliver de coque, Ebenezer Obey, etc. Because truly you are a veteran in the industry but unfortunately today, due to your greed and wanton desire for easy wealth, you have sold your integrity to the highest bidder and lost all respect that should be accorded a woman of your calibre. Today, I wouldn't even place you in the class of people like Vic-O, because at least, those people have something they stand for, for you madam, I'm yet to see exactly what your values are.

From supporting Babangida's tyrranical rule, to spearheading Abacha's "President for life" ambition, to licking Obasanjo's butt, Yaradua didn't have your time but you eventually wriggled your way into power again with GEJ and carried his failed reelection bid on your head like a pure water seller.

Right now you should just bow your head in shame please, and stop trying to whip up tribal sentiments because you lost a job given to you as compensation. Because if I ask you now, since you got into office, how have you been able to touch the life of the average Nigerian? You go dey look me like luqmon.

Please be gone! Nothing you or say willbchange the fact that you were disgraced out of office.

Judas Iscariot, Marcus Brutus, Rotimi Amaechi: 7 Infamous Traitors In History (READ)
by abc News - Jan 27, 2016
Rotimi Amaechi speaking at an event - undated photo

From biblical days, to the race to colonize the New World, to the situation in the Middle East today, human history has been dotted with self-serving traitors and collaborators who have betrayed their peoples and their nations.

But in the end, not everyone had a chance to enjoy the fruits of their betrayal for long.
The-Kiss1_FotorThe kiss of betrayal

JUDAS ISCARIOT: One of the 12 apostles, Judas betrayed Jesus after the Last Supper in the garden of Gethsemane, where he identified the “heretic” proclaiming himself to be the son of God to an armed band by kissing him. It was the kiss of death for Jesus of Nazareth, but for the Christian faith, the crucifixion and the subsequent resurrection became the central tenets of a faith that has spread across the globe. But Judas was to suffer a punishing fate for his misdeeds.

The Judaean villager was allegedly paid 30 pieces of silver for his collaboration, but in some biblical accounts, Judas threw away the blood money after the crucifixion in repentance and horror. By all accounts, he later committed suicide and the money allegedly went to buy a potter’s field. For his collaboration, Judas has turned into one of the most derided figures in Western history and his name today is synonymous with betrayal.

MARCUS BRUTUS: One of the most well-known cries of dismay over a betrayal is Julius Caesar’s “Et tu, Brute?,” uttered when Brutus, a Roman senator, joined a plot to oust Caesar from power. But Brutus’ betrayal was fueled by complicated concerns for the Roman republic.

A beloved friend of Caesar, Brutus opposed the ascension of any single man to the position of dictator, and he feared his dear friend aspired to such power. Brutus’ inflexible sense of honor made it easy for Caesar’s enemies to manipulate him into believing that Caesar had to be killed for the republic to survive. In the end, the story of Marcus Brutus is the story of the complexities of human choices. The “noblest of Romans” ultimately betrayed his friend because he loved the republic more.
Artist's impression of Dona MarinaArtist’s impression of Dona Marina

DOÑA MARINA: Arguably the most reviled women in the Hispanic world, Doña Marina is known as the traitor — and in some circles, the harlot — who betrayed her people to the viciously cruel Spanish conquistadors. A former slave, Marina was the translator-cum-mistress of Hernando Cortes, the conqueror of “New Spain” or what is now Mexico. Born into an Aztec family, she knew Nahuatl, the Aztec language, when she was sold as a slave in the Yucatan peninsular where she learned the Mayan dialects. She was therefore able to translate the Nahuatl of the Aztec emperor into the Mayan language, which was understood by Cortes’ Spanish translator.

According to legends, the vital linguistic link proved crucial in helping Cortes conquer the New World. Marina went on to bear Cortes a son and for her contribution to history, she is known as La Malinche, a term denoting betrayal. To this day, the word malinchista is used to describe a Mexican who apes the language and customs of another country.
Owain Yeoman as Benedict Arnold - TURN: Washington's Spies _ Season 2, Episode 2 | Antony Platt/AMCOwain Yeoman as Benedict Arnold – TURN: Washington’s Spies _ Season 2, Episode 2 | Antony Platt/AMC

BENEDICT ARNOLD: At the start of the American War of Independence, Benedict Arnold was an American hero, a brilliant general who fought bravely in several tough battles. By the end of the war, he was commanding British troops against his former forces, a general on the losing side who has gone down in history as a “turncoat” and a traitor. Embittered by what he saw as a lack of recognition of his military genius, Arnold offered West Point to the British in return for 20,000 pounds and proceeded to systematically weaken the defenses of the strategic fort overlooking the Hudson River in New York state.

But his plot quickly unraveled and Arnold’s contact with the British army, Maj. John Andre, was captured by American forces and hanged. Arnold escaped to a British frigate and although the British never really trusted him, he was given command of British troops. After the war, he and his wife went to England, where he died, the most famous traitor in American history.
Marshal Philippe Pétain shakes hands with Adolf Hitler watched by interpreter Colonel Schmidt | Hulton Archive/Getty MARSHAL PÉTAIN: It was Marshal Pétain’s Oct. 30, 1940, speech to the French people after meeting Adolf Hitler — in which he declared: “I am today setting out along the road of collaboration” — that forever changed the connotation of the word “collaborator.” Although Pétain used it in a positive sense, his actions and his role in history turned the term into a synonym for “betrayer.”

A French military hero during World War I, Pétain was convicted as a traitor for heading the pro-Nazi Vichy regime after France’s defeat in World War II. Following the German invasion of France, Pétain took over as premier from Paul Reynaud and proceeded to sign an armistice with Germany. With German support, he established a Fascist-oriented government in Vichy, central France, that accounted for some of the darkest chapters in French history.

The Vichy collaboration with the Nazis extended to virtually every aspect of life — from the political to the cultural and most notoriously, in the passing of anti-Semitic laws under which French, Spanish and Eastern European Jews were rounded up and deported to German concentration camps. With the Allied victory, Pétain fled to Germany, but later returned to France to stand trial for treason. He was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment to Ile d’Yeu, an island off the coast of Brittany, where he died.
Ikuko Toguri, Ikuko Toguri, “Tokyo Rose”

TOKYO ROSE: Born Ikuko Toguri, “Tokyo Rose” was the infamous disc jockey whose radio program, Zero Hour, led to the conviction of the Japanese-American woman of treason against the United States. Born in Los Angeles in 1916, Toguri was in Japan when World War II broke out. From Japan, she launched her career at Radio Tokyo as a part of the Japanese psychological warfare machinery.

Under the alias of “Orphan Ann,” Toguri took to the airwaves, beaming propaganda designed to lower the morale of U.S. troops. On air, she never used the title “Tokyo Rose,” which was a term used by U.S. troops in the South Pacific to describe a number of English-speaking Japanese women employed in Radio Tokyo’s propaganda effort.

After the war, she was tried for treason in the United States, and her defense that she was forced to work at Radio Tokyo was rejected. In 1949, a San Francisco court sentenced her to 10 years of imprisonment for the crime of treason. She served more than six years of the sentence before being released. Toguri was eventually granted a presidential pardon by President Gerald Ford in 1977.

ROTIMI AMAECHI: Born Chibuike Amaechi and rose from extreme poverty to power at the mercy of his benevolent helper Dr. Peter Odili. It is not clear how they met, but it is a documented history that Dr. Odili who became Governor of Rivers State saved Rotimi Amaechi from poverty and provided the space and opportunity for his eventual rise to power. As it is the practice with majority of machiavellians, Dr. Odili was the first major victim of Amaechi’s rise to power. Rotimi, himself, became Governor. The betrayal of his boss, a strong political national figure immediately shot him to light and prominence and opened vistas of opportunities with Northern power brokers against the wishes of his people.

He would stop at nothing to ensure he became the solo leading light of his home region, the Niger Delta. He celebrated his success of leading the charge and ousting the first and only President produced by the region in a bid to deputise a Northern presidential candidate. While the bid failed due to the cautious reservations by Northern power blocs due to his controversial rise to power and the betrayal that trailed him, he also failed to clinch many other advertised and lobbied juicy positions.
Director General of the Buhari Presidential Campaign, Rotimi Amaechi pays visit to then, President Elect, General Muhammadu Buhari Director General of the Buhari Presidential Campaign, Rotimi Amaechi pays visit to then, President Elect, General Muhammadu Buhari

After a turbulent screening process for the position of a federal minister, one that could well pass as the most controversial in the history of Nigeria, due to indictments on corruption, he managed to scale through and was appointed Minister for Transport; a position he also uses to strangulate and further marginalise the people of the Niger Delta. Since his appointment he has been dogged in allegations of championing military incursions and invasions of communities in the Niger Delta and has called for the cancellation of the only Maritime University in the country and sited in the region; preferring rather that it be relocated to the Northern city of Kaduna.

Mr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is arguably the most infamous betrayer living today for undermining the development of his people, mismanaging several billions of dollars and allying with their persecutors to undermine their survival.

All these anti igbo dull brains here. Do you expect Isaac Sagay to speak against his principal or criticise the actions of his principal? The answer is of course NO.

He is in government and needs to do the needful to let his boss know he is supporting him. Even if he knows the truth, he will still be blind on it and speak in favour of his boss.

We all know the truth that igbos are marginalised. Some persons are of the argument that, why must the agitation for Biafra escalate during Buhari's tenure. It had to because, Buhari refund to let sleeping dogs lye. He came to power and made his appointments with non from the South East. The South Easterners only got appointments from the compulsory constitutional requirement of federal representation.

The same Buhari opened his mouth to further show hatred on the igbos by classifying them as haven given him 5% votes and will so benefit from his government.

The marginalization has been and eyes have been turned away from it not until Buhari made his intentions known.

Anyone who says he is not seeing the marginalization and hatred for the igbos in the country is a hypocrite.

He is God sent and exactly what Nigeria needs at this period.

Buhari is a breath of fresh AIR. The IPOB Youths and friends are no longer robbing and looting Nigeria blind

Under GEJ, IPOB illiterates that did not finish secondary school turned to overnight millionaires simply because they got concessions to ship petroleum products.

Those days are GONE- IPOB Youths, get used to it.

God bless Buhari!

My friend speak for yourself. Who told you that vast majority of Nigerians are behind dictator Buhari. Buhari has never achieved anything that would give our economy a boost and you are here saying majority of Nigerians are behind him.

All Buhari's concentration is on fighting corruption. Is corruption the only problem Nigeria has?

No youth employment, no constant power supply, poor infrastructure, dwindling economy, interference of the judiciary, failing currency, etc etc.

Let's stop being partisan and never turn our back on truth.

PoliticsA Government Of Sadists, By Femi Fani-kayode by shellworker(op): 9:29pm On Dec 19, 2015
On the night of 12th December 2015 in the city of Zaria, Kaduna state, Sheik El-Zakzaky, the leader of the 10 million-strong Shia Muslim community in Nigeria, was shot, brutalized and dumped in a wheelbarrow. He barely escaped with his life but sadly, according to Iranian government sources and The New York Times, his wife, two of his sons and no less than one thousand of his Shia Muslim followers were not so lucky.

They were massacred in the sanctity of their homes that night by members of the Nigerian Armed Forces. Up until the time that I am writing this essay, not one word of regret or remorse has been expressed by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigerian Armed Forces or the federal government about the whole incident.

That alone speaks volumes but what is more important to note is the fact that this is one of the most brutal and callous events in the history of our country. It was premeditated, well-planned, well-orchestrated and well-executed. Homes were bombed and burnt to the ground and innocent and defenseless men, women and children were slaughtered in an unrelenting frenzy of violence.

After the carnage, the bodies of the victims were left in the compound of the houses and in the streets and gutters for carrion birds to feed on and for street urchins and petty thieves to rob. This was indeed a sordid and shameful chapter: it was not only mass murder but it was also a crime against humanity. Those that were murdered were targeted simply because they were Shia Muslims and simply because, earlier in the day, some of them had mounted a road block which obstructed the convoy of the General Burutai, the chief of army staff.

It is very clear that by this act alone the chief of army staff, under whose orders these men were acting, President Muhammadu Buhari, who is the commander-in-chief of our armed forces, and every single officer and soldier that took part in the massacre are guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity and are therefore candidates for the International Criminal Court at the Hague. Our leaders must be accountable and it is my fervent prayer and desire that the whole matter ends up there and that both Buhari and Burutai are called to justice.

What makes the whole matter worse is the fact that there was no mention of the episode on the BBC television or CNN and there was no sense of outrage in our country about what these people had been subjected to. One wonders what happened to our sense of decency and our ability to empathize with those that are suffering and that have been subjected to injustice? What happened to our sense of responsibility, our sensitivity and our compassion? Yet it doesn’t stop there.

Two days before the tragic events in Zaria, a man was granted bail by two separate courts in two separate criminal matters in Lagos. However the minute he stepped out of the court premises he was confronted and apprehended by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), violently manhandled, dragged off the streets, bundled into a waiting van, given the beating of his life and whisked away to an unknown destination. According to our constitution this man is presumed innocent until proven guilty and up until now he has not been found guilty of any crime. Worse still, the operatives did not have an arrest warrant and what they did was manifestly unlawful. Yet despite that, again there is no sense of outrage in our country about the treatment that this man was subjected to. Again it doesn’t stop there.

Approximately one month ago, a man was granted bail and given permission to travel out of the country by the Federal High Court for medical treatment. Yet as he proceeded to do so he discovered that the Department of State Security (DSS) had laid siege to his home. They refused to let him step out of the gate, they traumatized his family and they criminalised and demonised him in the national and international media. After a month of confining him to his home they eventually stormed his house, overwhelmed his security men, roughed him up, dragged him out feet first, threw him in a waiting car, abducted him and carried him away to an unknown destination. All this happened in violation of an order of the Federal High Court and despite the fact that he had not been found guilty of any crime by any court in the land yet there is no sense of outrage in our country.

Again it doesn’t stop there. A man obtains a court order that the DSS must not under any circumstances enter his home yet they ignore that order, force their way into his house, shoot bullets everywhere, terrorize and manhandle his children, beat up his wife and “bite” her like a dog, throw their belongings into the streets and finally violently evict him and his family from the premises and into the streets and there is no sense of outrage in our country. Again it doesn’t stop there.

A man is arrested by the EFCC, he is maligned and convicted in the media by what are, more often than not, false allegations and spurious confessions that are skillfully leaked to the press by his tormentors and captors. After days in detention he is eventually charged and arraigned before three separate courts for virtually the same offences all in an attempt to break, humiliate and shame him. He is subjected to all this despite the fact that he is deemed innocent until proven guilty yet there is no sense of outrage in the country over the matter. Again it doesn’t stop there.

A man is arrested and detained by the DSS simply because he expresses his desire for the establishment of a new nation called Biafra. He is kept in solitary confinement and denied access to his lawyer and family members for weeks on end. His lawyer goes to court and the court grants him bail and directs that he should be released on reasonable terms and conditions. All those terms and conditions are met but instead of abiding by the court order and releasing him the DSS keeps him in detention for a further three months.

After the three months have expired they take him to a different court and apply to keep him in detention for yet another three months. The new court declines to grant that order and instead directs that he should be released unconditionally and with immediate effect. On hearing about the order of the court the supporters of the young man went to the streets in many cities in eastern Nigeria and started celebrating and jubilating.

This did not go down well with President Buhari’s security agencies and consequently they shot dead five of the man’s young supporters in Onitsha simply for jubilating, singing solidarity songs and dancing in the streets. Meanwhile, the DSS have refused to abide by the court order and up until the time that I am writing this essay the man has not been released and he remains in their custody. All this has happened to this man and his followers yet there is no sense of outrage in the country about what they have been subjected to.

When one considers all these events one is at a loss for words. Is this really a democracy? I have come to the conclusion that this is a government of sadists, run by sadists and for sadists. Not only do they place no stock or value on the sanctity of human life but they also relish in their impunity and their lack of respect for the rule of law.

They are cowardly, wicked, malicious, petty, insensitive, vicious and, worst of all, manifestly incompetent. They are a government of liars, run by liars and for liars. They malign the weak, harass the defenseless, torment the poor and punish the innocent but God will see their end. They are soft on Boko Haram whilst they murder Shia Muslims, Christians, Biafrans, the young, the old, the weak and the vulnerable.

They defy court orders and mock the judiciary. They abuse power and defy the word of God. They rejoice when others suffer and they take pleasure in the misfortune of their adversaries. Instead of being just and true, they are perverse in all their ways. Instead of seeking peace, moving the country forward and facing the business of governance they have chosen to tread the path of destruction, persecution, discord, strife, witch-hunts, lies, demonization and war. In a futile attempt to distract the world from their own failures they seek to inculcate and establish an atmosphere of fear and intimidation and thereby silence their perceived enemies and detractors.

Yet, no matter how many people they incriminate, criminalise, malign, humiliate, misrepresent, beat and lock up, no matter how many people they kill, no matter how many people they abduct and throw out of their homes, the fact remains that the country is still falling apart and our economy is still going to the dogs.

No matter what lies they tell and no matter what entertainment and palliatives they feed us with to keep us grinning and distracted, the value of the naira is still at its lowest in its 42 years of existence, the security situation is still terrible, Boko Haram is still waxing stronger, the morale of our soldiers is still getting lower, the price of food is still rocketing, the fuel queues still persist and poverty and hardship pervades the land like never before.

The Buhari administration is indulging in wickedness and the abuse of power, violating the civil liberties and human rights of its own citizens, murdering its own people, dividing the country, witchunting and intimidating its perceived enemies, making a mockery of justice and the fight against corruption, rejecting peace and all that is wholesome and true and, like the biblical Pharaoh, they are provoking the wrath of the Lord and playing with fire. As He did with Pharaoh, Nebuchadnezzar, Jezebel and Sennacherib, God will surely break them and bring them down.

He will avenge the dead, He will vindicate the innocent and falsely accused, He will prove Himself mighty in battle and He will grant them no mercy. Shame and woe be unto all those that have chosen to dine with the devil by joining and supporting this government. The Bible says there is no peace for the wicked. There is no fellowship between light and darkness. There is no agreement between good and evil. There is no commonality of purpose between the just and the perverse.

There is no accord between the compassionate and the heartless. There is no bond between the kind and the wicked. I would rather die than join or support a government of heartless men and closet fundamentalists. I have no doubt that by the time this is all over the Nigerian people will regret the choice that they made earlier this year and they will beg for a true democrat and peace-loving man to be elected into office. Like the proverbial frog that is slowly being boiled in water but that does not even feel it, our people are being taken for a ride by the Buhari administration.

To distract them from his government’s monumental failures, the president feeds them with a daily dose of lies, falsehood and sensational and unsubstantiated allegations about the so-called corruption of key players in the previous administration. Sadly, the people lap it up with joy and accept the tales they are being told without question, reason or exception. They forget that allegations are a dime a dozen and that trial by media does not often result in a conviction in a diligent and responsible court of law.

Meanwhile, as this obscene circus show of branding everyone but himself as a crook and feeding the innocents to the lions continues, President Buhari is destroying the lives of the people, ruining the economy, crushing his opponents, silencing his detractors, discrediting his adversaries and dividing our nation. He is also breaking the spirit of our country and turning us into a laughing stock before the international community.

The bottom line is this: Nigeria has been transformed into a Gestapo-like police state where state-sponsored lies and propaganda hold sway and where fear, coercion, blackmail and intimidation are the primary tools of governance.

May God grant us the courage to take back our country and may the forces of light, truth and justice prevail in our land. Merry Christmas.

With the Sack of 23 House of Assembly members looming..and the 60 days for rerun also imminent. APC will simply ambush you here by "making Sure" they reclaim most of the seats, thereby given them the constitutional right to elect the Speaker.

Now, having done that, the Speaker and APC will simply wait the for the affirmation of your Sack from the Supreme, and afterwards, swear in the Speaker who will torment, pursue and witch hunt you till you are disgraced on the Election day.
