Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Finally, I Left My Job For Freelancing! by Sheriman(m): 6:10pm On Aug 26, 2021
KratosCorp:
I know someone who borrowed 5k for data (2gig for a start) a laptop, plus tab that was previously gifted to him (used for both WiFi and writing) to start freelance writing on Upwork in December 2014. He got his first 5 hours gig in February 2015 for $3/hr (after more than 2 months of fearless grinding and efforts to land that super illusive first gig). He completed the gig with joy and got his first glowing 5-star review.

Today the guy has grown to become a digital marketing strategist and consultant purely by self development and brutal commitment to excellence and self-driven learning.

To be clear, this dude never attended secondary school once in his life let alone a university. But he's a super bright autodidact, with a vampire level of resilience.
Everybody can't have that opportunity

My one cent:

Gigs don't come always: know this.

If you don't have a gen, a PC, and cannot go on at least 10gb data monthly, don't even bother. I'll advise you leave the animation thing cos you'll be competing with the big lords and you wouldn't stand a chance.

Focus on writing. Even foreigners leave their people and prefer blacks.

In the freelance world, it's not easy here. It's competitive too. BE more interested in satisfying your clients than the money if you want to last long.
Remember to tell him that not just all these 100K PC of 4 GIG RAM can get the job done. For 3D Animation you need a high end laptop of 16 GIG RAM with 6 GIG RAM Nvidia graphics card and a drawing graphics tablet. A lot of Data. Money to subscribe for the software you gonna use. 3D Animation is damn expensive

When learning a programming language. Please choose your path at the beginning and follow it. If you want to become either a web developer or Android IOS Application developer or desktop developer there are some languages and framework you need to learn and you must understand the basics, start developing with it, read a lot of documentation, always practice practice and practice. Doing all these for years will make you become a good developer. Nothing good comes easy

See them old cargoes leaders and Political godfather who don't have anything upstairs except to loot their country blue black. They were all in a white Man's land looking so beautiful where everything are organised but unfortunately back home, their home states and local governments look like garbage and slum. Those two governors own their workers months of salaries. Even if they will pay their workers they pay half of workers salaries that just absolute wickedness of a pure African leader. Many projects left undone or abandoned. State social economic and security condition were all in mess. Useless bunch of African leaders. I just hate this people. They have turn Nigeria to a very poor country.

Who would have thought that muslims will be running away from a muslim country because the rules and laws there are inhumane.

I believe that their own family members are among those that fled and waiting to be rescued.

Let them rule themselves.

Allow the northern part of Nigeria implement full sharia and see northerners running away.

Truth be told most people born into muslim families regret being part of that religion.
Shut up!!! Many of you here will just type rubbish on what you don't know anything about. I'm a Muslim and am proud to say it. I am not an extremist I am not a religion fundamentalist. I do not support any form of terrorism. Islamic denounce any act of terrorism. You people all follow what the media, the orientalist say about Jihad all the falsehood interpretations, meaning and misconception they gave about jihad and Islamic doctrines without doing your own research.
Politics › Re: Yerima Shettima: Amnesty Can Make Boko Haram Take Over Nigeria Like The Taliban by Sheriman(m):
Don't include other regions rather say they will take over Northern region and enforce strict Sharia law on your head.
We are from South, we are not religion fundamentalist who celebrate terror, forcing religion on people, killing people who do not support their actions and find solace by turning the people to the dark ages.
I am a Yoruba Muslim but not a religion fundamentalist or religion bigot. Islam denounce any form of terrorism. Those bastard Terrorists are not following the Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW) and Holy Quran. There is no compulsion in Islam. During the days of the Prophet in Medina he lived with thousand of Christians and Jews despite under an Islamic caliphate. He allowed them to practiced their religion and judge according to the rules written in their own book. They did business together, hold meetings together to improve the social economic development of medina and how to strengthen the security of the city. He only asked them to pay Jizya which means a kind of Zakat you paid to the Islamic government purse for your guarantee as a citizen and securing your lives and properties under Islamic territory. I red a lot about the religion political, social and economic governance of the prophet I didn't see where he preach or asked his followers to kill people from other faith. These people are just trying to dent the image of Islam and they will not successful. Islam is already complete and perfected religion.

You think they'll listen? I make more than half a mill monthly thanks to my writing skill.

This means I earn more than some folks working 9-5 jobs in an oil company lol...

Digital skill is the way, but the problem most folks encounter is dedicating time to learn.

Imagine dedicating a year or more to learning, without thinking of earning.

It's hard, the reason why they'd prefer to keep looking for a job!
I wonder oooo. After I graduated from UNILAG I don't even stress myself to look for job that is not there. Immediately, I went to learn a skill and I am happy for myself.

Nigeria is a useless country!! And by the way I am very surprised to see what some job seekers are going through after reading this thread. People still looking for Jobs? I will just say people should stop searching for job that is not available. The era of believing only on paper certificate is gone, please diversify to digital skills.
You can learn 3D Animation, Illustration designing, graphics designing, programming, video editor, photography, painting, electrician, data scientist, UI/UX designing, blockchain development, AWS development, AI development, Manga Artist, Comic Artist, AutoCAD designing, AutoRevit designing and many more. People should invest their time and money in any of these things. The era of having only paper certificate is gone in Nigeria

Yupng:
The days of building mobile app using technologies like java for Android and swift for ios will soon be over.

Cross platform frameworks are taking over. Most people still refer react native apps as web or hybrid apps, hell no. React native apps are very native like and are not web app since they use native features.

Since i started developing apps with React native, I just fell in love with it. Most big companies are also beginning to embrace React native. God bless facebook inc for such a wonderful technology.

If you are smart and got foresight , you better jump on it now.
Guy I just dey laugh with this your assertion that using Java for Android development and IOS development will be over soon. Seriously?? Abeg do your research well again. Every language has it own user base so you can't say you like react native and start rubbishing other languages
