Nobody doesn't like iPhone or apple products. The technology used in building iphones are much more advanced, hence putting the price of a unit of it higher than other phones. Iphones are expensive than others, unlike Samsung where you can find different types of it for many different people of all walks of life, which accounts for high demand of it. IPhone is the brand for many celebrities. |
May God help Atiku reclaim his mandate. tourplanet84: |
Buhari didn't win, he's just galivanting with a stolen mandate. The mandate will soon be retaken from him. |
Fake news... It does not have the logo of the news media that purportedly reported it like is seen in the one reported by Punch. |

May their souls rest in peace. The right word is, "Hilux truck" and not "Hilux van". Our youths should not be lazy to read. |
The right word to use should have been, "cheered" by corp members and not "mobbed" by corpers. Our youths should not be lazy to read. |
The assertion that Buhari will be the first African president to meet with Donald Trump is not correct.. The chairman of the African Union had first met with Donald Trump after Donald Trump referred African nations as shit hole countries. Don’t try to play smart aboki. |
CilicMarin:Forget sentiment and embrace the truth. If we continue turning blind eyes to truth as youths because of political or religious affiliations, that means our future as youths is doomed. All these old men, Buhari and the likes, will one day quit or not having the ability to be part of the polity anymore, by then they would have destroyed the country for us. Let's not let sentiment becloud our ability of good judgment. Reno Omokri has spoken the truth, whether we like it or not. |

Arondizuogu:You always need to cut your coat according to your size and think ahead of time. If you must buy something on credit, buy the one you can comfortably pay off based on your income. Many people here have bought so many things on credit with their card and comfortably paid off without issues and it improved their credit history. And credit card is not designed to deal with low income earners but rather to help them; it's not compulsory that everyone must have it. Both low and high income earners are allowed to have it if they choose. Also, you should avoid buying every single thing you need on credit say as not to accumulate debt for yourself. Avoid artificial life style. Not all Nigerians in the US are employees, some are self employed and have all the time in the world. America is full of opportunities, think of what betters your life more. |
Follygunners:Have you or have you not heard of students' credit card. Mind you also that there is competition in the issuance of credit cards. So where there is competition what happens? Of course interest reduction. Credit history means checking your ability to clear your debts and it's not debt in millions. Get it right. |
This analysis of the financial life style of people living in the US or other countries overseas is not true. I presently stay in the US. It is not tied on anybody to buy things on credit; it's not compulsory. However, buying things on credit is a way that the government has resorted to helping people especially the low income earners. In Nigeria for instance, a young university graduate who just got a low paying job of say #80,000 who is in need of renting an apartment and at the same time in need of a car to be shuttling to work may find it difficult to do so because of his income. Assuming that the Nigerian government establishes a law to car dealerships, banks and other financial institutions to grant the requests of persons that wish to buy cars from them on lease and pay over a period of term, you will see that that young school graduate will be able to own a car and better his life. The money will be split for him to be paying in bits for a period of say 12, 24, 36, 48 or 72 months etc., depending on the terms and the cost of the car. Now let's say he bought a car of #1.5m. Divide the money into the number of months and add a little interest. After dividing you will see that this young employee may be paying as little as #41.6 for a 36 months term over a car he bought on credit. With this life is a little worth easier isn't it. But note that before such a credit sale you will have to enter into contract agreement with the loaning firm. Where in if you discontinue with the payment at any time without haven reached the complete amount, the car will be seized and all the money you have paid earlier will be lost. The OP also made an analogy with Samsung Galaxy S8 and a lower brand. I will like to clarify him. In US if you are paying for a car you bought on credit and want a newer model, you can always go to a dealership and do what is called a trade-in with your car. In this case you will have to give the dealer your car and the previous credit payment you are yet to clear will be locked in the payment of the newer model car you want to pick. However, your monthly agreed payment might increase. Similar case applies to phone and many other items. This is the one reason there are so much clean cars here and also available for exports; they don't use their cars much before disposing of it. Contrary to what the OP said about getting credit to come back hom, I come back to Nigeria every year and I pay cash for my flight tickets, I pay cash for all the things I buy for my journey, I bought my car here in the US cash, all my house properties are bought cash. The only thing I bought in credit which I have almost completed the payment is my house. Here in the US you have to be serious minded in all you do. Once you come to the country be focused and know what you want; don't be carried away with the goodies here. I am not saying that there are no Nigerians here living the kind of credit life the OP narrated but it's few and I don't think it's a bad thing because it reduces financial load on an individual. It enhances fast achievement. It enables one to achieve in a short time what he would achieve in a long period of time. So OP please don't genaralise. US is always better than Nigeria. Nairalanders don't let anybody deceive you. Credit card purchases makes life easier here in the US if you can handle the terms. |
You heard one part of the story and drew your conclusions...that's wrong! Biased mind can't take us anywhere. MrHistorian: |
Sorry OP for your experience with gionee marathon M5. But I can assure u that gionee is a good brand because I currently use M5 and ever since I bought it I ve never had any bad feelings owning it. The phone has a very strong battery, looks classy and very perfect in roaming. What I presently use in the US, is a gionee phone bought from a dealer shop in Nigeria. SIM cards in the US are renowned for phone selection. I took my gionee phone to an AT&T outlet to get a SIM card, after my friends discouraged me that it will not work, that I will need to buy a network enhanced phone or better still buy the phone I will use the SIM with here in the states. I disagreed with them and still went ahead to the AT&T outlet with my gionee phone. The phone accepted the SIM and immediately showed signal for network after a very little configuration. The white guy was surprised. Right now I ve two SIM cards in my gionee marathon M5 phone; airtel Nigeria and AT&T US. I do acknowledge calls on the airtel line with perfect network signal via roaming. Possibly the gionee M5 phone u bought had a manufacturer's error or was not made by the original gionee phone manufacturer. For the charger u complained about, u can always get an original charger from an open market. It may not necessarily be a gionee brand because phone chargers are now made universal for use with almost all phones. My gionee charger is still good and charges fast. Sorry about ur experience. |

immaq8:Teaching is also good, but I bet you the certificate you obtained in Nigeria for that will not be valid when you get to the US. Also your ability to get a job here is based on your visa status. If you don't have a permanent resident visa you could hardly get a job. |
No matter what skill you have in Nigeria before emigrating to the US, once you emigrate your certificates will not be valid. You will need to get the training here and obtain their certification. Right now I live in the US and I can tell you that the certificates I came with are not valid until I had to do some recertification trainings in the states. Somebody coming here with an already obtained certificate for some skills can only have the advantage of grabbing the training fast since he or she already has the experience. Ask your cousin to go learn truck (trailer) driving; that will only help him to grab the CDL-A training fast when he comes to the US. CDL drivers are highly needed in the US. They make good money. He can also learn e-marketing. With this skill, he can come to the US and be making money on his own as an affiliate marketer. The training requires a good coach that can always put him through in areas he may be having some doubts. It requires absolute mastery otherwise he will be loosing his money and not be making anything and feel frustrated. He can also come and join the medical field and once he becomes an RN, or obtains his BSN he will all be smiles and be searching for me for appreciation. It may take upto 5 years. But trust me 5 years is not such a long time. |

By Pastor Sophia It is not difficult to know if a lady really genuinely loves you. At the same time, it is also not difficult to know if a lady does not love you. No matter how well or long she pretends, there will be certain signs that will point to the fact that she does not love you. Once you observe these signs, you need to move on with your life There is no point flogging the relationship. Here are some of the signs 1. She will not be excited about you Once a lady always, all of the time is cold, unexcited, and irritable around you, she does not really love you and does not enjoy your company. 2. She does not talk about you to her friends Usually ladies are relational and love to talk about the relationships in their lives. When a lady is in love, she doesn't hide it. If she is not talking about you, you probably don't hold a special place in her heart. Click To Tweet 3. She has other male friends and hides them from you Once you are not the only guy in her life and she hides other guys from you, she doesn't really love you. She has other hidden agenda. Her text messages are all private. She walks away to pick calls. Her heart may not be with you. 4. She criticizes you a lot and compares you with other guys A lady that does not value you and keeps comparing you with other guys will most likely leave you. She does not love you enough to accept you. 5. She openly embarrasses you A lady that does not respect you but publicly embarrasses you, does not really love you. It doesn't mean much to her to hurt your feeling. She does not really care. 6. She does not stay or keep in touch A lady that "forms" busy all the time and doesn't stay in touch does not really loves you. When a lady loves you, she will always want to be around you. 7. She does not pray or intercede for you When a lady loves a guy she prays for him and talks to God about him. If she has never prayed for you, if she doesn't talk to God about your progress, she does not really love you. Click To Tweet 8. She will not give to you She doesn't have to give a guy expensive things but her willingness and readiness to share what she has is a sign that she loves the guy. If a lady is always receiving gifts from you without giving you anything in return, she does not love you. 9. She will not keep you informed about her personal and private life A lady does not love you if she does not inform you about our personal life. If she keeps vital personal details of her life, past or present from you, she does not love you. Click To Tweet 10. She can not verbalize her love Once a lady cannot say categorically that she loves you, then she does not love you. Usually, a lady should find it easy to say, "I love you" if she does. So if she has never said she loves you and does not show it in her actions that she loves you, she really does not love you. I pray that God will give us more understanding. |
Emekayoung:OP if there is no external leakage from your car engine, then there is nothing wrong with the car; it is normal. I use Toyota Camry and in the car manual I read a clause that says, car oil could short in gauge over time depending on usage. In this case the oil should be topped to gauge. If the shortage does not happen within a short time after regular usage, then it's normal. But if the occurrence is rapid even when the vehicle is not used often, then I will advise u contact your mechanic. Also note that after car oil change, the oil could drop in gauge when driven. After oil change, do your oil gauging in the morning to top oil. |
Interesting write up. Kudos OP. |
Constitutional lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, SAN, says the millions of Dollars, Pounds and Naira, found in an apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos, among other discoveries were meant to divert attention from the hunger, squalor, fear, disease, non-performance and cluelessness of APC government, adding a “serving Minister” owns the money. He added that the recent developments are ploy to making sure that Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, remains in charge of the agency. The human rights activist made the claim in a statement yesterday where he said that “the farcical story that National Intelligence Agency NIA, Nigeria’s external secret Police has claimed ownership of the sum of $43.4m, £27, 800 and N23.2m is total hogwash, bunkum and balderdash. The discovery has generated controversy and finger-pointing, with former governor of Rivers State now Transport Minister being accused of owning the cash. Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has also weighed in, insisting that Amaechi come clean on the matter. Ozekhome, in his statement, said, “Let this government and its minions credit Nigerians with some modicum of sense and capacity to reason, even with their valiant attempts to cow, browbeat and intimidate all opposition elements and critical voices in their so called corruption war. “At least, not even the terror halo cast on our individual and collective psyche has dulled our analytical minds. “The entire theatricality and Baba Sala’s Alawada Kerikeri buffoonery ought to be reserved for some circus show at the National Theatre or Trafalgar Square, where comedians and humour merchants entertain. “The emergent facts do not show NIA’s ownership of the money, but grand cover-up of a serving minister’s ownership of the money. “It is so, so sad that all these national diversions are simply geared towards highlighting and emphasizing the omnipotence and indispensability of just one man, Ibrahim Magu, as Executive Chairman of the EFCC. We should build strong institutions, not strong individuals. “Before Ibrahim Magu, there was a Nuhu Ribadu; there was a Mrs Waziri: and there was an Ibrahim Lamorde. After Magu, there would still be another EFCC Executive Chairman. “All these so-called humongous recoveries of orphaned monies are simply geared towards showcasing ineffable efficiency, effectiveness and matchless proficiency. “It simply doesn’t work that way. In the USA, wherefrom we borrowed our presidentialism, the equivalent agency works silently behind the scene, only seen, but never heard, except where it becomes absolutely necessary. “But, here in Nigeria, the EFCC engages in grotesque media trial, hifalutin and shocking disclosures of orphaned monies whose destinations after the media hype are never known. “Where are all the alleged recoveries of are vast sums, attached properties, etc, made by the EFCC, kept and how much are they? “When asked this question by the Senate during screening, Magu told a shocked and bewildered Nation he did not know! “We seem now fixated to name, shame and humiliate Nigerians with the paint brush of shame, odium, obloquy and denigration. “How can about N15 billion be found in highbrow Osborne Road, Ikoyi, by no means a back squalid street? “How can a foreign arm of the Nigerian secret Police, the equivalent of CIA, keep such hard currency in cash at an unguarded apartment, tucked away with many other apartments in a block of flats, not in a separate heavily fortified and fiercely guarded stand -alone building that has “keep off” carefully imprinted on it? “What was it meant for and who approved it and in which budget? “Who was the whistle blower that could identify that such money was “hidden” in the bedroom in flat 7A, leaving out flat 7B, yet not knowing who kept the money there or its ownership? “Why was EFCC not pictured or videotaped going into the apartment, before we suddenly saw an arranged “counting” of money? “Is there no CCTV in such a highbrow wealthy society members abode? “Can we see the footages please? Only last week, N49m orphaned sum was “arrested” at Kaduna Airport! “Then, suddenly another sum of orphaned N448m was “discovered” in an ownerless shop in Victoria Island. “Who owned the plaza? Who sold there? Are there no CCTV there? Can we see them please? “The truth is that all these simulated ‘arrangee’ discoveries can only temporarily divert attention from the hunger, squalor, fear, disease, not performance and cluelessness of this government. “But, unfortunately, even lies have their expiry date. Truth is inexorable, immutable and eternal. “The chicken will finally come home to roosthe |
