No administration can sustain subsidy for 6 months without getting broke and end up unable to pay salaries talkless of doing infrastructure projects. Any insane person that wish to bring back subsidy will have to first bring the dollar exchange rate down. So should be ready to subside both fuel and dollar exchange. Subsidizing fuel at the current dollar rate is economy suicide.

I don't think he and his supporters have read through the Petroleum Industry Act.

I want to believe that Atiku is ready to fight dirty inside the mod in this election bcoz it's his last. He's ready to throw up anything to curry votes even though they're not implementable.

Atiku outburst is capable of causing distortion in the oil sector and discouraged investors who had left Nigeria before Tinubu brought them back. A regulated oil sector is a no no to a reasonable investor.

Atiku please don't encourage the return of Queue at fuel stations.

If queues are the only reason why fuel prices are high, I promise you millions will queue to buy fuel at much cheaper rate that what we experience now.

Also, this queue thing is stale. Queues only occur few times. It’s not a daily occurrence.

With Dangote refinery up and running, subsidies just need to be paid to him and we get cheaper fuel.

I’ll rather queue to buy fuel at 400 a liters than buy quicker at 1400 a liter.

That is the goal of every sane Nigerian.

I disagree. The best way to reinvest is to put the money back into the system, give the money back to the people and redistribute it so they can afford the cost of petrol.

America and western countries run a system that gives you a job to make money but puts a lot of things in your face that pushes you to put the money back into the system and it keeps getting redistributed

They keep you working hard so you don’t have time to cook so you go to the restaurant to eat. After months of working hard, you need a vacation. You buy a house to show you’re doing well and keep paying rent or mortgage.

You make the money and give it back, and by the time you realize what’s happening, you’re old, and you retire and realize all you did that for was to keep the system running.

Give the money to which people? Isn’t Tinubu saying he’s giving governors more money? What are they doing with it?

USA actually subsidizes agricultural produce for its citizens. You can Google how much the US spends annually on agricultural subsidies. (What Atiku is proposing is similar to the US agricultural subsidies where farmers get those subsidies directly from the US government) what matters is follow through and ensure that those subsidies do what the government actually intends them to do.

Subsidy is not bad as our politicians here have painted it. They just hate the poor and love to see people suffer.

As much as Tinubu’s government mismanaged subsidy savings, we need to keep subsidy removal, but decide how to invest the money directly on Nigerians.

If you must take away my daily rations, replace it with a job, or a farmland where I can plant and feed myself.

Tinubu took away our rations and left us to fend for ourselves. Peter Obi should provide employment opportunities and fishing tools for us to fish, feed and sell to the world.

The truth remains that there’s no genuine or certain way to invest in the people than find something that controls the entire economy. Sadly, it’s petrol in our case here.

Had past governments including the present fixed electricity supply and provide 24/7 power, there won’t be much need for petrol use.

Some people are against subsidy on petrol but they want subsidy on CNG, diesel and transports. Isn’t that double standards?

Those that looked at the situation of Nigeria and decided to subsidy petrol saw the effects expensive petrol would have on a country where over 50% have always been poor.

Tinubu administration is not responsible and not doing anything to lift people out of poverty, that’s why some prefer subsidy be returned since we can’t point to what Tinubu has done with the so called “savings”.

What is your state government doing in the area of food production. It is production that brings inflation down.

Have you read the latest report on nigeria's daily fuel consumption.......it states we consume about 50m liters of fuel daily both locally produced and imported........do the math on how much subsidy govt would have been paying daily with the current cost at 1,350.

How much will prices come down to,will atiku bring it back to the pre tinubu rates of 250 naira a liter,that means he will be paying nothing less than 1k per liter in subsidy,kindly multiply that by 50m liters daily.......any subsidy regime that will come to the consumer higher than 500 to 600 naira makes no sense and even at that,atiku will still have to be forking out 650 naira on every liter.......do the math,where atiku wan see that kind money pay?

Instead of direct pms subsidy,why not push for policy advocacy that govt should rather make efficient and cheap transportation available.........lagos state for instance should provide more CNG mass transit busses at subsidised rates,about half the cost the masses are currently spending on transport.......also food trucks from the north can be subsidised by providing subsidised diesel or free diesel for them with tracking devices attached to monitor their movements also the multiple state levies they pay should be abolished or reduced.

Govt should provide standard public schools that will be affordable,they can serve as alternatives to the expensive private schools all over the place,this will make households able to save money they would have spent sending their children to private schools.

Health care,child and maternal health should be made free and a health scheme that is efficient and affordable, health insurance should be more accessible and our PHCs be better improved to provide cheaper health care to the masses.

The challenge is many of this things we mentioned falls within the purview of the state govs who should be compelled by the citizens to do more,if you are get cheap subsidised transport to work, your kids are attending cheap public schools,your wife and child can get affordable health care and food arrives at the market cheaper...... the govt would have done a lot to ameliorate the suffering of the people amd will have a far better effect then the burdensome pms subsidy regime and can be effectively tracked and assessed.

Where did you get 50M daily again? Who are those buying these fuel?

Businesses that used to power generators with petrol have closed since fuel prices surged, people no longer fill up their car tanks and no one fills up his fuel tank daily. So where is this 50N petrol usage daily coming from?

I offer procurement and shipping services. Been at it for almost a decade now.

I’ve been dealing mostly with Nigerian customers (at least 80%), SMEs and MSMEs. Since 2023 business has really slowed down due to the economic situation and exchange rate. SMEs cannot survive such high and unstable rate coupled with fact that duty fees have increased dramatically when compared to years before. Income has taken a hit significantly.

My next step is to get clients from overseas that can pay in USD, the Nigerian market has customers, but a very few of them can pay well.

It is easy to criticize those in government. Why not throw your hat in the ring and let's see how far you can bring the required change. Imagine him calling Sanwo-Olu a failure. Did you even acknowledge some of his numerous achievements before coming out to say he's a failure. As long as he's in APC and Tinubu brought him, anything he achieves is nothing to you.

What did he achieve? Name them.
