I think the US is more particular about destabilizing Nigeria than actually helping. Why have they not asked Saudi and other Islamic countries to ban sharia law. You don't just propose such unreasonable solution at such a fragile moment.

Sharia law is what Muslims practice, what you should be talking about is how to standardize it with written down non-barbaric punishment for offenders. Also for the government to make sure it's binding on only willing muslims and subject to appeal at higher courts.

This is not a solution in any way, it's rather the creation of another problem because it will no longer be war against bandits, it will now be war against Islam which Nigeria is not ready for.

Saudi has just one law (Shariah), it is a Muslim state thus it’s applicable.

Nigeria is not a Muslim state, never has at any point in history. Why should a secular state have two sets of laws?

It’s either they scrap the shariah law out of the constitution and we return to how we where circa 1999 or the north that so much love shariah law can keep the name Nigeria and let the rest of the country go their ways.

And shariah law cannot be standardized as you said. Islamic laws are not to be changed for any reason.

And when Nigeria is divided into different regions what system of leadership would we use in those regions? I am referring to reviving the current system of monarchy we practice in the different regions of Nigeria and updating it to improve effectiveness and reduce corruption. Furthermore, if Nigeria is divided into smaller regions, independent yet working together as one country for their benefit — it would still need some kind of "overseeing house" that will be able to supersede the authority of the various monarchs on matters of economic benefit to the whole nation. Monarchy cannot work for regions. Take South West for example: who will be the paramount ruler of that entire region? Is it Ooni or Alaafin? What do you expect of other Kings in that region? The Soun, Timi of Ede, Akran of Badagry, Awujale of Ijebu, Alake of Egba?

Do you think these monarchs will submit to be under any other king as chiefs?

Monarchy can only work for a very small region of people with the same ideology.

The other way to have a sole king is by going to wars and battles.

Democracy is still the better option.
